OOC: Yes, yes, the title might not be that great, but I couldn't think of anything else. This is basically a historical RP thread, though not that far back in time, used to fix up my history. The main weapons used will be M16’s and AK47’s. The Nederlandse Overheid will be similar to the South African Government before Nelson Mandela – I can’t think of their name at the moment. Oh, you can either be a single person, or your nation at that period of time - you choose
The year is 1974.
For 8 years, the Indonesian government was ruled by the Nederlandse Overheid, a government ruled by the Dutch minority. These eight years felt terribly long, and any other people that opposed them were repeatedly abused – and even beat down in the middle of the streets. The Geheime Politie, Indonesia's equvalent to the Secret police, showed no mercy, and raped or killed any political enemies of the Nederlandse Overheid, as well as non-European ethnicities. The Nederlandse Overheid isolated themselves from the world, and most believed nothing was wrong with the Indonesian States. However, that was about to change.
On April 2, 1974, 8,000 Batavia University students went to the streets to protest against the government - for the 19th time. People of all nationalities went to make their voice heard, including Soebanto, a 23 year old journalist. Many other people joined the students, including 2,000 revolutionary rebels. This protest was violently scattered, and up to 90 died, with 1,000 others injured. This was the way of most protests against the government at the time. Soebanto, wanting to show the world the truth of the Nederlandse Overheid. took many pictures, not only because he was a journalist, but because he was also a revolutionary fighter. Soon enough, news of this spread throughout the world, and now the Nederlandse Overheid was finally being questioned.
