Overview: The United Balkan States were formed to protect themselves form what they view as Italian and Russian Aggression. Made up the States of Romania, Bulgaria, and Macedonia, the UBS promises to eventually unite the Balkans under one nation and with their militaries rapidly Modernizing, it looks to be coming true
History: Romania and Bulgaria united in 1961, breaking off from the Soviet Union's Warsaw Pact. They quickly switched to a market Economy and began trading heavily with the West. It's own survival was dependant on it. In 1974, the Macedonian Region of Yugoslavia broke away from it's motherstate and joined UBS. It's economy soons switched to market economy and they eventually began to see a radical change from the Soviet Command Economy.
But in 1989 the economy crashed hard. A depression that would last 3 years rocked the country, and almost 40% of Workers were laid off. It was a nightmare situation for the young country. But careful work and help from other Western Nations allowed it to start climbing back up, slowly but surely.
