A visit to Akimonad

The president was napping in his room aboard the presidential airliner, a modified Da-52, when the intercom clicked on.

"Monsieur, we are only an hour away from landing, you should start getting ready."

King Norheim rose from his bed and begrudgingly tapped the intercom button, before barking a confirmation at his assistant. He had been up the entire night watching the Yanitarian National Rugby League's National Cup games. In the final match, the Yanitaria City Capitals were massacred by an upstart team from Narum.

He entered the bathroom and prepared himself to meet to Dr. Hodz of Akimonad.

Dr. Jules Hodz was sitting in his office, looking at the enormous stack of paperwork on his desk. He guessed that only about 1/4 of it was actually important. The rest was bureaucratic fluff, which Hodz had really thought he'd done away with.

Hodz's Chief of Staff entered with a soft knock.

"Doctor, the King of Yanitaria is about an hour out." he said.

"Good," Hodz said, getting up and pushing in his overstuffed leather chair and switching off his lamp. "Get me a bigger shredder while I'm gone."

He walked out of the room. His Chief of Staff stifled a chuckle.

Once departing his office Hodz took the lift to the roof and boarded a waiting helicopter. The helicopter flew off towards the airport and touched down a few minutes later.

Dr. Hodz stepped out and entered the airport's control tower, ascending to the top level.

"How far away are they?" he demanded, stepping out of the lift. As expected, the Director for External Affairs was waiting. "About a half-hour." he said.

Dr. Hodz looked around the room. Numerous air traffic controllers sat around the room, generally oblivious to his presence.

"Thing is," the Director said, "I wonder if this airport can handle an airport that large."

"Heaven's sake, Mark," Hodz said, "It can support an Epicbomber if need be. I'm sure it can support something like an An-225. Truly."

As the An-225 made it's descent, all passengers were seated and required to buckle in. King Norheim was placed near the exit, along with four bodyguards, one of whom carried a small parcel.

Radio requests to land were made, and everyone awaited the jolt associated with such a heavy aircraft landing.

OOC: Will they be taxing up to a gate, or will there be a mobile staircase?

[OOC: A secure gate with a jetway.]

"Cleared to land on runway two-niner. Taxi to Gate three dash sierra." came the reply from the tower.

Dr. Hodz watched the plane intently. It was fairly large, though the Empire had B22s that were larger.

He motioned to the Director for External Affairs. "Come on, then, let's get down to meet them."

They both walked out of the control room and into the lift. After a short downwards journey they stepped out and got into a car which shuttled them to the terminal.

King Norheim, having just had to make a phone call to Commissar Stuyonovich of Stoklomolvi, had taken a bit longer than he had hoped. Still his plane landed, he was now read to exit the airplane and meet Dr. Hodz for the first time. With his four body guards and two assistants walking ahead and behind him, the Yanitarian monarch stepped through the thresh hold of the plane, and onto the jetway.

One of the body guards carried a wrapped present, but aside from that, only the assistants carried anything, a pair of plain black brief cases.

"Welcome to Akimonad." Dr. Hodz said to Norheim as he walked down the jetway. "I trust you will enjoy your stay."

The guards around the terminal immediately took a more alert stance upon the appearance of the king, scanning for any signs of danger.

"I'm Mark Osbourne, Director for External Affairs," the Director said, bowing somewhat and crossing his hands behind his back.

"It is very nice to meet you, Monsieur Osbourne. I am glad to be here." The king turned towards Dr. Hodz, as a body guard handed him the package. "Dr. Hodz, thank you for inviting me to your nation. I have brought you a present, which I hope you will most enjoy. It is a good bottle of L'Akadie, one of the finest wines in my country."
