OOC Backstory moment: This will be the news thread of the Nivensky-Ringworld Foundation. They're a bunch of dudes solely funded by money I procured from a major IC scam, and in which the money procured was so vast in amount it can't actually be spent within the Allanean economy because it'll screw it over by shee over-extension of the money supply. As such, the Nivensky-Ringworld Foundation has kept the money hidden, some in cash, some in foreign banks across a variety of secret accounts, and has been spending it very slowly and discretely on various projects to benefit Allanea entire.

99% of Allaneans aren't quite sure where the Foundation's money is coming from, or how much they have. They just know these guys are filthy rich and that they go around purchasing new territories, internal improvements, and so forth.

On the other hand, as will now become obvious, I am looking to buy your junk. Star systems, megastructures, magical artifacts, alien technologies. I will buy and buy and buy until all the Foundation's money is gone.

With the recent establishment of the Allanean colony in the system of "Mistake" under the auspices of the Nivensky-Ringworld Foundation, the Foundation will be expanding its services and operation to cover the entire of Allanea. Official Message from the Nivensky-Ringworld Foundation:

Having recently purchased a system with two habitable planets (Lurgess) from a foreign nation (Kingdom of the Isles), we are now continuing on our policy on reform and development in all habitable worlds of the system, which will now be renamed by the Foundation, as follows:

1.The system itself will be renamed Athens.

2.The habitable worlds will be named Harmodius (closest to the system primary, hereby to be named Thucydides), and Aristogeiton (second-closest of the two).

The Allanean Arms Corporation will core-tap the system's gas giants, providing work for approximately 20,000 employees, mostly in the handling and transportation of the products of this core-tapping. Van Gent-series semi-automated mining stations will be also installed on the surface of the gas giants.

As for the system worlds, they will further be developed by us as follows:

1.Aristogeiton, the warmer habitable world of the Athenian system, is still in the Pangean stage of development, that is, its continents did not yet split. This allows for easier distribution of the land therein.

As a first stage of the development, every Allanean Arms employee hired to work on the coretapping will receive a 160-acre homestead on the surface of Aristogeiton, allowing for an initial core of settlement. Additionally, 10,000 40-acre homesteads will be sold in the vicinity of the surface port (tentative designation: Aristogeiton East), to establish a (sub)urban type community.

The sale price of the homesteads will equate to the sale price of a ticket aboard a sanctioned colony starship, plus the price of entering your claim upon the Aristogeiton Colonial Register [tentatively $5 to cover the costs]. Alternatively, one may arrive independently at Aristogeiton, and stake out a 160-acre claim, but be aware that anti-fraud measures will be taken to deal with land scams.

Finally, one thousand 1600-acre homesteads will be given to various corporate developers, for the cost of the same $5 a homestead, plus the commitment to institute either agricultural, industrial, or other improvements to the land within six months of arrival. Penalty for noncompliance will be $5000 per day of noncompliance.

2. Harmodius, the colder habitable world, is naturally further removed from the Athenian primary, and also appears to be older. We will base a volunteer anti-pirate space operation here, and pilots and sailors for the operation will receive 160-acre homesteads on the planet. Furthermore, any Allanean Arms employees will receive the choice of settling here instead of Aristogeiton.

A space of 500,000 square kilometers will be donated to the Alllanean Armed forces for what Congress has already designated the Tyrant-Slayers' Memorial Bolo Training Range. Any Allanean officer or soldier who completes more than six months' service on the surface of Harmodius, or in the Athenian system [to be defined, for the purposes of this paragraph, to include the Oort cloud], will receive a 160-acre homestead on Harmodius.

Furthermore, an Allanean Arms Faster-Than-Light Inhibitor will be donated to the Allanean government to be installed in the moon of Harmodius, to be used for the protection of the system.

Additional homesteads are to be given out when necessary.

3.Upon the achievement of the population level of 500,000 in the system, applications will be filed to incorporate the system as a self-governed United States territory, with any land still maintained by the Foundation in the system to be turned over, without compensation, to the resulting Colonial government, to be comprised of a bicameral legislature (directly elected by all personnel of age 16* and above who are Freemen, unless the local population, for any reason, decides to allow younger personnel to vote) and an elected System Governor (title given to discretion of the local populace). At that time, a Constitutent Assembly will be held to write the Constitution of the Athenian Territory, to further guarantee the God-Given, Constitutional, and Unalienable Rights of all Freemen (official name of Constitution, exact powers of governor, and other details to be determined at assembly, within the parameters defined above).

4.Upon the achievement of the population level of 10,000,000 in the system, an Allanean Arms Interstellar Gate will be installed therein.

Because the system remains, so far, the private property of the Foundation, we retain the God-Given, Constitutional, and Unalienable Right to fund, with our own money, any other improvements we see fit.

Orbit of Aristogeiton, aboard the SS Goodwill

The Conestoga gravitic colony ship coasted far, far out of sight, at precisely 100 miles and two furlongs above the surface of Aristogeiton's single continent. The ship's computer diverted resources from astrogation software – all it had to do is keep the ship in one place relative to the sufrace. In the various passengers' rooms, speakers spoke all at once, bearing the message for which the settlers had waited through the duration of their journey.

'This is Captain Kim speaking. You have reached the destination of your journey – the planet Aristogeiton of the Athens system. Even now as we speak, your future homes are being installed at the locations you chose.

Simon Jenkins was not asleep, of course. He had waited for this chance for ages – his own home in the Outer Colonies!

Simon had always been a loner. He never got along well with women – or men, for that matter. For him, becoming a programmer for The Benevolent Simulator Company was the best thing since sliced bread. He worked from home, having only seen his boss once, when he signed up to work with them. Ever since, he withdrew deeper and deeper into voluntary isolation – a man among the thousands secular monks of Blizzard County. When he did marry, it was to a professional translator whom he had met on a gaming forum. They both agreed – the city was too much, too dense, too many people. When they would have a child, they would raise him or her in the Colonies.

Some of you have purchased pre-made homes, others will build their own homes.

Martha Jenkins looked down. She had given birth two months go, and so could not assist with building the house. So Simon would build it himself – with hammer, saw, and nail. Of course, the 'saw' would be an imported Facehuggerian monomolecular-edged saw, designed to cut through powered armor, and would go through trees as if they were butter, and the 'hammer' was actually a heavy Allanean Arms glue-gun with glue that could bind together bricks and logs alike.

Some things would have to be brought in – a small reactor to power the house, neoglass for the windows and, of course a sattelite uplink antenna, for example. The basement would need to be poured with Hyperplast(TM) and Neo-Concrete(TM), and naturally they couldn't do THAt themselves, but generally speaking, it would be their home, built by them – and they would even have some cash left over for improvements after selling their home in Liberty-City.

Naturally, in the meanwhile they would live in an old discarded cargo container, but it would only take a few weeks until it was all done, and then they would have a home of their own.

Congratulations. Starting today, you are not just any people. You are fulfilling the Allanean Dream – as befitting Freemen and Pioneers.

[three months later]

"Look, Johnny! It's Daddy!” - Martha heaved the baby up in her arms, and it reached towards the window.

Their house stood in a forest clearing, fashioned from trees not unlike those around it. Pacing towards the house was Simon Jenkins.

He had become a bit stronger in the past few months, it seemd, and his pasty-white programmer's complexion was already beginning to take up a brownish hue. Slinged on his shoulder was a small hunter's lasgun – Damn it, Simon. Why can we not be like a normal family? Two people and only five guns in the house! What is Johnny going to shoot when he gets older? A water pistol?, and strapped to his belt was a hunting pouch, filled, Martha knew, with the local equivalent for rabbits.

He was different now, she noticed, stronger from within too – as if building his own house and killing his own food on a regular basis had done something to improve him. She had read about such things, but never truly believed it- until now.

"Hey Johnny! Daddy's home!” - shouted Simon. - “Guess what's for dinner today?”

The baby made some noncomittant noise. Naturally, it wa too young to talk. But Simon took it in his arms, smiling happily to it. “Rabbit! That's right, honey, it's rabbit!”

"They're not really rabbits, Simon.” - Martha noted -”They're blue and have six legs.”

But they both knew that that didn't really matter.

Given our concern over the quality and quantity of real estate available to Allaneans in this sad day and age, we are continuing our investment into the process of interstellar migration, and into the improvement of the lot of Allaneans. Having begun improvements on the various planets of the Athens system, we have also purchased a planetary system, known as RS-1, from the Cerberus Alliance. We have received knowledge that one of the planets of the system will become Earthlike after some terraforming, and we are currently designing a terraforming regimen for the planet, centered primarily around creating a breathable athmosphere and topsoil capable of accomodating Earth plants and animals. After its completion, the system will be renamed as Pendragon, after Arthur's father.

In other news, pirate attacks have been reported in the orbits of several Outer Rim systems monitored by the Foundation, and we believe that Klingon pirates, refugees from the former Klingon Empire, or other sources, are responsible. As such the Foundation announces a $10,000 bounty for every pirate, dead or alive, and further $25,000,000 bounty for every ship destroyed or captured.

The Foundation has also donated $500,000,000 in campaign contributions to various election campaigns, to ensure the quick opening of the remaining undeveloped Libertas Sector worlds to colonization.

The Terran Federation, shall offer to sell you four systems, at a trillion F$ each, mostly class M worlds one system has a jungle planet, they are of no use to us, as we have other worlds within our space and other parts of the galaxy .

We are happy to report the signing of our new deal with the Fedral Union. Briefly speaking, we have purchased four systems possessed with habitable worlds, of which three are regular Earthlike worlds (M-class worlds in the parlance of the inhabitants of the union) and one is a death world ('jungle world' in local designation). We will hereby name the systems after various poets and their works.

1.The jungle world will be named Akela, and the sun it revolves around will be hereby labeled Kipling.
2.Similarly the other worlds will be named Shakespeare, Byron, and Marlowe, and the worlds, for reasons beyond the obvious, will be named Elsinor, Juan, and Faustus respectively.
3.We will make available, on the surfaces of each of the planets referenced in paragraph 2 of this document, one million 160-acre homesteads for the use of private citizens, and furthermore, a Nivensky Foundation Biological Experimentation Facility [NR-BEF] will be constructed on Akela.
4.Interstellar gates will be installed at each system.
5.Provisions will be made with potential incorporation of the planets as Federal Territories of the United States, and then as States, on a system equivalent to that denoted in our previous releases regarding the Athens system.
6.In preparation for potential pirate raids, given previous reports of pirate activity, the Foundations will assist the settlers in the installation of portable underground orbital orbital bombardment shelters.
7.For the event of invasion, emergency weapons caches containing 10,000,000 Dornalian-made lasguns per planet will be disseminated on the surface of each planet, using regular oldtech PVC for storage of the weapons. We do not subscribe to the notion of waiting until such a time when it is necessary to bury your guns – when it's time to bury them, it's time to dig them up.

We the kewen after debating someone have something to sell, for months now a rather large and resource filled asteriod has been floating around our space, we currrently do not have the time to deal with it and it is currently interferaing in our trade routes the Rock in question is 2.3 km tall and 1 .4km wide in various directions, its core is a liquid metal fluid type thing and mant of our sensors say it may have once been part of a planet but most of the rock/asteriod/planet chuck is filled with some low level alloys and weird energy crystals, we would like to sell it for one of your big mark III big battleships , this is negotiable and haggleable.

These rocks are very common. In every asteroid belt. Just nudge it out of the way.

The Ellenwy Corporation, presently in possession of a single habitable world in the Meridia System, offers to sell these worlds to the Nivensky-Ringworld Foundation. It should be noted that the Meridia star system is far outside of the Cyprian sphere of territory, and so poses no threat to Cyprian territorial integrity when it is sold.

The Meridia system, however, is a binary star system, and the two habitable worlds wildly vary in their comfortability during what is known as the "long year", or the distance of the worlds from the second, smaller sun. For approximately eight hundred of every thousand years, the world is earthlike in most aspects, however, for the last two hundred, the second sun is far closer to Meridia than it is normally, and so makes the planet uncomfortable to live on around the equatorial band, but, in turn, changes the habitability of the poles equally drastically.

We desire approximately $30 trillion USD, considering the prosperous and sturdy biosphere of the world, the extremely low rate of dangerous stellar phenomena, and the relative safety of the star system, being couched between two Allanean allies, the Keluaun and Cypria.

It should be further noted that the present prefab buildings, autofactories, and starport will be included in this sale. As the Ellenwy Corporation has managed to extract all archaeological information from the sites on this planet (a sentient race rising to primacy on Meridia some millions of years ago, but were driven to extinction by mutual nuclear exchange, as well as the arrival of the secondary star), we have no interest remaining on the world.

Dubbed Titan, each ship is able to create worlds out of massive clouds of interstellar dust, or even just out of a similar volume of water. They come with 100,000 samples of DNA for every plant and animal to have ever walked the surface of the Earth, along with similarly "handed" creatures and plants from all across the Multi-Verse.

We are willing to sell three of these vessels. In exchange we would require $100,000,000,000,000 and 100,000 samples of DNA for each animal and plant on worlds under your nation's control.

One world can be created in roughly three hours, longer if it is bigger than Earth Standard. And each one can be re-used multiple times. It is energy intensive, and thus we shall include seventeen subspace capacitors per Titan, which shall allow the creation of 1,071 worlds total between them. We encourage you to place a few near stars with radiation output slightly above Earth Normal to allow for mutations that can then be seeded into other worlds for maximum genetic diversity.

OOC: Yes, I do, but we have tech that we will let you use if you agree that is able to scan them very quickly and store the information in massive quantum computers, which will allow the scanning of that information in roughly seventy-two hours per planet. no rental fee either. And all of the genetics thus donated will be available in the Titan's database to be seeded upon world creation. Just a warning if you do buy them, watch out for the Tyranosaurs, they can be nasty, though not as bad as the Smilodons...

We sadly do not have this information, as the ships where purchased, and are not original technology. We can introduce you to the Humans of Universe-15 from whom we purchased them, and we can sell you the technology for the Dimension Gates through which we conduct trade, but we do not own the rights to produce Titan Class Vessels.

Dimensional Gates come in two sizes.
Stargate Size = 3,000,000,000,000 for the Domestic Production Rights
Supergate Size = 27,000,000,000,000 for the Domestic Production Rights

The Supergate sized D-Gate can fit a Titan Class Vessel through easily.

OOC question: You realise you're actually performing an operation that is actually going to release energy, right? You need energy to lift something up in a gravity well, not to drop it. Indeed, literally astronomical amounts of energy will be released... and as you obviously have some way of getting rid of that, you may as well tap a fraction of it to recharge these 'capacitors' which would give it essentially infinite uses until the parts wear out, if that's even a problem.
