I am interested in RPing this nation as a small island nation which has just found a vast amount of oil or natural gas in its waters. Being a nation of only 10,000 people, this will make everyone extremely wealthy, however we will need expatriates to operate the extraction process, and basically run the economy of the country in some way. I'm more interested in the people who become rich, and their day to day lives.

So basically, I just need someone to take on this role, although with a few restrictions. A cut will be agreed to for our nation, a percentage of profit per barrel or somewhat. You can control foreign policy or whatever, although you can't drag us into war, establish military bases (security presence is okay). I can RP an intro, although it isn't necessary, I mainly want the frame of reference. It doesn't have to be a huge commitment, it's basically as much as you want to put into it. I'd prefer a somewhat established nation/company.

As to the size of the oil field, I'm estimating somewhat production of 1.9 million barrels a day, which could be maintained for a long time. I don't know much about oil fields and such, so if you could help me figure that out, that'd be good. I want enough money to make all the people very wealthy.

I'm not really worried about that, although that's why I did this thread. They can have most or almost all the oil, I just want a cut. Kind of like Brunei and Shell Oil.

I'd be interested, as I've always wanted a puppet state (no offense intended). Not particularly knowledgeable about oil, but I'm a quick study, and could probably come up with some good figures in a day or so.

Anyway, the company that would be involved is Pale Rider Arms, which runs much of Otagia. IIRC, there's a pretty good summary of it in my factbook (see sig).

I ran some figures for you, not only to help you with this endeavor, but as a shameless plug that you pick our companies(Venner Incorporated and The Kane Corporation) for this project.

For reference, 1.9 million barrels/day is about on par with what the current second highest-yielding oil field in the world, Cantarell, produces (Cantarell produced 2.2 million/day at the height of its yield). Ghawar (OPEC-owned oil field) produces something around the order of 4.5 million/day. Your oil field probably contains about 30 billion barrels of oil total, unless it is atypical, which, granted the sheer size of the find, would not surprise me.

With the current price of oil skyrocketing (as of 2008, almost $115 per barrel), we (Venner Incorporated and The Kane Corporation) can promise you Annual Gross Revenues of almost $80 billion(approx. $220million/day). If historical data regarding Net Revenue as a percentage of Gross Revenue for oil companies remains true (that is, net revenue usually amounts to 8.5% of gross revenue), then we can project a little under $7 billion of net revenue for this project, before all capital expenditures.

Now, what kind of profits-sharing scheme did you have in mind?

Even if you took only 30% of net profits, each citizen would get slightly under a $210,000 stipend per year, just for letting us run your oil field! Of course, we are willing to negotiate any profit-sharing deal.
