Official Statement of the Mephrasian Empire

The Mephrasian Empire would like to lodge a formal complaint with the Kiravian Immigration Office over its prejudiced immigration policies. While we understand the need for immigration quotas in this world, we are insulted that nations such as Damirez and Lord Sumguy, both of lesser size and stature than Mephras (OOC: No offense, just rhetoric) are given larger numbers in this quota system. We request both a formal apology, and an increase in our number to 80,000 to match with the other nations. While few of our citizens would have need to immigrate to your nation, as peace and opportunity abound in our lands, for appearances sake, we demand equal treatment. Only in your wildest dreams should you be so lucky to have 80,000 industrious and intelligent Mephrasians within your borders.

Assured this mistake shall be quickly amended,

We are saddened that this has caused offence to our esteemed Novan neighbours. Understand that Kirav, with the exception of a few million Echoese, Picts, and Tartarystanis, is effectively a wholly Coscivo-Kharic Kiravian society. We derive our rich culture from our many thousands of native ethnic groups, and do not believe in imported labour or an unbased need for 'diversity'. As such, we do not raise foreign immigration quotas readily.

However, for the sake of relations, we will increase the quota of Mephrasians allowed to enter the Kiravian Empire to 80,000. Keep in mind though, that those wishing to become Citizens, Metics, or Nationals will have to learn a Coscivian language.

Scandinvan Imperial Inquiry

We wish to determine, as it not exactly stipulated in the released quota details, as to how many Scandinvans are allowed to immigrate yearly to the Kirav Empire.

We apologise for not having included this. As a well-respected fellow Imperial power, our citizens would gladly accept Scandinavians amongst them. Thus, we shall set the quota fro Scandinavians entering the EMpire at 260,000.

While we here in Uiri understand that in such a grand nation such as yours the need to control immigration is needed. However, we here in Uiri also wish to discourage immigration of our poorer citizens. See those new Yalon SuperShoes™ you just bought for the equivalent of around 20 USD? It was probably made by an Uir worker working for about 1 USD an hour and it probably has a mark-up of anywhere between 18 and 19.95 USD.

See how lovely that is? The workers can buy almost every single product they need from the conogolomerat (conglomerate) they work for for affordable prices, pay rent and save up whatever is left for next year. Eventually after years of hard work - sometimes 2 or 3 generations - they have television or a radio or a gun.

This system works very well because everyone can afford to live and the owners of the factories, or retail stores or warehouses make up to 700,000 USD a year and live in luxury. Then they support politicians and give us money to run our campaigns. People are happy, business is happy and we politicians are happy. The exception to not really emigrating is expanding our businesses. Whether you, the Kiravians, will allow that or not, I do not know.

Coscivian is actually a group of languages in itself. It's still Indo-European, though, but more closely related to Germanic, Celtic, and Romance than to Slavic.

As we formally have no non-diplomatic Faxnavian citizens within the Empire at this time, we will set an initial quota of 30,000 persons, and have our sociologists observe how they fit into Kiravian society before taking further action. We welcome those 30,000 to our shores and hope that they may prosper.

We thank you although we were not aware that there is such a thing as a poverty line. Also, please understand that just because they are below the poverty line doesn't mean that they look it, or act like it. The exchange rate is usually equivalent to 1 arjet = 2 USD although in poor neighbourhoods 1 arjet could be worth 20 USD in foreign middle-class neighbourhoods or, in rich neighbourhoods, 1 arjet could be worth 0.5 USD in foreign middle-class neighbourhoods.
