OOC Question
So I'm about to try to make a factbook for my FT nation...and I'm wondering, do you need to use your NS nations population for your FT Nation?

Yes. Its commonly accepted that each billion people you have represents how many thousands of starcraft you can have. I personally, having six billion people, can have six thousand starships. For actual population, most people will accept you setting your population as high as you want, within reason and also depending on the age of your nation. Someone who is from, say, 2002 can set theres basically as high as they want, where as someone from 2008 shouldn't be able to claim more than perhaps a few billion people spread out among perhaps a couple worlds but not a massive interstellar starsystem. At least thats how I've understood it...though the claiming of populations has always intrigued me...some people can get away with vast empires of trillions of people amongst a thousand worlds, while other nations of the same size are ridiculed for it. Its a prestige thing I suppose.

Most FTers will accept a good write up over number wankery every day of the week. So don't worry about arcane formula, worry about writing.

Quite. I accept Unified Sith's trillions of people and near infinite armies because it works for his style of RP. Write well and you'll be accepted. (There are some assholes who will go off of the arcane formulaes, but they're just that: assholes
thanks yall...that cleared that up for me. Now I can get down to my factbook. heh. so expect that in a week...

Maybe once you've got it set up I could arrange a 'first contact' rp between our nations?
