Empire Airlines, It's in the Plane

Empire Airlines is the largest and premier airline of the Greater Empire of Atruria. Since the bankruptcy of Royal Atrurian Airways (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=459684&highlight=royal+atrurian+airways), Empire Airlines has also been the flag carrier of Atruria. Internationally renowned, Empire Airlines is one of only two airlines to ever hold the prestigious ten-star rating from the Civil Aviation Office of the Atrurian government and has continuously been named "Airline of the Year" by the Royal Society of Aviation since 1997.

As an airline, Empire Airlines' revenues come primarily from scheduled international passenger flights, which the airline makes to a great deal of nations around the globe. However, through a multitude of wholly-owned subsidiaries, the Empire Air Corporation also extends into similar sectors of the industry, including: domestic carriers, cargo delivery services, air catering, airport management, and many other related fields.

Security
Though not at all required under Atrurian law, Empire Airlines has chosen to utilize very stringent security procedures on the ground and aboard aircraft. Though often controversial, these methods have earned Empire Airlines a reputation as one of the world's most secure airlines.

Passengers are generally asked to report two hours before departure on international flights, and one and a half on domestic flights. In Atruria, the airline co-operates heavily with local military, intelligence, and police, who patrol and protect Empire Airlines terminals and locations at home. All international Atrurian Air terminals around the world are heavily monitored by plain-clothes agents from our subsidiary security firm, Empire Protective Services. EPS-hired agents come from military backgrounds and are heavily screened and trained before assignments and, as per standard operating procedure, EPS agents acquire firearms through legal means in their country of employment. Sometimes, however, this is not possible, thus EPS also utilizes an array of non-lethal weapons.

Though national governments may perform their own security procedures outside of Empire Airlines areas, Empire Airlines insists on maintaining its own security checks inside its terminals and gates. EPS agents screen all checked luggage before it reaches the plane. Additionally, carry-on baggage and items are made to go through detectors, while passengers walk through metal and substance detectors. Passengers all undergo five-minute interviews with EPS staff and their passports and boarding passes are inspected thoroughly. Their information is cross-referenced with databases from the Royal Secret Service, the Atrurian Metropolitan Police, HM Office of General Inquiry, and a host of other agencies.

Aboard planes, plain-clothes EPS agents sit among passengers, carrying concealed arms. All are required to have experience in an elite combat unit in the military, and are trained extensively in hand-to-hand combat. The cockpits in Empire Airlines planes have double doors for protection. The first set of doors can only be unlocked with a keypad code. The second pair of doors can only be opened from the inside of said cockpit. All planes are now equipped with an infrared countermeasures system, to prevent attacks by anti-aircraft weapons systems.

Sevices
Though some of our flying subsidiaries do differ, the bulk of Empire Airlines flights offers three distinct classes. These are: Premier Class, Executive Class, and Standard Class.

All Standard Class seats have personal television screens, tray tables, literature pockets, footrests, adjustable headrests, and adjustable reclining seats, and offer in-seat power. They feature a total of thirty-five movie and television channels, as well as sixty pre-recorded radio channels and twenty-five games.

Executive Class seats are arranged in a suite-like fashion and are well-known for their fully flat reclining capabilities, lumbar support, and increased privacy. They, of course, also feature tray tables, literature pockets, footrests, and adjustable headrests. Each seat is supplied with three power outlets. The entertainment selection consists of eighty movie and television channels, one-hundred pre-recorded radio channels, and thirty games.

Premier class is especially known for its signature, completely enclosed, luxury suites. In addition to the five power outlets available, each suite houses its own mini-cinema, with a selection of over one-hundred-fifty channels for your viewing pleasure and two-hundred radio channels, with a fifty-game arcade.

Empire Airlines' pilots are mainly former Royal Air Force and Naval Air Arm fighter pilots, and are additionally all qualified graduates of the Empire Air Flight Academy. The cabin and flight crew are chosen very selectively and are specially-trained to ensure that you receive an Empire Air-brand experience.

Empire Air Catering is an Empire Airlines subsidiary and is responsible for the delectable meals and snacks served aboard Empire Airlines flights. Empire Air Catering ensures a well-rounded menu of traditional Atrurian and international cuisine, employing only the world's top chefs to create our masterpiece meals. Special orders are available upon request, for those who require meals that are vegetarian, halal, diabetic-friendly, or kosher, or have some other need or wish.

Lounges
Empire Airlines takes the greatest care in our airline lounges, providing our customers with what they require in terms of business, leisure, and meals. All Empire Airlines lounges come with a buffet of complimentary snacks, provided by Empire Air Catering, as well as several contracted restaurants and chains, and at least one bar. Rooms and cubicles, with computers and free wireless internet access, are set up and ready for those who need to work or otherwise make use of them. As well as individual televisions around every few seats and a free movie theater for our customers.

Prices for landing at Alfegan airports can be found on enquiry with the aerodrome in question.

Note that all airline pilots flying to Alfegos and Alfegan Colonies should have knowledge of airship lanes that share or cross aircraft lanes and stacking areas, and should have passed the basic Alfegan Shared Skies Test so that they are able to fly safely alongside the airships that often use the aerodromes alongside standard traffic. All aircraft flying in Alfegan Airspace must be equipped with Ground Proximity and Collision Warning systems, and must stay in contact with Sol'Vi National air traffic control at all times if flying in mainland Alfegos.

Aerospace Logistics Corporation is one of the world's leading airlines, incorporating major aircraft and spacecraft research, development and production facilities, airports in multiple nations, and a fleet of over a million aircraft, ranging from bush aviation to inter-regional airliners.

We would like to establish service exchange with your airlines. All of our airports will be open to you at no fees other than provided services cost, as long as our aircraft are subject to the same policy.

Our largest airports include:

Hub International Airport - right in the heart of one of our key customer nations, Vault 10 this airport serves thousands of planes per day, from private flights to the largest airliners and cargo aircraft. The demand for air transport in this nation is immense.

SF Skylines - An international airport on the very edge of the country, serving both as a first destination for immigrants into Vault 10 and as a hub for transoceanic flights.

Arroyo Transfer - Next to a low-cost bulk electronics producer conglomerate of Arroyo-Klamath, this airfield serves mostly cargo flights. Direct contact to it can provide unmatched business opportunities.

Broken Hills - Predominantly military, this airbase also serves high-security escorted flights, from carrying enriched uranium from Broken Hills Mines, to shipping of combat aircraft.

Cambridge Airport - In the British Londinium, this airport serves mostly passenger flights, and it served as the only link for citizens during the invasion.

NCR West - In New California Republic, near its capital, this airport serves major passenger traffic from this conservative, but highly business-active republic.

We will provide complete access to all other of our airports as well.

With best regards,
Leonard Smith.

From The Department of Transportation:

Greetings,
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to land at non-military airports. Passenger as well as cargo planes may land but they will have to go through a security check point before the cargo or passengers are allowed to leave the plane. There are some guidelines that all international flights must follow.
1. No international flights are to enter The Clean Zone. This is the capitol. They can however land at airports that are about a 5 minutes drive away form the capitol.
2. All airlines must ask for ID of passengers and check it with our "DO NOT ENTER" list which is a list of people who have been deported before or are not allowed to enter Talentay.

Thank you for accepting this agreement. While we're at it, there's another offer we have. Our company would like to establish its own hub airport in the nation of Atruria, with an option for similar arrangement in Vault 10.

An own airport is needed to our company for multiple reasons. First, it will be equipped with hydrogen production and refuelling facilities, allowing us to further extend the range of our hydrogen-powered intercontinental airliner fleet. Also, it will serve as a hub for passengers on very long distance multi-leg flights, allowing them to easily change flights and rest between them.

For you, this airport will offer additional long-range flights, and of course the ability to rent and use our airliners as needed. Your airport in Vault 10 would similarly give our people easier access to your flights, and greater choice of service. For instance, our company's signature offers are the "10-minute boarding" system and minimum-cost flights with self-service, which would cater to your less well-off people and those in hurry; while a lot of our people would be interested in your safer procedures and luxurious flights.

Territory within these airports, as usually, would be considered temporarily international, i.e. not subject to local laws (but subject to company regulations), taxes (for duty-free businesses), checks, and other inconveniences. Customs would be located at the exit and entry of the airport territory. Thus people can travel without worrying about legal compatibility except with their ultimate destination. Of course, the airport would be fully shared between the airlines as needed.

We would accept transfer of an operating airport, an unused airport or airbase, or even just ground for construction.
For you, we would offer the currently under-utilized Vault City South Airport, near the Vault City and Gecko, and a part of the Shady Sands Transfer, people where, as our studies show, would be most interested in your extended service.

With best regards,
Leonard Smith.

East Zamonia's Department of Military Operations

At this time, Empire Airlines maintains a general policy against putting its assets, especially the lives of its employees in danger, thus we will not hire out our pilots or airliners to militaries, carte blanche. That said, if you want to contact us for individual operations, particularly logistical ones, as long as it does not negatively impact Atruria or its allies, we will consider offers.

Our government wishes to negotiate a more comprehensive bilateral air services agreement with the Greater Empire of Atruria once an official mechanism is established.

You can contact the Civil Aviation Office of Her Majesty's Government with specific offers for a larger-scale agreement with the Greater Empire on a whole.

We would accept transfer of an operating airport, an unused airport or airbase, or even just ground for construction.

We are most intrigued by this offer and would like to accept it. Empire Airlines would like to offer Aerospace Logistics the Lanseria Central Airport. Located on the outskirts of Lanseria, a suburb of Atruria's economic center of Johannesburg, LCA is also conveniently located only an hour's train ride from the political capital of Salisbury and two hours away from the financial hub of Kimberley. Still currently under the control of Empire Airlines, LCA is a formerly fully-functioning international airport, which was closed after direct flights to nearly all of Lanseria's locations became available at other nearby airports and maintenance of the facility was considered financially unsound. The Empire Air Corporation is currently restoring the airport to its former status, and would be happy to exchange this for Vault City South Airport. The Empire Air Corporation will certainly appreciate incorporating the airport into our corporate holdings, with Atrurian-standard security regulations.

Yours,
Board of Directors,
Empire Airlines
