Sharina

President Mina Veristek gazed upon a sheet of paper and after several moments, she let it flutter down to the ground. She took a deep sigh reserved for those with heavy burdens. A burden of leading several hundred million people in a reformed North America. An America forged through the fires of hell and decades of unrelenting warfare. Dozens of breakaway states reunited under a single banner. The new America outlasting most of its enemies, both ancient and new. Yet, the long and difficult journey is far from over.

Mina gazed upon her reflection off her polished wooden desk and sighed. "I'm not as young as I used to be," she thought. She deftly pressed a hidden button undernath her desk and a computer flatscreen appeared to grow out of a hidden slot in the desk. A keyboard quietly slid out towards Mina from yet another slot. Mina's aged fingers began dancing over the keyboard, activating the computer screen with a kalideoscope of colors. Various windows with content ranging from simple messages to photographs, videos, and schematics flashed one after another across the screen. Minutes passed into half-hours, and the half-hours passed into hours.

Mina's eye quickly fixated upon a window displaying some quite interesting information. "Perhaps this is just what I need to further strengthen Sharina's position in the Americas. One cannot be too complacent," Mina muttered to herself silently.

The computer screen displayed information and statistics on the Sharinan state of West Michigan and the independent nation of East Michigan. Several statistics reveal a trend that may have important implications for the Great Lakes region.

Mina allowed herself a smile as she continued poring over the data from Michigan. She formulated plans and goals well into the night, opening a new chapter in the history of the New America.
