This is a new wire providing news about all aspects of Anselmus from the Empire's top news media sources. A couple of archived stories, both from the Spoletium Post-Intelligencer:
PRIME MINISTER RESIGNS
SPOLETIUM, 17 March 2008 (The P.I.)--After a long period of declining popularity caused by a significant slip in the national economy and domestic squabbles over the role of the new Atlantican Union, Prime Minister Ryan Schrader's center-left government has lost a vote of no-confidence in the upper house of the Anselmian Senate. In accordance with Anselmian law, this has triggered the resignation of Schrader and his cabinet. However, as the law allows for only constructive votes of no-confidence, the opposition had already nominated their own candidate for the position of Prime Minister, hard-liner Jacques Delacroix. The same vote that forced Schrader to resign effectively installs Delacroix as the new Anselmian Prime Minister. The new head of government now has one month to select the members of his cabinet before facing a formal investiture vote in both houses of the Senate.
Delacroix's right-wing opinions in the past have been decidedly anti-Communist and calling for a much less socialist approach to governing. This will probably mean extensive cuts in welfare in an attempt to save the Empire's faltering economy. While this change in government may serve to help the Anselmian people domestically, it could very well damage the stability of the Atlantican region as a whole. We have heard that Delacroix will soon begin to push for a more military role of the AU and a far more anti-NOP stance. The new Prime Minister will also push for increased cooperation with nations who share his sentiments, most notably Nova Pictavia and the Kingdom of the Benelux.

ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT PUTS EMPEROR IN COMA
SPOTLETIUM, 12 April 2008 (The P.I.)- At approximately 1:30 this morning, six gunmen, believed to be members of the radical Marianian Indigenous Liberation Front, stormed the Club Palatino, where Emperor Johann IV von Hohmann was enjoying the evening with his girlfriend, Magdalena Briganti. A large firefight broke out between the gunmen and the Imperial Army soldiers of the Emperor's bodyguard. In the ensuing battle, the Army reports that three soldiers were killed, with a fourth critically wounded. All six gunmen were killed. An anonymous source reports that the Emperor himself was shot once in the leg, in addition to being stabbed once in the chest by Briganti herself. Her role in the assassination plot is at this time unknown, but it is known that she was taken into custody by the Imperial Guard, and her current wherabouts are unknown.
Lieutenant General Sir James Oxford, spokesperson for the Imperial Armed Forces, revealed at a press conference early this morning that relaliatory strikes will be conducted against known MILF positions inside Imperial territory. Oxford also said that MILF "terrorists" are suspected to be in hiding inside the neighboring House of Boothby and Gesford, and that negotiations are underway with the Boothby and Gesford governments concerning how this is to be dealt with.
