Overview (An excerpt from HitchHiker's Guide To The World):

Established at the end of The First World War, the Dual State (Formerly Monarchy) of Austria-Moorington was the brain child of Lloyd George, the then British Delegate to the Treaty of Versailles. His idea was that the inherent difficulty of the Balkans, the powder keg of Europe that hardly looked defused after the wastage of millions of men, was that it was divided among so many lines and that the last thing he wanted to see was an even more divided Balkans. Thus, as the first glimmerings of revolution were spreading around the country, the Allied force that had so far been fighting on the 'Macedonian' Front was hurriedly sent north to quell the numerous revolts around the country.

Despite the best efforts of the allied force, the embattled Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy and government could not help but be toppled- the Austrian Monarch Francis II was shot and killed outside his home which the Hungarian regional government sees as the opportunity of a liferime to start their own government, only to have the allied force arrest all of them; they were then summarily executed for high treason.

With allied intervention in Russia, Germany, and now Austria-Hungary with no end in sight, they decided that one of the three had to go- "she shall sink or swim" famously cried August von Mackensen, and both of which she did quite admirably.

Losing several of her possessions, and to a large degree political legitamacy, the Austrians turned to the third smallest minority, the (European) Moors at an attempt to garner continued support for the tottering country. The power sharing deal was oft put on hold, due to several external periods of extreme political stress, most notably continued uprisings by ethnic minorities and the unification of Germany and Austria in the 40s. Yet was finalized on October 1st, 1945. With the Hungarians forced, oftentimes by the Moorish dominated military, from the country in a dark period Austria-Moorington history from the 1950s.

Politically speaking, a mutual benefinicial power sharing strategy between the Austrians and the Moors has lead to free and fair elections, a prospering economy and content populance; Austria seems every inch a gentle, sleepy, and old-school of the Habsburg sort. However it only extends to the two majorities and with Hungarians often discriminated against, along with lesser acts against Croatians and other Slav minorities, that nice facade of European gentiity has some rather large cracks. For instance the desperate attempts by the Moors to keep the country together following both World Wars, by forcibly evicting non-Austrians and Moors from rebelling provinces (minorities ranging from Humgarians im the East to, Swiss in the west and Grossdeutchlanders all over) is still a point of pride for politicians and textbooks while no compensation has been given for the subsequent occupation of the "abandoned" homes by Moorish-Austrians.
