((yay another nation restart... great another dead nation brought back from the dead))
Flash! A ship burst into view from seemingly nowhere in a short lived, yet brilliant, flash of light. The ship had a name engraved on its side. It was a relatively small name requiring magnification to see from any distance, but once magnified one could easily read the name, or perhaps better called desegnation, "XS-EFTDD-01" (experimental ship, enhanced fusion Destroyer [Father than light] travel- ship 1) The ship's rear dive, a pulse fusion dive, one of the cheapest types, roared to life as the ship moved into the system.

Firehelper information network
The system of Firehelper is a large system comprised of 12 planets, one inner asteroid belt containing two dwarf planets and an outer accretion ring containing another 12 dwarf planets.

History from SA 0 (space ascension colander)

Year 0 (technology 1970-75) is the year that the first manned flight into space occurred. This event, while notable in itself, is also notable that it set the nation of Firehelper as the leading nation in the world. Firehelper was around three years ahead of every other nation in the world in space technology for this was the sole effort of the nation for a decade. However, it lacked in other areas of technology.

The efforts of the nation in controling space were successful as Firehelper quickly lead in areas of meteorology and also gained a near monopoly in global communications as its satellites broadcasted signals all over the world. The main gain from space though was space based nuclear weapons. These hidden silos were unreachable from the earth and with these firehelper effectively dominated the world. Also in space was the foundation of what has now become the Planetary, space defence net, a then state of the art chemical laser system that was able to destroy any ICBM anywhere in the world at its launch.

SA 2, the fourth world war, Firehelper, already a world superpower after the third world war (one of four), declared war on the other three blocs. The war was quick and brutal. The other three blocs responded with ICBMS directed at space and Firehelper itself along with its allies. However, what was then called the strategic defence net, worked to destroy all ICBMs, and it succeeded in this task. There was not one missile that exploded. With the end of the stratigic arsenal of all nations in the world other than that which was contained in space and in firehelper, Firehelper now had control over these weapons of mass destruction. The goal of Firehelper was to take over the world and reutilize it in an effort to reach the starts, a vision of its leader. To this end the world had to be taken mostly intact.

enemy command centers fell as large, dense rods made up of a superheavy element known only to history as naquadah fell and detonated in what could be called a small nuclear explosion detonating and destroying the major opposing command centers in the world. Followed by this all regional commands were cut off from the capitals of their respective nations and thus formed small, incohesive units. Taking control of the confusion the Firehelper army lanced out and took one by one each of these areas. Within three years all of the nations fell and Firehelper annexed the world, even its allies.

SA 63 (technology, 2030)

The world, now called Firehelper III, was effectively "green" it was powered almost entirely by renewable means, that being Fusion, and solar satellites in space. Transportation was achieved by the burning of hydrogen. the original goal of the leader was still in place and people worked on setting up colonies on the moon and on the other terrestrial planets. The technology was not avalable 63 years after the end of the age where man was limited to earth. However, these technologies were still too expensive to be implemented with rocket boosters and two massive projects were started. The first was a network of "spaceports" from which things could be launched from mass drivers and the other was a network of "space elevators" The space elevators would be more useful in the end but the spaceports would be built sooner. However, it would take 22 more years before the first opened.

SA 85 (technology 2100+)

The world was rapidly expanding both in population and decreasing in room. The large proliferation of cities has caused the expansion of land into the sea and even the construction of the first "domed cities" under the ocean. It was projected that with the advent of inexpensive space travel space would no longer be a problem. Indeed, during this year projects to colonize three planets and their moons were authorized. The first goal would be the moon of firehelper III. The moon was easily reached and robots quickly created a modular colony network in a crater on the moon. In another 20 years the population of the moon reached 100,000.

Also during these 20 years mining companies now focused on the near inexhaustible resources located in the asteroid belt. The first asteroids were brought into orbit around Firehelper III and they were slowly converted by recently developed assembler nanobots. The material was sent to the Lagrange points. At these points numerous space colonies were under construction and would be used to house millions from earth.

SA 185 (technology 2???)

It would take 100 years for the complete colonization of the solar system. The last three terrestrial planets were terraformed, but the closes to the sun, a airless rock, was made into the primary energy center for the system, a anti-matter creator. Using the power of the sun, antimatter was created and used as fuel for the government ships in the system (all others, and even many government ships, used the easier to maintain naquadah enhanced fusion reactors). The system was basically as it was now. Way stations dotted the system at Lagrange points. Colonies were located at the Lagrange points around planets. The system had a large military presence in it to deter pirates. One thing set apart this year from all others, the discovery of a rudimentary FTL system. This, still classified, system is the jumpgate network. These “jumpgates” encased ships traveling within “lanes” in a partly sustained FTL field. Any object inside would be propelled to around 10x the speed of light. This system enabled ships to move with stunning speed across the system. However, the disruption of these FTL field generator/ sustainers also attracted pirates which caused another increase in military strength. Now the system, planets maintained by the current model of nanobot, the IX-113A, and order maintained by the military exists.

The current year is SA 211. Following the discovery of a more advanced, self contained FTL drive system which operated on an entirely different principle, the [censor], the government is now constructing a fleet to colonize the nearby system of Negara.

(and thats the end of my pre-history)

The large fleet gathered at the edge of the system. Contained within were numerous military ships, powered by the volatile anti-matter reactors, and civilian ships. The larger ships were each custom made, given to captains who proved worthy by the government’s classified nanobot dry-dock facility around the dwarf planet Sigma Iota. There were two carriers. These carriers were called the FNS Intrepid and the FNS Continuing Sun . they carried numerous drone fighters. There also were three battleships, eight cruisers, 20 destroyers, and around 50 frigates and other escort craft. All these ships formed a shell around the central 50 civilian ships, whose size varied according to what they carried (from nanobot- terraformers to seed and animals).

While many of the smaller ships had a bulky look with hard angles, blocky shapes, and a lack of paint, the larger ships were sleek and carried a sense of magnificence. Each was identifiable by shape and each shape could have been carried over from the last ship which bore the ship’s name. Names and shape marked the prestige of each ship and the record of battle was carried over from old ships. The intrepid was the oldest in this tradition. Its name came from a ship of the line. In its battle record were numerous sunk wooden ships, downed fighters, sunk carriers, along with the battles won on sea and in space. Now it was a carrier which lead the fleet. With one signal flare the ships all activated their drives. They headed into the great abyss which was space.

[System Negara]

The large 132 ship fleet emerged in the system. The fleet was the pride of the empire and they would expand the empire into a new frontier.

((OOC: First person could take some sort of outpost or something… seeing as it is a short distance away it could be some sort of observation post seeing as such a short system can detect the radio waves emanating from my planet around 20 or so years ago… I would like the planet though))

This world was the same as any world that Calaveras watched. It was an outpost, her garrison was two hundred strong, a small base. The white colorded building's represented Calaverian superioirty. Through the stargate more materials and supplys were brought in from Celestis. The outpost, although small, packed a sizeable punch. She had a squadron of five probe fighters(manned), and three Stalker recon vehicles. Climate was rather beutifal, it was covered in forests and small plains. Creeks behaved like veins in the landscape. The GOU were sitting in barracks having lunch.

The bridge of the intrepid was a large holographic chamber wherein the command crew were located. Around them was the information collected from the ships surrounding the intrepid. It was a near perfect rendition in real time of everything that the sensors collected. All the ships were linked and each person could zoom in on a specific portion combining the strength of all the ships sensors in a large array.

Currently the captain looked on at the planet. There were some anomalous readings but still the fleet would continue, and continue it did on towards the unknown.

" See ya Mac" Jack said as he closed the door to the Stalker. Mac drove off with some GOU on the back smiling waving there helmets as they drove away on patrol. Jack walked with his War-Path assault rifle slung over his shoulder, he took off his helmet, the HUD turned off as the neural link detached. Jack smiled as he walked in chow line, he quickly picked up a sandwitch and began walking outside past the pilots as they checked there fighters. He set his rifle down on a rock and began munching, steak, lettuc, cheese, pretty good if he did think so himself. Scans began to pick up objects in space, but nothing to alarm anyone at the moment.

On the bridge of the Setulanite Republican Vessel Temorix, a Storm-Class frigate, a sleepy deck officer was looking forward to the end of his shift when he blinked and saw what was on his screen.
"Holy dogshit!" he screamed, and slammed an alarm. Sirens rang throughout the ship, and a voice started calling out
"General Quarters. General Quarters. This is not a drill."
over and over again. The door to the Captain's room banged open and Captain Joshua Miro ran out, tugging pants on over his underwear.
"Status!" he called out, his voice cutting through the confusion. "What's attacking us?"
"Uh...nothing yet, sir. But we-" The captain cut him off with an incredulous look.
"Nothing? Are you out of your damned mind? Are you trying to give me a heart attack, you young whelp?"
"No sir! Sir, I just picked up 132 ships and one planet on the scope!"
"Holy dogshit! Why didn't you say so!" The captain composed himself once more (or at least as much as a man can compose himself when he is half wearing his pants).
"I," he announced in ringing tones, "Am going to put my pants on. And once that is done, we will contact this fleet."

Five minutes later, Captain Joshua Miro was on the bridge in full uniform. Checking with his comm officer, he picked up the vox microphone.

Unknown fleet, unknown fleet, this is the SRV Temorix, from Setulan. We are a warship sent on an exploration mission, and this is Captain Joshua Miro speaking. Can you please identify?

ooc:so I wanted to get in on this (I've just really started FT and I'm trying to get to know people), but I didn't really know how...so I figured I would just be a ship on an exploration mission that stumbles into what I hope is a truly epic battle =P

Scanners picked up the new fleet that had shown up, a message was sent above.

" Attention vessels, you have entered observed territory, withdraw immediatly"

Alarms rang out on the outpost, Jack immediatly got up and put his helmet on, the neural link attached but he decided to just use normal human vision as the default. He grabbed his assault rifle and sprung to his feet running back to the base, men were scramling to the few vehicles and fighters, while the rest ran to the armory to get there weapons.

"Captain, recieving a message from the planet!" Miro looked surprised.
"Not the fleet?"
"No sir, not yet, but we have recieved a message from the surface."
"Very well, play it for me."

thirty seconds later-

"What the hell is observed territory? And who the hell do they think they are?" Miro was getting pissed off. "Give me that vox!"

Observers, or whoever you are...we are on a peaceful mission of exploration, and I think you should be more concerned about the massive fleet coming towards you than one lonely, neutral and maybe friendly frigate, over!

"Now lets wait and see if the fleet is more polite."
"Sir, they don't need to be polite. They outnumber us 132 to 1."
"Fair point. Send a message back to Setulan, we might need help if this gets ugly. Key word 'if', gentlemen! I don't want to do something stupid."

Contact was cut off from the outpost to space, the outpost knew this wasn't good, and that was why the were preparing for a fight. Jack loaded his war-path and assumed defensive position, Mac's patrol was still out there, but they were radioed to come home. Everything was rather silent, they waited for whatever was going to come at them.

"Sir, no reply."
"What? Run a diagnostic check!"
"I did, sir, twice. Nothing...we're on our own." Miro was dumbfounded. He was about to watch an outpost get overrun, and he couldn't do anything about it.
Captain Miro watched in horror as the massive fleet headed towards the planet...and the vastly outnumbered troops down below.

[Bridge of the Intrepid]
The intrepid moved though space with the silent hum of its main engines.
[AI COMMUNICATION BETWEEN NEURAL LINK OF CAPTAIN ALPHIUS AND SHIP]
A large unknown ship has been detected.
But we are the only ships out here
It is of an unknown type, it is only logical that it is not of our race, therefore this has become a first contact situation. By the size of the ship we must take precautions

Initiate first battle alert

[Fleet view]
The fleet, receiving the order from the Command ship's AI activated all weapons and defensive systems coming online. The systems were the most advanced in all of Hu tian Di, and yet perhaps it would not be enough. Invisible particle barriers drew up around the antirety of the fleet. Each ship projected a small portion forming a near indestructible (but hutiandi standards) sphere (well more of an oval). the Ship's AI would coordinate all fire though holes created in the shields by the ships at seemingly random intervals.
the weapons on the ships came on line, countless capacitators charged up for the firing of large dense slugs and the firing of directed energy and plasma weapons. If a war would come, it would be a war.

((yes no FTL form of communication and I have no idea how do decode your standard transmissions due to compression and encoding differences))

"Captain, still no response from the fleet."
"Damn...alright, lets sent another tranmission, open net. Maybe the poor bastards on the surface can pick up our radio waves too."

Approaching fleet, approaching fleet, this is the SRV Temorix, a warship sent on a mission of exploration by out leaders. Can you please identify and tell us a statement of your intentions? Over.

Jack squinted as the sunlight peirced the surface, his black War-Path assault rifle was getting slightly warm as it had been sitting on a log, he was on his belly surveying a small plain for enemy contacts, which had not shown there faces. The dual 50.Cal guns on the Stalkers searched the skys, as did the two AA turrets. The outpost had thirty Scorpion launchers, cabable of Anti-air and ground targets. Sweat started to form out of Jack's forehead as he peered down the sites, ready to say hello.

"Today is the celebration of the first planned travel around the galaxy, conducted by the NXT 01 Travel Prototype. A frigate designed to test revolutionary new technology in our Empire's attempt to revolutionize the armada..."

Officer Zerka at first wondered why she had been assigned to lead the ship instead of one of the more capable commanders or even admirals, but as she was watching the recording of the 01s send off party for the five hundredth time, she found out. So far she had been leading the team of five humanoids running a largely automated vessel for a flight plan that would take three months before stopping itself at the Expedition's world to announce to them developments at home, as well as announce the technology a success.

Right now was the slow period of the travel, where the ship cut through the galactic disk and thus had its FTL slowed by the presence of gravity to a mere tenth of its potential outside. But it also marked the first half of the trip, meaning she was half way through the nightmarishly boring route - unfortunately it already felt like her sanity was about to snap.

"Ma'am," another officer, in charge of communications and sensors, spoke up. His voice sounded course from the fact it hadn't been used much in over a month, "There's an anomaly in the Drift, potentially caused by an unknown phenomena (Fireguard's FTL), it might interfere with our drives."

"Are we in it yet?" she spoke in an almost as course voice, shutting off the recording and blinking eyes all to accustomed to the sight of the small bridge.

"No Ma'am, twenty seconds from it... It could be disasterous..."

"Break FTL immediately, we don't have any time to return to undistorted Drift, so it might be a bit bumpy..." the officer in charge of engineering systems, also located on the bridge as was everyone else, overheard and shut the engines off. It was a relatively rough process, suddenly dropping out of the sub-dimension and into real space, marked by a sudden bright stream of particles racing across a hundred thousand kilometers of space before reforming into the virtually unarmed frigate. Other than the rather spectacular light show, leaving DDrift so suddenly had few other dangers, minus the distortion in FTL sensors for a full fifteen seconds."

"Give me regular sensors online," she now spoke, her voice actually cracking from the over exertion. "And if we see any vessels, reply with a binary message via radio wavelengths apologizing for the... well, for our entrance."
