Political History:

Upon its release from colonial oppressors in the 40’s, the country of India first struggled to find its feet. Its first elections in 1952 ended up in severe corruption and mass riots, and by the turn of the 60’s some seven leaders had taken power. However, in 1963 the Party for Freedom and Confederacy (PFC) was born, and led by the charismatic female Durga Singh won the national elections in 1972, finally providing stability for the blossoming country, which would from this point start to grow economically and in power, becoming Southern Asia’s principal authority. She engineered the 1975 Confederacy talks, one of her parties principal aims, that managed to get India joined with Bangladesh and Pakistan to form the (South-Asian) Indian Confederacy. However, two years later she was assassinated in New Delhi, leading to eleven months of civil unrest and the deaths of some 200,000 Indians during the struggle for power known as “the Black Year”.

Pushed backwards by civil unrest and the return of corruption, order was desired by India’s populous and the once frowned upon right-wing party The National Order for India (NOI) grew in popularity during a fearful 80’s. In the 1989 elections, the fifth that decade, their leader Varun Patel was elected as Prime Minister. He was seen as a stable choice, and India grew in power, military strength and economical strength also, becoming one of the world’s fastest growing economies and home to hundreds of new multi-national corporations. However, his nationalistic views were scorned by some, his prejudice towards non-Indians vocal and shown in the fact he did not desire to trade with other nations and made India produce for only their own. He also, over the coming years, phased out many political freedoms – opposition parties funds were capped, votes were noticeable rigged and his party had mass propaganda in every town, city and village in India, through the form of simple posters in rural areas to loudspeakers and forums where they would preach in cities. In 2001, aged 74, he was killed in a car crash and five months later his son Indra Patel become leader of his party and won them a fourth successive election.

For the past eleven years the landscape in India has changed once again. Indra did not have the iron fist of his father, and opened trade with other nations, and became friendlier to Western powers, and oversaw the largest growth in India’s economy ever as he began schemes to reduce poverty through capitalist means. However, Indra is still revered by Communists and left-wingers alike, and with his brutish attitude, infamous support of sometimes rogue or terrorist organizations and his need to keep a grip over South Asia he is seen as a difficult and uncompromising leader who could provoke uprising.

The Federation would like the send $3.5 billion dollars in Aid, to help your Government hope with housing shortages in India. We hope this would reduce your country's high poverty levels. We do not demand anything in return.

While it might seem that perhaps the Indian Confederacy is one of the few nations with which the Pyekan-Kuogu could maintain civil relations, the Empire of course proves less than enthusiastic.

Under the Pyekanma doctrine, which is directly at odds with the Empire's peaceful constitution, Pyeki views most of South East Asia as properly the territory of the Pyekan-Kuogu. India's power is greatly resented, as those in power tend to believe that while South East Asia was carved-up and deliberately kept weak in a policy of neo-colonialism since the end of the Second World War, the sub-continent only seems to have become more unified and powerful.

The most obvious manifestations of Pyekan hostility are in the alleged sheltering of Nagaland separatists, the reputed oppression of the descendants of Indian labourers brought to Yangon (then Rangoon) and other cities by the British, and the rumoured policy of submarine-based insertion of Pyekan agents into the Nicobar Islands, where isolated stone-age tribes are said to be the focus of efforts to lay the ground for annexation by the Pyekan-Kuogu.

Yangon also frequently accuses New Delhi of sponsoring ethnic minority separatists and Islamic extremists in conducting terrorist campaigns in Pyeki, and just last week has charged that some Muslim refugee camps in Bangladesh are in fact covers for terrorist training camps designed to launch actions against the Empire.

If you don't mind, Honako, I have as much as 30% of my population as Honako citizens. In reality, 40+% of the UAE's population is from Indian Nationals - not even including indians with a Canadian, British, US, or other passports. So, I would appreciate it if we had good relations from the 1980's onwards, because of your large presence within my country.

Most of them would be working in construction, or banking, so yes, in the 'Al-Burj Incident', many of the deceased and wounded would be of Indian Confederacy nationality.

If you're against this, I will change it.

I'm okay with that. I'll upgrade your relations to Friendly, though for now purely because of this.
I'll also make another post in the news thread you have - I'll claim around 180 of the dead are Indian.
