OOC: This is my intro into the FT. My nation is roughly based on the reimagined Battlestar Galactica, but modified in several ways. Anyone's free to be the ship I run into here, but please keep the numbers down for now. I'm going to go as though my group has never had extraterrestrial contact before.

And, yes, I've RPed before, but my old nation died, and I decided to start from bottom.

The battlestar group left its jump, arriving in this new system, designated the Indebea System by Barician astronomers and astrologers. The Battlestar Oindira was at head of this fleet, made up of a standard battlestar group: a single battlestar, the Oindira at the lead, surrounded by one warstar, the Ainiar, two cruisestars, the Mineon and the Pywenna, and four supportstars, the Diannanan, the Jides, the Kywynne, and the Ournessa.

After jumping in, the scouting ships began scanning the new system and surveying the system.

"Sitrep," said Commander Nigel Young, the leader of BSG-34 and commanding officer of the Oindira.

"No immediate dradis contacts, commander", responded the deck officer, Captain Michelle Lewis, "survey of the system coming in now. One Jovian planet, two asteroid belts. No independent worlds, but there are six moons of significant size orbiting the gas giant. Should I order Raptor groups to investigate?"

"Yes, immediately. I also want viper patrols to investigate the system."

"Yes, sir."

This system, known as the Odega System to the Galactic Defense Initiative, was on the border to the Solar System, which was already colonized and growing at a fast pace. It would not be long until they needed to expand and get more living room for their people. So it was that they had sent a small force here two weeks ago, putting up SkySentry probes to rotate throughout the system, taking data on the planets, moons, and asteroid belts. It would be a good system for their navy as well as mining operations.

It was also to protect against any incursions, as it was GDI claimed space for now, until they could organize the colonization effort for it. And with the Shivans on their mind, they didn't have the resources to spare at the moment. However, they still kept a ship there, a frigate, the Crystal Joy. When the eight shipt fleet of the Baricians came in, alarms began to ring out as SkySentry registered them. The Captain rang to her desk as the bridge exploded into activity.

"What's going on?"

"Some ships have entered into the system. Eight of them, and they look like Colonials!"

The Captain was confused; why would the Colonies be here? "Are you sure?"

"Not really; their signatures aren't the ones we encountered. Orders?"

"Open a channel, find out whats going on."

"Unknown fleet, you are in GDI space. State your intention and your country of origin. Do not commence hostilities or we will be forced to retaliate."

OOC: To clarify - my technology is very similar to Battlestar Galactica, and the language I'll use, but culture, religion, rivalries, etc. are going to be quite different, somewhat more advanced, etc. So don't mention Cylons and expect a response :)

"Sir, receiving a transmission...and they're speaking Afritani."

"What? Confirm that."

"Confirmed. Afritani. Putting it through now..."

"Unknown fleet, you are in GDI space. State your intention and your country of origin. Do not commence hostilities or we will be forced to retaliate."

"Lieutenant, send a response message, full identification. Set condition one throughout the fleet, and launch the alert vipers."
"Sir!"

Unknown vessel, this is the Battlestar Oindira of Battlestar Group 34, representing the Dominion of Afritana and the Barician Imperium. This is a survey mission of systems nearby to the Imperium, seeking places for colonization and raw material mining. Please identify yourselves and the "GDI" you represent.
