The League of Venice was formed on the dawn of 2008 by delegates from the Austrian Empire (Austria, Hungary, Croatia). The first accepted member of the League of Venice was The Mediterranean Alliance (Italy, Switzerland, Greece) followed by Germany (Germany, France, The Netherlands), comprising the core of the League's original members. Kulikovia (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia) followed shortly after.

The headquarters was held in Vienna initially, which was then relocated to Venice Proper following the entrance of Italy into the League. The headquarters is housed in the fabled Doge Palace (La Palazza Dogè).

Initial formation was faced with severe criticism, mostly from Asian nations, due to an overtone of imperialistic agendas present within the League. This view was seemingly validated by Germany's invasion of Luxembourg, though the League of Venice's official stance on imperialism is non-imperialistic. The German justification of its invasion cites terrorist attacks on Paris and Berlin by the Luxembourg government, though its validity has received criticism.
India, in particular, was the most vocal dissenter, stating "it is not your turn to rule former colonies; it is their turn to rule you" during the initial conference. This statement resulted in immediate defensive stance by the League, using the statement to cite Asia's intent to invade Europe, further validating a need for a united European defense coalition.
However, the League was also graced with scattered international support, namely from Kenavt in South America and Kansiov in Asia.

The first official conference was held in Venice, and was attended by most European powers and spear-headed by Mediterranean delegate, Lucrezia Dellatorre. During the meeting, the League faced it's strongest European criticism by then-Kulikovian delegate, Andel Karlovy. Heated words and debate were exchanged between Karlovy and Dellatorre. The conference resulted in Lucrezia's travel to Kulikovia to meet with Kulikovian President Nevky, culminatng in Kulikovia's ultimate entrance into the League of Venice. Karlovy remained a strong critic of the Kulikovian government's decision to join until his death in mid-2008. Shortly after, The Kingdom of Lynion and the Kingdom of Romania were affirmed membership.

History continually being updated as it happens.

Considering that the Scandinavians have a long history of warmongering, pillaging, and to a certain extent empire building; Austria-Moorington casts its ballot as a 'AYE.'

Hopefully, the Viking blood still burns bright for these new members of the League- in so far as they still enjoy prowling the high seas, plundering as they go, they can leave the Paganism in the past.

Considering the vote is 3 members FOR, Lynion is hereby the newest member of the League. I will make a post shortly about it.

Lynion: Who will be the delegate to the League? And where will the branches be located within your nation; you're allowed up to three, but can have less if you wish.

Also, The Kingdom of Romania wishes to join the League. Thoughts from the peanut gallery?

I suspected as much, but play along- my Propoganda Ministry needs something to work on. ;)

I feel a little like cheating when all I can say for Romania is 'AYE'. So Romania [New Ferrium], if you could give us an idea of what you expect, exactly, to get out of the League, and why your country wants to join. Basically, your OOC and IC reasons for getting involved.

The Worker's State will be sending a new delegate to represent us during sessions of the LoV. His name is Lukas Novak. He is an exceptional young man and mentored by the now late Andel Karlovy.

With a majority vote, The Kingdom of Romania is hereby accepted into the League of Venice.

Other things that need to be addressed:

Mediterranean Cooperation with Xaristan in the invasion of Cyprus
Austrian Invasion of Slovenia
I'm sure there's more, but I'm drawing a blank. Feel free to use this thread for "Official LoV business".
Oh, and, btw; this should be the last OOC response. IC from here on, plz :-)

EDIT: Lynion, we still need you to name a delegate for the LoV, and up to three branch locations in your nation.

OOC: Sorry guys, I've being asleep for awhile.

Delegate: Ambassador Lee will represent the Kingdom of Lynion.

At the moment we'll have a branch open in the capital of Helsinki and another branch in Oslo
