GOVERNMENT CITY-The Most Prosperous Nation in the region and one of the world's largest economies has fallen into a deep leadership and political crisis. The Democratic Republic of Sunnland, yesterday, removed from office one of its most revered leaders in its 40 year history. President James E. Collins, the country's first president as a republic after 40 years of Philippine occupation, was diagnosed by the Surgeon General and the Presidential Doctor as "mentally incapable" leading the People's Assembly to file a resolution to remove the President from office.

At about 10:00 p.m. Local Time, the Presidential Doctor, Dr. Thompson Demerera, issued a medical bulletin declaring that President Collins has "fallen into an unusual case of schizoprenia, therefore is mentally incapable of leading the nation," and has recommended "the transfer of power within 24 hours". Then, at 10:40 p.m., People's Assembly Chief Convenor Gregory Thompson appeared at national television announcing a special session of the People's Assembly at 11:00 p.m. He declared it an open session wherein every legal aged citizen can participate. At 11:00 p.m., the session began and Resolution no. 521 was filed by Assemblyman Ulysses Maravich calling for the "removal of the President from office" citing Dr. Demerera's medical bulletin. Gregory then certified it as urgent and put the resolution at vote to all citizens of Sunnland. The vote ended at 3:05 a.m. Local Time with 2,339,120 Yes votes to 90,112 No votes.

Thompson then declared the resolution final and executory. But, the resolution failed to transfer the power to the Speaker of the Parliament because there is no vice-president. A vote was set then to determine the acting president and shall finish until 12:00 p.m. today. As of now, Sunnland is governed by the People's Assembly.

President Collins' whereabouts are unknown right now, but a helicopter believed to have carried the President was seen leaving the Beige House presidential palace at 2:30 a.m. It can be recalled that President Collins underwent mental rehabilitation last November, leaving power to his Vice-President. His Vice-President did some abuses while he was acting president leading to his resignation last April. Collins was discharged last March. President Collins showed signs of his recurring illness in the past few weeks, demanding his office to be transferred at a remote town in Southern Sunnland and crowning himself "King of Sunnlandia" and the "Bishop of the Atlantic".
