Thirty years of diplomatic isolationism end(MT, Mostly open, ATTN: Soviets)

Madrid... who could have ever imagined your fate? Perhaps it could have happened earlier, but it seems that, if that was your fate should Franco lose the war a century ago, maybe it have been in the end for the better. It is deeply ironic how almost the same symbol of a force which, in a very superficial and poor view, was that of "democracy against fascism", has become something entirely different. Perhaps It is again the time to ask: ¿Dónde está Nin? And maybe be briefly answered by Third Spanish States: "En el corazón de la Confederación, ello será homenajeado, porco Stalinista, en su fin". And indeed, paranoia has became the rule across the new masters of the oppressed Iberian peninsula.

The room was splendid in its reformed marble floor and brown walls. Red banners with sickles and hammers flew in both ends of the large meeting hall. Silk red curtains gently appeased the strong sunlight from reaching the room in all intensity and foamed red wooden chairs stood as royally as possible after all those years. The Palacio de la Moncloa has been for more than thirty years the primary home of the new ruling government in Spain: the Partido Comunista de España, or Spanish Communist Party. In the center of a large round oak table decorated with ivory, an impending figure stood, with its mere presence alone inspiring all those nearby to bow and salute him, his brown eyes apparently penetrating into the deepest layers of thoughts of all those he looked at, as if in constant surveillance of all. The individual appeared to have come straight from a picturesque communist propaganda of old. Tall, imposing, apparently strong of will and with an unquestionable certainty in his eyes that he was always right, almost sociopathic, Carlos Cavallo was about in his sixties, and have been for three decades the unchallenged president of the República Popular Española, although in reality, he was a dictator of unquestionable absolute power for all this time. Those who questioned his choices simply "ceased to exist", to the point all records of their existences were summarily eliminated, and all those close to them were forcefully made to forget them. From here, they could end as eternal prisoners of "Haciendas Proletarias", which were little more than death camps, or simply be tortured and executed by the "Policía Especial", which was only another secret police modeled by the 20th century NKVD, although being infamously less efficient. Or if really unlucky, they would end into "re-education facilities" to be tortured for continuous years until reduced to fully obedient slaves, to then be sold into the bustling market of human beings which even today consists into their greatest source of exports.

Cavallo simply spoke, and nobody have made even a single noise, almost as if his mere speech was enough to frighten all those around him. His voice and manner of speaking were reminiscent of the past, and it would be difficult for someone hearing his speeches to not associate him with men like Stalin or Mao.

"Comrades, we have for many years remained beneath the spot, hiding and living to our own borders only. We have watched passively as what we could have quelled before have become the greatest and closest threat to Communism. The fifth column of international capitalism, the Anarchist Confederacy of Third Spanish States, is now very close to an attack. I have received recent reports from our operatives that they have completed an anti-ballistic system that will make our mighty nuclear missiles obsolete and easily defended by them. That was the only reason they have not tried to, backed by the international bourgeoisie, invade us, and now it is gone. With no deterrent, it is only a matter of time before they decide to invade us, to put the filthy bourgeois back to power and put all the proletariat into the deepest misery.", he said, in perhaps a majestic example of doublethink, for even him was well aware that life has only become worser since he got into power. Forced labor has become the rule rather than exception and their economic situation, decadent, is only delayed in its final collapse by the slave trade. Nobody risked to interrupt him as he gave a few seconds of interval, probably because of fear rather than of having little to say, for it was visible a certain wicked mood, a sensation reeking all around the place that sooner or later one of their "comrades" would backstab them. Everyone was having such feeling, even Cavallo himself. It was entirely normal for the less cautious Party members among the upper ranks to be framed and "cease to exist" by the hands of ambitious young Party members, and nobody could ever change that reality. For even among the Party, there was no unity, only cohesion through fear.

"We have a strong, numberful red army to defend the revolution from counter-revolutionary traitors like them, but we cannot pretend that our army is perfect, for it isn't. We have long been deprived of technologies, and our nation does not have the needed size to compete with major bourgeois powers in technology. Now, will we wait here, and allow to be overwhelmed by superior technologies that the fifth column of the bourgeoisie have acquired? Comrades! I am very glad to remind you that in the latest decade, communism has risen again, and we are not completely alone anymore. We must locate key suppliers to allow us to match the technology of the Bourgeois Confederacy, and we must also secure key exports of oil to ensure our continual stability and military power. Therefore, I propose that we open our communications again to the outside world. We have not much knowledge yet, but hopefully other communist forces shall answer to our call to protect against the petit bourgeois counter-revolution. We must open ourselves to the communist world, least we perish into the hands of the Capital."

After he mentioned the Capital among the usual Stalinist rhetoric, Carlos have given space for others on the room to manifest their points of view with a chilling silence which seemed augmented by what could not be described with better words than "fear of speaking". It took almost thirty seconds for a man to take courage to speak to the president. It was a short bald man, of about a meter and sixty-seven, with thick grey eyebrows and black eyes. Thus he spoke, with a few glimpses of fear in the manner he behaved:

"Comrade Cavallo, won't that also draw attention of the worldwide bourgeoisie towards us? Can't we really afford to defend ourselves with our current technology? I have a deep trust into the capabilities of our Su-27 Flankers and MiG-29 Fulcrums to ensure our air superiority. I have witnessed tales of brilliant men defeating the so called fifth and sixth generation fighters with the cheap and almost a hundred of years old F-4s of the United Capitalist States. The best armies are not those with the best technology, but those who master how to make the best use of their available technologies. Our terrain is at our favor, and if they attempted an amphibious assault, as I have serious doubts our neighbors shall allow them passage, our coastal defenses would crush them or severely damage them. They have a pathetically small military comrade, and we can easily outnumber them to the point their claimed technological superiority will be completely irrelevant. I believe the risks are greater than the rewards of such movement, but I will understand your wise view if you do not agree, comrade"

From another corner of the room, another man, younger and at apparently his late thirties, with a long black beard, large hair, pointy nose and a facial caricature which could almost remind one of the face of a rat, and apparently as traitorous and vile as one, stood and with an aggressive tone of voice said:

"Juán is a fifth columnist of Third Spanish States! He is suggesting us to stick to our obsolete technology because he wants to aid their invasion! He is a traitor comrades! A counter-revolutionary seeking to weaken us with pre-made opinions his bourgeois puppeteers told him to tell us!"

Carlos Cavallo was a difficult man to present an opposing argument to, but on the other hand, he was equally a very easy man to manipulate by the mere fact of agreeing with his position. Horacio has recently joined the upper ranks of the Party, following an ambitious, ruthless growth through the framing of several of his "comrades" ranks above him. Accusers were usually very quick to ascend the hierarchical ladder of the Communist Party, and whereas some took their entire lives of blind devotion and obedience to reach the upper echelon, men like Horacio came and sealed their fates with unfounded accusations done merely for their selfish goals.

"Red Guard! Arrest this traitor, Juán Mendelles!", Cavallo then quickly shouted in an ire-filled voice, and the entire room became silent as an empty den of snakes. Nobody dared to raise a hand against it, no matter how Juán Mendelles have been one of the most loyal members of the Party. Perhaps one of the few who have joined from pure innocence and detachment from the reality, one of the dying breed of members who naively believed everything the Party did was for the greater cause of communism, the usual victims of ruthless rats like Horacio Uribe.

"No! I have served the Party and the Proletarian cause for my entire life! How can you do this? Please, I only thought it would be wise to point my opinion! All I do is for the best of the Party! Comrade Cavallo, give me a chance to prove my loyalty, don't! Argh!..."

Before his irritating pleading could continue, one of the guards knocked a taser straight against his nether region, and the old man felt in the ground defenselessly, agonizing of pain as those soldiers violently kicked and punched him. The entire group of Party members was indifferent to the event, for they have been trained to doublethink, from now on they should believe vehemently in the lie that Juán Mendelles never existed until they eventually would forget him, and all the other countless Party members who ended into firing squads, death camps or slavery. The climate around the room was perhaps more oppressive than the climate outside it. With a brief opening of those curtains, it would be clearly visible how life has become since the Communist Party. A decadent, rotting Madrid surrounded the palace, with several old buildings, half broken streets, piles of rubbish and an noxious smog far far away from gas chambers where "undesirables" like anarchists, catholics, religious, democratic socialists, or even those unfortunate enough inside the Party to be framed, or perhaps still being fortunate enough to not end in forced labor camps or being sold as slaves, were killed in an industrial rate, filling eternally Madrid with a looming smog of death over its decaying cityscape. The arenas for toradas have become major public execution spots, parts of sewers were converted into horrible prisons and all women are property of the State, and were obliged to lay with any Party member interested at them, while equally obliged to have children constantly to attend to the demands of the slave market, against their will. Spain have become such a totalitarian nightmare that many would rather have lived under the rule of Franco than under the rule of Cavallo, all of those currently also dead or worse, or soon to be.

"Now as you see comrades, only traitors would disagree to the undeniable truth we currently have no means of defeating things like stealth technology, ultra-agile aircrafts, powerful navies and alike, let alone survive should they convince the Trotskyists bourgeois State of Beth Gellert to join their crusade against real communism. I have been informed of some communist nations around, particularly of a nation named Stoklomolvi, which in turns seem to be close to another nation which possess an embassy into the land of the bourgeois Confederacy. On the alarmism that traitor used as a pretext to promote a decision which would benefit our enemies, I will ensure that the chances of the message arriving at the wrong hands will be minimum comrades. Hopefully soon one of our potential allies shall contact us and offer aid or trade. Alta La República!", he said either with enthusiasm or insanity, as the decision was solidified. It was clear that probably there were some who disagreed, but the fear and terror were too great, and the risk of being framed with false denounces to the easily manipulable Cavallo even greater. In practice all those councils were a gigantic sham, for although in theory all the upper members of the Party should reach a consensus, in practice Cavallo was the undisputed ruler of Soviet Spain. And again his word became action as a new diplomatic message came across the world.

The People's Republic of Spain has for many years been under the utmost isolationism to ensure its own external and internal sovereignty, for the meaning of national sovereignty seem to have been forgotten as many would be world policemen roam the world enforcing their visions. However, in the hopes that by again reuniting with communism across the globe we shall ensure prosperity for both sides, and strengthening our cause against the continual threats of counter-revolutionary forces, fifth columns of Trotskyism and the bourgeoisie themselves which threaten the march of the dictatorship of the proletariat towards the final stage of communism. We would ask, if possible for help and trade. We have much to offer to our comrades across the globe, but we equally have many necessities as well. To stick to our principles, from each according their capabilities to each according to their necessities, we hope to extend our communism into an international trade for each to offer their capabilities and have their necessities attended. If you are interested, please reply to this message and we shall discuss this further, through more safe channels to ensure that no bourgeois shall use information to cheat us economically. Also, we ask for our independence and sovereignty to be recognized, and if possible, guaranteed as well.

(OOC Notes: First, don't even try to make threats of invasion because this is a part of a planned roleplay deeply related to the history of my main nation Third Spanish States, so you can make statements condemning them blah blah blah genocide blah blah blah, or offer them support or trade.

There is a HUGE difference between recognizing and guaranteeing independence. Recognizing independence is a mere formality which will have no significant geopolitical consequence other than approaching the People's Republic of Spain from your NationState. Guaranteeing independence however implies into getting into a casus belli (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casus_belli) with anyone who threatens their sovereignty during a period of five years after their independence have been guaranteed officially, and that is what Third Spanish States is going to do. So if you decide to guarantee them independence you are actually giving them an unilateral protection from you. Of course your nation is not obliged to get into war because of it, but guaranteeing a nation government independence and doing not while it is being attacked won't do well for the IC reputation of your NS, so this shouldn't be taken lightly.

Thus I would like to have another rule here. I ask for no nations larger than 3 billion to guarantee independence to Soviet Spain because that would screw up completely the roleplay I've been planning with another unrealistic, boring and dull dogpiling and the subsequent IGNORE-strike and fail retcons, and I ask for no more than 3 nations to guarantee independence to it(unless you are already assuming that your nation is not going to ICly keep their word on guaranteeing it). Although I can make exceptions provided there won't be a Mega-Spam of expeditionary military forces because of it. )

The People's Republic of Spain has been stripped for a long time from all wealth its lands could provide by the former capitalists governments. Thus we have a very limited source of trade to offer in products, mostly coming from our local heavy chemical industries. We can provide several solutions, substances, acids and alike for your industrial and scientific needs. However it is actually limited in scope, and I am afraid we have a very limited surplus of these products. On the other hand, we have a bustling surplus of something that is worth much more than any wealth. Loyal, determined and obedient servants to the interest of the people. They are what we can offer and probably attend all your needs regarding human resources. We have inherited a nation ravaged by civil war and exploitation, with many resources on the verge of depletion, and had to take drastic measures to ensure its survival and the stability of the revolution. Thus we are offering as many servants as you might need and up to 300 tons of chemicals yearly for exports. Our most strategic needs are respectively oil, any possible ore and modernization of our old technologies.

With a new communist state on the stage, Stoklomolvi must protect the new communist nations of the world. Thus, we hereby guarantee the independence of Soviet Spain. If any nation dares to attack said nation, Stoklomolvi will be forced to retaliate with full force. In addition, we extend our hand in friendship with an offer of $200,000,000,000 to rebuild the torn economy of Soviet Spain. We have a massive oil field in our east, and we invite Soviet Spain to drill there as to fuel the Spanish economy.

Perhaps it was yet to be seem how far a government could extend and expand the list of crimes against mankind, but on such subject, the government of the People's Republic of Spain could easily be proud of itself as one of the most atrocious and brutal. There was something really wicked, the annihilation of freedom itself right from birth, a practice becoming increasingly common, linked directly to their most hated crime: the trafficking of human beings.

"Obey! Obey! Obey! Obey!", the recorded voice repeated into a continual pace, in a room which had countless of poorly maintained cradles, mixing into a cacophonic mess of shouts and pre-set phrases. Thousands of babies were placed around, tended by a miserously small number of people. Those who cried were summarily slapped until they stopped.

That was never forgotten by a nameless man. All he learned and was induced was to always obey without question, he was from birth raised to be one of those sold into slavery to avoid the economy of Spain from imploding in its decadent tread. Perhaps the most abominable, for such children... they were entirely innocent, they never even challenged or fought against the same government which rewarded them with an uncertain fate of certain misery, with no family, no loved ones and no friends. Children not raised, but bred like obedient animals, not educated, but trained like dogs to obey their masters. Such was another reason to add to the hypocrisy of their self-proclaimed proletarian government. Indeed, perhaps not even the most ruthless modern capitalist could have reached the level of their inhumanity and brutality against their own people and children.

This was the glorious nation which now had its right to continue committing atrocities for more five years with no real fear anymore guaranteed. This was the real face of the People's Republic of Spain. Some have attempted to argue on it. In the same room, with the same individuals of the Party, suddenly a short feminine, middle-aged figure with curly black hair and brown yes dared to arise and point a question to the supreme leader of the Partido Comunista, with visible signs of fear:

"Comrade Cavallo, I know you are probably right, but do we really need to reward Stoklomolvi with our own children? From the looks of the manner they have written it, I believe they gave us that as a gift to help us against our enemies, and not expecting anything in return. I think we should accept their gift as a gift"

Before anyone could raise fingers or accuse her of plotting something for their own selfish interests, the tall, fearsome man, with a constant look of vigilance piercing through her eyes, spoke, in a uncommonly calm way compared to how he usually replies to those who disagree with him. It was uncommon for him to argument with those who disagreed instead of getting rid of them, although perhaps an explanation for this uncommon fact would yet come:

"Comrade Cecilia, that is not because we are not accepting what they offered us as a gift. We must strengthen our bland ties with Stoklomolvi to ensure they will really honor their word on protecting our sovereignty. And what could be better for that than sending them a batch of our people raised to be entirely loyal and immune to counter-revolutionary ideas to live with them?"

Perhaps that have been worser, for Cecilia assume he was giving space for a long discussion, because she was a woman, and there was a certain reminiscent gently, chivalry of the Spanish people towards women which led them to be more tolerated than man. In fact, sometimes it was even common for woman to be given a second chance after going against the government, and this was the primary reason why the political police of the Communist Party was infamously inefficient. Their officers would rarely disturb the sleep of a lady to search for "counter-revolutionary material", and usually, they preferred to slightly suggest first, rather than going all the way to force them to become pregnant, and their propagandas were seeking to actively avoid a link between mother and son and to soothe mothers whose sons were taken by the State, to reduce the psychological pain of the loss. In fact it was almost absurd how, despite compulsory pregnancy cycles and service to the pleasures of high party members, things were much better for women in Soviet Spain. Nonetheless, Cecilia got too far:

"Comrade Cavallo, please take some time to understand this point of mine, I will be completely honest here, and I swear to the Revolution I would kill myself by cutting of my own arms if this had anything to do with treason. I know we need this to recover from the damages of the war, but, should we really sell our own children to all, including capitalists? Shouldn't we restrict our compulsory migrations to only other communist States, so they can offer us aid? I don't trust capitalists, and I fear they might backstab us one day."

The face of Cavallo became incredibly red of anger as he shouted to her:

"Are you letting seditious thoughts? We need to export those who sacrifice themselves to ensure our families will not starve! I would have asked the guards to arrest someone like you otherwise, but I believe you can redeem yourself. To prove your devotion to the cause, I ask you to have a son, right now, with anyone you choose to serve our needs."

Sighing a little, Cecilia nodded pathetically and said, with no qualms or resistance to what he "asked" her to do, for she knew quite well he could not be as tolerant again should she continue questioning his decision, and now all she could do was to think secretly about those poor souls condemned to a life of slavery:

"I am sorry, Comrade Cavallo, I will be more careful to not allow seditious thoughts again. I believe you have the best bred of great men with you, shall we?"

The man then became much calmer again, as both left the hall with hands together. In a brief moment, a single tear felt from Cecilia eyes, but other than that, there was no noticeable glint of emotion in her ways. It was entirely technical, almost like the induce reproduction of animals in certain farms, and they were indoctrinated to not consider it abhorrent or strange, for at least Cecily had not the same fate of Juán, the last one who questioned Cavallo before her. Again, the greatest inefficiency of the thought policing in the People's Republic of Spain led to a consequence, and it wouldn't take much longer before some aware foreign forces could take advantage of it.

For now, a new message would arrive to Stoklomolvi.
