Large Deposits of Uranium and Silver Discovered in the Northern Mountains

As summer dawned from one of the worst winters in the countries history, people began to pull themselves and their families back together. Many died of starvation and exposure. What was little of the civil government had collapsed, with the authority being turned into feudal tribal leadership. Tribes interacted of course with the various people. However some had struck it rich, uranium and silver were being discovered. It was like gold fever. But most locals didn't have much interest in uranium. In a country with no electricity, phones, anything modern, what good would it do. There was no central government, so who could care about economics. Most were interested in raising families, selling farm tools, boats, day to day life. Then the news leaked, nations that WANTED it were certainly interested in mining it.

To- Whoever it may concern in The Lupine People teritory

As a major mining corparation (at least originally) we would like permision to begining prospecting for Uranium and Silver, and if we do find any to begin minig. In return we will aid in the development of your nation, by building towns, roads, airports, factorys, vast mining complexes and whaterver else you may need.

OOC: Before I post... I wanna make sure you dont mind. ViZion is one of the "good guys" and as such I'm curious if we could "support" a push for a unified Lupine - be it trying to get the tribes to unite peacefully or by supporting one we like and giving their support to forcefully take control of the country and gov't?

Or I could simply begin pumping in economy aid to the country... things like that. Let me know so I know how to enter this RP - or not enter at all...

(For now I want to keep Lupine primitive and tribal based, nations can enter though and interact with the tribes as a precursor to diplomacy, as well as mine the mountains)

To the peoples of Belscraft: You are welcome to enter and begin mining operations. If you chose to hire locals you may.

Thank you,

Across the stormy ocean the Hatta family were sailing to the Lupine Island. The kitsunes would feel right at home there being surrounded by fellow anthros. The poor family had farmed all their life. But that was that, as farmers they were very poor. The free society, no welfare rise and fall by one's mertis was Kitsuneville. Hoping to strike rich Kaj packed up his wife and two daughters to mine the mountains. "Papa are we going to be there soon?" The oldest daughter Yuuko asked. She was clining to dear life holding down her insides. She was very sea sick and tired.

"We'll be there soon babe. Just a day more."

And it was admist a terrible storm they made it to shore. "Geetings. We wish to find transportation to the north. The man looked at him confused. He spent some time getting a wagon and horses to the north.

The Imperials and the Kitsune were not the only ones approaching the shores of the Lupines' island. Approaching one of the coastal villages was also a group of five military vessels and two freighters, bearing the blue-on-white cross flag of the Principality of Northern Rangeria. The ships, three frigates and two battleships, remained on guard around the two freighters, as a single speedboat was lowered into the water.

The boat swiftly traversed the distance between the ships and the shoreline, five Jaegers immediately jumping on the crashing surf and running on the beach, their assault rifles on stand-by. Following them, an officer jumped off the boat and made his way on the shore. The man was young - probably more than thirty but less than forty - to bear the stripes of a captain, but the authority he bore was plain to see. Silently he looked around, to see if any natives had come close...

Arriving among all the ruckus were also some Allanean vessels – three oversized freighters, owned by the new-born Dukakis Mining Company. Its leader, Jonathan Dukakis, had the idea to profit from this new discovery. And so, flanked by mercenaries and engineers, he stood upon the shore of the strange new country, wording his message to the Honshu tribe, and any other tribe that was prominent.

Dear friend!

You may not know this, but the Allanean people are sometimes very fearful of their privacy being invaded. They often utilize silver as coinage. As such, silver is in high demand in Allanea.

I would like to buy a strip of land (say, ten by ten miles, to start with), to begin silver mining on it, for the export of silver to Allanea. On the land I will erect a satellite antenna for communications with a Allanea, and from it, through WiMax, I will distribute wireless communications to my various employees in the field. 100 Allaneans will oversee the technical side of production, and a large amount of locals will be hired for this project, creating jobs for your people.

Surely this will benefit us all.

Sincerely yours, J. D.

"Thank you young miss, we would love your help. We'll pay you as well."

"No pay needed. I'm happy to help."

--------------
"Sincerely yours, J.D." The tribal leader finished dictating the letter.

"I don't understand, I thought we only wanted the people to be here temporarily. They are not our kind afterall, they wish to destroy us don't they?"

"Not all humans are so cruel Ryuu-sama. Not to mention this can be helpful for those that lost their farms. I say we accept the request from Allanea, it may benefit us greatly. Take a letter Karuu tell them we accept, allocate a stretch that hasn't been claimed. "

Erurū loved the idea of humans coming to her country. She had seen them before when she had to help her family. She knew them to be very friendly. Her father was still recovering from the sever frost bite that almost claimed his limbs therefore the family couldn't grow crops. But there were tides to be payed.

"Mama, maybe with all these humans coming, I should take a job."

"I don't want you working in those mines, they're dangerous koi."

"Maybe I don't have to. I could deliver or shovel coal. I'm strong! Remember mama?"

"Yes, you are."

"So it's perfect. I don't have to work in the dark mines and we don't have to force Arurū into work either. I'm the oldest daughter, and with papa needing his rest, it's my responsibility to help."

"Very well. You becareful my child. I know it is humans that helped us, but not all are to be trusted."

"Yes mama."

and like that Eruru was off again to help her family. This time she wouldn't have to cross angry seas, but up the dirt paths into the mountain Honshu village. She would be able to meet with her own natives as well as more foreigners.

As of one week ago the Northstar Corparation has located a series of silver and uranium deposists in an unamed mountain range designated R114. With local cooperation we are now begining construction of mining facilitys in the mountains and due to the lack of a major indigineous population are taking possesion of R114. Any local inhabitants are welcome to seek employment from the corparation.

The young captain looked around himself in the silent shoreline, then nodded to one of the Jaegers.

"Sergeant... Hold this position. I will see if there are any Lupines in the area"

"But sir", the Jaeger protested. "We don't know how these people will react..."

"Then we will see", the captain simply responded, and silently patted the pistol on his side. "I know how to protect myself, sergeant, but remember... we came here to establish contact with these people, not to make war on them."

"Yes, sir."

"Good", the young man said, starting then to climb up the rocky beach, heading towards the village...

The souther shores were much warmer than the some of the wintery northern regions some were already foregoing cloths. Summers were very hot in Lupine. "Men, we aren't decent." A few of the women said. "Well it's a little late now isn't it.

"Yes but men are lustfull, we can't go."

"Come on that's just a silly stereotype."

"Well it seems that one is going to the village."

The village was bustling with the daily business of people. Most of course were clothed with a few exceptions.

A small child saw one of the men enter the village. Excited at the sight of someone she never had seen she grabbed an apple and ran.

"appuru" She smiled and handed it up to him

Behind the GNS Peligan was the GNS V Rome and the GNS Terranican, both Acheron destroyers. They nose of the vessels cut a V shape into the water as they pulled foward. The Lupine People's Coast was in sight and the small three vessel fleet pulled foward.

On the deck of the GNS Peligan was the well known Admiral Erik Corone. He was the one who sent out the message to engage Ryou ships in the Roma waters. That was a victory well known for not one of the Ryou ships survived and every Grestonian ship was fine.

But this deployment was different. This time they would not engage anyone unless provoked.

They landed without any trouble and found others doing the same. They quickly unloaded their gear and equipment and two parties of 40 men were sent out in different directions to find any native Lupines and to find unclaimed lands.

The coast area they landed upon was claimed and parties of men moved out claiming up to native lands and other developements.

"Find the nearest tribe, maybe we can strike a deal with a tribal leader."

"Yessir," reluctantly answered a Sergeant as he gathered men up into an envoy and they set off into the area.

OOC: Will there be a map or anything of the sort? Also, is this supposed to be an experiment in colonialism based on economics?

Alexander Kardhes was looking forward to today's events. He had hailed from one of the most wealthy families in the Ixanian Empire (his family had plenty of successful people; one of his cousins was a headmistress at one of Ixania's academies) and had just volunteered to lead the Ixanian mission to the Lupine tribes in order to stake a claim to those resources which Her Majesty's Government wanted though he was told to use violence as a last resort. Alexander himself wanted peace and was actually quite interested in meeting the Lupine people so he could get on their good side. With him were three ships filled with miners, workers and builders along with supplies. He had left his wife and two kids at home but thought about having them come to see him when he had finished settling down here and it made him somewhat sad when he remembered his wife because he just loved waking up every morning to see her smile. "Sir! We've arrived!"

Kardhes snapped back into reality and took his flag from one of the soldiers before firmly planting it into the soil. "I, Alexander Kardhes, an admiral in the Ixanian Navy hereby claim this territory and all of its resources (and people?) in the name of the Ixanian Empire." Everyone cheered as they began working on building makeshift houses and mines while Alexander looked at the ocean as if he was in deep thought. He then began ordering an exploration of the area in the hopes of meeting any of the natives. Dressed in his uniform and armed with a sword, gun and his beautiful wife at his side, he began scouring the land in search of life.

OOC: I've staked my claim now. Feel free to have Lupines meet my people; Alexander would quickly want to make sure he can get them to support his plans. If it is possible, I'll turn my claim into a colony of sorts.

The Ixanians hand landed on the western shores, the shores were also claimed by the Honshus. They were truly the largest clan in the Lupines. Though it was partly owned by a small tribe. "Konichiwa." A few of the locals gathered to greet the new arrivals from Ixania. "Follow us."

Because of the size of the Honshu, there were also sub leaders. The main leader was in the village further into the mountains.

His training in the language of this people was still in its baby-steps, and trying to follow the nuances and the song-like quality of the older male's tongue was certainly quite impossible.

"Thank you, ma'am", he said, nodding to the female, and then bowing to the chief. "I greet you, leader, in the name of my Prince, Mikhail IV of House Halsar. I am captain Andero Kaupala, of His Majesty's Navy. We have heard of recent mineral finds in this region, in the mountains, and many in my country would be interested in these resources. I have been given authority by my Prince and his council of ministers to seek permission on their behalf to negotiate for a trading and mining colony in this region. We are willing to buy land for the settlement, as well as to provide labour for any lupine willing to work."

"I'm sure we can come to some agreement," Ryoko said. "We are sure these minerals are valuable. But so is the land. There are many in our village who may be willing to work for you, with the bad crops and shortage of food still." The famine wasn't as bad as it had been Spring had given plants to tide them over.

Somewhere along the Lupine Peoples Coast, close to the mountain range...

The large transport ships (and a Amphibous Assault Ship or two) of the State Naval Forces lay offshore, drifting lazily in the sea, near the horizon to an observor onshore. Rapidly approaching the shore were large ship-shore hovercraft.

Red Tide had become aware of the Lupine People and their resources a ways back. Although Red Tide had no particular interest in Uranium, Silver, on the other hand, could be useful. The natives, however, were deemed a possible problem source, not to mention the other powers showing up.

Therefore, it was decided that the State Armed Forces, namely the State Guard(IE: the Army) and State Naval Forces(IE: The Navy), were too secure the territory... and liquidate (standard Red Tidean euphemism for 'slaughter') any and all natives inside the Red Tidean claim.

The first State Guardsmen (nicknamed 'Meapuppets', due to their mindless obedience and great numbers), stormed ashore.

"Culture exchanges. That is interesting, not something that has been done before in the Lupine territories. But that is something you would have to talk to the Honshu Tribal leader about. "Also, as a gesture of good will, I have been authorized to tell you that a shipment of grain and agricultural tools from Northern Rangeria is on its way. Consider it a gift, and an auspicious beginning for the friendship between our two peoples."

"That is most generous of you, chieftain", Cpt. Kaupala said with a genuinely pleased smile on his lips. "Our survey teams are waiting aboard ships near the coast. Once the grain arrives here, I hope we can send them and your guides inland to do their task, and find the location on which the colony may be built."

The young man went silent for a moment, before he looked the chief in the eyes again. "Chieftain, I will be honest with you. We will also be deploying some troops of our military to the colony. Their task, however, is to serve as the police force of the colony until it is fully settled. We do not send them here as conquerors. Merely peacekeepers. And should any one of the colonists - male or female, soldier or civilian - harm or commit a crime against one of your people, they will be punished severely."

"Pardon my milady, but travlers have arrived."

A young woman sat up. "Thank you." She was very pale, she had been ill since the winter.

"Welcome travlers."

The Captain extended his hand to great the tribal lady. He was unaware of their customs so he guessed that hand shaking would be welcomed.

"Hello ma'am, I am Captain Jefferson Willard of the Grestonian Infantry forces being sent through here. I wish to inquire where the gold is and if you would like to have protection of Grestonian troops?"

One of the other soldiers came foward pulled out a breif case. He opened up the case which sported 5 billion USDs inside.

Captain Kaupala had briefly returned to the shoreline to contact his superiors. Before an hour had passed, more Northern Rangerian soldiers had arrived to the village. Though they carried their weapons, most had slung their assault rifles to their backs or taken off their helmets. Many of them were walking around in the village, trying to establish contact with the local population, while those still on duty heaved large crates on the shore. Medicines, iron rations, water purification pills... all as an indirect payment or thanks for the Lupines' help.

The captain himself was on the beach, helping his men to lift the crates on the shore before being divvied among the villagers. The medics and ship doctors had set up their own tent on the beach, offering their help for anyone who wanted it. Treatment, medication, even vaccination if any mother asked for it for their children.

Jon Voight sat in the back of the jeep as it bounced along the rough durt track, which really seemed more designed for horses. Never mind though - soon it would be much more civilised once the ygot round to building better roads. The convoy consisted of three jeeps, each with four men in them and two trucks, with a pair of men in the front. A total of sixteen men. However there where hundreds more back at base camp in the mountains where they had established a primitive airstrip and a basic settlement. Even now mine shafts where being planned and heavy equipment flown in. All he needed now was workers - he could hardly do the mining, he was the Corparate Rep, and his men had better things to do. As they neared the village the jeeps slowed down, and pulled up in the main square. He steped out, and put on a pair of shades. Now to find out who the hell was in charge here, and get some contracts sorted out.

First, the Ixanian people, although devoted to the preservation of the ancient myths of their ancestors, hath for the most part being members of the Ixanian Orthodox and Lutheran Churches. Women can stay at home similarly to the Lupine fashion but many work as doctors, lawyers and the like regardless of their marital status. Vela Verde
21-05-2008, 05:35
The relatively obscure country of Vela Verde couldn't resist making a new ally and gaining materials for their nation(and possibly a colony) which was why it sent a small fleet made up of three frigates and five amphibious assault ships to the Lupine island. If not for the guise of going to the island not for the precious sliver but for humanitarian reasons the people of Vela Verde would of simply said no and left the anthros live in misery. To make good on their claims two of the amphibious assault ships had been loaded with medicine and food, while the other two were packed with a mix of soldiers for protection and with the necessary tools to start the foundations for sliver mining. Everything was ready for those on board the ships.

The nationalized precious metal industry was ready to make money, while on the other spectrum the military was hoping that the businessmen could coax one of the Lupine tribes into letting them make a colony to make a small military base. Finally there were those with bleeding hearts who had only come to truly help out those in need. The various goals for the Vela Verdians who were landing on the shores on the island were all different but in the end as the first landing craft opened their doors and men ran out onto the beach they all felt that what they were doing was for the better of Vela Verde.

Beside him the translator did his job and translated the man's words to the language of the native. "We come in peace and wish to offer your tribe development aid. Northern Rangeria
22-05-2008, 19:59
The days had been busy in the Mizu village where the Northern Rangerians had made landfall. While their presence was certainly noticeable, it had soon become clear that their intentions were not to take over the village or any of the important tribal grounds. All they had requested was a patch of ground at the coast line, which was now being transformed into a docking area for smaller transport boats. The water was simply too shallow for larger vessels. A nearby field was used by large VTOL transport planes to carry goods and vehicles, some of which already gone inland with the assessment crews and their Mizu guides.

While the assessment teams were away, the military still had a presence in the village, in the construction of the docking area, but also in less invasive ways. Many of the Jaegers when off-duty came to the shore, not bearing arms or their entire uniforms, and traded with the locals, exchanging rations, chocolate, even small personal items for local jewelry and tools. Some even offered to help the villagers in their daily chores.

All this bode well in the mind of Cpt. Andreas Kaupala as he sat on one of the craggy rocks littered along the shoreline. He was wearing only his fatigue trousers and a dark green t-shirt as he watched the sun set...

Alexander returned to his camp in which he showed the Steward Leader's niece around quite happily before he resigned himself to the makeshift home he had built for himself and his family. At dinner, Alexander told his family about the tribesmen he had met and they were very curious as they asked him a multitude of questions; but he was happy to see his wife bearing her share too since she was with the Steward's own wife at the time. After a kiss from his wife, Alexander resigned himself to a night walk around the camp while the others slept. Alexander looked out the window with his concerned wife and curious children to see the chopper land in the camp. "The Imperials? I suppose they wish to speak with us about some things. Pira, you stay with the kids here. I will talk to them."

Alexander, with a hastily organized group of guards, began to walk towards the chopper....although Alexander missed having his breakfast as he was just eating it when the chopper landed.

Admiral Jerry Trafford aboard the battleship Anselmo looked at the island before him. He then ordered that an FJ-3 fighter and scout plane take off from the Continental to map the island and look for any villages or towns. As the fighter jet went sykward, he also ordered that a brigade of 450 men and several armored vehicles go ashore and make contact with the natives. He hoped that they were friendly for he did not want to lose his best men. He watched as the landing party went ashore and ordered that all vessels go on high alert, should the other nations vessels attack. He ordered that that the landing party claim a section of land, preferably near a stream, and any mountain near it. He was about to claim this land for his country and his fathers mining company. If possible he hoped to confer with the natives over the land and see where uranium deposits might be.
