<”So, what is the situation right now? I hear war has broken out, again.”>

Kalthir swiveled his chair around, with a bored expression on his face. This had been the situation that came as of recently. They had all heard the declaration of the provision for intervention sent out by the United Terran Federation. The Kelauans, whom already despised them for being a democratic society, being weak in their eyes, for intruding into other peoples affairs and being rather unstable, and just being plain pathetic in their eyes, were driven to great anger at this declaration.. They had sent a message about it, saying if they tried to intervene in their affairs, they'd wipe the Federation from existence. However, it also caused a new problem for the Kelauans. The younger nations around them, small nations whom struggled to grow and deal with their internal problems, had always been complaining about how the Kelauan claimed systems without even negotiating with them. It wasn't as if they had even put anything there, maybe a buoy or to, a probe maybe, but they only claimed it in name. The Kelauan response was typical; if they didn't have the strength and resources to take it, then they would lose it to those who could.

Naturally, this was resented. But, seeing the power of the Kelauan, their allies, and the fact they were in a powerful alliance, the Circle, they did not dare even do anything but complain. However, the Terran declaration made them bold. After all, if they provoked the Kelauan, the Terrans would come to their aid, when things got bad enough, and defeat the Kelauan. This was a ridiculous notion, seeing as the Terrans had their own affairs, and with their entry into the Circle, they could not even attack the Kelauan. However, the smaller ones, in their haste, did not take this into account and began to up their complaints, and started making threats. The Kelauans, sharply alarmed and even angrier since they touted the declaration they so despised over their heads, gave a single warning: Attack us, and we will see to it that your people are utterly destroyed. A show of force of a Warfleet was sent to their border with these nations and most fell quiet, their temporary courage curtailed. However one, the Kasrilai Confederacy, did not heed the warning, and launched an attack. For once, they did it quite well. They made rumblings over in the Gatar System, which the Kelauan shifted some of their force to, in order to keep them quiet. They, then, made a very bold move; they attacked one of the core systems, the Kalthis System. They sent a large battle fleet, over two hundred ships. It was perfect, they planned on coming on top of the defenses, and just lashing into them. They planned on weakening the Kelauan and opening a door for an invasion, while weakening them for the expected Terran reinforcements.

They made a couple mistakes, however. They did not know the Kelauan had their technology upgraded by the Realm, which included their FTLi system which blocked all FTL but their own, and it extended out to a light hour. Also, they had a large series of defense systems. The Orbital Defense Stations, (OSD'S), defensive structures that massed as large as a Kelauan battlecruiser, and had the firepower of a Warfleet. Then there was the SENTINEL defense system, which they never encountered before, nor knew of its existence That and their technology was lagging behind the Kelauan a lot, making their ships a lot weaker than the Kelauans. These three factors combined caused their entire fleet to be annihilated. The Kelauan, having been attacked and issued a warning already, then reacted. They gathered their ships, shifting patrol routes and ships to free up a Warfleet for use. So far, they got enough for a battlegroup, eight ships. That would be enough, in their eyes, seeing as they had wiped out most of their fleet.

<”That is true, Praetor. We are fighting some Confederacy; they tried attack one of our core systems, and we wiped out their fleet. I think we know what must be done.”> Kalthir gazed at Warlord Yarlong, commander of the Warsong Warfleet. A long moment passed and then he sighed.

<”I understand. Make it quick; I don't want to waste more time than I need to. You're more valuable home than abroad crushing insects.”>

Yarlong bowed. <”I understand, Praetor.”> He stood up and left, closing the door behind him. The Praetor sighed. Sometimes, he wished people would take their warnings seriously....

Two hours later

In the outer system of Gthad, the jumping point of the Kasrilai battle fleet, a task force of five ships jumped in. The Confederacy had little in the way of defenses, after their loss, so the Kelauan would continue to gather the Warfleet. It was led not by Yarlong, who was gathering the rest of the Warfleet, but his A.I, Darcail. A smart war A.I., whom was trained in all manner of battle techniques, strategies and the like, he was sent to conquer the Gthad system, and destroy all Kasrilai presence, civilian and military. This was both a sign of trust Yarlong had in Darcail and it was a test of letting A.I.'s dictate battle. He had two frigates,a light cruiser, and a destroyer. It was rather small and not very strong compared to the higher classes of ships, but it was enough for this task. Darcail connected the entire fleet together with the battle network, another inspired design from Realm's technology, and issued orders. It enabled the A.I. to give lightning fast orders to the other ships, to their A.I.'s. Thus making them react faster; it was entirely possible that the position of Warcaptain faced extinction if the A.I.'s demonstrated greater effectiveness in battle. However, this was yet to be seen, as this test's existence showed.

They deployed shields and readied weapons. They launched interceptors and fighter-bombers, along with the DDS (Drone Deployment System) ships, which would fly around and launch drones into the battle, drones which were basically bombs with lots of weapons. Perfect for causing havoc, countering massed fighter formations and dealing lots of damage all around. Plenty of mass-dispersal weaponry. They moved into position and headed for the capital planet of this system, Gthad III. Unbeknownst to them, the Confederacy had tried another gamble. They had been negotiating with the Anagonia Federation for months, trying to wrangle some kind of trade deal and the Anagonians were mentioning entry into their Federation. They had refused, but now, with the fleet coming in to hit their system, which was lightly defended by their standards, and the Kelauans ripped through their standards with their battle fleet's death. So, they took a gamble. They accepted the Anagonia offer and became part of their nation. Now, they watched gleefully as their manipulations bore fruit and the Kelauan and Anagonia powers came crashing towards each other, unaware of the other. It was going to be interesting to see how this unfolded....
