General Jack T. Ripper looked around the room at the stacks of photos "official" documents now in boxes - nothing but memories of the greatness that had once been Mauiwowee and his king. Rulers of Australia and the South Pacific, Conquerors of Brazil and much of China - the only nation with guts enough to take on Vineyard and now it was gone, all gone, destroyed, barely a memory. The Black Queen had effectively destroyed it all.
Jack was old, tired. He and the thousand or so men and women still loyal had this small island in the Pacific - A single crumb off the plate of the Feast that had been Mauiwowee. Why bother.
The General opened a drawer in the desk and pulled out his .45 and began to turn it over and over in his hand. A man hardened by war and crushed by politics. The General began to cry.
