Same as title; The Confederacy of Achau Adawnalydd's leader is wondering what the Forum thinks a fair budget for it's military would be; as well as a budget in general. Achau Adawnalydd's population has just reached the 93 Million point mark.

Sincerely,

Dylan Jones, Prime Minister of Achau Adawnalydd

Try NSEconomy, or if you are in a large region I think NSTracker gives the same results. Don't be fooled by the letter infront of the $, it is in USD's.

is there a need for a military budget or does that come later when your nation has received ample population to defend?

There is a need for a military budget, but if you have none it is legal to remove stuff from other areas to fund your defense. Keep in mind though that if you take the money away from an area it impacts the funding of that area.

Thats a good Idea, but if you don't want to use that military budget number (it's too high or too low) I'd suggest about 2-6% of GDP as a realistic number for a developed nation. IIRC the US spends about 4%, France and Britain about 2.5%, and Singapore around 5%. Going too high above 10% would probably be frowned upon, but then again, I'm not a huge war RPer.

As for real budget, I don't really know, it depends, some states have bigger budgets than others. If you are more free market and not interested in a welfare state, it would be smaller, but If you are more socialist, the budget would probably be larger.

Most people on the forums use sites such as NSDossier (http://nsdossier.texasregion.net/) or NSEconomy (http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/) where the sites calculate your spendings into different categories based on your nations Gross Domestic Product and the way you answer issues given to your nation.

Your military's budget would be how much is spent in your Defence category and is subject to change based on the options you might've picked in your daily issues.

Also, how do I put 'Gov't Waste' into actual thing that have no support whatsoever? If it can be done.

"Government waste" is funds that are typically wasted by your government due to corruption etc. Since my government is so large that a lot of my people are government officials, I have a huge government waste, but I usually RP this as miscellaneous funds, since I use my brainwashed Stoklomolvi Military Police Force (SMPF, now Commissariat of State Security or KGB) to kill those who resist.

And how do I kill off some of the funding to, say, Administration, to replace some Education and Health Care?

You can however you see fit however you can't put it into the calculator but as Stoklomolvi said you can use a good reason to explain why you however much into spending.

You can move funding with issues; if you see an issue that allows for increase in education and health care, choose it. It will increase that sector.

The calculators are a guide, really, a lot of experienced players don't really use them.

Additionally, if you need any help with your military regarding size, organization, equipment and etc, along with general RPing tips, please don't hesistate to drop me a TG.

Another thing, lol, is there some kind of calculator that can help me find out what it would cost for my military of 753,000 to have full armament? As in, Weapons, grenades, etc.? Because I'd probably have to fit that in too.

Not really. To do that you need to understand what your equipment is, how much it costs, etc. This would need to be conducted on your own (another person can help, but there are no calculators).

As TPF said, the calculators are a guide, nothing more. Some people RP their tax rates as higher than the calculator says, other as lower. Some people shun the calculator altogether and come up with their own economic stats. What the calculator does is give you a general idea of what your GDP should be, which you can then divide into the categories at your own leisure. This does not mean you can have a 100% tax rate with it all going to the military, however, as the budget must be kept within the bounds of realism. You can look at real life budgets for inspiration.

Technically, there is a calculator. It's just that you need to know all the costs, and plug them into an Excel spreadsheet. If you need help, NSD (http://z4.invisionfree.com/NSDraftroom/index.php?act=idx) is here for you.

What he said.

Personally, I first make a pie graph on how much, percentage, each section of my government gets. Usually I put the military at around thirty percent. Then, I figure out all the different taxes (Sales, Income, Inheritance, etc.) I have, and their rates. Then, I select, based on my RP'ing, an appropriate GDP per Capita, usually between thirty thousand fifty thousand USD's, though recently it's been higher. Lastly, I figure out how much the taxes would take from this, and set that as the government income. If I feel that any sector is lagging, I can take out a loan for that, but I've been downsizing my government lately, so that isn't an issue.

The above method usually gets me acceptable figures.

Thanks alot for the help guise, I understand more now.

I'm just kinda looking to become a nation with a prosperous economy, with top priorities as Health Care, Education, Defence, and Social Welfare.
