Downtown St. Alvido, Mokastana

"FOWARD! MARCH!"

The International Workers Parade of St. Alvido was the largest in Mokastana, over 60 million people took to the street, another 40 million in the parades. Down main street LY4A1 Wolfhound Main battle tanks rolled, each with the Mokan Red Star on the front. In front of tanks Marched 20 by 20 formations of the 1st Main Battle Division, The Reds, each marching in parade uniform with AM-07s hand. Behind the LY4A1s rolled another group of tanks, each with gunner on top and commander carrying the Standard AM-07V Vehicle team Variant. Soldiers saluted and waved to the crowds, showing off the might of the Mokastana's People's Army.

Giving that St. Alvido considers itself the birth of socialism for Mokastana it always enjoyed a good show. Crowds cheered and waved Mokan Flags and other Red Flags, showing their support for the working class. Every major road was closed for this event, the only places of work still working were essentials, the power plants and water works. Even then they only worked 4 shifts, in honor of Labor Day. It wasn't much of a day off, as every shift had to work on it, but it still allowed everyone to enjoy the festivities of May Day.

The parade total included an entire Battle Division and the marine Division stationed in St. Alvido. Hundreds of tanks, Soldiers, tank destroyers and artillery pieces rolled down all major highways in a loop around the city, from the base back to the base, about 15,000 men deep, or 5 miles behind the beginning of the parade, was a LY219 Ironheart Armoured Multirole Tactical Vehicle with Generalissimo Ivan Canarias on top. He had a microphone and speakers were attached to both his Ironheart and the 6 or so around him.

"My Fellow Mokans, thank you for coming out to support the Glorious army of the Republic. Without your support there is not doubt none of this would be here. The army serves you, you, the people of Mokastana, they defend you and do their duty for you. They are your brothers and sisters, fathers and cousins. Your fellow workingman at arms. Each soldier is the represntation of Mokan industry at work. The engineers who design the rifle, the worker who builds it, the men and women who makes the uniforms and clothes for both the soldiers and workers, the shoemaker who gives them all footwear, and of course the farmers who grow the foods to feed each and every one of us here.

And now may I indroduce the newest addition to the Mokan Arsenal, the FXJ-05, using the standard 7.62x54mm round this rifle is modernized and brought up to par with all other main battle rifles of the world. With accuracy up to a hundred meters these rifles will be introduced to the army over the next six months, starting with the Jaguars to the National Guard units. Soon the AM-07 will be sold to rest of the working class.

Viva La Revolucion!"

Various parades were held in Uiri for what is known as Labor Da which falls on May 1. Everyone had a day off from work and it was a PA Day for most children who actually attended school too.

"Are you getting that, Nicholas?"
The camera man nodded. "Sure, Johann. Now, smile, we're on the air".
Looking into the camera, the news reporter started. "Good afternoon. As you can see, I'm standing here in St. Alvido, Mokastana, where the May Day celebrations are going on. People are taking to the streets en masse; it seems that everyone wants to see the International Worker's Parade". The camera swept over cheering crowds and tanks and IFVs rolling by. "Behind me, General Canarias has just finished his speech. As you can hear, the crowd is really enthusiastic about it".

In the studio in Zahran, the news anchor smiled. "Thank you, Johann". He turned to the camera. "We'll get back to Johann Eishof and the celebrations in Mokastana soon. We will take a short pause now. After the commercials, a debate about the situation in Wulfenstein. Guests are Interior Minister Conrad Sterling and new governor of Wulfenstein Zacharias Gern. Stay tuned for Zatellite News, Zaheran's prime news network". The TV studio was replaced by a commercial for a new dish soap.

Back in Mokastana, the news crew packed up their stuff in their van. Johann climbed into the front seat. "Take us closer", he ordered the driver. "I want an interview with Canarias for the next transmission".

Behind Canarias' Ironheart was a group of miners in the parade. Each in formal wear, denim jeans and a T-shirts, they waved with pick axes at their sides. Unlike the military they were not in a formation. Instead they just formed a mob of people who joined the parade. One of the odd things about the St. Alvido parade was that entire sections were left blank for people to join in, it was in honor of the workers after all. As long as you could keep up with the parade you were welcomed to join, a few civil medals were even given out to civilians who started and ended at the base with the army. Going the full way on foot in the may Day parade was considered something great to do, the small medal was given to each ground soldier and person at the end in a quick televised ceremony.

"Behind me you can see the glorious miners of Mokastana, men who mine every natural recourse that our country needs and exports for the benefits of the working class around the world. Their projects range from mining the Wellovian mountains to expanding the Panama Canal to fit even the largest Dreadnoughts in the fleet, soon ships from every country, no matter the size, can cross the oceans and use the massive structures to ensure both land traffic and sea traffic can pass. At the same time!"

As for interviews, all news crews were sent to the St. Alvido Citizen Army Base to meet with high ranking personnel after the parade. Three hours later Generalissimo Ivan Canarias walked into the room with all the news crews as the strobe light of camera flashes went off. He stood at the podium and squinted as the camera's continued to go off. He raised his hands to signal for the camera's to stop.

"I will answer questions as soon as the camera's stop."

"Generalissimo Canarias, is it true that President Adam Jackson is under house arrest by the army?"

"Well that is a interesting start....yes it is, his failure to intervene on behalf of TAP while mokan citizens were killed was not only a major let down to the families of those killed in Tortuga, but to Mokan pride as well. It was our duty to help out TAP while they were being attacked, and now thanks to the actions of the workers of Mokastana City and members of the Republican Guard as well as the 4th Battle Division we are now sending the help they need. We can have an update on the naval war as soon as we get it. Next question."

The Zaheranian news team pushed their way through the crowd of reporters. The press conferance was broadcasted live, and they wanted to get as close as possible. Johann saw Canarias enter and shoved a TVZ reporter out of the way. He opened his mouth to ask the first question, but another reporter was faster.

"Generalissimo Canarias, is it true that President Adam Jackson is under house arrest by the army?"

A military coup in Mokastana? He could see a possible scoop dance before his eyes and nearly missed Canarias's reply.

Bingo. He saw that the TVZ reporter had opened his mouth and punched his rival in the stomach with his elbow. The man gasped for breath, giving Johann the time he needed. "Generalissimo Canarias, does this mean that Mokastana is now ruled by a military junta?"

The young tourist from One Starr was generally over looked as he wended his way through the crowds. There really wasn't much to single him out and he was nothing remarkable to look at. He made sure to get plenty of pictures for the folks back hom. OS had been so busy with it's own troubles that just going out and playing tourist hadn't been in vogue over the last few years.

With the troubles settled however there was money and safety enough for people to gbegin travelling again. And Falcone was one of those venturesome persons. Shortly he stopped to listen to someone important get interviwed, but he wasn't quite sure whom the person was. Still the question was one he was interested in hearing an answer to.

"Are the rumors true? Are the Burburry Five getting back together?"

He hoped so, he just loved their music.

Harry Kilroy, a 22 Year Old Ashland University Student was spending his gap year in Mokastana because he wanted his World Culture Studies Degree project to be about Mokan Culture. He wound his way through the parade taking pictures of the May Day parade. He stopped for a moment at a Newspaper Kiosk and began to look at the Newspapers on the racks in front of him. "Hmm" he thought "They even have the 'Colstream Times' here." He paid for the paper and looked at the headline. "WAR CONTINUES IN MORIABIA." He continued to read the front page as he walked down the street.

"Generalissimo Canarias, does this mean that Mokastana is now ruled by a military junta?"

Generalissimo Canarias frowed at the next question, he was hoping for a nice press release about the worker's day parade and a few nice articles about how the army and workers are working together for the glory of Mokastana and all that, but, this was the press, what else would you expect....

"Parliament is still in power, to be honest the overthrow of President Jackson could not have happened without their help. Let me give you a rundown of the events that occurred so you understand what happened. Once video from The American Privateer hit the media the public was outraged, for while relations with TAP have been relatively new watching a friendly nations citizens get massacred was not something we were going to allow, especailly at the hands of nations such as Leocardia and The North Baltic, whom we had fought in the defense of Greal. The people protested to send the fleet to assist in TAP, but the government did nothing. Therefore I lead my division the 2nd Battle Division, to assist the protesters in case the president used the Republican Guard as a police force. After meeting with the General of the Republican Guard we arrange that neither side would open fire on eachother. With that my soldiers escorted the protesters into Parliament where parliament voted for a stand down of the Republican Guards and voted for war in TAP's favor. However without the presidential approval it would not pass. Therefore me and Admiral Franshaw removed the president from power and now hold him under house arrest. Technically I am the temporary Head of State, however I am allowing Parliament to run effectively and without interference. The Republican Guard is still under their orders and the President is being treated with the respect he deserves. New elections will occur as soon as Parliament passes them."

Johann smiled, enjoying his time in the limelight. He knew that approximately 600 million Zaheranian citizens were seeing him grilling Canarias on live TV. If this went well, he could look forward to a comfortable job and a fat salary. Once again, he raised his voice. "What you are saying is in other words that you and the parliament launched a coup d’état to remove the president from office to be able to start a war against another nation, is that correct?

"What you are saying is in other words that you and the parliament launched a coup d’état to remove the president from office to be able to start a war against another nation, is that correct?

Canarias smiled, given that this was an open forum, in the middle of a now publicly opened military base people were watching from the sides of the press this discussion. Apparently this guy did not know main islanders. Next to Harry Kilroy was a college bound Mokan Girl, she had just been accepted into The University of Cubano, the best school in Mokastana for Engineering, and by her looks, would distract many classmates from the lectures. After listening to this she yelled from the crowd,

"SCREW PRESIDENT JACKSON! VIVA LA REVOLUCION!"

Many Mokans in the crowd cheered at that. Even Generalissimo Canarias smiled at her, then he turned his attention to the reporter, he hoped this guy would get the message soon enough.

"You see amigo," he started slowly, "When the public wants something, like to help out a friendly nation, especailly when 24 Mokan tourist are missing due to a action caused by a former enemy, another 16 confirmed dead. They get pissed about it. Check Mokan history books, they will do whatever it takes to get their will done. Even this fair city has rises in arms, alone, against a currupt government to bring back the will of the people!"

Another cheer from the crowd....

"Call it whatever you want, Adam Jackson was a coward and my president, just unfit for the office he had gotten himself into, and unlike most nations we are little more effective at removing unfit leaders."
Zaheran
04-05-2008, 21:22
The Mokans were clearly becoming upset. Johann saw the TVZ reporter smile wickedly and gave the man the finger, outside of the camera view of course. He decided to back of a little. "In what way will Mokastana be affected by the new goverment, except for the war? Are you planning any fundamental changes?"
Mokastana
05-05-2008, 02:49
"Mokan society will not be changed majorly at all, in a week or so new presidential elections will occur. The former government still stands, both in formation and persons in charge, however Adam Jackson will have to re-bid for the presidency, if you want the full details of the action I can meet with you after the questions. Now do we have any other questions?"

As the questions continued on the crowed cheered, many posters from the civilians trying to earn The May Day Marching medal showed workers and farmers with the old hammer and sickle. However most were of Mokan revolutionary heroes: The Zapatas, the Villas, and of course, random working class members.
Once the Q n A was over two Mokan soldiers went up to the reporter, politely asking him to come with them.
Zaheran

The news crew were packing when the soldiers appeared. Johann was initially suspicious. Canarias probably didn't like him much, and there would be no big protest from his government if he "disappeared". But seeing the two soldiers, he figured he didn't have much of a choice. Sighing he followed the Mokans.
Mokastana
05-05-2008, 15:57
The soldiers lead him past the crowds and towards a large administration building. Upon getting to the door one flashed his ID to the scanner and the sound of a large click could be heard as the door unlocked. Upon opening it there were two other guards inside, security of course. The small concrete room had a medal detector and a door on the other side, the reporter was past through it, and after the military took all his medal goods, they lead him threw the next door to....a cube farm, it was administration after all. Leading him down the hall they made a few turned here and there, many signs he saw were merely just names, and vague titles like "D Company logistics." One of the more odd ones was called: "Penguin buyers," they lead him down to a office with no windows on their side but the door was opened. On it the words: "Resident Generalissimo" stood out, inside was Canarias sitting down at his chair with another sat in front of the desk, numerous pads and papers tossed about.

"Welcome, I did not get your name, forgive the scare tactic of having soldiers pick you up, but I know how you reporters like a thrilling opening. So lets get something straight, you want a good story, I want to get the truth out about the coup and I want the international community to support someone other then Mr. Jackson in the next election, do you think we can have a deal?"
Zaheran
05-05-2008, 19:33
The truth about the coup in Mokastana? Johann almost drooled at the thought. There you could talk about securing one's career. It would be the greatest scoop of the year. And if that meant licking Canarias's boots a little, well, it as worth it. "Certainly", he said high. "Give me my story and I will give you the support of the international community".
Mokastana
06-05-2008, 01:59
"Well let me be honest, its not that exciting and despite your annoyances out there you seem to be the man worth the inside scoop. If you will. While TAP is the main reason we could achieve the coup it was in the works for quite some time. You see, the Mokan people are a very passionate bunch, and when you don't serve them right they get pissed. From the public eye, Adam Jackson was elected after the civil war and soon lead the country against Rithian, into Greal again, and a few other wars that I am sure you can find. Now when it came to the latest Greal Conflict we attacked and fought off Leocardia and her allies. However when the allies back off and Leocardia and company invaded TAP he refused to help. To the public his word cannot be trusted. Therefore he was to be removed. From the military's eye he is a coward. Generalissimo Manuel Durkin saved him from a coup by Generalissimo Serrano during the civil war. Then he comes to power trying to flex the Mokan military muscle acting like a child with a 20 million man army at his disposal. All of the Generalissimos agreed that he needed to be removed, however mass public support would be needed. We even met with the head of the Republican Guard, General Castro Mencia to make sure nothing would go bad in the coup, he told us that he would only stay neutral in the coup, and only on orders from parliament, if they ordered him to intervene, he would. The problem was with parliament, that the second largest party was his Confederate Mokastana Party.

OCC: continue later

Therefore we waited for the right moment.

Generalissimo Canarias coughed and took a drink of water.

"I personally talked to the head of the People’s Armed Republic Party and he said while he recognized that Adam Jackson was incomplete he wasn't about to allow a military coup occur. We were stuck, to move against him would cause parliament to force the Republican Guard to act, and war would of broken out. No doubt the main island would back us, but the mainland would have pro-Jackson rebellions, namely Mejico and possibly the Sur region, Ironically Tierra Nueva, where he is from, woudn't do much but maybe have a protest or two. During the election he lost to Charles Villa in his own region, many saying that he wasn't competent enough to lead Mokastana, turns out they were right. Then we waited, we watched as he lead Mokan armies to war in little places they could win. It cost him a lot of support from the Peace ballot he was elected on. Then TAP shows millions being killed by the space elevator, he does nothing, so the peace lovers hated him for going to war, and the soldier types hate him for not having the balls to go to war. Luckily the soldier types stage massive protests. A few Molotov's fly, riot control is requested, the Republican Guard is deployed into the Captial, it was time.

I lead my division into the Captial, contact General Castro Mencia and the AMP, I get them to stand down and soon I am leading unarmed protesters into the halls of parliament. Suddenly the AMP joins us and votes to have the Republican Guard stand down and supports the coup, the coup is voted in 149 to 75, just short of the 2/3 for impeachment, but enough to get a coup without to much resistance. So me and Admiral Franshaw march into his office, and arrest him. He will be set free after a new president is elected. Would you like to know anything else?"

Personal Letter to Adam Jackson:

Dear Comrade,

I write to you to wish you a happy may day, as this is a very celebrated holiday in Yanitaria. I've also taken the liberty of sending along a bottle of Oppland Noir. Hope you enjoy it.

Sincerely,
King Frederick Norheim II,
King of the United Royal Provinces of Yanitaria.

Johann looked up from his notes. "I have what i need for the story. However, I need pictures, films if you have it, an interview or two with soldiers and/or parliament members and free access to the parliament building and Mr Jackson's office. Give me that, and i shall give you one hell of a report". He smiled slyly. "It might even evolve into a documentary or something. God, this is going to make me rich".
Mokastana
08-05-2008, 17:32
"What would this documentary be called? A typical day in Mokan politics? We have had a lot worse around here, but then again I trust you will find some "deeper" meaning and get this out of the way. Well Admiral Franshaw departed for TAP a few days ago. Interviews we can do, free access is to much, you will need escorts with you at all times. Preferably someone who knows what is where. Pictures and films, I would suggest talking to General Mencia, he is in Charge of security for government buildings."
Zaheran
08-05-2008, 18:05
The reporter scribbled down the name of the security guy. "That should do. For the name, well, what about Revolution: The Fall of Corruption? We could open the film with statistics on how many deaths Adam Jackson has caused, while showing pictures of dead bodies. Nothing wakes the people's rage like pictures of dead bodies. The best would be if we depicted Jackson as some sort of sadistic Nazi. If me manage to ruin his public image enough no one is going to vote for him ever again. His career as a politician will be ruined forever".

08-05-2008, 18:43
"I don't think we need it that bad, I was hoping for something focusing on the Mokan People showing that they will not tolerate failures from governments, perhaps increase their reputation as a people you don't want to invade. I doubt anyone will elect him to office again.
Zaheran
08-05-2008, 18:52
"You are no fun". Johann shook his head. "Okay, I'll do as you want. Pictures of marching crowds instead of dead bodies, an interview with a factory worker or soldier wo explains why he and the Mokan people wanted Jackson out of office and maybe The Prize of Failure or something as the title. Yeah, that should work. But my idea was still more fun".
Mokastana
08-05-2008, 20:46
"If you want a story like that, how would you like to be flown to TAP to see first hand the damages done by North Baltic, Burlovia and Leocardia. Currently they are under a blockage but we can get around that. Do you like submarines?"
Zaheran
08-05-2008, 21:01
"Never been on one. How so?" He smiled in disbelief. "Wait. You are not trying to smuggle me into TAP aboard a submarine, are you?"

"Someone shot down the space elevator, the whole thing collapsed on a city. From what I heard is that their president is in real bad shape. So I think I have given you more then enough information to make your career, I suggest you go out and make it. If you need to contact anyone, start with the General, I will notify him of what is going on."

"Thank you, Generalissimo. I will try to have the project finished when the Mokan elections start". He bowed politely. "Goodbye, for now". He leaved the room and headed back to his team to inform them of their fortune.
