Hobson City is an independent city situated on the east coast of North America.
The Population of Hobson City: 10,228,000

It is a very diverse city with many nationalities, groups and cultures all living together. Though in recent years the city has been decaying with rampant crime and squalid living conditions.

Hobson city is made up of 7 Boroughs.

Carter Island
Population: 1,677,000
Carter Island is the southern most Borough on a small island.
It got its name from second in command of the colonists Sir Carter.
Its quite a rundown area. In its recent past it was mainly an island of suburbs but in the late 70's it saw the creation of the houseing projects which saw cramped living spaces and a general decline in the islands beuty and prosperity. The 80's and 90's saw huge unemployment, arson and other crimes which further crippled the borough. In the late 90's the last area of low residential housing was demolished to make way for more houseing projects which are still being built and expanded today. The Boroughs population has swelled from just 480,000 in 1970 to over 1.6 million now. Crime is dropping according to statistics but its still a dangerous part of Hobson City.
Landmarks
Holland Park
Potsmound Island Cemetary
Hemwick View Park

Hemwick
Population: 980,000
Hemwick is traditionally the industrial area of town filled with smockstacks and wharehouses, docks and factories. There is not much room for living and so the population of the Borough is quite small compared to the others. The borough president however does want to expand the population and plans the new South Hemwick and Central Hemwick projects. this has brought a lot of condemnation as the population fears it will promote crime and squalid living conditions and a decline in the boroughs prosperity as it has been the case in many of the other boroughs.
Landmarks
The Prison
Power Station
Hobson River Bank

North Hobson
Population: 798,000
North Hobson is the smallest borough of the seven with under one million people and it also has the smallest area. It is the suburban area and its also the furtherest north of the city. The further south you travel the more dense the population gets with some brick walkup neighborhoods in the south of the borough but its generally a green suburban area. Crime is the lowest in the entire city and its population are rated the wealthiest out of the whole city. Most residents in North Hobson work and commute to either Harpsworth of Hemwick.
Landmarks
Christine Hill and Lookout
The Markets

Inlington
Population: 1,743,000
Inlington is the most dangerious and poverty filled area of the city. It is inhabbited with the lowerclass and crime is everywhere. buildings are abandoned and nothing is working to revive the unfortunate Borough. it was once a suburban area but large scale construction and the creation of the projects and the Hobson Highway in the late 60's has led to the development of a large slum and ghetto. House prices are the cheapest in the city becuase of the crime and low desirability this has forced new arrivals and immigrants to live in this area becuase of its affordability. The borough President recently said that Inlington had hit rock bottom when he was addresing crime in that area.
Landmarks

Harpsworth
Population: 2,312,000

It is situated on a long penninsual inbetween Carter Island to the south, Kingsmith and Olsenburg on a large northern Penninsula across the Harpsworth River and a smaller Penninsula of Hemwick to the west. It has an extremely active day life and night life. Its teeming with businessmen and office towers. like the rest of the city crime is a problem but not as much as most of the other boroughs. The government of the city resides here.

Harpsworth Park

Olsenburg
Population: 2,211,000

This area of the city is not so bad as it is rated as 3rd best borough after North Hobson and Harpsworth. its also the second most populous. Olsenburg sits across from Inlington divided by the small Inlington River. its the northern portion of a large penninsula with Kingsmith located to the southeast and Harpsworth penninsula located south across the Harpsworth River.
Landmarks
Peace Plaza
Olsen Bay Beach
China Town

Kingsmith
Population: 2,184,000
Kingsmith in the 1970's use to be suburbs and brick walkups but has been highly developed into another mass slum of brick block aparments, walkups and projects. It is a densly populated area of the city and some small businesses. Crime is quite a problem in the western area of the Borough mainly around Little Italy and near the bridges. The mafia has a strong hold in this area of the city and corrouption in the Borough government is everywhere. After Inlington and Carter Island, Kingsmith is the nest most dangerous and crime filled though crime related deaths is set to take over Carter Islands sad statistic and its predicted that after 2008 Kingsmith will be the next most crimefilled after Inlington.

HISTORY OF HOBSON CITY

It was a time of colonization in America. the new world was where everything was happening. Under the command of General Hobson a ship full of 450 colonists set sail for the east coast of America.

In January 1708 General Hobson's ship sailed down a river in between a large penninsula and an island. The River was named Hobson River. The Colonists landed and unloaded on the middle Penninsula which was named Harpsworth for the comment Sir Carter made (Second in Command) to General Hobson when he said "This land is worth the greatest song a Harp could produce"

The city expanded quickly. more and more people swelled into the city. industry was created, farms were made and more construction occured.
Slavery was allowed and they were brought from Africa. Then came America's war of independence. Because of a lot of profitable deals the city had with britain it was not keen to leave Britains influence and so it remained a birtish colony after a couple of unsucessful invasions from the American forces.

It kept out of the American civil war but it did ban slavery at around about the same time. Finally in 1901 it declared full independence and was allowed to govern itself.

Its most proserous time was during World War 1 and the 1920's. During the war is sold armaments to the allies making it lots of money and then after the war the city made money from american tourists fleeing from Prohibition. it was around about this time the Mafia became extremely active smugling booze from Hobson City to the USA. crime flourished during the 30's, 40's but by the 50's a new style of crime emerged with unorganized drugs, murders and it grew from there.

The 1970's and 1980's were the worst period in the cities history with extreme crime, unemployment, decay, gang warfare and drugs. Murders and shootings were rated the cities bigest killer

Currently the city is still stagnating but the situation has improved since the 70's and 80's

City Organizations

HPD = Hobson Police Department
Corruption has made the policeforce basically useless. the only crimes the police actually pursue are small time drug busts and traffic crimes. most notably in Inlington the police have refused to help in anyway for fear of thier lives which worsens the problem for that Borough

Hobson Generals
The Hobson Generals are the local Baseball Team. They are quite popular with thier games always maxing out the stadium seats. The stadium use to always be over full but one tragiz stampead in 1988 causing 94 deaths resulted in tighter controls and rules on stadium capacity.

Veterans Association (VA)
An organization created to appreciate the soldiers who gave thier lives and faught in wars. They hold a parade and memorial ceremony every year on November 10th as it was the day some Hobson City soldiers died in a horrific blood bath in WW1 and that day has forever been known as Veterans Day in Hobson City

Organization for the Beutification of Hobson City (OBHC)
A government created project to clean up the streets. starting with the elimination of graffiti act. though all of the projects have failed and the city is just as dirty as its always been the spirit is there. They even had a radical plan in the 80's of putting up fake windows and pot plants in Inlingtons abandoned buildings to make the borough seem less disgusting
