1.0 History
1.1 5000 - 4000 BHP Beginnings

The history of the Shakal as a people begins with the rise of early civilization in what is know considered the Shakal Empire. At the close of the sixth millenia BHP the early inhabitants of the Shakal isles remained hunter-gatherer societes. It was not until around 4876 BHP that the Shakal began to settle the modern heartland of the central third. The population then founded the oldest city in the entire empire Alexandria, in 4400 BHP. The city slowly expanded to reach around 300 citzens by 4200 BHP. After this a plague is said to have ripped through the city killing off half its inhabitants. For two hundred years the population regrew and reached 800 in 4000 BHP.


1.2: 4000 BHP - 3000 BHP Population Growth

The population of the Empire grew in at a massive rate for the next three hundred years. In total the Shakal Isles already housed some 200,000 inhabitants. The remaining millenium followed a course of slowly development into several small fishing villages which flourished along the inner coast of the east and west thirds. The greatest population was centered on an oblique from Alexandria southeast for some hundred miles then a sudden change south west for another stretch. This comparitly small area housed some 20,000 inhabitants by 3098 BHP.


1.3: 3000 BHP - 2000 BHP Taming Of The Hekel River

After the growth of the population communal farming began to shape the economies of the villages. The older city of Alexandria controlled the mouth of the (at that time endless) Hekel river. The river stretched thousands of kilometers into the wild where the more 'civilized' peoples had yet to venture for fear of divine reprimand. In an effort to show its mastery the citizens of Alexandria began to build crude levees along the length and used the river for irrigation allowing them to outproduce the surrounding area.


1.4: 2000 BHP - 1000 BHP Rise Of The Conglomerate

The city of Alexandria became a HUB of trade and commerce around 2400 BHP but it was not until 1925 BHP that it finally grew strong enough to begin founding what would one day become the Alexandrian Conglomerate. It was under Citizen Carl that the expansion began. He was elected by council as the leader of the city to help control its now rabid crime and squalor. With a population of 5,000 this was no easy task. With just a few dozen would-be police he began to assist in public safety. By 1913 BHP the campaign had been a huge sucess. People felt safe at home with Alexandrian warriors outside walking the streets. With this power Citizen Carl then answered calls for help from the nearby cities of Anioc and Loi. The two cites were also cleared of most serious crimes by 1890 BHP. Citizen Carl then had the two cities appoit him there central minister, or mayor. With this he realized he could do the same with better trained men. The result was the Alexandrian Militia, the first military force on the Shakal Isles. This small militia of fishers and farmers numbering at around 200 followed Carl from coastal village to villaige essentially taking them over in a peaceful way. By the time of Citizen Carl's demise in 1977 BHP the entire Hekel delta area lay under total or partial control of the Alexandrian conglomerate.

The subsequent leaders of the conglomerate continued what Carl had begun and in a short 100 years carved out an 'Empire' similar in size to modern Spain. The fast expansion forced the rag-tag militia to be increased in number and skill. The outer edges of the Conglomerate were constantly raided by outside cities for food and wealth. The force grew to 1,000 in number and managed to police the area with only marginal effectiveness until 1492 BHP.

This year marked the formation of a new kind of work, mercinaries. The raiders, ever growing in number and speed could not be kept in check by the small Alexandrian force. As such the massive wealth of the city was used to hire sturdy hunters to fight temporarily. They did so as long as the pay lasted and proved equal to the raiders. The booming population of the Conglomerate in 1220 BHP is estimated at 50,000. Although historical sources name numbers as high as 500,000 this would be quite immpossible unless counting the various farm animals also. The Conglomerate grew complacent believeing it had dominion over the entire world, since even the men that went as far north as the jaws heard stories telling of the might of Alexandria.


1.5: 1000 BHP - 800 BHP Triad

This period in Shakal history marks the point at which the military gains ever more power. In 998 BHP a competitor to Alexandria appeared in the Celem coalition. Basically dozens of tribes banded together for protection against the now supreme power of Alexandria. They managed to organize themselves without the Alexandrian's notice and create for themselves a secure frontier. The rivally quickly grew heated due to the now long held title of Alexandrian supremecy on the area. Skrimishes quickly broke out and the first "war" ever on Shakal lands took place from 994 BHP to 960 BHP for an entire generation the sides fought eventually sowing huge amounts of discord amongst there own people. In response the citizenry in both nation rebelled, in Celem it was quickly crushed, but in Alexandria the peasants secured for themselves a small province isolated and opposite in direction of Celem which meant that the Amexandrians would have to split there already weakeaned forces to crush them. They grew east into the unexplored lands there finding in some of the mountains gold and silver. In 955 BHP the Federation of Quepek was offically recognized by Alexandria. The war ensured the survivial of the Celem coalition for the next two hundred years.


1.6: 800 BHP - 600 BHP Consolidation

It wasnt until 798 BHP that another conflict broke out. This time Quepek and Celem were allies against Alexandria. The total population of which had now risen to around 250,000. The wealth of Alexandria quickly rallied raiders to assist and a small cavalry army was gathered for a speedy attack into Celem. Thinking it a ruse the generals of Celem led there army north towards Alexandria opening there home base and supplies for the attack. Quepek took until 795 BHP to gather an army of 20,000 with which to invade Alexandria. It was defeated in three sucessive engagements only two day apart each and reduced to one quarter its original number. Alexandria razed the Celem countryside to the ground and secured a quick victory over them by 790 BHP. Following the destruction of Celem Quepek fought on half-heartedly for three years before it collapsed in battle at Dedring Pass. Alexandrian Hoplites routed the Quepek light infantry and pushed to the capital of New Zagreb. Quepek was crushed out of existance by 780 BHP.

After the "Second War" the Alexandrian Conglomerate grew even larger. With the newly secured lands well tamed General Kilo led an army of 30,000 men, 1,450 horses, 50 Elephants, and 1,500 whores west to explore. His pratice of taking the whores with the army allowed near instant population spread through the conquered lands. It also kept morale up. After his thirty year campaign ended in 704 BHP the Conglomerate had tripled in size and almost precisly dobled in population. The south border was as far down as the Great Mountains and had reached the Western Sea. Midway up the west jaw was the limit if Alexandrian northern expansion. In comparison it was similar in size to the empire of Alexander The Great. The next three generations remained at peace coming into contact with the eastern counterpart of the Conglomerate. The Daranan Empire. Ruled by an Emperor that wielded unstoppable power over his vast legions of swordsmen Alexandria was alarmed that another such nation could even exist. A confrontation was inevitable.


1.7: 600 BHP - 550 BHP Great Daranan War

As the century wore on Alexandria began to study the Daranans and found that they fought much more fluidically and in greater numbers than the Alexandrians themselves. Historical accounts from this area assign the total population of the Shakal isles to around 15 million, only 4 of which were in Alexandrian lands, plus another 10 in the lands of Darano. A mere million spread over the isles were untamed by the two empires. To protect there vast territories Darano could amass an army estimated at 2 million men (However this has been deemed near worthless due to lack of evidence which supports the still impressive claim of 500,000) Alexandria, in a fully mobilized and ready state could muster no more than 80,000 - 100,000 in three months. The Daranan military also used what is similar to that of the Roman Legion while Alexandria relied upon its heavy Phalanx and ultra light cavalry for victory. War began in 600 BHP because of a minor border incident. Almost instantly three Daranan armies of 50,000 men a piece bore down on Alexandria from three angles. Due to having only 20,000 men with which to repel them General Consul Protem fled to and fro trying to avoid battle, he suceeded in his goal but lost huge tracts of land. By 598 BHP over half of Alexandria had been captured and 200,000 men stood before the gates of the Golden city of Alexandria. Protem commanded 45,000 men when the seige began and held out due to local Alexandrian sea power. In 590 BHP after eight years of seige the Daranan army was hit by a plague that killed over 145,000 men. (It has often been speculated that the plague was really one of the original Shakal hybrids that fed off the bodies spreading the rabid disease to each bitten and so on until morning when the sun killed them) Protem made a sortie against the weakened enemy and routed them taking no prisoners. While the Daranans licked there wounds Protem re-occupied all of former Alexandria which took near twenty years. He died while en route to face a new Daranan army of 140,000 men aiming to conquer. The army turned back for unknwon reasons in 560 BHP for unknown reasons and never returned. Alexandria was saved by mere luck. In 550 BHP a treaty was finally signed between the two powers ending the war.


1.8: 550 BHP - 400 BHP Expansionism

After the long war the Shakal isles began to settle. The barbarians of the south formed several small kingdoms akin to ancient Greece in culture. The Alexandrians in this time began to study greater naval engineering and focus on controlling the dozens of cultures it now engulfed. For a hundred years the only conflict was the political war between the pagan bishops and the Alexandrian Pro Consul. In Darano life went on as normal until 434 BHP when an earthquake killed 220,000 people.


1.9: 400 BHP - 200 BHP Age Of Science

It wasnt until the Alexandrian Conglomerate was graced with the brilliant scientist Wejolnomar in 393 BHP that the world began to change. He began inventing at 13 and is credited with the invention of the helicopter at just 16. By his 20th year he was in charge of the Alexandrian medical service, he created a very early and rough concept for human cloning by the age of 23. One of his best, and most sucessful inventions was Alexandrian purge, a skin devouring disease in napalm form, he was given 10,000 Gold coins for the invention the day before his marraige to a local shopkeeps daughter at 27. He spent thirty years developing and creating devices for Alexandria. His son although lacking his raw skill, was a bright young man and continued his fathers legacy after the legendary inventors death in 299 BHP. His son is most notable credited with improving his fathers designs and passed away from age in 275 BHP.


1.10: 200 BHP - 190 BHP First Encounter

Alexandria wanted more land in 199 BHP and began to explore north of the Great River. Covered with thousands of acres of huge lumbering trees standing over 100 feet tall on average the sun fought to reach the ground. General Varinticus led a small force of 25,000 men to claim the lands not knowing its full extent. The lands long untamed was north and center of both Darano and Alexandria. Its central position made it a wantabel gain, but the thick forest was to difficult to explore with so many other issues in the Conglomerate. A year later Price Dex of Darano led an army of 75,000 men to secure as much of these lands as possible before the Alexandrians gained the strong defensive area. After three months the dairies and records of the time show that an anomoly had occured, not a single life had been encountered, no animals, no humans, no birds, no creatures of any form existed in the forest. Insects were even hard to come by. The Alexandrian men losing faith in there commander began to grow superstitious of the place and its dead silence at all times. The Daranan force fared better well accustommed to the jungles of the south, the Prince knew a danger lurked in the woods. For centures legends of a creature in the woods existed describing a being that could grasp the moon and smash armies with it. After four months, on the 22nd of October Alexandrians made contact with the Daranan forces, each side agreed to leave the woods forever the next day. However that night Prince Dax was woken by a noise in the woods. He opened his tent flap and noticed that not a single one of his men remained. Even the dozen guards around his tent were gone, there armor cleaved clean in two and there bodies missing. Blood littered the area. Dax ran to Varinticus and woke him. He had the identical occurence in his camp. Both men immediatly headed for the closest civilized way, a small village on the edge of Alexandria, some 400 miles away. The same night as they rode Prince Dax turned his head to see if the Alexandrian General remained follwing and noticed his absence, only his armor remained, cleaved in two, atop his horse which had been tied to his own to ensure neither got lost. With this scene Dax is said to have gone mad and ran about screaming and yelling until he was also killed. This was the first encounter with the Shakal, a race of near superhuman beings that were deemed so evil that no creature ever even dared live in there woods. To survive they drank the blood of there victims and used the body as lure for other animals. For some reason however, from this point on the Shakal made themselves known as a simple tribe in the forest, mixing and learning with the Alexandrians and Daranans such as any other barbarians.


1.11: 190 BHP - 100 BHP Second Daranan War

After the Daranan prince died in the Shakal forest the Alexandrians assumed the Daranans commited the crime. As such a new war broke out between the two empires. This time less was achieved in the first fifty years than the all the wars of history combined. Only skirmishes took place on land. At sea only 4 ships were sunk. It was at this point in 140 BHP that the Shakal were sought out. The Alexandrian General Mistel went to visit the Shakal people to ask for there service as mercinaries. They refused and instead offered Darano weapons, such as the composite bow, which were unknwon to both the Alexandrians and Darananas at the time. The Daranan forces quickly beat the Alexandrians back and werent pushed out of there lands until 120 BHP when the Alexandrian forces crushed the Daranans at Requ. The war swung back and forth inconclusivly until a peace treaty was established in 100 BHP.


1.12: 100 BHP - 35 BHP Stagnation Of Alexandria

After the long and costly war with Darano the coffers of Alexandria were nearly dry. The war cost what would be the equivalent of 22 trillion modern American dollars. In response taxes sky rocketed and traders ventured to Darano to trade goods. With the overall loss of income the Empire began to stress and crack. The provinces and there 40 million citizens became semi-independant states that were ruled by there own kings and only belonged to Alexandria when it suited them. This left the Alexandrian Empire with half its previous population and 1/2 of its farmlands. Darano was not untouched by the strife of the era. From an enormous population of around 144 million the number fell to 135 million by 80 BHP. The massive population could not be supported by the limited farmlands of the east. After another thirty years Darano had begun to settle down into what would have been a long golden age as Alexandria began to collapse on itself. Rioters and rebels took to the streets daily killing and engaging in battle with the Alexandrian military, which occasionaly joined the rioters. By 35 BHP the Alexandrian Empire existed in name only, hundreds of smaller kingdoms now took its place (although they remained in an anti-Darano alliance). The Pro Consul and the city of Alexandria itself was still a large powerful kingdom, easily strong enough to must 50,000 men, but was a shadow of its former self.


1.13: 35 BHP - 1 BHP Lost Chances

In 33 BHP the Shakal tribesman began to worry the two Empires around them. All Shakal mercinaries returned to the forests that were there home and were not heard of for long periods of time. Raids struck into the neighbouring lands that were cracking the already over stressed Alexandrian military machine. Darano, on the other hand looked upon the raids into its lands as a sort of chalalnge to what was now its supremacy over the known world. The largest raid took place in 8 BHP some 500 Shakal horseman stormed an Alexandrian fort housing around 1800 troops. The Shakal routed the enemy and took enough stores to create a mile long baggage train back to the forest. The Pro Consul of Alexandria at the time, Jimon Hess wished to send all available forces to crush the Shakal. He began to muster an army of 5,000 men. When he set out from Alexandria proper he was assasinated by a foreign trademan angry about the large taxes imposed upon him. This is considered among the top defining moments in Shakal history. For if the invasion of Shakal lands had taken place they could have very well been so badly mauled that the horrors about to befall the Shakal isles would not have taken place. The Shakal, now led by the first Shakal Emperor Zalord, began to prepare an army for invasion of Alexandria. By 2 BHP a mere 20,000 men had been gathared. The small number made Darano ignore the force knowing it was heading for Alexandria, the second greatest moment in Shakal history is this point.

1.14: 0 HP - 70 HP Holy Purge

Zalord turned his men towards Darano in 1 BHP and decalred a "Holy Pruge to cleanse the worthless from the face of the Earth to restore the power of honour and courage over the world." The force moved totally on horseback with unparelled speed. In four days the force covered 300km and crushed the Daranan garrisons in its path. Along the way all were killed, or sided with the Shakal. Some 5,000 were dead by January 7th, after just one week. After another two weeks the Shakal horseman began to head north east up the eastern horn of the Empire. The Daranan Empire began to gather a force of 33,000 men to crush the Shakal. On February 2nd the forces met outside the town of Guj. After a short battle where Zalord claimed an easy victory the Shakal chased the enemy and the entire force, all 33,000 were killed. The Daranan Emperor was so alarmed that he didnt order another force to take to the field to stop the Shakal until the fall. By this time the Shakal had killed 80,000 beings in either combat or pillaging villages, as fall began to approach Zalord and the Shakal army had grown to 32,000. The 8,000 new recruits were all foot troops that would form the front lines in the battle with the Daranan army of 42,000 that had assembeled to meet them. After an hour the Shakal converts broke rank and fled or sided with Darano. Zalord lead a retreat with his troops and encircled the enemy crushing them with only 1,800 Shakal casualties. By the end of what is now the year 1 HP 400,000 were dead.

In the year 2 HP the Shakal began to move deeper and deeper into Daranan lands up the eastern horn. On the way some 5,000 Daranans joined with them in the campaign. These men were used as light troops that fought on foot. On March 3rd 2 HP the Daranan Empire gathered the scraps of its two former armies and added mercinaries to the number managing to gather 25,000 more reliable men before the Shakal. The victory once again eluded them but the Daranan people were still with them and switched sides again. Zalord ordered his cavalry to rout and hunt all the enemy force until it was wiped off the map. Another six months passed as Zalord led his men through the Eastern horn wiping out the Daranan citizens. By the end of the year 800,000 were dead. It was in early 3 HP that the Daranan Empire alloted a large plot of land to the Shakal army, now 30,000 strong in the eastern horn. In these lands lived 300,000 Daranans that were killed off before most could flee. One million citizens and soldiers were dead by August of 3 HP. Zalord now settled the open lands with the Shakal soldiers. They remained solitary and allowed the population to grow. By 8 HP Zalord mustered an army of 40,000 men and women and headed towards the major Daranan city of Lelex on the tip of the Eastern horn. On the 700km trip another 350,000 people were killed. Once at the city it was invested by the Shakal who took the tri walled city in a night and a day thanks to there use of tossing the corpses of 5,000 dead Daranans over the walls. The city gave in and all of its 150,000 citizens and 2,500 soldiers were killed. As the summer went of Zalord headed south now towards the Daranan capital. With an army of just 40,000 he met no opposition until he came within 500km of the city. This mad ethe citizens of Darano show contempt for there leader as it meant that the Shakal had free reign to liquidate some 600,000 of them on the journey. Over 4 million were fleeing to the south and to Alexandria hoping to escape the Shakal. Zalord stopped for the winter of 9/10 HP 480 km north of the city of Darano itself. The total deaths from the war had reached 3 million.

During the winter the Daranan army gathered and marched towards the Shakal force. The Daranan army was mainly composed of vetrans and mercinaries. However a large part meant to compose the screening force was conscripts. Seeing this Zalord led his men in a charge directly at the center of the enemy craking the screen and ambushing the main force inflicitng a sharp defeat on them. However, due to the -18 degree celsius cold Zalord retired back to his winter camp until spring would arrive. On March 1st of the year 10 HP he led out his army of 40,000 against the Daranan force, some 80,000 fighting men. Behind them an unheard of army was gathering strength. The influx of seven million refugees from the north allowed the Daranans to gather the men to fight and prtoect the capital. Zalord suffered a defeat at the hands of Daranan General Hiqu on March 17/18th losing 4,000 men. This battle bought time for the Daranans. Zalord resumed the march in early April and fought his way through three seperate screening forces of 5,000 men over six days that only served to delay him. On April 23rd Zalord reached a point 200km north of Darano. He was halted by the defences constructed by General Hiqu and was forced to retire with 4,000 more losses. Three days later he flanked the defence force of 45,000 and forced them into a rout towards their capital with 35,000 losses. Zalord raced and came to see the city on May 3rd. Before it he also seen an army of tents so unmatched in size that he simply cursed and ordered the men to charge down. General Hiqu began to ready his men as the Shakal horseman came rolling down the tri-hills upon his 200,000 soldiers and 1.3 million armed peasants. The Shakal force was to quick and swept into the Daranan morass in a wedge formation causing a penetration that was confirmed by eye witness accounts at 1500m deep! The Shakal attack routed several peasant units breaking them into routs in the direction of there advancing forces. They began to panic and attacked there own men causing confusion that not even the skilled General Hiqu could stop. He ordered the soldiers to hold fast in a strong line and cut down anything that came at them. After an hour the Shakal were back being pressed by the peasants who had regained composure and became more resiliant. At night torches were brought out by the Daranans making the battle swing in Shakal favour as they were natural night fighters and used bows to take out torchbears before attacking the men around them. By morning General Hiqu was forced to pull back by the Shakal breakthrough and subsequent encirclement of many of his resting units.

The Shakal forces also pulled back some 2km. Zalord had suffered much less than he had expected, 5,000 men compared against 125,000 Daranans. He allowed his men to rest until nightfall when he abandoned camp and went to Hiqu's rear. The ambush was carried out just before dawn routing 300,000 men and killing 50,000 more. Hiqu began to fall back in good order towards more of his men hoping to draw Zalord in. Instead Zalord ordered his men to use fire arrows on the massive camp setting it ablaze. In the confusion only the men directly under Hiqu himself were able to escape without being drawn into the melee against there allies. By nightfall around 1 million men remained to face 20,000 Shakal. It was this night that the conscirpts ran. Two hundred thousand broke off and left for the south to meet with there friends and family and worry about there lives later. Zalord kept up small and fast harassing attacks on the large force making small groups break off each time. After another 100,000 Daranan casualties 300,000 men broke away and fled in all directions.

Hiqu was forced to attack, against his better judgement, with his weak and untried troops. 400,000 men remained under his command. He advanced on the Shakal camp and found it empty. Hiqu immediatly retired to the city of Darano itself sealing him and his army inside alongside 5 million citizens. It was not until the next day that Zalord appeared and invested one side of the city. The Daranans were afraid to go out the other side on the forst day allowing Zalord time to rest and regroup before the attack began. On May 15th he began the attack throwing the corpses over the walls into the city. After a day no major attack was made and the Daranan citizens fled to the south. Zalord broke camp and followed them with his horsemen. They ran down 1.3 million civilians and 50,000 soldiers over the next week before returning to the city with stacks of severed heads and tens of thousands of slaves. Hiqu began to grow frustrated with the Emperor as he was not allowed to leave the city and crush the much weakened Shakal force, which by now numbered only 15,000.

On May 25th the city began to grow low on supplies, it was not meant to hold such a large garrison. Hiqu finally got his wish and made a sortie on the Shakal inflicting a third defeat on Zalord causing 5,000 casualties. The next day Zalord again ambushed Hiqu casuing many of his men to surrender foolishly ending in there deaths. The Daranan General was forced to retire back into the city on the 27th of May. For three days the heads flew over the walls crushing the morale of all inside the city. Zalord enetered the city of June 1st through a gate left open by traitors hoping to survive. The Daranan force was quickly dealt with and the Emperor killed and his crown and claim to his lands taken. Hiqu surrendered to Zalord on June 3rd after burning down his own house with all his possesions inside so the Shakal could not have them. Zalord allowed him to live and the General immediatly fled to Alexandria to warn of what would come to them. Zalord remain in Darnao until new years when he began to pacify the populace of Darano. For three years he criss crossed what had become known as the Shakal Empire causing another 9 million deaths. Now some 50 million people were fleeing to Alexandria in hopes of security. By 20 HP 40 million people had died thanks to Zalord and his campaign. As the Daranan population dwindled the Shakal population rose, child birth was greatly encouraged and marraiges between a single man and nine women or vice versa was common. Alexandria did not heed Hiqu and he fled to the far north of the western horn hoping to gain support there. In 25 HP Zalord had 4 million Shakal to replace the 52 million Daranans he had liquidated.

Alexandria remained unconcerned with Shakal power and turned back many of the Daranan refugees that came seeking help. 12 million were sent away to later be killed. In 40 HP the 16 million Shakal became the dominante demographic in the Shakal Empire with only 14 million Daranans left. It was not until 56 HP that Zalord was satisfied with the state of his Empire. 73 million dead thanks to slaughter, disease, and famine. Zalord headed for Alexandria with 100,000 men in 58 HP. After meeting no major resistance from the weak Alexandrian military he continued the Holy purge razing Alexandria causing 1.5 million deaths. By 60 HP much of what was once Alexandria was under Shakal control. Only General Hiqu in the far north maintained any real resistance. The south was pacified by 64 HP and Zalord embarked on his final camapign. This time General Hiqu had fewer, and inferior troops to before and feel quickly under the Shakal advance. He won several small engagements, but lost the war. In 67 HP he was crushed at New Zagreb and surrendered again to Zalord. Again he was set free. He fled this time far south to the jungles hoping the Shakal power was not strong enough to reach him yet. Zalord headed south and ensured his place was secure by eliminating everything in his path. 7 million more died. Zalord enetered the South Jungle in July of 68 HP and defeated the rag tag army Hiqu had gathered. Hiqu finally, admitting full defeat surrendered again. Zalord ordered him be put under house arrest and watched so he could not escape. Ashamed Hiqu leapt from his window on August 18th 69 HP. This was his final resistance to the Shakal. Zalord finally passed away on December 31st 70 HP at 98 years of age leaving the Empire to his son.

The Holy Purge ended by the morning. A total of 92 million people had died. Around half of the population of the Shakal Isles. The calendar was now changed to PHP or Post Holy Purge to better and more accuratly calculate date.


1.15: 1 PHP - 200 PHP Reformation

After the change on calender Zalord's son, Fenix, was still in command of the Empire. He was handed the largest Empire the citizens of the world had yet seen, being comparable to the size of a united continental Europe. His father, though a brilliant military commander, had made many in the kingdom enemies through his harsh policies. Fenix immediatly began to heal the country. The Shakal army was re-organized. Instead of garrisons all over the country Fenix reduced the Shakal military force to 50,000 cavalry and 100,000 garrison troops. The cavalry remained in Shakal city, built three hundred years earlier, while the garrison troops were stationed in all cities of over 1,000 citizens.

Fenix also began construction of the Imperial Palace in 2 PHP. He hired chief architect Ki to manage it as he supervised the design. In 5 PHP he had the Tet marshes converted to grain fields to assist in the harvest. For ten years he did nothing but continue to rebuild the nation travelling to and fro supervising the thirty great works he had ordered built. By the time of his death in 14 PHP Fenix and his governemnt had finished only nineteen of the thirty great works. Fenix passed the Empire to his second son Xiaver. Each of the projects remain standing and employed some 500,000 civilians and 85,000 troops. The Empire was in its first golden age. Xiaver focused on lowering taxes and training the military. By 20 PHP the Shakal Cavalry force would race across the nation in just three months beginning in Shakal City, heading north up the eastern horn then back and up the western horn. The living standards rose greatly during this time. Even without the accurate Census like the modern world uses the Empire was reported to have a population of 108 million although the male to female ratio was dangerously low, 1:4. The number of children was 41 million. The figures given for economic growth were that for each person in the Empire a sum of 5 gold pieces existed. After the death of Xiaver in 60 PHP all of the thirty original great works had been finished and the population was up to 120 million. The great grandson of Zalord named Hiqu in honour of the first Emperors legendary enemy, became emperor in 86 PHP after twenty six years of rule by his older brother. His idea for the Empire was education. He established twenty schools for males in the Empire and 30 for females teaching how to raise children and care for a family. The male schools taught hunting skills and other trades of the time. After his stroke in 144 PHP Hiqu died of age.

The next of the great reformers was Ferdinand I. With his anscension to the throne he brought lower wealth at the cost of massive beyond there time reforms. The roads of the Empire were all extended and expanded. By the records of the Imperial Library 2500 km of roadsways were built or improved. Ferdinand also followed his fathers ideal of Education. Duing his reign another 200 schools were built teaching all manner of things, from Cobbling to Smithery and teaching itself to body selling. Women were taught in all courses desired, with the exception of politcs and other traditional male dominated roles such as woodcutting. By the end of his reign in 176 PHP the Empire held scholars and all upper class children were being educated.


1.16: 200 PHP - 980 AD Conquest

However, many people were not happy with these reforms feeling that it threatened the traditional way of life in the Empire. These men, also traditional Alexandrians and Daranans from the ancient noble families began to gather small armies that terrorized the Empire. The Shakal army could not root these out since they only operated at night and in deep secret. The Emperors could not maintain a strong presence thoughout the massive empire without diluting the skill of the military by conscription. For eight generations these rings continued. It was not until the Emperor Jake began his reign in 450 PHP that the nobles were forced to declare open rebellion against the Shakal Empire. They gathered a rebel army of 20,000 conscripts and even some local garrisons, it took only a few weeks for the Shakal cavalry to gather and charge at the enemy. By 451 PHP the rebellion was crushed but the simple fact that they had rebelled gave ideas to others. For another two hundred years small scale rebellion broke out over the empire. They were not ended until 700 PHP that the Empire was fully stable again. The Empire moved to stabalize itself by building a massive navy. Four hundred large wooden ships over 80m in length were built to be the vanguard of over three thousand smaller ships. The massive works helped build more national pride and for the glory of the Empire the fleet sailed out to sea under Admiral Kelip. The ships sailed the coast of the Empire first finding several dozen medium islands in the south and hundreds of islands in the north that were smaller than the ships themselves. The fleet sailed a second time from Shakal City in 706 PHP towards the coast of what is now Carthage Imperius. The first international war between the two nations began in 709 PHP. The Carthage Imperius forces proved fearful of the mighty fleet as there Empire had only seven hundred ships in total. The conflict took place mainly at sea where the Shakal were utterly decimated time and time again by the experienced Carthage Imperius navy. The Shakal fleet lost seven hundred vessels after just a single year. The Carthaginian forces began to push the Shakal back almost to the home islands. However, just in time Admiral Kelip pulled off his first sea victory by crushing the entire enemy fleet and landing 5,000 men in the Canary Isles which Carthage Imperius controlled. On land the Shakal were so quickly victorious that Admiral Kelip arrived at the far side of the isles three days later than the ground forces. The campaign continued and 20,000 Shakal troops were landed in south Morocco. The harsh desert climate wreaked more havoc on the Shakal forces than the Carthage Imperius forces could have hoped. 11,000 Shakal troops perished because of the lack of water and heat. However, those that survived pushed north along the morroccan coast reaching LioI (RL Casablanca) by the close of 710 PHP. The city quickly fell and the Carthaginian army gathered 25,000 troops and headed for the Shakal. After three engagements the Shakal proved far superior on land and routed the enemy army. The peace treaty was cocluded in 711 PHP awarding the Canary Isles to the Shakal.

In 720 PHP the Shakal fleet returned home 800 vessels weaker than when it left. The remainder of the fleet then sailed south towards what is modern south africa. A storm blew a hundred vessels off course leading to there destruction. After three years the fleet reached modern south africa. The dense jungle was to difficult for the Shakal to tame and they left after a month. The next location of the fleet was the landing in modern Brazilia. The people the Shakal met there were the Medic Droid citizens. A society of cultrally in tune peaceful people that had expanded through natural expansion and cultural supremacy. The Shakal seen this as weak and launched an all out invasion of there lands. The response was surprising, the citizens of the Medic Droiid fought back with great zeal to protect there treasured culture and even though they could not win the citizens fought on for years until 728 PHP. The Shakal fought on the mainland slowly advancing. At sea 10,000 men landed all over the Carribean isles seizing them from there owners quickly. The Shakal were awarded the isles in the Carribean sea and moved on.

The Shakal fleet returned home yet again in 745 PHP and remained for thirty years. The Empire had begun to prosper from the new conquests, slaves were shipped into the Empire by the thousands. The influc of trade wealth helped boost the Shakal economy which made goods from silks sent all over the world. By 800 PHP more conquests were sought. In response to the vast expansion of Carthage Imperius and The Medic Droiid the Shakal began a campaign north which landed in modern New Foundland. The natives in the area where dispatched with great effort only by 810 PHP. After the campaign the island became a Shakal protectorate. The Empire embarked on another conquest to the north and laid claim to Iceland and Greenland. The Empire did not gain the islands until 950 PHP.


1.17: 980 AD - 1400 AD Quiet Era

The Quiet era is just as it sounds, quiet. No wars of massive reforms took place for some 400 years which led to what would become among the most pivotal moments in Shakal history. At the end of the era Christian missonaries from the nation that called itself the 'West Continent' arrived on Shakal lands speaking of the one god. This was totally against the Shakal paganism ever present in the nation.


1.18: 1400 AD - 1500 AD Christianity

As Christianity spread over the Empire so did political turmoil. The 1500 year rule of the Emperors was shaken by the fact that they had no religious backing what so ever. After the initial shock of the religion spread some 4 million of the Empires 176 million citizens converted to the religion. They called for an end to the prostitution the empire had contained since before the Holy Purge, they also called for massive totally unrealistic racial reforms. In response the missionaries were banished from the Shakal Empire by the weak Emperor Leopold III in 1442 PHP. The only problem with this was that they returned, in the form of 25,000 musket armed soldiers from the nation of 'The United States Of The West Continent' . The Ships they used also were armed with the equivalent of late seventeenth century cannon. They seized the Shakal colony of Newfoundland by 1487 PHP. The Christians immediatly fell into favor with the enemy. The Emperor officially surrendered and was instantly killed by his Feld Marschall. Still, the army knew that with there old weapons no real resistance could be put up. As such the Empire suffered its only great humilitation.


1.19: 1500 AD - 1513 AD Humiliation

After the occupation of Cuba and the other Shakal carribean isles by the USWC the Carthaginian Empire occupied the Canary isles while Die Zweiten Reich took over Iceland and Greenland. The Shakal Empire fought hard in these colonies but lost due to the Gunpowder weapons of their enemies. In 1501 PHP 10,000 Carthaginian troops landed on Shakal soil followed by 25,000 Zweiten Reich troops in the north. In addition to these 40,000 Julii troops also landed in the north. Even the more peaceful people of THe Medic Droiid sent 20,000 troops into the south. Two unknown empires the Greater Novogrodians and the Bosnians each sent an army of 37,500 men to secure as much land as possible. The 150,000 enemy troops on Shakal soil were all armed with new gunpowder weapons and were well trained and experienced. It was during this time that the Generalfeldmarschall his name now unknown, began a geurilla war against the occupiers. The army of 2,000 inflicted heavy casualties focusing upon the armies that moved the most. As it did so they gathered experince and weapons. In 1503 PHP the Shakal army was up to 5,000 men and they began to grow bold engaging in skirmishes with the occupiers winning as much as they lost. Some 8,000 occupied troops perished by 1505 PHP when the Shakal began to gather strength. 7,500 Shakal troops beat the Carthaginian troops at Dedring pass and chased them off the Shakal isles for good by 1506 PHP. The Generalfeldmarschall then turned his men towards the troops of Die Zweiten Reich but was handily defeated as they proved far superior to the troops of the Carthaginians in both skill and morale. After the defeat the Generalfeldmarschall commited suicide in repentance for the 6,000 men he lost. The Shakal force scattered and continued a geurilla war against the enemy as they strengthened there position steadily by pouring troops onto the Shakal isles. By the end of 1508 PHP some 200,000 foreign troops were on Shakal soil. For three years the Shakal resistance fighters inflicted heavy losses on enemy troops but could not gather a force. That was until the second greatest hero in Shakal history appeared, second only to First Emperor Zalord, Princess Kristina Schraepl. At only 18 years old she used the ancient Pagan faith of the Shakal to help gather a strong army. By 1512 PHP 15,000 troops stood at her side as she claimed to be the daughter of the Shakal God of War Fredrick. The enemy saw this as unfathomable, a woman leading an army. At first they called it a joke and did not react beliveing the army of men would give up. At the end of 1512 PHP the Shakal struck out with 18,000 men against the enemy forces of Die Zweiten Reich. Thanks to the leadership of the princess 22,000 enemy troops were killed and the remainder taken prisioner. The defeat shocked the foreigners as the Shakal now began to fight against them. The remaining 175,000 troops began to gather for a descive battle with the Shakal.

The Princess immediatly gathered support and formed an army of 25,000 well experienced geurilla veterans. The 25,000 Shakal forces met the 120,000 enemy troops in battle at the ever famous battleground at New Zagreb. Thanks to a mere 500 Imperial Godess Guard the battle was won and 35,000 enemy casualties were present by the next morning. The foreign armies broke apart to recover and Princess Schraepl led the attack beginning with the Medic Droiid army. They were routed and forced to flee off the Shakal continent. Elated by teh victory the Princess turned south towards the Novogrodians. She defeated them by the end of 1513 PHP reducing the enemy occupational force to 120,000 men.


1.20: 1513 AD - 1600 AD Rise Of The Second Empire

After the rout of three of the occupying forces the Princess devastated the Bosnians and was left with only the forces of the Julii and the USWC. As the year passed her army grew to 50,000 troops now totally willing to save there homeland from the christian invaders who had killed of hundreds of thousands of Shakal citizens. The Julii proved nearly as hard to dislodge as the Zweiten Reich troops and the battle took three straight days to decide the Shakal victory. The USWC forces were now so demoralized that the Shakal ran them over and only 5,000 returned home. It was under the leadership of the Princess that the Shakal Kriegsmarine was rebuilt. The fleet was improvised but the power of the Shakal now scared them. They retook Newfoundland by 1515 PHP and the Canary isles by 1516 PHP. The Shakal recaptured Iceland and Greeland by 1519 PHP. In response to Shakal agression the allied powers formed an official co-alition and began the Imperial War. The Princess launched a quick invasion of Cuba seizing the island by 1520. The next year Shakal forces landed in Florida 30,000 strong. The campaign lasted three years by the end of which the USWC was decimated in battle losing every one. The co-alition broke by 1522 PHP. The Princess quickly launched an invasion into Mexico crushing the allied forces there wrapping the campaign up by 1525 PHP. She turned east in 1526 PHP at 33 years old and launched an invasion of Iberia. After a campaign against the allies the war ended in 1530 PHP by which time the Shakal were again the world power. By 1531 PHP the Empire had technology equal to 1730 europe. It also possesed 21 1st Rate Ship Of The Line, 34 other Ship Of The Line and 200 other ocean going vessels. At the end of 1533 PHP 120,000 Shakal were in uniform. The Princess Kristina Schraepl, now 40, was hailed as a great hero, and even though she never held the title of ruler she ruled the Shakal until her death in 1576 PHP.


1.21: 1600 AD - 1890 AD Industrial Revolution

Beginning in the year 1600 AD the Shakal industrial revolution began. After so many conquests thinkers began wondering if water could be harnessed to move the resources quickly across the large Shakal Empire. By 1650 AD a short 10 kilometer long track along a river had been built mouted by a water wheel that propelled the cart and wheel. It proved far to time consuming to construct and the project was abandoned. In 1710 AD a rudimentry railway was built between the harbour at Shakal City and the storage yards. It proved unreliable and was scrapped in 1720 AD. A second attempt at building a railroad was undertaken in 1745 AD. This model proved far superior to the last and tracks were begun all over the Shakal mainlands. By 1780 AD 2000km of railways had been built. After another twenty years the navy began to adopt steam powered ships. In 1810 AD the first Shakal ironclad sailed the seas. By 1820 another 3000km of railways had been laid, now all that was missing were the hundred or so trains needed to ride them all. In 1830 AD trains became fully commercial and carried passengers across the Empire with amazing speed and safety. Crime rates fell thanks to the easy policing of the tracks and the speed at which the Shakal police could move. In 1850 AD a war between the New Julii and Die Zweiten Reich broke out and the Shakal profitted hugely by supplying arms and other matierials to both sides. At the end of hostilities in 1852 AD the Shakal High Command began to think about using an engine that runs on oil resources as a new engine for the ships of the navy. In 1882 AD the first all metal Shakal vessel sailed the seas. By 1889 AD the internal combustion engine was created.


1.22: 1890 AD - 1946 AD Emperor Claudius

On January 1st 1890 the Emperor Claudius came to the Shakal throne. He immediatly ordered the military to begin reading for the first military venture since the days of the Grand Queen (Princess Kristina Scraepl) In 1892 AD 4 Shakal Battleships alongside a hundred and six escorts and transport vessels headed for the African coast. Over the past half century the Lower Morroccans were causing havoc on the Carthage Imperius forces and citizens in the area. The Shakal used this as a reason for invasion. By 1893 AD the Shakal navy had landed 40,000 men in lower Morrocco to aid the rebels. After several descive battles the Shakal were pushing towards Casablanca. The Carthaginians called for a peace in 1895 AD and awarded the Lower Morroccans independance. After the campaign the Shakal turned west and launched a war on the USWC. The strongest empire in the west. The Shakal navy was superior in size and technology and crushed the enemy forces sent to slow it. From the colony of New Nassau (Shakal Colony South Of St Lawrence) the Shakal launched three strikes into enemy lands winning several small battles capturing Ottawa in 1896 AD. The peace was signed in 1898 AD. After eight years the Emperor launched his third campaign. This time against the forces of the Medic Droiid. The conquest was quick and Bogata was captured in 1907 AD. Peace was agreed upon in 1909 AD after two years of nothing but guerilla warfare. The Emperor fell ill in 1911 AD and could not manage proper governance again until 1915 AD. In 1917 the Great Medettereanean war began. The forces of Die Zweiten Reich and Shakal faced the combined might of the rest of the region. On land the forces of DZR held fast thanks to the three million Shakal troops sent to help them. At sea the Shakal technlogy proved unable to stem the tide of the massive allied forces. At the Battle Of The Tiko Straights (Between Cuba And The Little Island Beside It) the outnumbered Shakal Grand Fleet of 9 Battleships and 61 escorts faced the combined allied might of 22 Battleships, 13 Battlecruisers, and 165 escorts. The battle was a tactical Shakal victory due to the huge losses it inflicted on the allies but the Shakal Grand Fleet was forced to retreat to the Shakal Isles badly pummeled. The Shakal sunk 235,000 tons to the 56,000 lost, including 9 Battleships and 6 Battlecruisers. In 1920 DZR forces finally broke the Carthaginian lines in the south front and pushed to Athens. The Julii were badly mauled by the famous Shakal operation 'Fall Hiqu' during which 2 million enemy prisioners were taken. The Shakal forces pushed towards New Roma but fell short in 1921 when the DZR forces were forced back by the first armored attack in region history. By the end of 1922 the war was declared over and the famous Treaty Of Versailles was signed by all involved powers. Little territoy changed hands, but many colonies broke away to form there own weak nations. By 1930 the Empires of Carthage Imperius, Bosnian Warriors, the USWC and Greater Novogrodia had all suffered from massive nationalist movements limiting there territy to smaller core lands taken by thousands of years of conquests. Claudius now full of war decided to cut down the military size. In 1935 AD only 250,000 Shakal soldiers were in uniform beside the feldgling Luftwaffe and the ancient Kriegsmarine. In 1945 AD the Emperor fell ill again and did not recover. He left his great grandson Fredrick the Empire and passed away on July 20 1946.


1.23: 1946 AD - 2006 AD Emperor Fredick

Immediatly Fredrick began massive social reforms. By the end of his first year as Emperor he had legalized gambling, homosexuality, and even weaker drugs for use. His liberalism was not a new concept for the Shakal. By 1950 the economy of the Empire was flourishing and unemployment fell to 1.45% of the 2.2 billion Shakal subjects. The economy began to boom thanks to the awsome quality of Shakal products. Even the realitvly poor and weak Novogradian Empire bought millions of tons of Shakal goods each year. Among Fredrick's most famous reforms was the 'Bill Of Freedoms' all ethnic minorites were awarded full civil rights to equal those of ordinary Shakal citizens. The people were so supportive of these measures that a day was given to the Imperial family. In 1963 AD he mediated the peace negotiations between The New Julii and Bosnian Warriors. The war was ended thanks to the superior negatiation tactics of the Shakal Emperor. In 1970 Fredrick, now 40 attempts to concieve a child with his wife, no child is born and the couple are left without an heir. In 1985 AD Fredrick declares Fredick Manstein his sucessor in case of his death. The 25 year old boy began his career in the military the same year. In 1987 AD the Shakal-Medic Droiid Conflict began. The Shakal forces easily routed the enemy and Manstein was promoted to Lt General by 27 years of age. In 1990 AD a miracle was bestowed on the 60 year old Shakal Emperor. His wife had a child, a great medical mistery since his wife Claudia was deemed infertile in 1983. Rumors have spread that Empress Kristina Schraepl II was concieved medically or by a prostitute, however the latter has been ruled out due to the perfect alibi Fredrick had always being surrounded by friends, even when he slept. In December 1990 AD after five months of care the Princess is given to a willing and secret adoption family as is Shakal custom to be raised in a normal home. In 1992 Fredrick begins to fix the economy after a small slump in the 1988 when the New Julii temporarily banned Shakal goods to help there own economy. Six years later the Shakal peacekeeping mission was sent to Argentina to assit the rebel army fight the communist dictator that had taken root there. In 1998 Shakal forces were sent to the Sidarian Federation to assist the Royal family in escaping from the Federation troops being sent to appreheand them. In 2000 AD Fredick won a six day war with the USWC over Prince Edward Island. The Shakal Luftwaffe took down 345 enemy aircraft for a loss of 27. By 2004 AD it was clear that Fredricks health was deteriorating, his wife having passed in 1999 AD. He fell ill and Manstein was essentially in command of the Empire in 2005 AD until the Emperor declared his daughter to become his heir. On July 4th 2006 Emperor Fredrick passed away, one day after his daughters 16th birthday when he saw her for the first time since she was a baby.


1.24: 2006 AD - Modern

Kristina came to the throne after arranging a very hasty marraige to Derrick Braun so that she could properly inherit the crown, as the first 'Empress' was not officially an Empress the law had not been considered for her. On July 20th 2006 she was crowned under the official title 'Princess of Alexandria, Queen of Celem, Her Royal Majesty, Grand Imperator of Law, Chancellor of the House Of Wills, First Chair of the House Of Representitives, Conqueror of the Shakal Isles,Reichsmarschall Of The Shakal Wehrmacht, First Empress Of The Shakal, Kristina Schraepl II'. Although Derrick was not made an Emperor he was given the rank of Grossefeldmarschall or High Field Marshall, at 16 being even four months YOUNGER than the Empress herself. Alongside them was there ever present companion and friend Samantha Conners. By the end of the year all official duties were taken care of and the 'Big Three' began to add to the prosperity of the Empire. Huge public works were built that cut unemployment down to 0.67% of the over 3 billion Shakal citizens. Two Super Capital vessels were constructed the first S.I.N Samantha, the second S.I.N Armageddon. The Shakal navy also built 20, 600m long Supercarriers and the infastructure was vastly improved. By 2007 AD 5600 km of railway and 110000 km of roads were under construction. After the attempt on the life of the Empress on her 17th birthday in 2007 Kristina began to feel her need for blood. The Vampire instincts came out and the homeless were chosen as her food source, since they would be least noticed. Thanks to the lack of welfare in the nation unemployed were always tapped for emegency work dealing with floods, or fires in exchange for a bed and three meals a day. On December 1st 2007 the Empress had her legendary meeting in Alexandria Ptolymus where she brought home a prostitute and helped her back onto her feet. By the end of the year an expidition deep into the mountains of Tibet was undertaken by Shakal researches and scientists. None returned and they could only send a single message back. "Beware The Great Jabberwock" at first Derrick thought this as a warning against the massive democratic movement and used the Schwarz Rose Polizei (SRP) to crush the movement in the 'Night Of Blackness' where a recorded total of 1250 pro-democacy leaders were executed. After Derrick realized it was a line from Carrol's poem The Jabberwock. In February 2008 the Shakal army sailed for Hamilay only to be turned around by the order of the Empress after a mere three days of actual combat. In June Samantha Conners led a small Shakal fleet of 90 vessels against a massive Pudite armada of over 5,000 vessels and won with only the S.I.N Samantha and 200 of the 21,000 crewman alive. The Grand Admiral was awarded the Knights Cross with Swords, Oak Leaves, and Diamonds for the action. Derrick, ever the competitor with his friend and lover, led the campaign into Kalmurstan during July securing the island as a protectorate leading a mere 30,000 men against 160,000. His skill and amazingly light 989 casualties made him worthy of the Knights Cross with Swords, and Oak Leaves. Angered by the lack of Diamonds he reffered back to the quote sent by the Shakal research team and led a campaign through Novogrodian Madagascar of a single Battalion of 250 Imperial Godess Guards in September 2008. They crushed the native forces and set up Shakal automated defence systems on the island essentially securing it in the name of the Empire. After eliminating all three enemy divisions on the island Derrick raised the Shakal flag under fire from a Novogrodian airstrike. He was awarded the Diamonds to the Knights Cross and returned home.

On October 22nd 2008 Derrick turned 18 and led a Shakal Urban Regiment into the intense street combat in DZR which had called for help with the Communist rebels that had taken control of Paris, Milan, Bordeaux, and Vichy. He personally led two Battalions into Bordeaux as the remainder of the regiment went to Vichy. In Bordeaux he was surprised to find 8800 rebels. Using the Shakal Urban Warfare Viechles in the proper manner he held out for eight days as the rebels closed the noose around him. On the ninth day seventy T-72 tanks, thirty T-62, and sixty M1A1, rolled against his 110 light veichles which could only fight for a short time with less than five rounds of ammunition each. At the end of the day 45 enemy tanks were knocked out and Derrick was out of all tank ammuntion. The next day before the allied helicoptors came Derrick tricked the enemy by firing smoke filled shells drowning the entire city in smoke. The Shakal troops fought wearing there black uniforms and gas masks making the enemy fearful and afraid. By noon the allied helicoptors opened fire on the rebels allowing Derrick and his 200 left over troops to rout what was left. 7200 rebels and all of there armor were gone. Derrick was awarded the Golden Knight's Cross for the action. The highest honor in the Shakal military. In the end of 2008 the Empress and her two lovers Derrick and Samantha were in almost total control of the Shakal Empire. Similar to Bismarck, Roon, and Moltke in Prussia. Manstein, the famous Shakal General now 48, was the only other Grossfelmarschall of the Shakal. Due to his age he began to become ill. He also leaned of his 22 year old sons degenerative disease that forcibly aged the young mans outer looks. By 24 Mansteins son looked 38. On May 29th 2009 Fredrick Manstein passed away. In his place Generalfeldmarschall Model became Grossefeldmarschall Model. In early June Model asked Derrick to reform the Heer into a more mobile fighting force as it was still built for late twentieth century combat and not ready for the wars of the future. In July the Shakal reformed the Wehrmacht and continue to lead the region in all aspects.

August was a month of turmoil for the Empire. In the Medic Droiid Republic a tyranical communist dictatorship government ahd taken control and were arming the nation for war. The Shakal grew anxious as the last thing the Empire needed was another hostile state ready to crush them in the area since the ASA (Anti-Shakal Axis) had been forced in March between the USWC, Carthage Imperius, The New Julii, and Greater Novogradia. The Empress could do nothing however since the nation was not in the mood for another costly war after the death of one of its greatest heroes. Derrick instead ordered a small squad of elite commando troops to assasinate the dictator. They failed and war began in December. The ASA were disbanded thanks to threats from Die Zweiten Reich and the Bosnian Warriors. The Shakal still were forced to fight the USWC, The Medic Droiid, and Carthage Imperius all at once. The Shakal Luftwaffe proved descive as its planes quickly crushed the Carthaginian fleet and gave air superiority to the entire eastern theatre. In the face of total and final Shakal occupation Carthaginian forces halted combat on January 17th 2010. In Febreuary 800,000 USWC troops landed in The Medic Droiid and assisted in the fight against the Shakal 6th Armee led by Derrick Braun. The Shakal armored units suffered extreme casualties due to the terrain being reduced from 2000 tanks initially to a mere 34 running units in just 41 days. Derrick pulled out a victory by using the parts from old tanks to create cheap well working artillery guns that leveled the land as the Shakal advanced. In response a nuclear device was sent towards the Shakal homeland, but it was intercepted by the pilot Chimera who gave his life in the skies above the Empire to save 8 million people. The Shakal called for the utter destruction of the enemy and it was begun. 15 million Shakal troops were in Brazil by the end of hostilities on March 11th 2010. For only 45,000 casualties some 345,000 enemy troops were killed and another 1.1 million taken prisioner. The Medic Droiid ceased to exist as a nation. The Shakal secured Brazil and allowed its former USWC enemies to have Columbia and Peru.

It was on April 3rd 2010 Francis Weldheimer was replaces as Shakal Kanzeler by the Fascist Maurice Hamlein. The Fascists were in power for only four months before a vote of no confidence was places in Hamlein after he ordered the Shakal forces to remain in Brazil. Weldheimer regained control on August 1st 2010.

2.2 Personal Values

The citizens of the Shakal Empire have a variety of personal freedoms and values. While homosexual weddings are not technically allowed none protest there taking place. On the opposite side the citizens of the Empire treat non-consentual adultury with life in prision and rape with instant beheading (Providing there is enough proof) Again polarizing opinion is the fact that public nudity is allowed and slightly encouraged to help improve skin as it is a fact known in the Shakal Empire that the Sun does not in fact give a person skin cancer.

2.3 Entertainment

The Shakal entertainment relies on more cultured forms. Opera remains large alongside orchestral concerts, however, modern entertainment is a huge sucess. The top five bands in the charts of the Empire are Rammstein, Disturbed, ACDC, Three Days Grace, and Motley Crue. The largest concert took place in Darano, the ancient city expanded from 8 million to 30 million citizens for the Great Music Fest Darano Sect in 2010. The event drew in some 210 billion dollars for a cost of 50 billion to increase the infastructure of the city. Several of the new members of the Shakal cabinet, including the Empress and the minister of security attended the backstage tours, both under the watchfull eye of the Reichsmarschall. The entertainment industry in the Shakal Empire profits greatest from live concerts and unlike most nations, not sales of music cds. The Empire also has great pride in its Soccer team which won the Greater Region Cup in 2006 and again in 2010. The national sport, Bloodcurling is essentially a game where all the players are armed with solid oak staffs and are forced to carry a flag to the other end of the field while surviving the hits from the clubs. Although the sport has yet to catch on outside the nation, it is suspected that an arena will be built in Die Zweiten Reich.

2.4 Indoctrination

In the general sense of the word the citizens of Shakal are not indoctrinated. No specific political belief is forced upon them nor is any economic or social issue taught to children under the age of 15. The Shakal do imbue a sense of pride of nationality to the people with constant reminders and non-falsified information about past or present Shakal victories. The Shakal Imperial family is treated with due credit since for over two thousand years they have run the Empire and led it through both good and bad times and victory and defeat. The single method of true indoctrination that the Shakal face is that the Empire is the sole nation that should rule the world. All other nations are second in practice and strength.
