Cali'i Seizes Power in Darshi

Faurea
25-04-2008, 01:00
OOC: For those of you following the situation thus far, here is what's happened:
Faurea was temporarily destablized by Aranethon Wazzi, in order to form a new government. Paramilitary has become law and order, but the middle class is strengthening. Originally, the islands of Aria and Darshi broke away from Faurea and formed their own republics, yet both were formed by what are classified as terrorist groups. There were talks of peace and Aria and Faurea managed to broker a deal to reunite, however, Darshi did not. Darshi is a Communist state, ruled by a man named Erv Kavik. Kavik walked out of the talks because he believed that in truth, reuniting under "Capitalist" Ideals was unsuitable. However, he has been dealing with a Raianistic extremist group called The Order of Cali'i, a sect formed from Raianism, the islands indigenous relgion based off of polytheistic worship of the Sun, Moon, and Stars. The Order has been trying to establish itself as an independent state, tried to broker a deal of seperation from Darshi, but were suppressed by the new People's Army under the Communist regime of Kavik.

Darshi City, Darshi island,
Militants who claim to be members of the Order of Cali'i launched a raid on Darshi's capital city, reports say. The Order, established as a non-materialistic, conservative, fundamentalist branch of Raianism and founded by a man who called himself the next "Spiritual Leader", Cali'i, stormed into the city on humvees equipped with machine guns and armed with swords and many types of weapons and killed 26 people in their raid in the uptown district. Recently, reports have also stated that a house of one of the Communist party leaders was bombed early this morning. The Order has occupied the city since 12:00 last night. Many are said to have been fleeing to Faurea and Aria. "This is a terrible situation," said Faurean leader Aranethon Wazzi, " it is an absolute detriment to our region. Its unfortunate that this sect found weapons or that someone could've sent these whackos weapons like these." It is still unreported how the sect acquired the weapons or where they came from.

Darshi City,
Reports of more deaths have been reported by Cali'i clan members in Darshi City. The Order of Cali'i, a Raianist sect, stormed the city late in the night on April 24 and killed 26 people, among those were a prominent Communist Party leader who helped organize the split from the former Faurean Confederation. Now reprots say a car bombing killed 2 more leaders and 4 other civilians and injujured 3 others in the downtown district. Since this has happened, many Darshis have fleed to Faurea and Aria for safety. Other interesting facts that have recently been uncovered are the release of information about how the Order found the weapons. An unidentified source apparently approved the shipment of several hundred weapons and even more ammunition. The shipments made it onto the small isle where the Order lives.

Seville, Faurea:
Aranethon Wazzi had just read all three letters addressed to him. He had been working on how the Order had managed to grabhold of firearms. "This is going to be very difficult,he thought, "but, with these new allies, I can solve the problem. He called for one of his ministers and asked him to deliver a message.

From the Provisional Faurean Government to the Leaders of Canaery, West Ponente, and Yallak:
We thank you all for your concerns and willingness to help. Even though it may be easier now to unite Faurea finally, I despise the fact that it comes at the expense of many lives. I wish to ask that you send boats, armed vehicles, and a few soldiers to storm the islands. I also ask your help on a sort of espionage mission, one that I think will weaken the Order.

IC:
That's great to hear. What I'm thinking of is that we surround the island and burn down their boats so they can't leave and block the ports. It would be best if we could get the remaining citizens off the island somehow. This way, we can storm in and surround them.
The spy mission is this:
The Order is based primarily in a commune on the smallest outlying island incorporated into Darshi. The Order made a mistake sending ALL of their troops to the main Darshi island. This has left their leader or Cali'i, known as Cali'i II, wide open. While our armies keep them at bay on the other island, we will send some special forces into the main city of the Cali'i and capture the leader and extract him from the island. This way, we can negotiate their leader's return in exchage for a cease-fire. Its like cutting the head off a snake, the rest of the body cannot function. Hopefully you approve.

The spy mission is more of a covert operation but we have the perfect assets for either one. Here is some info: Darshi is a small archipelago of three islands, the largest one containing Darshi City, which is also a port. It is similar to the coastline of the state of california. If you go near the middle of the town, which is where the government swuare is, there will be a large militant group there, as there is in the downtown and upper east side. We will have patrol boats and our new armed forces storming the island once we land. We appreciate the air aid.

Task Force Saris
Darshi Island, Faurean Confederation
07:11 Hours, 29/4/08

The Imperial task force was now close to their target. They held position in the waters around the Darshi island, slowly spreading around to blockade the land mass but keeping sure to remain just beyond visual range so that they’re foe would not notice their arrival…. Or imminent destruction.

In total, 4 battlegroups had been dispatched to take part in the operation so there were almost two hundred warships of various sizes ready to prevent any of the enemy from escaping. In fact, they could obliterate the entire Darshi island if the order was so given.

With the fleet was also an array of assault vessels ferry troops and equipment and even now they were abuzz with activity as the Imperial Army prepared. Helicopters were raised to the top decks and readied for flight while below desk weapons were cleaned and ammunition and gear readied.

Beyond the blockade a single helicopter ferry a team of Imperial Operatives towards Cali’i, where they would apprehend him in his Orders base and retrieve any information of value for the Faurean Government.

Task Force Flagship: IYS Decadence

Fleet Commander Minaith stood watching the movement of his forces on his ship tactical display. If would still take some time before they were ready, which was fine because the operation would not commence until nightfall and he still needed to give the final briefing to his officers.

Better begin, he though, activating his personnel communicator. He would address all of the naval and army officers in one conference call and they could then filter the orders on to their respective commands.

Admiral Sordeau was on the bridge of the flagship of both the operation and the Adriatican Fleet, the Louis X. He walked out from the cabin to the deck where below on the flight deck of the massive carrier he saw a hundreds of people, the flight crews, preparing the fighters and bombers for the beginning of the attack. A light, warm breeze blew across the deck of the bridge.

In the distance, to the west precisely, he saw the Louis’ sister ship, the Le Feroce, where one of his most trusted Captains, Captain Guillaume Lacroix. He probably would be speaking to his men right now, thought the Admiral. He would be doing the same very soon. Directly ahead of him, a mile or two past the bow of the ship he could see the Yallakian Blockade. They had come in much greater numbers than the Ponenteans, whose task force consisted of only 8 Carriers, 12 Battleships, and roughly 30 destroyers. It didn’t really matter though, for they were ready to launch a swarm of bombers at the rebels.

But, first there was other business to attend to before the sun set on the southern Adriatican Sea, and the attack on rebel-occupied Darshi began. The Admiral told his aid to make a call to the Yallakian High Command, soon the phone rang and he spoke into it with his best English. “Hello, Commander Minaith? This is Admiral Sordeau, Head of the Ponentean Task Forces, I would like to know when you think your forces will be in place so that I can give the okay to our planes and we can begin this little soirée.”

If you'd like, the Avalican Naval Force will blockade the island of Darshi. They will make sure no communist forces get out of the island. The naval force will stop Cali'i's extremist terrorist organization from spreading their rubbish ideas. We will surround the island with 25 battlecruisers, 20 destroyers, 5 dreadnoughts, and 6 nuclear powered submarines to surround the island and make sure no planes or boats get out of the island. These ships and submarines will be heavily armed with missiles, and naval artillery. We will crush whatever force the communists try to send. "Listen Comrades, as this is vital information. Reports say that about 200 civilians are left on the island, and the Avalic forces are willing to help in the evacuation, so that will be good. We will first start by eliminating the boats surrounding the island and burn down the docks as well. Then we will invade full scale into the city and our generals will give the orders from there where to split. As for the extraction of Cali'i (and yes this network is safe, so no worries about any Order spies), our intelligence agents will rendez-vous with the others at the exact time the patrol boats destroy Order ships on the northside of the commune. With flame and thunderous report the guns spat out shells at the beaches where the Army would soon be landing as well as the docks and any non-friendly vessels near the island. The Faureans have started the battle, launch all planes!" he replied hastily in French

Soon the flight deck of the Louis X was abuzz and the fighters were headed towards Darshi and it's satellite islands. The Ponenteans were to split into three groups, The first where to head to the Cali'i island and bomb it into the stone age, the second would head up and down Darshi's coast and destroy any enemy fortification and defenses, while the last group would strike directly at Darshi City and flush the rebels out, leaving the islands an eay target for the invading allied forces.

Admiral Sordeau watched the squadrons leave the carriers like a disturbed nest of hornets towards the sound of capital ships' salvos in the distance
"Soon they will feel our sting.." he said

Cali'i Commune Island
The patrol boat carrying six Faurean intelligence operatives was closing in on the island of the Cali'i. Just then, one of them looked up and heard the buzzing of planes. "What?" said the operative. "What is it?" asked another. "Don't you hear the planes? I thought we were supposed to extract the Cali'i using a small task force." "Apparently not so" said a third operative. "Call base," replied the first, and tell them we need more troops to help extract the Cali'i when the planes finish. In the meantime, lets find a small isle to stop at until orders come."

OOC: Again, excuse the crud post…. I’m at work so it’s difficult to do it as well as I would normally like

Even as the Blackhawk headed down on its final approach to the Cali’i Island, the pilots knew something was amiss as they observed jet fighters closing on the same location. They were on a covert operation and they knew well that jet fighters were not among the assets deployed when one wanted something done discreetly and thoroughly.

The co-pilot immediate got on the radio and began broadcasting while the pilot began diverting their course.

‘Attention, Attention, this is Yallakian Air Force Helicopter calling aircraft on heading November Whiskey Zero Two Three. You have entered a restricted area, divert course immediately!’

Yallakians were a patient people but if ever someone was foolish enough to cross them it would be a mistake they would not forget quickly. This was far more true when dealing with the Imperial Government or military as their vengeance was much more severe.

The Imperial pilot sent back an abrupt reply to the Squadron Leader.

‘Do and I will see that every one of you is shot down. Now break off.’

Just then, a message came in from one of the Faurean ministers to both radios. "Hey cool it, both of you!" said the minister. "Your job is to land some coverts on the island, get inside the Cali'i's temple and extract him from the top level. Both forces dispatch immediately and return to the main Darshi island to bomb the hell out of those Holy Soldiers. We will besending you coordinates of their hideouts shortly.
Darshi City
The soldiers stormed the island with the guns blazing. Despite the low numbers, the Cali'i's Holy Soldiers fought hard and inflicted moderate damage onto all the soldiers on the Faurean side. However, by the end of the day, lines were drawn and attack fronts were formed. And the allied soldiers from all the nations had managed to push back the Order.:sniper: :mp5::mp5::mp5:

Ponenteans, unlike Yallakians, are not a patient people. In fact they were had notoriously fiery tempers and were amoung the most stubborn people on the planet.

So after numerous expletives in French, the group bypassed the Cali'i Island and headed to the southeast nearing the coast of Darshi. On the coast there were crude fortifications built to protect against invaders, so naturally one of the squadrons cut off to relieve their anger on the rebels with the rest of the flight groups beginning to spread out over the island.

Darshi City

Reports were coming in that the Cali'i had been driven back despite inflicting heavy losses on allied troops. It was only a matter of time...

One of the Holy Soldiers keeping watch in the Cali'i occupied part of the city. The building had formerly been a Confederate Government Building. He could hear fighting from other parts of the city and looked out to see that the sun had finally set on Darshi. Then he heard a low rumbling, like that of a train coming from off in the distance. Closer and closer it came, until it was in his view. It was a black cloud filled with what looked like hundreds of hornets. Soon they were near, and he went to sound the alarm. Suddenly he could hear the sounds of breaking stone and gun fire. It was the last thing he ever heard.

Darshi Island, Faurea
The Royal Navy had finally arrived from Canaery and launched an attack on some other patrol boats of the Order. Once they touched land, soldiers began running out of the boats into the city, where gunshots and explosions could be heard everywhere. The sounds were disorienting but the troops kept up. "Come on men!" yelled the general, "Look alive and let's go. Keep your eyes open and if you see any Holy Soldiers, let them have it, as it were."

Patrol boats were exploding suddenly due to several anti ship guided missiles that most people never noticed. The helicopters flew into the island's airspace to locate those who wanted to escape from the extremist island. They heard large explosions but they believed the communists were to poor for those bombs that were probably part of an air raid.

Allied Base, Downtown Darshi City
Morning was breaking and it was about three o'clock. Aranethon Wazzi had to head back home because of matters of a new nation seeking asylum and other troubles forming a new government. Meanwhile, the head minister of intelligence sat wide awake, as were some guards around the base. Mortar launchers had been set up around the base and no one stepped outside without a bulletproof vest. The IM was going to call a meeting in one room while the Allied generals would discuss plans of attack now that the boundaries were basically set.
OOC: I want to see if we can RP a meeting to decide how to extract the Cali'i and how to stave off Holy Soldiers.

When Admiral Sordeau heard what had occured near the Cali'i Island he was furious. He opened a line to the other leaders of the operation and the Faurean Ministers

"We need some conformity in this action, we have about four different allied armed forces operating around Darshi and not a single one of them has a clue of what's happening!" he said in a frustrated voice, "Therefore I propose we meet somewhere to discuss our respective strategie and make a unified one so this operation runs smoother."

Commander-In-Chief Aranethon Wazzi was on a boat on his way to the West Ponente ship Decadence. The only reason he was coming was because he felt responsible for the war and he wanted to tell them how he thought they should attack. After all, when he was part of the national guard before it disbanded under the previous government, he had dealt with the Cali'i extremists before. He felt he knew how to handle them. Now he could clearly see the Decadence in plain sight and he saw the other nations' ships as well.
