The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries is a supranational organization whose members work for their own interests. The main interests to OPEC are keeping stable world oil prices, moderating petroleum production and delivering a steady and constant stream of income to member nations.

This is accomplished through quotas for production which moderate the price of a barrel of oil.

OPEC is presently headquartered in Cancún, Mexico.

Nations may apply for membership, provided, of course, that they export a portion of the oil in their lands.

Members:

Confederated Territories of Latin America
Republic of Georgia

OOC: Earth: Second Resurrection only. If you have oil and/or would be an OPEC member in real life just apply here by saying "We'd like to join!" or something like that. We'll have periodic summits to decide on quotas and subsequently the price of oil will be adjusted.

Greece and Italy's main exports are refined petroleum products - however, neither import crude oil. Would the Mediterranean Alliance be welcome here?

I think you have import and export switched around.

And the answer, given OPEC's purposes, would be a no. We're mainly concerned with crude oil.
