Maximilian Egbert, chairman of the Pan-German Dictatorship of Der Volkenland, looked up from his cup of steaming Viennese coffee towards the Der Volkenland Beobachter, recently brought to him by a nervous aide. Its headline proclaimed, in great big letters:

REBELLIONS STRIKE DER VOLKENLAND!

Pro-democratic rebels, under 'President elect' Axel Brougeheimer, have recently captured the border station of Salles Point, armed with weapons stolen from the weapons storehouses in the South. Recently, the last patriotic garrison in the southern city of Hausland was overtaken by the rebels. To recap the political situation fromlast week's paper, rebellions and riots following the jailing of Saji Saravega erupted in colleges and universities throughout the country. So far, only 2 of Der Volkenland's 23 universities have remained loyal to the chairman and the ideas of the 200year-old Pan-German Union. The entire Southern region of Der Volkenland has fallen, and many campuses throughout the North have had armed rebellions, including one in the University of Der Volkenland, in Bismarcksburg, only 2 kilometers from the Congress and 3 from the ancient Dausian palace where our great empire has its home. Commander in Chief of the Armies, Laus Prutzmann, has promised a swift victory, seeing that patriot forces outnumber the rebels two to one.

Egbert looked up from the newspaper and sighed heavily. The enemy were outnumbered 2 to 1, but with the world full of large, rich, and powerful democratic nations who were just waiting for a chance to topple a dictatorship, because those kind of nations could not stand even one bit of competition. And those were the same people whom the rebels were asking for help from.

OOC: This is my first time making such a thread on this forum, and I am inexperienced in the finer points of NS Forum etiquette. Also, if enough nations join the rebels' side, enough for the rebels to win, then I will probably begin the long transformation of my nation into a democracy from a 'father knows best' state, just so y'all know. And anyone can post and give aid if they want, be it to the rebels or the dictatorship.

Plea to all democratic nations and republics throughout the world:
Help topple the evil authoritarian regime in the Dictatorship of Der Volkenland and support the Republic of Der Volkenland gain power. We only wanted freedom and basic human rights in our great empire, but with the unjustified arrest of our former leader, we have deemed it neccesary to take matters into our own hands. So far, we have defeated the dictatorship in a few small battles, but the 'Chairman' (a dictator in every sense of the word) has rapidly mobilized the remaining troops to go on the offensive. Without immediate aid from other democratic nation, evil may triumph, and our bodies would be hanged from lampposts outside the dictator's palace. Please, help us!

The Republic of Der Volkenland pleads for help against the evil dictatorhip! We have gained some land, weapons and resources, but without international interference we will probably lose and have our mutilated bodies hanged by their heels on lamposts in front of Egbert's palace. Please, help! Even as we speak, we are losing reception. *Explosions are heard* We are under fire! I repeat, we are und- a long beep, and the radio goes silent.

Maximilian Egbert sat in his fancy velvet chair, pondering. First they released a text message to the world, which was bad enough, but now this? How many other nations had heard this message, and how many more would, soon? It had to be stopped, but how he did not know.

The civil war in Der Volkenland stretched into its second day. The rebels had lost their first battle at Heinrich Hommel University, with the result being that the entire campus and much of the surrounding town was pockmarked with craters and napalm splatters. Many of the reserve armies had been pressed into service, and the rebels were facing a shortage of supplies. The entire air force had carpet bombed the rebels in three locations, and fires burned in the few farms that the enemy had captured. Already, though, a nearby democracy had sent 3,000 troops as 'military advisors' to help the rebels win, and they were armed with Maschinnenpistol 78's, not to mention Löwe VII panzers and to top it all a massive shipment of Panzershreck LXXVII Models. All of this went through the educated mind of Maximilian Egbert as he pondered the crisis striking his nation. He knew as well as anyone that even though local nations had decided to help the rebels, no major nations had responded to the plea for help. Maybe his technicians had prevented it from ever getting out of the nation, but if they had, they would have told him... Who knew?

Thank you! We are forever grateful. At the current moment, we need mostly supplies, artillery, and tanks at the current moment. From our raids on DDV arms warehouses, we have only got rifles and machine guns, and very little anti-panzer launchers. We have only a few tanks and artillery, because all of those were at important military bases. Egbert the Vile has ordered carpet bombing on all of our installments and camps. We most surely do not want to sound too greedy, but infantry would be very helpful; the enemy now outnumber us 3 to 1. We can receive the supplies and (hopefully) soldiers at our headquarters in Sauven-upon-Rhoane. But please hurry! Explosions are heard. Damn! The enemy are attacking! Please, hurry! The line goes silent.

The rebels, during their raid on the Bank of Der Volkenland and the national treasury, have taken most of our money and are using it to further their own cause. Maximilian Egbert read the Imperial Telegram and thought. Perhaps this war could be solved peacefully; it would at least provide enough time to bury the bodies and mobilize new troops. Realizing all of this, he accepted the offer.

Alex Brougeheimer, reading the offer, knew that it would probably be the only chance for the democrats to win the war. They were severely outnumbered and lacking troops and resources. He, too, accepted the offer.

This is a very good offer! If the peace talks with the rebel leader fail, then we will accept it immediately. Even if they suceed (probably not), then we thank you sincerely.

OOC: Which side is more likely to offer better investment conditions for foreigners?

OOC: Whichever side wins. The DDV is an Authoritarian Capitalist State, while the Rebels are Democratic Capitalists.

OOC: Then we'll be supporting the rebels. Chances are, any peace conference will be rapidly torpedoed...we might even invade on their behalf if the rebels are close to defeat.

OOC: Alright. DDV already has an ally, the rebels need one too ;)
