Marcuda

Good Evening this John Aiger of MBC reporting, I'm standing in front of the Senate House, where senators from different states of Marcuda have been in serious debate for the last 48 hours and have still not resolved the Gridlock on the passing of the "Moralities and Abortion Act"
The disputes over this Act have caused major controversy in recent years over the treatment of Homosexual marriages and Abortion. Effectively this bill will write into the national Consitution of Marcuda banning Homosexual Marriage and Banning All Abortions except for when a mothers life is endanger or due to rape.
President Artuis Burrill is supporting this Act backed also by the support of Minority of Republicans in the Senate. This act has been protested on the streets causing riots and violence in recent months and Democrat Majority in the Senate have vowed not to allow this act to pass.
However, it appears due to the the Gridlock in power and the refusal for the Supreme Court to reside over this case, that the dispute will not be settled. To make matters worse states such as New Hope, South Kinston, and Monmoth have threatened to secede from Marcuda if the Act passes.
Clearly, the President and a majority of the Senate do ont want this to occur and have threatened to quash any attempt to Secede with any method necessary, including with force. Regarding the Act and the threats of Seccession President Burrill is about to address the nation. Here he is right now.
Good Afternoon, My Fellow Marcudians I address you with a heavy heart, our controversy is on a precipice of controversy that threatens to divide us as a nation and a people. The disputes regarding the Moralties and Disabilites Act will be resolved, I have assurances from both parties in the senate that they are working on a compromise.
As to the threats of seccession, let me say unequivically that we are a United Nation and it is my job as President to keep us United whatever the costs, therefore any threat of seccession will be dealt with quickly and with all means at my disposal.
I ask our Citizens to be patient and realize that although this nation may not agree on every issue together we are one people and must not be divided.
Thank You
We have just heard statements from President Burrill, but as he was speaking we received through the wire that the Jonova Legislature has voted to Secede from Marcuda and have shut down all federal buildings and kicked out all federal agents and employees from their posts. If this isn't a signal we are headed for civil war, I don't know what is, apparently, the Jonova's national guard reserves along with its coast guard has agreed to form the new Jonova's Centrist Military. Jonova is known to have one of the largest naval ports in Marcuda and effectively the Jonova military has captured the 3 aircraft carriers at port along with over 50 other naval craft.
