This thread is designed specifically as an informational thread on North Point. Hopefully this will help me consolidate my information about the damn place so I can RP in a more organized fashion. I'm trying to keep this neat (I've taken a lot of inspiration from Layarteb's factbook, I can't thank him enough), so bear with me as I create this and (attempt) to make it realistic.

2 - Summary and Statistics
Summary
The Principality of North Point is not a principality in any sense of the word. At some point, way back in its history, there was probably a prince of some sorts. I haven't thought it out all that much and don't particularly care to bother with it. North Point is controlled by Sun International, an enormous corporation that runs the nation's government and military. Thankfully, though, Sun International is a company that works to make its citizens happy, for its CEOs know that a happy country will always be better off than one with an angry, pissed off populace.
Sun International manages the country's government quickly, efficiently, and painlessly. No standing in line for driver's licenses at the DPS in North Point. Most of the government's services are streamlined and convenient, using online applications and renewal services.
North Point has a strong military tradition. All men are expected to serve for 2 years after they turn 18, and then remain in the reserves until they turn 35. North Point is not an aggressive nation, however. Sun International specifically prohibits the construction of nuclear weapons.
Geographically, North Point is a collection of islands. The two largest, New Tripoli and Wellington Island, house the majority of the 1.4 billion-strong population. The many outlying islands are used for tourism and military purposes. North Point's climate is mostly tropical; hot during the summers, and mildly cool and wet during the winters. Coral reefs ring most islands, and provide ideal dive locations. Most citizens prefer low-impact construction and tend to enjoy the environment rather than exploit it.
North Point's most popular recreation activity involves cruises aboard warships for weapons demonstrations. Hell, it would sure entertain me.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/Colosseum/SunLogo.png
Sun International deserves its own post because it literally IS North Point.
SI is a large logistics corporation and defense contractor which runs the entire country of North Point. Its CEO is Mr. Ian B. Roberts (who, coincidentally, is me). I run every aspect of Sun International as well as North Point (go figure). I could go into all sorts of detail about the structure of the company etc, but it's pretty damn unimportant and I have better things to do.

4- Military
North Point's military is a highly-trained and professional force. At full capacity, North Point's entire military services consist of approximately 14 million men. This works out to about only 0.8 percent of the population. At any given time, the number usually hovers around 2 or 3 million. North Point's strong military tradition keeps its forces flexible; if the need arises, up to 35 million men can be mobilized.
North Point's military functions mainly as a self-defense force. While capable of expeditionary operations, the Army and Marine Corps have never done so. The only time the military was mobilized to its full extent was during the 1997 Landsdale Rebellions, where the Marine Corps and especially the Navy performed admirably.
North Point is not an aggressive nation. Large standing armies are not kept (due to high cost, etc.). As per Sun International policy, North Point does not keep an arsenal of nuclear, biological or chemical weapons.

4.4 - Navy
North Point's navy is known as the Royal Principality Navy (RPN). Most sailors and civilians still refer to it as the North Point Sea Command (NPSC), a callback to the days when it was nothing but a small coastal defense force. Ships of the NPSC are prefixed "RPNS", which stands for Royal Principality Navy Ship. Strength levels in 2008 place the RPN's personnel count at 900,000 men.
More to come.
