Devastating Cyclone Strikes
Carnelian Island

ATTENTION: The Peoples Republic of Carnelian Island has been hit by a terrible cyclone. As a result there is a grave situation regarding food. Much of the crops and food supply was wiped out by the storm. We need help until we can get back on our feet. We are fearing starvation and riots are around the corner. Please send help.
Sincerely,
Maayarisa The Grand Leader

We express our sincerest concern, and will send 250,000 tons of geneticly modified corn. It is almost identical to normal corn except that it provides about 25% more calories and about 10% more vitamins. Please accept our aid, and best of luck. We will also send the 23rd battalion to help keep the peace if you should wish it.

In the rain and wind of the post-disaster storms Maayasira trudged through the water. She too lost her home in the storm and was staying in the makeshift camps. She came back to the tent. "Hey," her partner Kayiziki said. "This just arrived, I think we have our first aid."
"Hmm GM's..."
"I know, but come on, they provide more calories, thus more energy on consumption right? And it is an emergency."
"You're right. I'll right back and thank them. Oh looks like they are willing to send in peace keepers. I suppose that would be all right as well."
Dear Nation of CM:
Thank you so very kindly for your aid. We greatfully accept. Your soldiers will be fine to come so long as they leave when things are back to normal.
Sincerely

We thank you for your concern, please come soon. We are fearing the body count will begin to rise and that the food shortage will begin to take a toll. As such my partner and I have decided to ration most of our portions.
Thank you

Most people stared in curiosity about the new visitors. Some were afraid of those that came from the outside. They were all aware of how power is abused and used to harm others. Most payed them no mind.

The men began to file into their 4 man squads and line up behind each other. "Alright men!" Marcus shouted over the dull thudding sound of the rain. "We move out immediatly. Follow me, and for Mars' sake DON'T seperate from your squad! Forward squad line formation. Move out!" He then turned back to the man. "We're ready to go. Lead the way."
The ASD would like to extende an offer of 1 billion dollars worth of food aid in whatever form your government should wish. We will fly food into any readily available airstrip. We also offer you the use of our forces again we will deliver whatever your government wants within reason.

Thank you, please drop in food supplies for now, it is the best option as we don't have any major airstrip capable of supporting aircraft at present. You can also bring food right to the ports so we can distribute it.

"This is a map of the devastation. As you can tell the worst areas of all are the coastal areas, many villages are underwater and homes are scattered about. Then as you move inland you don't have as much flooding but plenty of damage, especially the farmers."

Operation United Hope
At midnight, New Brittonian troops began to storm into the beaches of the Carnelian Island. There were, in total, 13,000 New Brittonian Marines and 120,000 New Brittonian Diplomatic Service corps members. This is a first, for New Brittonia, as this is their first actual military-humanitarian mission, ever. As the forces began to enter the beaches, a waiting press corps was snapping pictures in a frenzy as the troops rolled in, and Brig. Gen. Hayden Jackson of the New Brittonian Marine Corps and Maj. Gen Soraiya Thura of the New Brittonian Diplomatic Service Corps walked on the beach, and waved to the press. Although they might be feeling some pride, the fact was that lives were to be saved, and the time for action begins now.

Several small children greeted the marines as they came up on the island. They presented them with some surviving flowers and smiled and giggled.

With the children giving away flowers, some soldiers placed them on their helmets, others on their pockets. What happened was that, s was encouraged by troop family members, candy brought back in Brittonia was given to the children, mostly hard candy like Werthers caramels, or fruit ones like Skittles, and across national and international newsmagazines, the photos of soldiers giving Skittles to small children would be commonplace.
The troops began to mobilize and get ready. An abandoned soccer stadium in the center of the city was selected for a base for operations and as a refugee camp.
Task Force 22
Fifteen nautical miles northwest of Carnelian Island
The task force, calling the force a task force was something of an overstatement, was on its way back to base after a routine patrol cruise of the area when news of a devastating cyclon strike on Carnelian Island reached the Commonwealth. Normally the Commonwealth wouldn't concern itself with such matters but the TF just happened to be in the area and the Government was trying to get more involved in world affairs so the sailors and marines of TF 22 were dispatched to provide aid and security.
The force was tiny by Tolvanic standards, just a single Ocean class LPD (with 500 marines embarked), a Type 38 destroyer, and a Type 36 frigate. While the force wasn't large enough to do much good, it was a start.

RE: Cyclone Aid
I have recently authorised by my government to provide aid to your populace in the wake of the recent diaster.
Unfortunately, I have insufficient supplies of food and other consumables to do much good.
However, I do have 500 Tolvanic marines under my command. This force can provide security, ensure an orderly distribution of aid, and begin reconstruction efforts.
In addition, the commander of my embarked combat engineer platoon informs me his men can have a number of makeshift airfields open within 24 hours to facilitate a faster flow of relief.
What is your reply?

Operation United Hope
Inside the abandoned football (soccer) stadium, a "refugee camp" was being assembled, sort of. The first task for the Brittonians was to secure the area, and, it seemed that in the old stadium there were some people already seeking refuge, altogether, twelve families were found in the stadium, totaling up to 47 people, who were given immediate medical care.
The stadium being secure, the Brittonians set up checkpoints around the seven entrances, of the stadium, each manned by five men, and roadblocks were created around corresponding roads. In the stadium’s massive parking lot, a Deployable Medical System (DEPMEDS) was set up, with the National Service Corp’s Medical Wing managing it, while the Marines lightly guarded it.
Set up were chemical toilets, which gave a sanitary way for the people to use the restroom.
In the stadium, any food such as hot dogs, pizzas, and pretzels that were frozen and appeared fresh were saved to be eaten by people. Food stands were being converted to distribution points for the rations. However, in order to make cooked food, generators would have to be turned on, this began the regular shipment of Brittonian petroleum to the Carnelian Island.
The field was to be used as a dual role, partially it would serve as shelter, for the troops (others were sleeping on the outside) and for the survivors, also it would serve as an administrative center for the operation. Whether it be the logistics of distribution, ensuring that electricity and the Internet is online, or temporary schools, the infield would be the “core” of the reconstruction.
The people would live either in unused space in the massive parking lot, in the subsections of the stadium, or in the stadium seats. No square foot was to be left to waste, as throughout the basements of the stadium that were not used for storage, if it could fit just one cot, people were placed there. Bathrooms, hallways, and boiler rooms were all crammed so the maximum amount of people could be put in the stadium.
OOC: I’m planning on making there be two RP’s, a plot based reconstruction one and character based one focusing around humanitarian aid workers in the region.

It is with deep sorrow that I learned of the news of the cyclone that struck your nation. I know that no words from me will ease the sense of loss which your people is experimenting at this difficult moment. I can only pray that the Mother will bring some comforting to your hearts. Times like these, however, bring the best out of the nations in the world, as they unite under the common goal of saving lives.
I have authorized the Royal Air Force to deploy assets to aid in the relief of the victims of this disaster under Operation Restore Hope. We have gathered over 4,200,000lbs of food and medical supplies to be transported. These supplies will be carried by sixteen RAF C-130J-30 Super Hercules aircraft in 100 sorties to your nation. Each aircraft is expected to make two trips a day, so, the supplies should be in your nation within the next three days. We will also be deploying the 69th Parachute Infantry Brigade to protect the supplies from any looters.
Please, reply as soon as possible with the location of a landing strip where the aircraft can land.

Task Force 22
Fifteen nautical miles northwest of Carnelian Island
The big CH-105A Hurricane (http://www.forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13109293&postcount=157) took off from the deck of the LPD Bollman and headed for the area selected to become a makeshift airfield. Loaded inside the massive helo were twelve combat engineers, twenty marine riflemen, and several pallets and duffel bags full of supplies.
The chopper arrived over the site withour incident and came into a low hover less thana meter from the ground. Three marines jumped out and checked the ground for sinkholes or land mines. Once they were satisfied the ground would support the helo's weight they motioned to the pilot to land. No sooner had the massive Hurricane sat down then all 32 marines had dismounted and went to work.
Twelve of the marines set out to establish a security perimeter while the rest went to work unloaded the cargo pallets. Once the unloading was complete the helo took off to return to the ship to pick up another load.
The marines went to workclearing underbrush, filling holes, and felling trees with an assortment of chain saws, axes, and explosives. The next helo run would bring a bulldozer to begin leveling and grading the field. If all went well the airfield would be up within six hours.
