Subject: General Secretary (Head of State) Nominations

It is with great anticipation that the United Socialist States of Availia (USSA) announces the nominees from each of the five major political parties. This is done in an effort to educate not only the citizens of Availia, but the Wysteria region abroad. That being said, the following have officially been nominated by their respective parties:

*In no particular order

Center Moderate Party (CMP) - Desmond Smith

Social Democrats (SD) - Hal Bliker

Conservative Party (CP) - Valerie Caldrof

United Marxist Party (UMTP) - John Steedback

Equality. Environment. Essential. (EEE) - Alan Dedor

These are the major parties. There are other smaller parties, but it has been agreed (before the Senate elections) by all registered parties that those who received the most votes in the recent Senate election would be noted by the State.

Each party has been notified that they must submit their official platform by 0:00 on Sunday, May 18, 2008.

As requested by the EEE, the nature of this election will now be posted. It is as follows.

Elections for General Secretary shall be decided by a popular vote. It is the State's belief that the population is evenly distributed and no specific region(s) would be neglected. If in the future it is deemed necessary to hold a different type of election, then it shall be voted on by the National Representative House (NRH), the Federal Assembly (FA), and the Senate before it is passed. The General Secretary has the power to propose this change, but has no vote in this situation.

Elections will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008, and Sunday, May 18, 2008. The current General Secretary, Ralph Valcon, will yield his position to the General Secretary Elect on Sunday, June 1, 2008.

The State is allowing for three (3) nations to observe elections, make sure they are fair, and give recommendations. Applications should be posted here and all will be considered by the State.

As requested by the population at large, a public copy of the Constitution of the State will be made available within the upcoming weeks. It will be posted by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Paul DeCross.

For State and State,

Mr. Gordon Havker
Minister of Democratic Affairs
