OOC and planning thread for the naval exercise we discussed.

Some questions to be discussed before we start:

1. What type of exercise should we be holding?

2. What should the sizes of the forces we deploy be?

3. How long should the exercise last?

4. ORBATs, maps, details of ships?

You said that you wanted to try out your new "Viper Class" destroyer, so could you give me a link to the stats for it?

Sounds acceptable. Now, for the scenario, what about anti-submarine warfare with me playing as the aggressors? One idea could be that you would try to protect a valuable ship, such as a carrier, which the submarines would try to "sink". If you manage to "destroy" or drive off the submarines it is a victory for you, if the submarines manage to hit it I would win. Could that work?

That would be a really good scenario. It would last 4-5 days as the submarines try to sneak up to the carrier and then try to "sink" it. What else could we add to the scenario?

A battle between two carrier groups, maybe?
Colstream

How large do you want the carrier groups to be?
Zaheran

One or two carriers and around twenty-five or so other ships.

Ok. When do you want to start the main thread??

I'll write the opening post as soon as I can. We start with the submarine scenario, I presume?

Yes i think it would be a good opening to the exercise.

Colstream, before we continue I need to know what you are firing those Tomahawks at. Is it my carrier group or the submarine?

OOC: The carrier group to harrass the carriers and try to slow them down
Zaheran

They are not even near your force. Besides, hadn't we agreed to finish the submarine exercise before going for each others carriers?
Colstream

They are like a test firing of our Tomahawk systems using the carriers as a theoretical target and the planned landing of the missiles are a position out to sea and the explosions are to disrupt the submarines sonar system with loud sounds.

Better. Okay, I'll go with that. Expect an IC post any minute.
