Discovery of The Era

The Ryou Black Islands

This was how it started.

a SCUBA diveing group was going diveing near The Calmon Reefs in The Ryou Black Islands. This was an hobby on The Islands. Today the group was to see the Corals.

But soon this trip woud go bad.

one Diver soon headed away from The Group. going to look at a bunch of pink coral. He didn't know that Something was watching him. The Poor person didn't see it till it was too late.

The Diver turned as he saw the thing attack. He kicked the monster off and started swimming fast. He got back on The Boat as The monster attacked again. The Crew of the ship pulled him up as The claw of the monster, a 7 foot arthropod, graped him. One of The Crew grabed a Harpoon gun and fired on the Beast, Killing it.

The Crew and The SCUBA Club members took their injuired member and The dead monster to Calmon Island. The diver was sent to a Hospital while the Monster was sent to The Naval Base where a Marine Biologist soon was Surpised at it.

The Monster was a Pterygotus, a Giant Sea Scorpion. The Surprise was that this and all Speices of Sea Scorpions (also know as eurypterids) had been extinct since the Permian.

to find a real Pterygotus in Modern Times was a Discovery.

"This si an interesting discovery. A creature like this could be used as a weapon."
"Can our scientists make one?"
"If they ahve the DNA they can grow one. You would have to have one of our agents in Ryou Black Islands steal some. That agent would have to come here immediatly."
"Do it."

Official Statement Following the "Discovery of the Era"

After extensive study and research, scientists of Roma V have concluded that the existence a Pterygotus in today's times is highly unlikely as it is estimated it died out during the early to mid Devonian period, not the Permian as Ryou scientists concluded. Roma V scientists also have stated it is unlikely it could survive the vast changes of climate occurring since 443.7 - 416 million years ago when the Devonian period began. It also would've died out during the ice age, had it survived that long, as Eurypterids require warm waters to thrive in.

All in all scientists have concluded that the "discovery" is an elaborate hoax devised by the Ryous to garner international attention.

Eric Von Heinstien approached the facility in his large truck.
"I am here to deliver supplies that were ordered for a special research project."

Zackarothian Sciencetific Community Statement:
We here at the ZSC found that a live sea scorpion, no doubt the large Pterygotus, is either a hoax played the The Ryou Black Islands, as suggested by our collagues in Roma V, or perhaps very interesting find. Not the discovery of the era but a very important one. While we are not trusting of the The Ryou Black Islands, we have however seen many strange things that might have been thought impossible before. In this we are starting a bounty on these creatures, if they do still exist.

For every dead speciemen found there will be a grand total of 500,000 USD while any live creature will bring in a 1 million USD check. All creatures must be real, in good condition to identify, and must be brought in person or presented to the community via telecom confernce. We hope this brings in sucessful results for all sciencetists aboard.

Truly Yours,

Henry Olinger, President of the Zackaroth Sciencetific Community.

The Ryous, to show that it was a Sea Scorpion and not a Hoax, sent The dead Pterygotus to Roma V on a Ayanami Class Destroyer. The Ship left port as The Guards surounded the Truck, as no one ordered new supplies. These were not rent a cops, But Imperial Marines. "Open The Truck up," The Commander said.

Somewhere in Chernobyl, a basement dwelling nerd is running his computer via generators, stumbles upon a picture of the sea scorpion

"Clearly a photoshop."

As the Ryou destroyer entered Roma V waters, it was quickly surrounded as a precaution. Feelings of suspicion still in the air due to the Ryou-Roman War still fresh in the minds of the Emperor and the Roman Legion. While it was highly unorthodox to send a armed vessel, especially a destroyer, to a neutral nation just to deliver a specimen an accord was soon struck and the destroyer was guided into the docks of Rome.

The scientists of Roma V as well as the press already assembled to receive the specimen.

The Ryous bought the specimen to a Small Boat. it and a Large Water Tank tht was under a Sheet were bought onto land. The Tank moved. Soon The Cover came off and there it was.......a LIVE Pterygotus. This one was cought alive before the Destroyer left The Islands.

This and The first Specimen was given to The Roman Scientists.

I congulate you on your discovery and hope it will bring some in sight into your culture and world from the past. I would like to ask you one thing about it and no I'm not asking if it's a prank. Would you ever think about sealing off the secotr it came from? Why I'm asking is that there might be more creatures down below and some governments might use it in the wrong way.

Enjoy your new discovery.

Words such as "amazing", "astonishing", and "unbelievable" were uttered by the crew of scientists as they approached the tank for closer observing of the creature. The constant snap and following flash of cameras did not cease on the part of the reporters and journalists as the scientists loaded the two specimens onto the back of a truck to be taken to their facility.

They would keep the creatures for four months and then return them to the Ryous. To thank them, a generous sum of two billion dollars was awarded to the Ryou Government for sharing its find with the Romans.

I my self do believe this specimen is fake and that your discovery is just one to get yourself in the headlines after warring with innocents and loosing. But maybe you can prove they are real to me and bring one over to the GMCoWS.

The Ryous knew one thing about the Sea Scorpions.......they were good Ambush Predators. More findings of Pterygotus were soon all around the Islands.

In a secert Lab, one so Guarded, Marine Biologists soon found something.

These were a new species of Pterygotus. It wasn't of The Four Species known from Fossils of The Four types (P. rhenaniae, P. anglicus, P. osiliensis and P. bilobus.). In Short, a New Species of these Giant Sea Scorpions was found. The Ryouese Biologists soon sent this Info to Their Roman Counterparts along with a name for this new Species; Pterygotus Xanadouis or The Xanadouian Sea Scorpion.
