Rhodesian States

Rugby is not just a way of life but its a religion in North Salisbury Island, In the news Rugby events usually preceded all but the most important domestic and international news ( and their were a lot of "domestic news" in the trouble land of Rhodesian states)
The game of Rugby appeared to be a simple metaphor for the day to day struggles for the ruling Rhodesian people and a lot of their hopes were pinned on the penultimate grand final of the North Salisbury Island provincial Rugby tournament.
This years grand final was held at Rhodes stadium in Port Rhodes ( The largest and most dorminant city in the nation) The stdium was full to its capacity of 80,000, the fields parameters surrounded by barbed wire, security fences and armed guards ( a true testament to the passion the Rhodesian people have for the sport) and the eligible ( I.e white) "eclectic" crowd (as the announcers put emphasis on) flying the vibrant colours for the two teams playing ( Port Rhodes and Bastion) most of the Rhodesian men women and children all basked in the jouyous atmosphere of the rugby grand final. ( with the occaisional hooligan getting swiflty dealt with by the stadiums own security force)
Spectators passed through the usual massive civil demonstration outside Rhodes stadium and a military garrison of Port Rhodes dealt with "trouble making illegals" with the casual mantra of "business as usual" which was accompanied by the gratitous use of mace, tasers and batons.
( the comparisons and contrasts between military precense both inside and outside the stadiums can obviously be stated, one to keep eligible spectators off the field and the fencing outside to keep inelgible spectators out of the stadium and is a reflection of North Salisbury Islands archaic colonial and racist government domestic policy)
