Atruria

The government of the Greater Empire of Atruria would like to announce the beginning of a formal space program for Atruria. In order to coordinate this effort, we are officially forming a new government body, the Royal Space Agency.
Up until this point, space-based projects have received little attention in Atruria, generally being run by civilian, commercial research facilities, intelligence services, and military branches. Today, however, marks the day that we bring together a unified space program.
With this announcement comes even greater news. After months of covert research, testing and construction by different bureaus of the government, the initial pieces of a low orbit earth space station are preparing to be launched into space. Space Station Rhodes, as it has ben designated will be launched from the King George V Space Center in Salisbury, Rhodesia.
Currently, the Space Station consists of three separate chambers that will be connected in space by a squad of astronauts, but will be built in a fashion that will allow much more to be added on as time goes by.
Other programs that the Royal Space Agency is intending to embark upon include creating the following:
- Network of intelligence-gathering satellites
- Low orbit delivery system for special operations soldiers anywhere in the world
- Small fleet of spacecraft
- Mission to Mars
