All news from either side of the Aern Mountain Range reached Nurengard eventually, with the mercheants and the travellers. There was no avoiding it - you could pass through the mountain pass, and pay the toll, with coin or information, or you could try the mountain passes, and die in the hellish maze of rock which where the Aern's. That or go around, for more than a hundred miles to find the next route through. It was therefore destined that news of colonists would wich the lord of the Nurbengard.

'They are invaders in our lands' bellowed the man, speaking from the steps of the bastinion. 'Our anncestors died for the ground we stand on. When they arrived there was nothing here, nothing but the rocks and the tree's. Life has been hard, but we have made a home here. And now there are newcomers, among them the so called 'elder races.' They come to steal our works, to burn our homes, kill our familys. Will we allow this? No, for we are the heirs of the Great Reich! The Empire is long gone, yet we are still here. And when new empires have rose and fallen, we shall still be here! We accepted the arival of the other humans, for they never threatend us and our land. A few villages of nomads and wanderes is no worry to us. But these are a new type of invader, a dangerous one! Will you, men of the Nurengard, stand for this?'

The crowd screamed out in unity, one word, but one word full of fear and pride, expressing more than a thousand others could have - 'NO!!!!'

'We have been lax perhaps, and let the old works age and decay. But no more. Swords shall be sharpened! Walls shall be rebuilt! The Nurengard shall not fall!!!!! Brothers, are you with me?'

This time the cry was not one word, but still expressed the feelings of the people - the men of the Nurengard would stand together, united, against anything or anyone who threatened their lands.
