The League of Venice (ERS)

This is closed, however, this is open. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=555188)

The Austrians have never lost their penchant, or flair, for the excessive, pompous ceremonies of the 18th century- when countries were no more then personal possessions of painfully wealthy families like the Hapsburgs and Victorians. In modern days, with so many other organizations, delegations, and other bodies of people trying their hardest to not offend the feelings of the common man, to not invoke the just anger of those constantly clamoring for social equality, this stunning display of wealth is just that much more eye catching; undoubtedly, Marx is spinning in his grave.

While the small Moorish opinion is, of course, in exactly the opposite direction- they've never quite gotten the hang of spending exorbitant amounts of money needed for more important things, like food for the peons- it is entirely too little to sway the almost primeval instinct that ravages the pocketbooks of the modern Austrian nobility.

The initial meeting for the League of Venice was, ironically, not held in Venice, but Vienna- the city of cafés.

What the Austrian government did to make the dining and diplomatic expirence as painfully affluent to any righteous communist- it was paled in every way by the personal expenditures of the hosting Austrian-Moorish delegation. Every stop was pulled on this roller coaster of decadence, and if one person's wardrobe was less value then some small African countries, then they were surely not off by much- yet their decadence was not the over bearing wealth of new money, this money was old, refined and regal; their simplistic coats and jewelry worth each several thousand (if not several hundred thousand) indicated as much.

The speaker of that nights opening address,*

“The League of Venice is designed to provide mutual support of all sorts to the signatories, while currently more like an un-defined exchange of good will, hopefully within time it will grow to include economic, political, and military support for all members.

It is my personal belief that some countries are superior then others, or for you communists out there, more equal than others… It is our right, our duty, and our privilege to exercise our force in shaping the world- into something that is beneficial to everyone of us. For the world is a large place, and a place that has room for each and every one of us… Yet we must all understand that enough space, is not unlimited space, and thus, this treaty shall hopefully broker goodwill between the signatories, to help solve conflicts, to resolve aggression from outside influences on the member nations.

This shall usher in a new age of European expansionism and domination! It shall be the defining moment of this century, and I hope each and every ne of you join this new order- for you have no idea your potential… Until you have allies willing to help you take the risks each great civilization takes on a daily basis.”

*For the sake of the RP, let us have each delegation who comes, be here already.

Premier Kenavt stirred in his seat. The League of Venice seemed noble and all-but was there a hidden agenda here? He didn't even know why he was here-the invitation was mainly to European countries. However, the Confederacy was a growing power in this world, which he would have to harness for good. Or for his own plans. Either way, the League of Venice seemed like a good place to meet some people.

"Excuse me, please, but why is this called the 'League of Venice'?"

If any non-European power could said to stir the best sort of feelings in the heart of the Austrians, it was the Brazilians- Pedro de Alcântara Francisco Antônio João Carlos Xavier de Paula Miguel Rafael Joaquim José Gonzaga Pascoal Cipriano Serafim de Bragança e Bourbon is by far and above one of the most revered figures, even if most of this reverence comes in hind sight and was distinctly lacking at the time, that side of the Atlantic; in Austrian circles at least.

In short, the Austrians are delighted by the Kenavt observers!

The orator, the President, was just there for the official speeches; the amusing and often times nonsensical Maxen von Bismarck (Chancellor) was there for the questions.

"In short, atheism.

Atheism? Well, yes. Austria is a rather devote nation, and that expresses itself in many ways, including our diplomacy. Yet we have gotten the cold shoulder by many vital, geo-politically, nations because of that- thus, instead of our first choice: Holy League, we have taken the next best thing. For the first Holy League was also called the League of Venice, in reference to the reason of its formation.

Yet that isn't the only reason- the second is because the Holy League/League of Venice was the first banding together of every major European power against another, it was milestone in every aspect of political relations, and I hope that this one shall be the same sort of milestone."

Ms. Lucrezia Dellatorre was used to being second guessed. At five feet, three inches, she didn't intimidate anybody, and she was aware of it. Her intensely-curled black hair came to about her chest, and with a pair of deep green eyes and olive tone to match, was probably more likely to seduce someone than order them around. She knew, and she was prepared for the dismissals; the realm of politics is dominated by men; anyone who says otherwise simply has never been a politician.

But Lucrezia was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs 3 years ago by then-new President, Salvatore DiSano, not because of her award-winning smile, but because of her consistent success in the Ministry under the former Minister - a man who was rather incompetent at getting nations to agree to a meeting date, much less a treaty.

Foreign relations was an issue of huge importance to the Mediterranean Federation. After World War 2 and the ultimate demise (and subsequent public humiliation) of Benito Moussolini, the Italian government had fought against the stigma of Fascism across the globe. Even now, 50 years later, Italians would often have to lie about their heritage in areas heavily populated by Jews just to avoid getting sneered at (French, Greek, and Armenian were popular incognitos.) Indeed, it was this very stigma that had drove Italy to ally with Switzerland and Greece, two of the biggest refuges to persecuted peoples of all types. It was this very stigma that allowed Foreign Policy to remain at the top of the Italian government's to-do list. Indeed, it was this very stigma that found Lucrezia sitting in Vienna, listening to pompously-dressed politicians talk about European Unity.

"On behalf of the Mediterranean Alliance, I wish to join the League of Venice." she stated firmly.

And it was ironic, wasn't it? Venice being a major Italian city, it almost seemed too appropriate.

OOC: @kenavt: Lol, I couldn't resist; he's most referred to as Pedro I, but the temptation was just too strong not to put in that epic (a word I don't use lightly!) name.

IC:

Like a tag team, Maxen von Bismarck effortlessly gave the floor back to the President by a slight inclination of his aristocratic head- the President was able enough to handle the formalities.

"I am more than over-joyed by the acceptance of Italy, Switzerland and Greece into the League. Indeed, to not have you as an accepted member would undoubtably have meant a still born birth for this association of masters- after all, this alliance is yours in as much ways as it is ours.

To have The League of Venice meet at the same building of the original one, to even sit were the states of Europe, or even our ancestors, sat as the French descended on the Italian States is a dream of mine I hope you will try to honor."

Post OOC:

Next meeting is going to have to be in Venice! If that's okay with you of course.

Andel Karlovy slid a sleeve up slightly to check on the time. It ticked away the seconds, the minutes, and the hours. Taunting him. That little Rolex knock-off he bought from a vendor five years ago held mastery over him. It told him when this meaningless fact-finding visit was over. The watch told him he had a long way to go. He sighed and craned his neck around the hall. Just a week prior his boss, Alexander Hradec, Minister of State informed him that he was to: "Go on a little trip and see what the other Europeans were muttering about with this League of Venice".

In reality, the two men hated eachother. Karlovy had the habit of being a thorn in people's sides with his less than diplomatic demeanour. In one meeting a year ago, Karlovy stood up in the middle of a meeting and called Hradec a "Fucking idiot" this comment pertaining to Hradec's decision to reorganize his staff, hiring someone related to himself as opposed to someone qualified. After that incident, he found himself as the errand boy for the Ministry of State.

Personally, he could care less what the other Europeans were planning. His job for this fact-finding mission was to gather as much information as he could pertaining to this meeting, complie a report, and present it to a cabinet meeting with the President next week. Around the table, dignitaries, ambassadors, and government spokesmen droned on and on about stability, security, and economic alliances. He picked at the red pin on his jacket and fixed a tired stare at a random column. The opulance of the hall was staggering and bisbelievng to someone who lived in The Worker's State.

"European expansionism and domination?" Karlovy lazily asked. His voice was deep and almost a grumble. Like a tired bear making an effort to scare a picnicker, "Mr.President, it sounds rather...Imperialistic, wouldn't you say?" he opened his hands and shrugged his shoulders.

OOC: Venice it is. That'd be great.
IC:

Lucrzia smiled politely, not sure exactly who to address. The President seemed personable, if not altogether capable of independent thought, while the Chancellor seemed to know what he was talking about, if not altogether personable. Life's a trade-off, she thought to herself. In the end, however, she chose the President, if for no other reason than for formality's sake.

"Mr. President, The Palazza Te was torn down long ago, so unfortunately, it wouldn't be feasible to hold the meetings in the same building that our ancestors did. However, there is an embassy building waiting for the Austrian Empire in Venice, which will be a wondrous location, indeed."

Lucrezia bowed her head to the President - or Chancellor - and resumed her seat. Score one more point for Ms. Dellatorre. President DiSano would be very pleased, indeed.

OOC: Fantastic! On a differant note- spot on! Vladamir Putin wishes he had this sort of man that Maxen von Bismarck has.

IC:

"Fantastic!" Exclaimed the President, his features lighting up into a true show of genuine excitement.

As any speechwriter knows, people do not always look at the content of the message but how it is presented- the President in this case was picked because of his almost fatherly look, at still a young age. With a weathered face, from his farm in eastern part of the realm, and an almost boyish air of expectancy shining through his perpetual wry grin and restless eyebrows he was indeed one of the best message packaging that the Austrian Unity Party could wish for.

It was also the main reason why the message creator and executor, Maxen von Bismarck, sat back in his chair- his work for the foreseeable future was done.

The President continued, "That is something of a small disappointment, but your alternate accommodations sound more than acceptable."

European expansionism and domination?" Karlovy lazily asked. His voice was deep and almost a grumble. Like a tired bear making an effort to scare a picnicker, "Mr.President, it sounds rather...Imperialistic, wouldn't you say?" he opened his hands and shrugged his shoulders.

The President, looking vaguely like a deer in someone's headlights, did a quick glance over to Maxen, and like the effortless tag team they were -Maxen's work was apparently not done quite yet- the focus was once again shifted to the Chancellor.

Leaping from his chair, Maxen all but dripped confidence as he slowly pulled a microphone off the Moorish delegacy’s table and with a similar head nod that had sent the President to the limelight, this one banished back into the shadows.

"My dear representative, you know such words as Imperialism are avoided like the plague these days, words similar, like wealth, religion -even nobility has a distinct undertone of caution- it seems that the old order of things has not survived the tumultuous years of the 20th century well at all. Yet, that is exactly what we are trying to bring back!

Rich is the only word you could use for tonight- we have made no excuses about society’s plight while we hang our chandeliers and adorn ourselves with such decadence to feed all of Africa for a week. We make no excuses that this is for all nations, or that this is designed to improve all nations- no, what this is... This is a return of the old guard. A return to a world where Imperialism, Religion, Nobility, Wealth were undoubtedly words of the same caliber as just, honest, competent and majestic.

Our only design here, on short, is to reclaim what is rightfully ours- our heritage and our place.

Have I answered your question to the fullest?"

The Indian rep was merely their for the holiday. He had travelled all over the world, largely through his fathers expenses, but had never seen Vienna. Venice, but not Vienna. The city was beautiful, though as he heard the messages, it seemed the company was not.

Ajit Patel was the second oldest of the Prime Minister's Indra Patel's five children. And, despite his love of all things luxury, he was highly politically aware and seen as a natural successor to his father. And, as did 1.4 billion at home, he knew of India's past under the hands of oppressors. And whilst he wouldn't be too bothered if the Confederacy expanded, he certainly did not want Europe coming back into Asia again.

He leaned back in his expensive leather chair, which had come with him from India as had his fan-bearer and trusted American bodyguard Lex, and said:

"I came to this conference because I thought that Europe was working towards a better future, where they unite in prosperity. And yet it seems I am in the company of leaders of backwards nations. It is not your turn to invade the ones who have already suffered under your inept leadership, it is their turn to rise against you! And if you come to them, the African or Asian nations you look at in scorn, the Confederacy will help them. So leaders, speak out! What do you plan to do, lay out a map and divide the world like in previous times!?"

Have I answered your question to the fullest?"

Lucrezia watched the spectacle that was Maxen von Bismarck taking the stage to answer a question with awe-struck fascination. This man was an incredible speaker. There was definitely something odd about that President, but this man... this man was foreign relations. Lucrezia found herself transfixed by the way he oozed confidence like he harnessed it from the abrasive fluorescent lights overhead. It was something close to sex... but refined; confident in an almost offensive manner. It was striking. She couldn't deny, even to herself, the slight disappointment when the puppet-man president reclaimed the stage.

Lucrezia wanted to speak with him alone, but could find no way to do so without attracting much attention. She watched the Chancellor behind the President; a sly smirk that said everything and absolutely nothing adorning his features.

She couldn't wait for Venice.

I came to this conference because I thought that Europe was working towards a better future, where they unite in prosperity. And yet it seems I am in the company of leaders of backwards nations. And if you come to them, the African or Asian nations you look at in scorn, the Confederacy will help them. So leaders, speak out! What do you plan to do, lay out a map and divide the world like in previous times!?

Maxen von Bismarck looked at the delegate with annoyance and rebuked, "This is not our better future, I agree, for this is our only future! Europe has taken itself out of the world; we have given back so many countries to inept leaders and corrupt dictators, and you question me as if another dividing of Africa is merely a possibility instead of what it is rightly so- a moral imperative!

We have watched for too long while poor African countries tear each other to pieces, while hiding behind cries of social justice and by default our might... It will stand no longer! What the Good Lord gives, he can take away- the independence, in my eyes, is a privilege the bastion of civilization has given away too freely and with little regard for lasting implications.

I direct this too just you, representative, when I say it is Europe’s moral duty to ensure the order of the world- not anyone else’s, and we shall use that mandate to the best of our abilities; if India considers it important enough to make an enemy of the forces of His Divine Grace... So be it! For we, and I, shall not sit idly by anymore as Africa and Asia continue to show the world that they are not deserving of such a privilege as political self determination."

"Who are you to say when a country deserve independence! I don't just object to the fact you wish to invade, its the fact that Europeans seem to think that they can take what they want. Maybe it is the turn of the former oppressed to take what they want, or to be allowed to exist! Would you accept a nation like ours invading in Europe! They are developing, and the ones who remain at war with themselves are not aided by the history that burdens them...invaded brutally, reaped of resources, and then dumped with debts."

"How about learn how to help, or is war all you can manage! You search the earth to pick on tiny countries, African nations that are so tired of civil war they welcome you, and you hide behind your power too scared to face the larger nations, instead creating your Empires. This league is truly pathetic. And you will not be welcomed in South Asia."

Lucrezia Dellatorre was suddenly very uncomfortable. The two men in front of her were dangerously close to declaring war on each other, and she had just sided with Austria. True, she probably have done that anyway, but she would have been a lot more careful about it had she known that war was going to be declared right then and there; on the first meeting, no less!

Besides, this wasn't her job. Her job was to arrange foreign affairs. She had nothing to do with the military. Feeling more uncomfortable with this entire situation by the moment, Lucrezia attempted to switch the topic back to her specialty.

"Sir Patel, please. Nobody is talking about invading anyone right now. Please, I beg of you to calm down. With all due respect, I think you're overreacting."

The latest squabble aroused the interests of the Spanish diplomat, Juan Pablo Mendoza. He stirred from his slight slumber, and adjusted his glasses back onto his eyes. The whole conference, bored him to no end, as he knew that his nation would never join such an alliance in the first place. However, now it was his turn to speak.

"The nations of Africa have long proved their ineptitude to the nations of the world, this is a fact. It is for these reasons that the Spanish military preserves a strong showing in her colonial holdings in Africa. However, the bold statement that we should wage open war against a foe who has not shown any hostility against us for the past 30 years is outlandish."

He turned to the delegate from India before continuing. "Even more outrageous is the claims made against the Asian continent. These nations have proven themselves to be the future of this world. Spain would rather side with many nations from Asia than with some of the scum in Europe. You, sir, have just thrust yourself into that category, along with the pigs of Germany."

Ajit was finally pleased to see the sensible Europeans, the ones who could see the foolishness of these ideas, had come to the forefront. Of all the contintents, it was most offensive to India that Europe should come after the land of them and other developing nations. Not that he saw them coming after them - these nations pevered smaller, weaker countries to gang up on, ones they could beat easily.

He nodded at the Spanish delegate, a voice of sense. Like his nation, India was not quick to jump into close relations, but a man who would voice his view and a nation that would stand out from the pact and support against what was shockingly the norm here was always a good friend to have for the future.

"Sirvart Berwick, whilst still seeing fit to judge on who should have independence, speaks sense. I did not come here to attack a European collective, and I am certainly not overeacting if you hear what has been said here - some strange attempt at the beginning of a new Holy Crusade. Have your pacts, but, I speak alone for all developing countries here.." He said, giving an angry gaze to the Kenavt delegate "That you cannot simple walk into our areas, such as South Asia where my influence stretches, and move in your soliders. Europe is not the world power anymore, Empires have been replaced by regional powers, and powerful ones at that who would rather it was up to them to decide who has what, not outside influences. The world is not in Europes grip anymore, at least not the most desirable parts of it, and will never be."

Sirvart Berwick then turned to the european delegates:
"I strongly suggest all Europeans nations at least sign a NAP. To better make sure we do not fight among ourselfs. When other arising empries may dream of expanding in our direction. We must fousced on emerging as a superpower once again. We have losted our honour and glory in our bid to rule the world. But we have also losted our pride and strenght in addmiting to our worngs. We must work together and show the world we are great nations that seek to better the world. Not destroy or rule it."

Then back to Ajit.
"I for one do not agree with the axeing of other independence nations into their empires. The Northern Kingdom of Scandinavia is a defensive nation and look simply to better it kingdom and unite it people."

Maxen could tell that the crowd was now distinctly against him, and he had a niggling suggestion in the back of his mind that he got a little too carried away with his rhetoric, a trouble many politicians had and one he apparently had as well.

"My fellow delegates, my fellow delegates- I apologize for my rhetoric, but not for my message- I have nothing against the country of India, really, I have nothing against Asia. No, what I am saying here is that Europe is going to roll back the clock- like I said, I will, even if single-handedly, restore back the age of European pride and unity...

Does not one of you agree that the time of European honor is ready to be reborn? Spain, does not one of your people remember the Reconquista? Does the blood of the Bourbons not burn in your veins still yet? Do you remember the days in which the sun never set on your nation, on your pride, when the sun never set on your manhood?

ka-Spel, do your people in Italy not wish for another Roman Empire? Do they see the old maps, the old remnants of their glory days still in the streets? They do! They do and they do wonder of their politicians, they wonder why they have exchanged their Italian lake in return for her wide collection of bums, vagabonds who get state money each month- is their empire really worth a welfare state?

Sweden, don't tell me you don't remember your fighting spirit! For almost a hundred years, Europe's most sai phrase was 'God protect us from the Swedes' as they terrorized all of Europe. That spirit is the same spirit I look for- don't you realize that is what seperates Europe from the rest of the world?

That is a question I pose to all of your nations- was the welfare state really worth your empires? Think- is your welfare state worth an empire?

Will any one of you rid me of this one turbulent ideal?

Will any one of you give up for an ideal? Will you finally rid yourselves of your guilt, and accept that fact that Europeans are made, built, and mandated to be the guardian of civilization.

India, your useless pestering will do nothing for you- if Europe shall unite under one banner, your opinions shall soon be notified of their worth, and it is not much, I assure you.

In short, nations of Europe, shall we united under the common knowledge that for too long we have given up the sunshine and that it shall be ours soon enough.

"I'm trying to be neutral here. I'm sorry, but I can see the side of everything." Kenavt stood up to make sure his voice was heard.

Ajit raised an eyebrow at the mans words. Considering he had already changed his mind twice about where he stood, and neither was a neutral stance, he did not really understand him.

India, your useless pestering will do nothing for you- if Europe shall unite under one banner, your opinions shall soon be notified of their worth, and it is not much, I assure you.

"You will see how useless our nation Mr. Maxen if you come to South Asia. But I know you will not come to me, India is not divided as before but strong now, you will go to some poor downtrodden group of African nations to invade, because that is all you could stretch too. Despite being a great orator you seem to have lost most of your fellow nations, and do not think your passage to invasion will be easy if you chose to take that path."

He leaned back. He failed to see how this conservation could continue, but remained anyway to see out the rest of the conference.

OOC: Sorry for coming in here late, I've been getting my SCUBA certification all weekend. And it just didn't seem normal for Russia not to be at a conference as important is this.

IC: The Delegates of the Russian Federation had been quiet up until this point. Tactfully noting the points each delegate had brought up, they had been contemplating their decisions for the past hour. The rhetoric of the other Europeans had infuriated the Russians, who had throughout the course of history been scoffed at by the rest of the nations of Europe.

"Civilization doesn't need your protection," said Colonel Yeremchuk, one of the Russian Delegates. "History has shown that the intrusions of the Western Europeans upon the lesser nations of the world. Your colonialism in Africa has brought strife and genocide, and your institutions that resided there caused more trouble than they solved. Maybe you could learn from your mistakes and from history, but it would seem that some of you, in your infinite ignorance, would like to repeat all of the mistakes of the past 200 years. Our statement stands: stay out of Africa if you know what is best for 'civilization'..."

The delegates sat down, their facial expressions unchanged from what they had been before their statement was made as they calmly awaited the response of the other Europeans.

Lucrezia sat in the sleek black chair, which now seemed incredibly uncomfortable. The Russian Federation had spoken, and an awkward silence had descended upon the room.

This was useless. She didn't have time to sit around an overcrowded and criminally stuffy room to watch the leaders of this world bicker pettily among themselves, thrashing around the same old rhetoric that they'd used for the last hundred years.

"Well, ambassadors; diplomats; it's been a wonderful evening. I enjoyed Vienna. It truly is more beautiful every time you see her."

She turned towards Maxen, "Chancellor, I shall see you in Venice."

OOC: Don't worry a bit, hope you use it.

Wow, are we all serious here? Except from some tokens of support from the Norsemen and Brazilians it seems that no one is even partially willing to step up to the plate on this RP and do something unconventional. (I applaud ka-Spel for just 'going with it') I was hoping to get together here at this meeting and get some true villains... Eh, it seems most of the people here are more than willing to give everyone else a good old generic Earth time- which while not exactly a bad thing, I was hoping to do something un expected and really make a epic collection of villains.

However, it seems people are going more for the generic experience, and well, I guess that means there is no more reason to keep Maxen von Bismarck even vaguely... Well, no, I think I'm going to introduce my 'best' villain concept to date. Nova Gaul would be proud!

IC:

At this point, even the composed and reserved Herr Bismarck was looking vaguely harried- a sign of impending doom for those who knew his almost famous outbursts of anger. President Ludendorff at this point, was all but frozen; his boyish grin all but branded on his face- his eyes a blank slate that conveyed only the lack of thought happening in his mind.

At this point, Anthony Drekcsler- Party Chairman of Austria's Unity Party, CEO of Stille Incorporated and civilian oversight 'advisor' to Colonel Mackenzie (Commander of all Special Directive Units) stepped up from where the Austrian-Moorish delegacy sat.

Now where President Ludendorff was an affable sort of fatherly figure; boyish and sociable, a perfect complement to Maxen von Bismarck- an obviously intelligent aristocrat, but one who seemed reserved to all but his closest friends. Anthony Drekcsler seemed like someone entirely apart from both of them- a harsh, almost cruel face rested with ease underneath a thick head of black hair, high cheekbones comfortably flanked two bombardier eyes which flickered wickedly underneath two solid eyebrows. He was complete in of himself, he needed, nor wanted, an equal- he felt like such a person did not exist regardless.

Glancing across the assorted delegates, a few nods toward the Europeans and Brazilians- a distinct lack of emotion for the Indian and African ones his first business was giving a goodbye to the Mediterranean delegacy.

"Auf weidersehen" chorused both the Chancellor and Party Chairman- Drekcsler continued, "may the next meeting be less cluttered by... Savages."

Drekcsler waved away Ludendorff, who for the first time of the meeting stepped away from the podium and sat down next to the seated Bismarck. Squaring himself up to the podium, his eyes flashing in the light, Drekcsler didn't suffer from orating from behind podiums as most politicians did- where they seemed to shrink and whither, he seemed to gain strength from pounding on the solid oak, giving him the foundations to rock the soul.

"Apparently you Russians have forgotten the sight of your former empire, you have lost sight of the lord, and as we speak every person who has made her great is rolling in their respective graves. Our vision is simple, it is direct, and it does not need you if you are once again un-willing to keep up with Europe proper, it will surprise no one if Russia is once again a traveler on the path towards the shadows and weakness so reminiscent of the 18th and 19th centuries.

However, if you are willing to once again help your fellow Catholics in their quest to achieve what is rightfully theirs, if you are willing to swallow your pride and pride a common front against the world, if you are willing to unite under the sign of the cross- then greatness is yours, I assure you. However, I cannot deny your country's vital position in European affairs, and if you are willing, there will be a place in Venice for you.

I have waited here, and am most disappointed, of course, by Spain. They were the first world spanning empire, they were the leaders of the Catholic world and their Bourbon monarchs are by far closest to my heart- even as much by the Hapsburgs, who also ruled the Iberian. Do you honestly not want a return to your former glory, are you honestly so oblivious to the world to think that you will single handedly take it on? There will be a place for the Spaniards at Venice, but please, do not visit with a no on your lips."

Turning to the other, colonial, delegates he had not much to say.

"Snigger and laugh, snigger and life while you can. For once Europe gets its house in order, nothing shall stop our resolve- the cross shall soon fly over your capitals, and your souls shall be properly cleansed on a burning pyre. God is the only one who shall have mercy- we will have none. You have enjoyed your time, you have seen how it is to be responsible for the world, and now it is time for your job to be reviewed, your account audited. Do I really need to tell you that it is found lacking? You savages shall never again know what it feels like to feel fresh air, God shall propel our armies to new heights- you too new lows.

The Mongolian observer had stayed silent in the back thus far; he felt that everything he'd wished to express had already been spoken by Spain, India, and Russia. He of course felt personally offended by the stated aims of the League. It was, after all, alliances and plans like this that had very nearly torn the Mongolian nation into 'spheres of influence', doomed to eternal existence as a European plaything.

But there was no need to say anything; the Austrians' plans had very obviously run into a brick wall, and even with the introduction of this lunatic fool speaking in front of him, nothing that the Mongolian observer felt like saying could have added to the discussion at hand. He could threaten the League in various ways, of course. But the last thing the Mongolian observer wished to engage in was warmongering and risking Mongolia's reputation. Better to sit idly by and watch the Europeans denigrate one another. Much more entertaining, after all.

OOC: Who said there wouldn't be villians in this earth? The Russians haven't even gotten started :D

Colonel Yeremchuk didn't wince at the insult made by the Austrian.

"The Russian Empire always serves as an example to us of the kind of greed and oppression of the Imperial system." He said. "Russia is finally in a position of excellence, technologically and economically and militarily, a place we haven't been in since the hieght of the Soviet Union. Russia doesn't see the need for people with views who have apposed ours forever to tell us how to be civilized.

"And what is this about the Russian Federation being Catholic? We have maintained our athiestic ideals from the Union, but those who do not are predominantly Eastern Orthodox. This further shows in my eyes the arrogance of the Europeans. The Catholic Church is just one more thing the Russian Government does not want meddling in its affairs. We are tired of outside influence skewing the thoughts and minds of our republics. Look at the Chechens. The fundamentalist pigs from the Middle East have lowered their beings to that of rebels, terrorists and mongrels. They have bitten the hand that feeds them two times already, and always has the mighty fist of the Russian Federation crushed their feeble attempts at revolt. Russia will not stand for any more cultural terrorism against it or any of its republics."

Sirvart once again stood up. There was angry in his voice.

"You dare call us savages? You dare called us fools? You wish to insult the might of the Northern Kingdom? And you wonder why the rest of the world stands here and laughs at us? Why should we go out and fight some backward African nation, or invade a bunch of trees in Central American. When it is plain that the enemy is much, much closer home. The Russian Federation has all but said to hell with us. The Indians laugh at us and says that we EUROPE.The RULERS of the world once long ago. Can not touch it nation of AIDS? The Mongolians also do not fear us. We made the world what is its today. We once rule the world. And we lost it due to infighting within ourselves. We have some of the strongest armys the world has ever knowed.
It is now plain to me. That we must unite as one against these hefted nations.

My nation is a peaceful one. But we will not stand by and let the rest of the world trampled our pride and our history. We will NOT be frighten by these banana republics. We The Northern Kingdom of Scandinavia. Here by declare our request to join The League of Venice. We encourage all Europeans nations to do so. As clearly things are heating up. Ambition nations are now pose to make their moves. And we must stand against them as one. But those they may not admit it. They fear us,they fear our mighty warships and our lust for blood.

Audere est facere - To dare is to do.

And I propose the leauge moto to be A cruce salus - From the cross comes salvation.

Oh, this was too much. The Mongolian observer found it stunning that the same men who claimed to represent culture and enlightenment now stood before him red-faced and braying like cattle. These men were undoubtedly poor representatives of their cultures. At least, the Mongolian observer hoped so.

He stood. "If I may be so bold as to request the right to speak for a moment? Mongolia, at least, has displayed no particular desire to meddle in European affairs. Should the members of this League attempt to meddle in Asian affairs which are, quite frankly, none of their business, we will respond as is appropriate. Do not be so boastful as to suggest that European domination of the world would be in any way beneficial to non-European nations; I don't think that any of us in this room are foolish enough to buy into that particular fiction. I believe that is all that needs to be said on my part. Good day; I shall take my leave."

And with that, he bowed slightly and turned to depart.

Karlovy sat there, choosing his next words carefully. He found a crack, albeit a small and nearly impassable one. Regardless, he found it. Maxen words came to amount up to an oxymoron in Karlovy's ears. Imperialism? The very word caused his stomach to crawl like eels.

"Of course, these words are synonimous...with other words. The rape of Africa? The exploitation of the people by hungry Imperial powers who's only concern was the doubling of their own wealth all the while, people were starved, beaten for disobedience, and enslaved!" Karlovy balled his hand into a fist. The words Maxen spoke were dangerous words. Of course, there would be no shortage of Europeans who'd like to curb the rising powers in Asia. The old guard is nothing more than dried up husks. They salivate over days of yore.

"You speak of a world of exploitation, invasion, and starvation. The return of the 'Old Guard' would do nothing more than agitate those who were once colonial posessions. Some things need to remain in the past" Karlovy found himself on the edge of his seat, almost rocketing out of his chair. Of course, he settled back into it and relaxed himself.

Muhammad Bishar was sitting quietly, near the shadows on the walls. He occasionally nodded and agreed with India, Russia, and the Mongolian Empire. Most of the time, however, he kept his mouth shut and watched the people complain. Now, after hearing the Northern Kingdom's response, his bearded face turned red with anger, as did many other faces; he finally stood up and joined into the conversation.

"Now, Svirtat Bevrik, that was very rude of you. You insult every other nation outside of Europe and you say Europeans are superior? Mr. Vebkrik, have you ever been to Southern Arabia, Dubai, particularly. We have many modern buildings, much more than your capital, I believe. Not only modern buildings, but more modern everything than you. Do not go babbling your mouth and saying that Europe is better than anywhere else. We all have our differences. Think before you act, or speak in this case.

I believe that what you said is something that a Nazi would, and that is very discriminating, Mr. Bekrivk. I shall be leaving now."

And with that Mr. Bishar turned towards the door. (OOC: but not out of the conference room. You can still stop him)

Lidia Barslov, crossed her legs and tapped a black pen against a small notepad she always carried with her. Adjusting her glasses and tilting them down, her eyes wandered to her boss, usually sedated and brooding about how his day sucks, seems electrified suddenly which draws her attention away from note-taking. The 29 year old assistant from Vedroga worked hard, scratching and earning her way to this current position throughout her still young career in politics. She aspired to be a Deputy or a Representative to the General Assembly. Lidia proved herself to be ambitious and a risk-taker which appealed to Karlovy who was desperate for a good assistant to share his burden.

"Bravo, Mr.Karlovy" Lidia leaned in from behind and whispered lowly, "The Austrians are deliusional with dreams of re-establishing their former glory."

"Thank you, dear" Karlovy nods, he doesn't look back but is sure she's wearing a small smirk.

"I know where you're going with this, sir" Lidia says, he knows full well that she has a smart head beneath those medium red locks of hers. She's not just a pretty face hired for her looks, there's actual substanance to this one.

"Do you?" This time, he looks back.

"You're looking to draw them into a political debate, rally support for the State amoungst the non-Eurpoean leaders and secure your usefullness which is already slipping with Hradec" Lidia hits the nail on the head, for the most part.

"This may come as a shock of yours" the weary delegate leans back, "But I actually do believe in what I'm saying"

Lidia gives him a confused look which morphs into a smile.

OOC: This does not point to the earth being generic. This just means Europe's plans may be harder than they thought. Surely that makes it more interesting, not worse? Also, making massive alliances at the beginning of the game from my past experience has actually made the earths either more boring or interesting.

"Do not use AIDs against our nation to show us as weak! If you researched you would see India's AIDs prevelance is less than many of your more "developed" countries as they are labelled, your America's and France and Italy. You just mumble on about banana states and turn into a red faced buffoon in your anger and you wonder why the world laughs at you! We do not laugh at your people, your grand cities - we laugh at your message and you, the inept politicans who know nothing of the world. Us Indians, the Mongols too, why should we fear you? Are we not larger than you, stronger than you, do we not have the power of nuclear weapons? And do not interpret that as a threat, India has no desire for your lands at all, we just want you away from ours."

Ajit paused and lowered his voice, "This meeting tires me. It is clear that a select few, and I mean a select few European nations cannot bear the fact their power has diminished and even when they desire their former power are too scared to go it alone. "First off, I am not the leader of my nation, I am merely a representative..." Bishar stops a moment while he silently laughs. "True, I shouldn't have said that, but please do not offend my pathetic nation." Once again, he waits for the laughs from the other nation's representatives. "Do not use steriotypes - not all Arabs are who you think we are. It is us who were prospering while the dark ages ate up half of your population."

Muhammad Bishar puts his hand in his pocket, and slides a picture across the table.

It was like an orchestra, a syncronized discord. The melodies of angry and shocked delegates from outside Europe chattering their disbelief at this seemingly ridiculous bid by desperate European powers to regain their former glory. Kulikovia never desired colonial posessions nor mass international influence. No, Kulikovia is not the kind of nation to lead the world while the other nations march to its' beat.

"This attempt at world power is ridiculous" Karlovy starts up again as Lidia sets her notepad aside, eager to hear more. "Why must Europe dominate the world? Snippet

Drekcsler watched impassively as Kulikovia's delegate delivered his rant, obviously directed at Maxen von Bismarck- who at this point had stood up from his seat to the right of President Ludendorf and was on the verge of a shouting match within the confines of the increasingly loud chamber.

Drekcsler paused momentarily and those who knew him, those few, knew that he was silently judging the situation and all its possible outcome- Anthony had never been good at math, history, science or any subject at school beside popularity. That was where his genius really shone though, for at the end of his senior he was in charge of the fiefdom formerly known as his high school; his ability to read people was unmatched.

Turning to Chancellor Bismarck he waved his hands down soothingly, Bismarck seemed to take his advice, and sat back down. He then fixed his attention to the delegate rude enough to insult one of the few people he considered indispensable. His cold voice rang out through the room, his mocking tone all too good at combining a myriad of emotions that all too often combined to be a most potent catalyst in the anger of his target.

"Your point being? Those times were the best of times; those times are the exact thing I'm aiming to achieve- the weak exist to serve the strong, those who can achieve glory shall take glory, no one is to ever be brought low by the low for being low and never again shall Europe find itself timid in face of those who were for so long their possessions."

His attention changed once again, achieving the almost impossible goal of including all the African and Asian delegates, without actually changing his posture or tone, while leaving the Europeans unscathed from he coming tirade.

"This meeting is at an end- run and hide, run and hide! The tide of European might is about to break, and it will unleash a wave of total war! This is not a declaration of war; it is not even a promise of war- no, what this is... This is my informing you the natural order of things, and you can no more prevent it than the most humble of peons. "

OOC Chatter:

Well, yes, this meeting is officially 'closed.' Germany, of course, it still invited to the next meeting... Sorry, no non-Catholic savages.
