Fedala Accord

What is the ‘Fedala Accord’?

We are a treaty organization dedicated to the propagation of peace between civilized nations and the establishment of free and unrestricted trade. Our goal is to unite the ‘great nations’ under one banner to better be able to achieve the stated goals, although our definition of ‘great nation’ may not be the same as others (see: ‘How do I join?’). Unlike some alliances, we do not necessarily have a common political ideology – in other words, we do not distinguish ourselves as either capitalists or communists, although our policies (and goals) are capitalists (it would be difficult to accept free trade under a Communist regime). Regardless, without relying on polar examples, not all alliance members are ultra-capitalists, and neither is this a requirement to join. Furthermore, we do not have a ‘common enemy’, like other alliances. The Fedala Accord is a peace-oriented organization, although our charter (see: ‘Charter’) does allow for pre-emptive measurements against any given threat which may arise.

Speak out-of-character (OOC), the Fedala Accord is my attempt at creating a successful alliance apart from say NATO and APOC, especially because I don’t agree with how some of the members of both alliances role-play, and I rather have the alliance integrate what would be ‘my’ circle of role-players and people willing to follow this general role-playing trend (to give an idea of role-players who are in my circle [or I am in their circle – either way], they have or currently include: Safehaven2, Stevid, Independent Hitmen, Aleos/Damirez/Indras, Guffingford, Mekugi, Space Union, et cetera). The main issue is that the two alliances I stated above, in my opinion (although I want to avoid a long OOC argument in this thread), play to win and this wouldn’t be the goal of the ‘Fedala Accord’. To give an image, A Passion Play (integrated most of the players I stated above and more) lasted from August 2005 to around June 2007 (almost two years) and did not have a single out-of-character complaint for its entire length. Nobody role-played to win or to lose, we just did it to have fun, and that’s what I want to inspire with the Fedala Accord. But, this isn’t really a circle of good role-players either, since it wouldn’t make sense (we would have no enemies we would actually like to role-play against).

How do I join?
First of all, this organization does not automatically discard players because ‘they are not known’ or because they don’t write well, and what not. New players and players that don’t consider themselves up to par (no offense is intended if I managed to word this incorrectly) will always be accepted as long as they are willing to try to improve. Not everyone starts NationStates good writers, and actually few have (such as Azazia) – most of us started out rather poorly and slowly improved our writing capabilities. What we’re looking for is a team which is willing to cooperate in role-plays and not play to win, but as aforementioned, play to have fun. The Fedala Accord is not an alliance to join if you’re looking for a power drive; that is not what we’re going to do. Of course, I believe that in the end a lot of us are respected for our role-playing style and are capability of having huge, violent wars without the OOC bitching (A Passion Play, for example, included no less than ten persons) and other type of role-plays as well (although it’s the war RPs which normally fail). In any case, this means that the acceptance ceremony is relatively strict as we will be analyzing the nation in depth before allowing it in – we will probably also try to contact the player to speak with him or her.

For the most part, I want to break this image that just because the person is a big nation and says he/she has a big military it means that the nation is a good role-player. Truth be told, most of these nations are not good role-players (well, this will be disputed, but many people agree). A good role-player does not only write well, but he/she has to be able to cooperate with the other players in the thread in order to insure that the thread will be a success. Really, I don’t think there’s much dispute that wars between current big alliances have ended in out-of-character disaster, at the ‘Fedala Accord’ is here to prove that big alliances are not doomed to failure just because they have a large amount of people in it. The amount of people in a thread is irrelevant if the thread can be organized and if the people in the thread can cooperate (as I keep repeating).

With this in mind, here are the main prerequisites for an application:

- A well written application with the following;
- Two or more links to past (or current) role-plays.
- An out-of-character section (after the IC application) explaining where you believe your role-play can improve.
- What you’re looking for in the alliance (both IC and OOC).
- Agreement with the charter (see below).
- Optional (although preferred – even sent over TG to my account The Macabees): MSN or access to IRC (/server irc.esper.net -> /join #draftroom).

Your application will be copied over to the alliance’s forums, where alliance members will discuss and analyze your nation and your potential for the alliance. Please, accept my apologies for what will inevitably be a very slow acceptance policy. You can probably contact alliance members on the #draftroom on IRC (as mentioned above, it’s in the esper server) – access to the alliance’s channel is restricted until you become a member and receive the password.

Charter
Article I: I agree, upon entry, the reduction of barriers to trade between member nations at an acceptable pace, until levels required by the alliance are reached. The organization’s trade standards relevant to this article can be witnessed in Section 0001 of the accord.

Article II: Member nations agree, by decision of entry, to protect defensively established trade routes between member nations to avoid the disruption of healthy interchange of goods.

Article III: Treaty signers are responsible for the establishment and support of the Fedala Accord’s rapid reaction force (RRF), who’s structure, manpower and capabilities is outlined in Section 0002 of the accord.

Article IV: A security council, established by the assembly of members of the organization and following voting privileges outlined in Section 0003, will be responsible for the decision to make pre-emptive operations against perceived enemies. Security Council rights, privileges and restrictions are discussed in Section 0004.

Article V: The assembly of nations of the organization holds the right to amend any article of the charter and add or detract articles based on assembly voting guidelines outlined in Section 0005.

Article VI: The assembly of nations of the organization holds the right to amend any section of the accord and add or detract sections based on assembly voting guidelines outlined in Section 0005.

Article VII: Member nations agree to partake by either providing forces beyond those already provided for the RRF or monetary aid for peacekeeping operations in foreign states, if the security council believes that such action is necessary. The Fedala Accord always acts in unison for the benefit of the members agreeing with the charter.

Article VIII: Member nations can be booted from the alliance based on the assembly voting guidelines outlined in Section 0005.

OOC: I will be seriously considering this once I am comfortable enough with some of my current IC progression to make it justified, so you know.
So I hope it doesn't die before then.

After just 84 posts? I doubt you'll get in but Mac might admit you. this isa steep alliance, the players that will be in it will have been on this game for years and will be some of the most experianced RPers on the game. We're talking four to seven pages on MS Word sorta posts here.

[OOC: Personally, the issue is not that he's a new role-player. I would actually allow any new player to join, because I believe that helping new players better themselves as role-players should be a priority. The opening posts suggests this, but the key thing that Astater did incorrectly is not read the freakin' post! It says:

'With this in mind, here are the main prerequisites for an application:

Obviously, Astater's application doesn't meet the requirements.]

Crypt of Defenders, Palace of Peace, New Theeb, Vetaka, Nova:

The Londim Lillie’s that surrounded the Crypt of Defenders were in full bloom their beautiful flowers had been planted by the Londims, in the aftermath of the first Theeb Anti Slavery Conference whereby a Londim Warship entered Vetakan Waters and was fired on by an unidentified Submarine. The incident almost trigged a large scale war between Vetaka, Londim and a number of other nations. However the war was averted, the crisis solved. The then Londim President had brought the Lillie’s as a sign of peace when he attended the Funeral of then Vetakan President Daniel Pearce whom was killed by assassination.

Today the Vetakan Sunshine baked down on the Palace of Peace and its glorious well kept grounds, A man in pure white robes whom many knew to be Chieftain Quicksilver and the White Phoenix walked calmly across the lawns of the Palace grounds a SP-45 Pistol was holstered at his side, a magnificent sword was sheathed at his back. Walking towards the crypt he listened to the odd mixture of falling water from the awe inspiring Roxanne Falls and the sound of Urban Life emanating from the hustle and bustle of the New Theeb, The Jewel of Vetaka’s Crown.

The old man leader of Vetaka, its people and military strode forward and saluted the Razgrix Guardsman at the Crypts entrance whom returned the salute and snapped to attention. Pushing open the Oak doors he stepped into the dimly crypt he shut the doors behind him and sighed. He had not entered this crypt since he had brought one of his most trusted warriors and subjects Rising Tiger back from the dead during the early hours of the Vetakan Rebellion. Rising Tigers Sarcophagus still lay empty its lid had been leaned neatly along the empty chambers side. The Chieftain gazed at it before moving past it lighting a candle as he went he walked deeper into the crypt muttering various phrases and words under his breath to various sarcophagus chambers he past. Eventually he came to a halt in front of one kneeling down he whispered:

“I bow to no man”

Waiting for a few seconds he sat down in the lotus position before the coffin drewing his sword from his back he delicately placed it before the chamber ensuring the sword wasn’t closer than 6 inches or so from the chamber. He smiled a weak smile and gazed at the coffins headstone. Reading aloud his voice echoed slightly through the silent crypt:

“Supreme Grand Admiral Jason Barber, Commanding Officer of the 2nd Vetakan Defence Force Battlegroup. Seventeenth in line to the Chiefdom of the White Phoenix. Husband to Scarlet Rogers, Died defending the People of Loyalty from the Clandonian Evil”

He closed his eyes and began to slow his breathing down chanting beneath his voice he descended deeper into a meditative like state. After around 20 minutes or so the old man opened his eyes to find a man was sat opposite him looking down on him the man smiled as did the Chieftain. The Spirit of the Admiral before him, A few seconds of silence past before the Chieftain whispered:

“Dolphin-Freedom, Admiral its been a long time”

“Indeed it has” replied the Admiral

The Chieftain gazed at him and spoke his voice a shadow of its usual self:

“I seek your wisdom, Central Prestonia is broken, I wish to reclaim a lost oath, Is it my right to send such force to fight my own personal battle?”

The Admiral shifted uneasily atop of his tomb before speaking:

“Every Battle Vetaka has waged has been personal to us, during Civil War we fought for freedom, we joined the invasion of Strator to free the oppressed we brought liberty to many a person and we made many friends. The Clandonian War we waged to defend our Freedom, Our Loyalty and Honour……
The Chieftain whinced at the mention of the Clandonian War afterall it was that war that cost the Admiral his life.

………… the point is every battle, war and campaign this nation has waged has been a personal war to a person or persons. Its just been that such personal responsibility for such wars have stemmed from a desire to uphold the principles and ideals of Honour, Loyalty, Courage, Peace, Tolerance, Acceptance, Diversity, Liberty and above all Love. The impending campaign within Central Prestonia is a campaign yet again to uphold these principles and reclaim the Lost Oath and repay the debt Vetaka owes to the Prestonian People.”

The Chieftain hung off the Admirals every word, like a child hangs off each word of a bedtime fable or story. Eventually the old chief croaked:

“Thank You my friend, I bow to no man”

The Admiral smiled and patted the Chief on the shoulder looking at the old man’s wrinkled face he whispered:

“Roxanne sends her love, Your doing the right thing. Good Luck”

With that the Admiral faded to nothing atop of the tomb, the Chieftain once again opened his eyes staring up at the tomb he smiled and rose to his feet making his way back out of the Crypt he blinked in the sunlight and yet again made his way back across the lawns this time for the majestic palace that dominated his view.

Subject: The Tribal Chiefdom of Vetaka's Application to Join the Fedala Accord

Greetings,

Honoured Members of the Fedala Accords I as leader of the Tribal Chiefdom of Vetaka hearby present my nations application to join the Hallowed Fedala Accord. Since the foundation of Vetaka in its first era as a Capitalist Democratic Repubic and in its now second era as a Tribal Chiefdom this nation has done its best to further world peace and harmony amongst men. In every decsion made and activity pursued the Vetakan People have furthered and protected the ideals of Loyalty, Honour, Peace, Courage, Acceptance, Diversity, Respect, Liberty, Freedom and above all Love.

Where possible the Vetakan People have always attempted to avoid conflict, solve problems, and influence our enemies by pursuing diplomatic and peaceful courses of action. For example the foundation of the Theeb Accords (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=520934)a document to fight slavery was agreed and signed by many nations within the Vetakan Capital of New Theeb (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=530707).

However whilst the Vetakan People are a peaceful race dedicated to furthering ourselves and humanity based on the ideals mentioned. The Vetakan People are a race of warriors whom excel in defending as many know especially the Clandonians (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=526488) a Vetakan is willing to lay his life down to defend the Vetakan Nation and its People from Conflict, Occupation, Death, Destruction and Evil.

If accepted into the Honoured Fedala Accord the Vetakan People will do what they can to further the Accords Aims and Protect its Ideology.

I Bow To No Man, But I Bow To You

Yours

Out of Character:

Wow speaking OOC is hard!!!

Firstly In Character my nation is looking for Allies who are Honourable and Capable people the Chieftain can depend upon. As such at the moment we are only member of one Alliance/Commonwealth this being the Delian League. However IC the Chieftain feels most attracted to the Fedala Accord and feels the Accord is most in line with the current Policy and Political Rethoric of Tribal Vetaka.

In an Out of Character sense I personally I am looking to be part of a group I can successfully RP with. I feel one of the underlying problems of NS Earth speaking in particular regards to the "International Incidents" Forum is that the forum has become polarised between APOC and NATO. It is my view that a total Cold War has desended upon the Forum and thus across the various mIRC's Rooms that surround the NS Culture. For example in the #draftroom their is a strong feeling of "APOC or NATO Pick One Now". As a result I want to join a group whom want to breakaway from this and breakdown this cold barrier which is causing many RP's to collapse before they begin. For example twice NATO & APOC have tried to fight in the past year and twice the RP has failed due to Cock Waving and bitching. Which is a Shame, hence I wish to join the Fedala Accord to RP with more freedom and adventure.

As a roleplayer their are numerous areas I feel I can improve upon some of which are:

1) Improving my basic knowledge of Real Life and Nationstates Military Technology so that I can understand the Resources and Assets I am utlising on a battlefield. I feel in doing this I can be more in touch with the characters and describe in greater depth how they feel. For example I want to be able to describe how a Vetakan Fighter Pilot feels after he has just shot down a Enemy or managed to shake an Enemy Pilot off his six.

2) Improving my basic understanding and knowledge of different cultures, races and religion. Many nations are RP'd as democracies whereby every person within that nation has equal freedoms and rights. As a result and I admit I have done the same how often do you RP your characters based on one specific sterotype. In improving my understanding and knowledge of different cultures and religions I can utlize these characters within my RP's. For example I am a White Christian Male and I accept up until now I have RP'd my characters as being predominately White. However now I wish to RP my characters being of Muslim, Jewish, Etc Etc Origin so that I can represent my nations Political Views of Diversity, Tolerance and Acceptance within my RP's. It should be noted I also aim to RP more characters as being Gay, Lesbian and Bi-Sexual

3) Improving my understanding of Diplomacy, Military Logistics and above all the basic human ability of free will.

4) Perhaps my most important area I wish to improve upon one that I always fail to do as I am usually to tired to do it is to Proof Read and Spell Check my Posts.

Finally I am on the draftroom quite often as many know but my MSN is and Idiots beware I bite: rising_phoenix01@hotmail.com

:( failed already to uphold number 4, bastard!!

Communiqué For the Vetakan Administration

Greetings,

Given the honorable intentions of your nation to uphold peace, when possible, or to establish peace when non-existant, the administrations of Yafor, Damirez and the Golden Throne have deemed that Vetaka would be a stupendous member of the Fedala Accord. As a consequence, this communiqué is meant largely to congratulate your nation and the leadership of the great nation on their success, and furthermore, we wish to welcome you into the alliance. Together, we shall establish peace and global stability, even through force if it's necessary. We will work together to establish economic parity throughout the accord. It was never in doubt that the progressive ambitions of Vetaka were perfect for the purposes of the Fedala Accord, and they are in line with the politics of the Second Empire of the Golden Throne, Yafor and Damirez. It should also be noted that Vetaka's membership in the Delian League was highly esteemed, although ultimately would have had little impact on the decision to endorse Vetaka's membership in the Fedala Accord - Vetaka, alone, is enough reason to allow her into the alliance's ranks.

We wish to thank you for your patience, and your utmost willingness to enter the Fedala Accord no matter the time it took to make a decision. It is this strict entry policy which will ultimately make the Fedala Accord differ from other alliances, such as NATO or APOC.

(OOC: This post is just to inform that I've been keeping an steady interest on the Fedala Accord, and although I don't have the intention of making an immediate application for it, I'll probably make one once I finish the last piece of the puzzle which is Third Spanish States history in the next few months, although there would be some IC issues on it, particularly the complete absence of taxes and the fact that if Third Spanish States was capitalist, it would have a corporate Army, because as of now its Army is already a private institution not linked to a central government and self-sufficient through sales of technology and know-how, almost like a corporate Army, thus meaning financial support to the Fedala accord would require their willingness to do so)

State Department Communication

The Confederacy would be most intersted in applying for this alliance. With the sucecess of the Augustine Coup, and with support from allies across the globe, we have sucessfully avoided a long and bloody civil war. However, this does not come without a price. The economy has collasped and we are only recently starting to recover, with inflation at one point reaching over 1,000%. In addition, TPF has withdrawn from all previous alliance commitments, both with indvidual nations and organized alliances such as the APOC. We beleive that this alliance, with it promoting peace and international co-operation would be the perfect way to reenter world affairs.

By allowing us into your alliance the members would be allowing a well-respected and known nations into the alliance, one which has weathered the international scene for more than twenty years and has proven time and tinme again its commitment to friends and allies as well as the spread of freedom. We hope that your alliance considers us for a position, for the memebrs have much to gain and little to loose.

Moorington
25-04-2008, 23:28
In Moorington, the Polis, the sky is blanketed by an assortment of helicopters and airplanes, often said a unholy amount- why this is can be summed up by any of the many oil paintings, photographs, and sketches of the great city; it is almost completely without vehicles. The choice was not made easily, and it was not made without pain, yet it was made.

If any piece of legislation is too better capture the idealistic nature of Moorington, you could do no better than seize upon QC3, a rather dull sounding title that masks the moving appeal carried within- it rages against the destruction caused by urban sprawl, the appeal a city loses as it becomes grid-locked for eternity, the people that are killed and the ancient marvels destroyed by cars and trucks. It calls for a complete over haul of the city, one that makes almost every building require a helipad, and a shuttle service now un-matched throughout the world.

That was why the speaker's hair was a little wind-blown as he got up to speak at the Reichstag, in front of one of the toughest audiences of his career, while at the same time appealing to some 6 billion people at the other end of the vast array of television cameras directed his way.

"My fellow Moors-

Today is a day that I present to you a proposition, one that carries much weight in my heart, and in my mind. For both my mind, and my heart tell me that this cause is right, and that this cause is just; that the Fedala Accords are inherently good, and just- that we shall never be able to achieve another opportunity like this.

Moorington has long been a fiercely, and proudly, independent country- we have stood our ground in face of external, and internal, tribulations- we have weathered many storms, and have stood against many tides- we have prospered, and we have grown.

Now with something close to 6 billion souls within our country, we have now more men under arms then a few small countries have people, our culture is flourishing and our will is just as determined as it was centuries ago.

Yet some things must come to pass, even the most violent and unstoppable rivers change their course, and so must we. Our period of isolation is at an end- we shall never again be so alone, we shall never again, rely on temporary promises, we shall never again, be friendless.

Our country shall, if the Reichstag would as kind as to pass it, be one of a few, a individual of individuals, a equal among masters, a nation among nations defined by their own personal greatness. We shall not give up our morals, we shall not give up our heritage, we shall not give up what is truly right, but instead we shall give up our fear. We will make ourselves more able to fulfill our divine mandate, our sub-conscious will to dominate, that position as a world power that is ours by right.

My countrymen, my friends at the Reichstag, it is time for us to throw off the shackles of isolationism, it is time to free ourselves from timidity, it is time to bravely step into the sunlight- to never again inhabit the shade. We shall not be stuck in that twilight between night and day, for that is far worse then even defeat- my people, it is time to make the decision: shall we once and for all, accept the responsibilities of the world, or shrug them off and hide in a corner? I hope, dearly so, that the answer is obvious to each and every one of you.

As Maxen von Bismarck; Duke, Chancellor, and Warmonger of Moorington stepped away from the microphone, cheers reverberated throughout the Reichstag. The people, their representatives, even he, was a little overcome by his performance.

Congratulations were in order from his selection of assistants and bureaucrats was expect- what he was really worried about was some of the die-hards, some of the true isolationists that even now raised a few debates, got a few laws on the floor (that didn't pass, thankfully) that fully supported a complete closure of the world from Moorington... Moreover, vice-versa.

However, he was not disappointed for almost unanimously the Reichstag voted in favor of the accords- the single vote against was by a certain Susan G. Davis, who gave no reason- a publicity stunt branded Maxen's staff.

As he left the building, exhilarated by success, the only comment that Herr Bismarck said was, cryptically, "nuts!"

To: The Security Council of the Fedala Accords

From: Venerable Duke, Chancellor and Warmonger; Maxen von Bismarck

Subject: The Venerable Kapitalistic Kommunes of the Libertarian Institution of Moorington's Application to Join the Fedala Accord

Salutations,

Honored Members of the Fedala Accords I as leader of Kapitalistic Institution of Moorington hereby present my nations application to join the venerable Fedala Accord. Moorington has, and will always be, fiercely independent- since the beginning of time, even when Moorington was known as merely 'Empire,' we have clung to ourselves, our rights, our freedoms and our morals. We need no one, but we will be more then happy to ask for entrance into your mighty halls.

We merely hope, that throughout all of this, we shall not be forced to meet as master and servant, but that the accords will bring about a meeting of equals- that merit, not size nor age nor guns shall bring respect, but the inherant quality of each nation and leader.

Our only request is that if fighting is too be done, let not one of them live. We never do anything half-way.

In all due respect,

Duke of The Polis Moorington
Chancellor of Moorington
Warmonger of Immense Proportions
Guardian of The Holy Llama
The Divine Wrath of His Divine Grace
God's Faithful Servant,

Maxen von Bismarck

OOC:

I'll say A End to Austrian Capitalism; Goes Forth: Imperialism (Past) and Spy vs. Spy. vs Spy, both AMW stuff, not part of it anymore, but still, good memories- Macabees knows AMW rather well, I'm guessing.

My RPing can be improved a lot, that's rather obvious, but where I most want to improve is not my ideas, my writing (or at least, only a moderate amount of improvement there), Moorington, or its back story- no, what I want to improve is the statistical aspect of Moorington. I honestly have no idea what compromises a 'healthy' military beyond a few stray facts. I think the one thing now that is really hampering me is that I have no idea what a true military force is composed of. Yes, I see those epic posts of which I am entirely too jealous of, but I honestly don't know how they came to their conclusions- thus, why I haven't Copied and Pasted already (half-joking), and why I have stayed away from this sort of thing for the most part.

What I want from the alliance? Well, mainly what I want from this is a way for me to finally get Moorington onto the world stage, and to get myself away from the entertaining, and amusing, alternate history RPs which do have their own certain form of appeal, are still not quite what I want to be writing now and days (or at least, not all what I want to write).

I believe that if I join this alliance, that not only will I actually be developing my standing, but also my country- if anything, the highly thought over and brilliantly written countries of the current (and expected) signatories will only propell my imagination to new heights. Thus, Moorington to new levels of development and detail that I have always felt is lacking, but didn't quite know how to fix.

For as I ponder to myself, just what exactly is Moorington, I really don't know. My military is horribly unknown, I don't even know where to start, my general background on which I 'paint' my nation is at best generically German with a slight tinge of Greek and Catholic undertones- not exactly detailed nor novel.

Basically, I hope to try and fix all those foundational problems of discovering what exactly I want to RP, after all these years, while also winning a war here, maybe getting won a colony here; yet regardless of if I win or lose, what I most want is a civilization that can do it in style.

Feel free to ask more questions on AIM, mine of which is: RepublicanMax.

Improving myself as a Writer

I feel strongly that my skills as an RPer are directly connected to my skills as a writer, in any language. Although the skills in one sphere do not completely overlap the other, they are close enough that there is extremely little distinction between the two. I believe that the writer of the original post, and probably by extension the others who choose to associate with this alliance also feel the same, based on the wording used.

That said, I feel that I could greatly improve my skills as a writer. While I rarely get negative reviews of my writing, and, if I ask my circle of friends and RPers, get extremely positive reviews, I feel that my own writing is a bit contrived and at points, I think that I focus too much on details that ultimately don't matter.

For instance, I feel that in my current main RP, that while I went into detail about the actions of a sniper team setting up an apartment in preparation for an assassination, I feel that the story arc about the couple that owned the apartment was a bit contrived.

The post in question can be found here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=555170).

Also, as an RPer, I feel that I haven't had enough experience losing. While a planned RP with a friend will help ease that burden on my mind, I would like to try a few RPs where Yanitaria loses the war. Too many military RPs that I have been a part of have turned into OOC shouting matches, and honestly I feel that for the moment I am done RPing wars, at least until I finish developing a number of weapons for my military which have been put on hold.

On the note of grammar, I sometimes use homonyms of the words, instead of the actual word I am looking for. For instance, I, for a long time, had a Boarder Patrol, instead of a Border Patrol.

Finally, I believe that in the past, my higher quality posts seem to come in bursts, with the posts between them being boring and a bit contrived, which I believe detracts from the quality of the better posts, directly. Because the later posts are based on the contrived and boring posts, their quality suffers.

Reasons, OOC

My OOC reasons for wanting to join are very simple. First of all, I know that all of the writers that were listed are of a very high caliber, and I have come to respect a number of them, mostly from interactions in the draftroom, and from reading various RPs in which they have been involved. However my main motivation comes from the fact that I have had absolutely stunning RP experiences that come from non-competitive, or only half-heartedly competitive RPs.

I remember that my best RP experiences come from diplomatic and trade RPs, where neither side is especially trying to win anything. However, I feel that these RPs only offer a shallow pool, into which one may attempt to dive into. Since the interactions are often impersonal, it is often impossible to actually RP anything deeper than feigned amusement and deep sympathy.

Actually, the most fun I've ever had in an RP was in a wargame entitled "Operation: Playtime", where a Yanitarian marine force (now defunct), invaded the Orbathian coast, and pushed the Orbathians back into a mock-up of a town, where they surrounded the leader and negotiated a surrender, before the two commanders met to discuss strategy. The best part about it was that neither of us were trying to win, and that both of us were more than willing to assign casualties to ourselves fairly and equally.

Another great experience in RPing came from my own story lines, where I tried to actually write the story of a young socialist, son of a national hero, and his attempts to reconcile his socialist beliefs, as well as his conscience, while attempting to win an election with the monarchist party, and while reinstating the monarchy which his father had brought down. Although I haven't written much on this, and mostly slip bits of it into other RPs, I feel that it is an interesting story line, that leads to an interesting country that attempts to blend their traditional monarchy, which is influenced by france and great britain, with the liberal, indie/bohemian/hipster lifestyles of it's younger generations, which stand against almost everything the monarchy symbolizes, and which will eventually lead to a civil war that will be done among my friends, with no specific provisions for a winner or a loser, and with the goal of simply writing a good story.

In fact, my friends and I have created a region, in which our histories will be heavily integrated, and non-competitive RPing is valued first and foremost. It is extremely refreshing to have collaborative efforts put into histories, with advice and ideas being thrown back and forth, and it really improves the history of the region as a whole, compared to even some of the more experienced RPers, who have been on NS for years.

In short, I love the idea of RPing for the story, rather than the competition.

Reasons, IC

Yanitaria is a socialist nation, which I RP according to my political ideals, and my upbringing, both of which emphasize the community and family above individual greed. Currently, Yanitaria is at a turbulent point.

The newly reinstated monarchy, headed by a party that would like nothing more than to put the Yanitarii, the major ethnic group of Yanitaria, back into a subservient position in relation to the Arkadians, a minority ethnic group that includes almost all of the wealthiest Yanitarians. However this newly reformed monarchy reinstated a king that is not only a Yanitarii, but also a socialist, and unwilling king.

The government policies of King Frederick Norheim II, and his father, Citizen Mattias Norheim, have brought untold income equality to Yanitaria, and generally has improved the lot in life of the Yanitarii greatly. However, the more recent push for more open market has met some friction.

However, Yanitaria's greatest problem is that currently, the nations that historically bought Yanitaria's major exports, namely agricultural products and weapons, have either become less than strictly dependent (according to regional history, several nations vitally needed Yanitarian Ag products), or simply haven't been buying weapons in the same bulk as they did. This creates problems, as the many arms factories run by the state are now running at a loss, and many farmers are growing marijuana for domestic use, decreasing foreign trade, and the taxes gathered from it.

Also, Yanitaria has drifted from the already lose affiliation of political ideologies with our closest ally (leading to the current operation to assassinate the popular capitalist opposition leader in Stoklomolvi), and is increasingly finding itself alone in the region, among a sea of libertarian states.

Because of this, increasinly immoral actions have had to have been taken by the government, among them are an assassination plot of their closest ally's future leader, allowing the crime syndicates to buy weapons to sell to less reputable nations, and quelling, by extreme force, rebellions in newly acquired colonies.

At the moment, Yanitaria is extremely desperate to increase it's foreign trade, and to avoid becoming one of the last two socialist states in the region it inhabits (the other being my close OOC friend and IC protectorate, Kabavia).

Yanitaria ICly feels that joining this alliance could possibly solve the problems of trade which are currently plaguing it, as well as allowing for increased relations with foreign states that may support it if the other regional members, driven by a perceived oppression of the Yanitarian people, attempt to invade. Although it acknowledges the fact that the latter is extremely unlikely, it is wary of the extremely inconsistent emotions of the people of capitalistic countries.

Agreement, contact info, and linkage

Yanitaria ICly agrees to all parts of the charter, and if it is required, I will make an IC post stating so.

I can be reached via MSN, AIM or Google Talk, however I only have a marginal understanding of the use of an IRC channel, but I have no doubt in my ability to quickly learn it. I will TG Mac with my MSN address.

Below are a number of RPs which I feel adequately represent my RPing abilities.

Both The Peoples Freedom and Moorington have been accepted [as they both know], and an IC post will come when we decide Yanitaria's membership status. Yanitaria, for the most part you are almost accepted, but there is a question pertaining to your past history in your old region or something ruther [I'm not quite sure] and your objective of using this alliance as a shield. We would all like to know your nation's current diplomatic issues in greater depth, as we need to calculate the propensity of Yanitaria dragging the Fedala Accord into a war [since we have to defend our trade routes].

OOC: If you would like to talk about that incident in depth, I'd be glad to comment on it to the group as a whole. And if it's really an issue, to show that I don't give a damn about using the Fedala Accord as a shield, I'd be happy to give up any right to having the nations of the Accord come to my aid it times of war, or something like that.

In any case, I know the issue at hand, and the amount of misinformation there was pertaining to it. If it is really that big of an issue, I would like the chance to tell my side of the story.

Well, we're discussing this on the alliance forums; the main question is:

1. Who are your current enemies? In specific, we'd like to know about your foreign policy.

OOC: I don't have any enemies. I am currently in a conflict with Miroxia, but I have turned back my bombers, and am about to recall my fleets, since we are going to have peace talks.

I suppose at one point Akimonad and I were enemies, but we are workings things out peacefully, and my king is even visiting Akimonad at the moment.

Foreign policy wise, Yanitaria is really sort of Isolationist when it comes to nations outside of the region. With in the region, we have good working relations with almost everyone, and there is lots of talk about intra-regional trade.

Yantaria sells weapons to warring countries, but usually avoids major conflicts, and tends to try and work things out peacefully.

Since the alliance forums (http://s1.zetaboards.com/Fedala/index/) [which you should join] has fallen silent on the issue, I think I will take this into my own hands. Given that you have no outstanding enemies, I believe that Damirez' opinion that perhaps you'd drag us into a current war is misconstrued, given that you can't (you're not in a war). $_random_unnamed_nation and I forgot who else ... talked to me on the #draftroom about the war and said that you had a hard time distinguishing OOC from IC and took a lot of things personally, but I think that this will smoothen out over time (I did the same thing back in 2003-2004). As a result, you're accepted into the Fedala Accord with full honors - I hope that you're not annoyed by the time it took to decide this and by the questions which were asked; it's important that we intorrogate all the people who want to join.

Thank you,

IC section:

The P.M. stretched. The economy was sound, the military ever-growing, and political disputes with the United Democratic Front for the voting age had been quashed with the timely suggestion of a Royal Commission. Like that would achieve anything. he smiled to himself. No, he was sure that Lord Ambleman's Royal Commission into the Electoral Age of Suffrage would find nothing in favour of reducing the age from 25 years and it would be some time until the U.D.F. had the political power to bring the issue up. After all, they would most likely be on the run after the next by-election, having been smashed by the Tories in rural areas, by the Liberals in urban areas, and by the Paternalist and Nationalists in the Southern and Boer areas respectively.

The only problem that remained was foreign policy. In three days a vote would be held on whether the Empire should remain part of A.P.O.C. Russell had never particularly considered A.P.O.C. a worthy venture, but the continued membership of Willink and Praetonia had persuaded him that it was better to be on the inside than not in at all. It had been a decision made by a Monarch just a little too close to the Doomani, Russell thought. Yes, the Doomani were the issue here. And the Zukariaans, too, he supposed, but perhaps less so... after all, they did commit considerably less genocide than their catholic partners across the pond. Nevertheless, this was an issue of democracy now.

And if Questers withdrew from A.P.O.C., what then? He had been in communication with the Praetonian Government, but apart from that, there were no formal plans. And this Fedala Accord, well, it looked neutral enough, and what better reason to put it to Parliament than defence of trade? Yes, perhaps the Prime Minister and the Liberals would propose this at the next meeting. He reached for the Phone, and before dialing to arrange an emergency cabinet meeting, he paused and took a folded piece of paper from one of his shirt pockets. First, he had to arrange his son's birthday presents. Tommorow, Questers would formally apply to join the Fedala Accord.

"Dear Sirs,

A Modern Democracy, supporting and defending the principles of the rule of law, personal liberty, and individualism. This, perhaps, is not what you would attribute to our nation, but let me persuade you that this is the case. Any perceptions of our nation you may have previously had ought to be dispelled at once, for we have undergone much change since the days of cooperation with Doomani slave-captors and the harsh rules of apartheid. And democracy? One man, one vote. Each man or woman is free to choose his path in life.

In our country today we have abolished the ancient laws of racial and gender basis, in economic, civil, and political issues. Sirs, I make it clear to you, that our country is not the racialist capital of the world like one could perhaps believe. The economic and civil liberty enjoyed by our citizens has brought us all together in unity, negroid, woman, irregardless. The apparently racialist church preacher buys his bibles from a paper-printing company who buys its paper from a black paper producer. This is the legacy of the free market.

United together, our country has fought many evils. A hundred and ten years ago last week our Fleet broke the back of the Doomani Navy as it pushed its way into the Strobovian Strait. Thirty years ago it did the same at the Second Battle of Paralentum. And fifteen years ago, we fought N.A.T.O and Gholgoth to a standstill. For all their empty threats and arrogance, the Gholgoth nations could not come to finish what Questers had started. They could not bring themselves to attempt to shatter the foundations on which our nation was built.

I do not come to you today to boast about past military experiences. I come to present you with a new Questers. A Questers whose, like a skyscraper, foundations may have been built on war and on violent discrimination but whose upper floors are constructed on economic growth, individualism, and most importantly, peace. The fighting our people have endured has secured us our freedom, and that is all that we require. A prosperous people need not fight. It is beneficial for the nations of the Fedala Accord, and for Questers, to trade with one another and to have the routes of trade undisturbed. For this purpose, we promise to you the full capacity of the Royal Navy in trade-line defence and anti-piracy - and what a capacity it is, with over three hundred ships being laid down each fiscal year under the Naval Construction Act.

Some of the typical traits of the Questarian are stoicism, loyalty, a well-nature disposition, and a good sense of humour. These are all qualities which we will bring with us into your Accord if accepted. Be aware that Questers can defend itself, but will not sit idly by while her allies require the same. History tell us as much, and I am as qualified as any other to say that the Questarian people are inspired to great acts no more by personal inspiration than they are by foreign suffering.

In the name of peace, of trade, and of friendship, formally, the Questarian Empire requests its accession to the Fedala Accord."

Kisikil walked through her office door, the cup of hot tea in her hand carefully held so as not to spill it even though she was not watching where she was going. She had done this so many times now since assuming office as Dictator that it was second nature however, and the papers in her other hand were quite interesting to say the least. Without looking up from those papers she stepped around her desk, took a sip of her tea, and sat down in her chair, lifting her feet up onto the desk. A moment passed before she looked up at the elderly woman sitting accross from her desk already. "Panchito" she began, addressing by first name the woman who had served with both her mother and grandmother, "Have you seen this? It's a letter from several senators of the Civil Senate. They are urging me to continue the steps of internationalization, and believe they have found where to begin." she tossed the papers in her hand gently onto the desk towards the elderly woman and then took another sip of her tea.

"I have read it. And I am sorry to say but I agree with the senators." Panchito replied, leaning back to get more comfortable in her chair. "Your mother started a process you yourself believe in, the process to opening the market to more international flow, to tourisim, to a more active role in the world today. This has been the slowly increasing agenda of the last three dictators, yourself included, and finally the Senates are taking warmly to the idea. That, " she said nodding towards the papers tossed upon the desk, "may just be the perfect venue to approach the issue now as the Senates and people are becoming ready."

Kisikil closed her eyes a moment and took another sip of her tea, she enjoyed her tea as she though, considering a moment her wise old mentor's words. "I'm worried for our industry though. We have resources we are careful not to exploit, but many in the world would gladly do so if they could, a completely free and open market could destroy what we have.."

"It could also improve what we do not see now." interupted the elderly woman, reminding Kisikil that she, even as she grew older herself, still did not see everything.

"Indeed." Was all Kisikil could respond as she looked down at the papers for a long moment. "Verywell, inform the senate I am to make a formal application to this accord. If we are permitted it will be put to them to accecpt or reject our membership as the Senate sees fit. Although old allies of ours exist within its slowly growing ranks, we will see just how progressive the Senates have become soon enough." Kisikil looked up from the papers as she shifted herself around, taking her feet from her desk. "And thank you for your counsel Panchito, it does mean much to me." she said to the elderly woman, with a smile on her face. Panchito however simply smiled back, slowly getting up from her chair and leaving the office, happy to see the progression of the nation even in her last years of service.

From the Office of the Dictator of Sumer

It is with joy in my heart that I write in regards to formal application to adopt the Fedala Accord. Much discussion over the past has been made within Sumer in regards to internationalisation, that is the opening of aspects of the nation to a more foreign-friendly way, and long has there been resistance within the elected portions of the government. Today, however, I have recieved a formal letter from several senators of the conservative way who wish to encourage me to seek the inevetible internationalisation where it may best suit our nation, and they have suggested the Fedala Accord as a starting point. I am keen to consider such a proposal, especially with such nationalities on the list of members as I see, nations who have pried their way into Sumer despite isolationalist policies, and made friends.

As an ancient and large nation, we have seen much and experianced much in this world. Freedom of person is of the utmost importance in Sumer, within reason as defined not by the government, but by the people themselves. Our economy is good and strong, one we consider unique but if it must be classified for foreign use then it will likely fall within the concept of socialisim, although very loosely. With strong military, agricultural, and mineral prospects to offer, at our own pace, to those who we are willing to trade with, we feel it would be worth while to approach such a carefully built accord to expand these areas. You may also rest assured that ten thousand years of history have not clouded the minds of the Sumerian people with ideas of grandure, we are not a warmongering people, nor are we expansionistic. We fight when we must, and prefer to approach relations through talk long before, and even durring, conflict becomes nessecary.

As of now I see no problems with the charter which you have outlined, however I can not speak for how the Civil Senate will vote later, nor can I speak for future changes to the charter itself. However, in good faith of the future, I accecpt the charter as it is now in my nation's application for this accord.

I, personally and as the representative of my people, look forward to this future.

Lyras

Lyran Diplomatic Corps Official Message

RE: Issues pertaining to entry into the Fedala Accords

It is with a great sense of anticipation that I pen these words on behalf of Warmarshal Krell. For nearly two hundred years, Lyras has held itself aloof from any formal multiparty alliance agreements, a situation that has, until quite recently also reflected the perception with Lyras that such ventures bring more trouble than they are worth.

The Fedala Accords, however, offer a uniquely structured and principled opportunity to acquire the benefits of multipartite agreements with a great deal less of the risk element inherent in most. It has thus been determined, after a tremendous amount of discussion within the ranks of Executive Command, that the Protectorate of Lyras is to formally apply to enter into the Accords.

There are, by virtue of the Protectorate's unusual socio-economic and cultural construction, some issues that need to be brought into focus as part of this application process, primarily relating to the difficulties posed in regards to the concept of free trade within the Lyran state. The issues, specifically, are the result of the extremely rare form of exchange utilised internally by the citizens of Lyras.

Lyras, as a state, does not utilise a form of economics that most other cultures or political entities would advocate. This is due to the Lyran Protectorate's counter-paradigmatic genesis and broadly polemic extant nature, focused as it is in a way that conventional states are not, nor can be, upon warfare, and capability to engage in such, as an endstate.

At its most basic level, the accumulation of wealth within Lyras is not simply strongly discouraged, and running counter to the social and culturally paramount philosophical leanings, but is, by way of the method in which goods and services are distributed, technically impossible.

The Protectorate of Lyras is a military state. This fact will come as no surprise to any who read this document. This factor has not been concealed, nor would it be, but has rather been rightfully celebrated as an achievement in a world that seems increasingly focused on self-serving materialism. The way this manifests, in an economic sense, bears further scrutiny from a non-Lyran perspective.

Put bluntly, Lyrans are not paid in the same manner as non-Lyran entities remunerate their personnel. Service to the Lyran state IS life, not simply the means to acquire the resources to allow life to continue. Personnel who serve Lyras, that being the entire population of the Protectorate, are provided work-credits, by which they can acquire the goods and services necessary to sustain themselves. More are acquired as the difficulty and percieved value of position and/or rank rises. However, as the accumulation of wealth, and the greed that so often accompanies it, has such potential to undermine a society's moral and ethical foundations, to say nothing of undermining those values within an individual. As such, Lyras has taken a conscious step to render accumulation of wealth, and the threat to personal and collective honour that it represents, impossible.

Work-credits, the only accepted (or legal) means of obtaining goods and services within Lyras' borders, expire after three months. The logic is simple. Quite obviously if those work-credits are still in an account after three months, then they are not needed by the account holder, and as they are not needed, are cancelled.

In this manner, personnel may acquire what they need, are rewarded in a material sense (albeit limited) for more successful service to the Protectorate and (through it) their peers, and are, by essence of the manner in which goods and services are traded, forced to focus their ambitions on other facets of endeavour.

While this perspective and strategy is simple and effective within the confines of Lyras, and its unique social, economic, military and political structures, when interraction with the outside world's economic forces is contemplated then the situation becomes more complicated.

Until this point, Lyran interaction, at the level of the individual at least, with other states has been extremely low. Currency stipends to the relevant personnel was provided not in the form of work-credits, but in the requisite foreign currency, routed to an account under their control fed by the reserves held by the Lyran Governmental Trade Department. Traditionally the centre of trade within the Protectorate, the Governmental Trade Department has overseen the international arms trades conducted by Lyran Arms, and the currency generated is in turn used to purchase foreign hardware or raw materials, reinvested overseas, or turned over to the Protectorate's foreign currency reserves.

Given the complete state (and by non-Lyran terms, complete military) control over all domestic activity, we are uncertain as to whether the terms of the Fedala Accord application calling for allowance of free trade can be applicable to Lyras. Not so much as through an unwillingness to interract, but through the mechanics involved in the process. To put the above in short, Lyran economics simply do not function in the same manner as that observed in other states.

We would welcome input or suggestions as to possible courses of action, at either a national or Accord level, and/or the establishment of a multiparty discussion on the matter.

Either way, we are keen to engage on this point.

What we seek of the Accord, and what we bring, are similar. We expect honour, in word and in deed, and we bring honour of our own. We are warriors, and soldiers, and it is this that we offer. We will gladly be your blade, for as warriors we fight for the Protectorate, and do so also in defence of all who look to it for guidance or guard. There is no higher honour, no greater glory, than to enter combat outnumbered by the largest possible margin and emerge victorious.

Combat is our life, and we fear not death, for the honourable will find their end in the field. Honour is the lifeblood of a warrior. Without honour, a warrior is less than the dust from whence he came. There is no virtue above honour. Without honour, there is not life.

Please let us know, as soon as practical, what say you.

Stand undaunted

OOC:

RP improvement; Characterisation. I am taking conscious effort to differentiate my characters, which have often blurred together a great deal.

Charter agreement is provisional. There are, as detailed above, some issues. Lyran culture and society has no modern or historical equivalent, although there exist similarities.

I, OOC-ly, want to join to interact on a deeper level, and further my appreciation for the states you conceptualise, and yours for mine. Some of the most interesting moments on NS have been 'aaahh' moments, when I finally come to an understanding of an element of someone's RPing.

IC reasons for accepting Lyras are many. Lyras is a powerful state, disproportionately so for its population base. Lyras is also an honourable state, extremely unlikely to go to war without just cause. Further, Lyras is, in many ways, like a loaded and cocked weapon. There is no 'mobilisation time'. Lyras IS mobilised. There is nothing else. In conjunction with Article VII, Lyras can, fairly comfortably, at very short notice and with no internal disturbance, deploy forces as required. Lyran inclusion within the Accords would add an element of reaction speed and combat mass that should be very appealing.

Communiqué to Prime Minister Benjamin Russel
Esteemed colleague Prime Minister Russel,

The name Questers is one that should be known to any diplomat, whether great or one which belongs to a backwater state tens of thousands of kilometers from civilization. It is true, as you state, that Questers has for too long been identified as an ally of Doomingsland, and perhaps a partner even in the political and ideological sense. It's relaxing to hear that Questers has not completely joined in the barbaric practices of the Doomani Empire - but, this is besides the point. It has been an unfortunate turn of events that the Second Empire chose to enter NATO, whilst Questers chose APOC, but perhaps Quester's dealings with Castilla y Belmonte - a partner of the Second Empire, in many ways - has allowed our two nations to once again hope for steadier relations; this is especially true as we leave NATO in search for our proper destiny. In so many ways do our empires share common characteristics and ambitions, including the abolution of a religious state, the devolution to the people of natural rights and the embracement of the free-market.

It is because of this that the Second Empire's representative at the Fedala Accord voted yes on the entry of Questers. Admittedly, Quester's relations with APOC turned brutal in regards to other votes, and it was not until the rumor that Questers would leave APOC that nations finally voted yes - with some nations abstaining, to silently voice their opposition. But, the vote for your entry received a majority vote and today I can happily write you that your nation has been accepted into the Fedala Accord.

We hope that this brings a new age of free market prosperity between our two nations and nations related to both of us, and to the Fedala Accord. In a sense, our two nations are more alike than the Second Empire with any other nation in the Fedala Accord. It will be difficult to impose a completely free market on now allied nations, since this is not really the objective of the Fedala Accord - although it would be a secondary ambition for the Second Empire - but, perhaps through underscoring our prosperity we can persuade others to follow the path of the righteous.

- His Imperial Majesty Fedor I

Communiqué to Ridingir Kisikil Dumumiapuabiak Dumuaninatumak Urukak Leshbarkingdu Kalamak Ninuru
Welcome brothers,

Our two nations have had great relations in the past, including our participation in your early civil war and your entry into the IADF. This history cannot be ignored, and it's with glee that I can write you to tell you that your nation has been unanimously accepted into the Fedala Accord. Hopefully, the Fedala Accord proves to be a much more active and long-lasting alliance than the IADF, but this should be a given due to the more active policies and such. Furthermore, I am under the belief that most members are actively looking to expand the influence of the alliance, either for personal goals or for the wellbeing of the Fedala Accord. In any case, I welcome you to the Fedala Accord.

Communiqué to Warmarshal General George Wallins
Greetings General Wallins,

This would not be the first time that Lyras and the Second Empire would interact peacefully, although it should be the first major time. Nevertheless, Lyras' reputation as a nation preceeds it. We are honored that Lyras, seemingly uninterested in large-scale alliances, would come to the Fedala Accord; it's a testament to the versatility of our membership and the uniqueness of our goals. Unfortunately, the economic policies of Lyras have brought up key issues in the debate over its entry, although the end result has been positive. We have decided to, in this case, interpret the charter as saying that barrier-free trade should suggest that a nation does not place mor barriers than it does on its own companies - so, foreign companies are not unnecessarilly mistreated, but are not favored over local companies either. There are at least two other states with unusual economic practices which are not favorable some other nations, which do do practice capitalism to its extent, but this should not impede some nations from joining. The economic aspect of the alliance is still being worked out, and its goals and ambitions as well.

That said, Lyras has been accepted into the Fedala Accord. We would all enjoy Lyras' input in the charter and section details, which are being worked out to shape the Fedala Accord's intentions - as aforementioned. Regardless, welcome!

"Order! Order! Order you lot of ninnywickets!"

The floor of the House of Commons was in an uproar as discussion upon a communications bill which proposed to tighten internet security. A large portion of the Conservatives vehemently supported the bill, while almost the entirety of the rest of the assembly was in its opposition with equal enthusiasm. A Senator from Arran rose, his hand raised. The Chairman of the Commons ordered for the Senator's microphone be turned on immediately, and such was done.

"Motion to dismiss this bill!" was his simple yet loudly proclaimed message. Almost immediately most of the assembly heard his call for a dismissal, and began offering their seconds, thirds, and one-hundred and forty-fifths.

"I do not believe a vote to dismiss is necessary," the Chairman announced, "Bill HC305b has been struck down by majority opinion."

A shout of cheers from the more liberal sides of the House drowned out the disappointed yelps from the heart of the Conservative section.

"Next we move on to Bill HC302; a motion to apply to join the Fedala Accord. The Honorable Senator Sanders, Majority Leader from Calahan, has made a motion to bring this proposal to a vote at today's session. For the sake of time constraints and to get this legislation through as quickly as possible, we shall assume that previous discussions on the bill stand and that all present in this room understand the provisions of the bill as read."

A voting timer of fifteen minutes appeared on the display screen on the west wall of the Assembly, with the tallied number of votes for, in opposition of, and abstaining from but present for the vote. Within the first five minutes of the vote there were already over fifty votes in favor and three in opposition.

Primary Director Annadale stood at the back of the room near one of the entrances from the rotunda where she leaned upon a banister which separated the seats of Senators from the rear walkway. She took note of the tally display board: two minutes remaining in the vote and over four hundred votes in favor of submitting an application to the Fedala Accord.

As the time on the digital display ticked away, the vote counter continued to increase. Finally, the time was depleted, and no motions to extend the time had been made.

"With a vote of four hundred twenty-five to seventy-three, with thirteen present abstentions and thirty-four absent abstentions, the majority has it. Bill HC302 has been approved by the Commons and will move on to the Council of Lords for confirmation."

Annadale smiled, as this particular piece of legislation had been submitted on her behalf. She expected it to quickly pass through the Council of Lords, as she had asked the Duke of the Council to bring up the issue of the Fedala Accord immediately if it passed in the Commons. It had, and with luck an application to the Accord could possibly be submitted by midnight, if not sooner.

Cravan Announces Intent to Join Fedala Accord
May 31, 2008

Early this morning the House of Commons passed a bill which has been under debate for the past month which would declare intentions for Cravan to join the Fedala Accord, an organization fathered by former NATO ally The Macabees. Soon afterwards, the Council of Lords met and immediately approved of the measure to apply. On the fairly speedy process today after almost a month of debate, Director Annadale had this to say:

"It pleases me that the legislature has managed to push this measure through in a timely fashion to allow for Cravan's international interests to best be served and expanded. The Fedala Accord is a grouping of numerous nations which the Empire has had positive relations with in the past, and nothing can be lost by applying to join their ranks."

The Department of Foreign Affairs filed a formal petition at around ten at night, Laurana time, to officially enter Cravan to the list of potential candidates to be considered for membership in the accord. No word has been received by any representative of the Accord as to whether the application has been considered further at all.

Further updates are available at the Tribune website, and the Tribune will continue to deliver updates as the story unfolds.

Out of Character

K. I'll follow the KISS method in drawing up this here out of char. section.

Parte Un

I believe I can improve my roleplay in a lot of ways. Both in some of my methods of writing and otherwise technical issues. Dialogues, monologues, internal thought, and other types of character interaction can sometimes be awkward or long and drawn out for me, but as of late I've been getting better at making these interactions much more smooth and easier to read and understand/enjoy. I mostly have these problems in environments outside of combat roleplay, for example sequences such as the first portion of the in character half of this post. Considering diplomatic and political posts make up the bulk of my roleplay, its an area I think is crucial for me to develop further and improve.

I also think I need to improve in some ways outside of actual roleplay such as technical understanding of military technology and of NS design. Although I have a fairly good basic grasp of these concepts, better knowledge into such topics would greatly aid me in roleplaying military encounters and conflicts by actually effectively understanding the ins and outs of the equipment I utilize.

These are the two major areas that come to mind... There are of course other areas where I feel I need to improve and others where there is always room to improve.

Parte Deux

OOCly I want to better integrate myself further into the NS community. Although I am still the active Primus of NATO, I want to somewhat separate my nation from the "bloc" (and, in fact, I am going to begin introducing policies in NATO to make it a more visually freestanding entity on the international stage instead of appearing to be #g's lapdog. I know it appears that way most of the time, but with the destruction of APOC I do believe the opposite bloc should effectively splinter into two easily discernable separate entities which are friendly with one another and cooperate instead of a mish-mash of states pooled together. That is to be discussed more in private with the leadership of NATO, though, but the basic idea stands.) and effectively make it a more independently standing nation on the international stage, belonging to pacts which serve its interests and contributing to them in return. I want to expand and satisfy my nation's IC interests in a way that allows me to continue to RP with the same and new groups of people.

Continuing to speak OOCly, ICly Cravan wants to do as I said above and expand its interests on the international stage. It also wants to retain ties with The Macabees, which afaik you've since left NATO, and to expand (or in the case of the first, rebuild) ties with numerous memberstates of the pact, in particular Questers, Lyras, and Sumer.

Dear Sirs,

I humblely submit this application on behalf of the Unified Republic of Morrdh for the said country to join the Fedala Accord.

Our borders have been closed for the past hundred years and Morrdh itself placed under military rule in order to contain the Animate threat that has swept through our once fair country and seemingly wiped out our former Imperial overlord, the Empire of Ruskkia. The Animate threat has now been contained and we are looking to once more open our borders to forgien trade and allow the Unified Republic to step foot upon the world stage.

Though the need for help and reasources to aid the ongoing Reclamaton efforts is one of the reasons why we wish to join, the other is that we're weary of the actions against us by would be aggressors given the fact that we're in. I hope that those reasons do not count against us joining the Fedala Accord.

I await your response'

Signed,

Edmund Vermillion

OOC:

Out of character there are a number of reasons why I wish to join;

1. The main one is to hopefully improve my writing and RP skills, mainly co's I was cr@p at English whilst at school. So being able to write stories and RP to a decent standard would be a big achivement for me in more ways than one.

2. I wish to intergrate into NS a bit more and make a number of friends, especially ones that are into role-play more than 'stat-gaming'/winning & losing (I'm a RPer outside of NS).

3. It would also me nice for Morrdh to be recongized on the NS world stage a bit more and take a more active role.

Lady Annadale holds an impromptu press conference in the lobby of the Halls of the Directorate early this morning.

Cravan Prioritizes Fedala Accord
June 1, 2008

After discussions between Cravanian officials and representatives from the Fedala Accord, the Directorate joined in an emergency session overnight to debate the priorities of the nation in private. At around seven in the morning, Laurana Time, Lady Annadale held a press conference concerning Cravanian membership in the Fedala Accord, as well as foreign relations overall.

"Following extensive internal debate in the Directorate and discussions with representatives from the Fedala Accord, Cravan's foreign interests and priorities have been rethought. I am rather sorry to say that it has been decided by the Directorate that the Empire shall pull itself from the New Alliance Treaty Organization, as per the Withdrawal Power granted to the Primary Director by the 1987 Executive Powers Act. Cravan will continue to maintain friendly relations with our closest former NATO allies, however at this point in time it has been decided that continued membership in NATO offers little to the Empire."

The Withdrawal Power of the Primary Director is most notably similar to the Withdrawal Act of Questers, used recently by Prime Minister Russell to withdraw the Questarian Empire from APOC in favor of the Fedala Accord.

Director Annadale stated that at 09:00 Laurana time Cravanian administrative staff would begin a systematic withdrawal from NATO offices, and at noon Laurana time Cravanian forces stationed in NATO nations worldwide where there were no pre-arranged basing right agreements would begin systematic withdrawals. Annadale also stated that any NATO nations with forces in Cravanian territory without pre-arranged basing right agreements would be asked to begin to vacate their premises as soon as possible, with a tentative deadline set for midnight.

Sir Rensford was unavailable for comment following the announcement from Annadale's government.

When asked about other possible foreign affairs reprioritization, Lady Annadale declined to comment. At the opening of today's session of the House of Commons, however, Conservative Leader of the Opposition Daniel Tenett proposed a bill to petition for membership in the Kingston Pact. No further information on the performance of the proposal is available at this point in time.

Communiqué to Sir Leroy Webbings
Welcome to the Fedala Accords!

As you can assume, the General Assembly has supported the entry of the Kingdom of Cravan into the Fedala Accord overwhelmingly. Of course, this decision was made much easier due to the kingdom's decision to retire from the New Alliance Treaty Organization [NATO] and the public decision to prioritize entry into the Fedala Accord, and consequent membership. Regardless, Cravan can officially consider itself a member of the accords, and we humbly suggest that sends a permanent representative to ongoing talks (http://s1.zetaboards.com/Fedala) at the Fedala Accord 'headquarters'. We hope that this eagerness to join the accords translates into motivation to partake in its politics.

Best wishes,

- His Imperial Majesty Fedor I

Communiqué to Edmund Vermillion
Greetings!

Thank you for your application, and it's quite nice to see applicants from nations that we have not had major foreign relations with - we mean this in the best of terms, of course. We hope that the Fedala Accord continue to spread amongst 'smaller' nations, less likely to choose loyalties based on past dealings with other nations. According to voting, which unfortunately has been less active in your case, the nation of Morrdh has been granted membership to the Fedala Accords. One nation abstained due to the lack of relations with Morrdh, and thus information. Two nations voted a resound yes, and one a minor agreement. The rest did not vote. In any case, welcome to the alliance and we suggest to send an active representative to the relevant talks (http://s1.zetaboards.com/fedala).

Congratulations,

- His Imperial Majesty Fedor I

[Morrdh/OOC: Understandably, most of us don't like to role-play with zombies and the such. We are in no way limiting what you can role-play, but many of us will be weary to join those types of role-plays. I'm fine with it, but others may not be. This should be taken into consideration.]

"Well, Laurana has presented us a quandary, Mr. Prime Minister. Rensford's attempt at softening the abysmal public perception of the organisation failed and so, smartly, they withdrew. We are stuck supporting an organisation seen as nothing more than a puppet of Gholgoth—and I need not remind us all of the public's perception of that regional alliance."

Rodney Ingrahm looked down the long, polished table and watched the various ministers nod and mutter their agreement. His Foreign Secretary had simply voiced what was perhaps the Government's worst-kept secret, membership in NATO eroded both local and global respect for the United Kingdom as a state committed to promoting and defending liberal democracies.

"Sir, if I may," the voice of the Defence Secretary brought the mutterings to a quiet after which he continued. "Sir, we should also bear in mind that at this moment, the bulk of the Oceanian Army ready for deployment abroad is stationed in Carpanthium and other pieces of Cravanin real estate in Haven. All of this was done after the first war to be ready to provide a continuous force presence in theatre. Our strategies and tactics largely focused upon defeating the Questarians should they ever attempt to violate Cravanian sovereignty. With that issue seemingly resolved, sir, we have no need to base hundreds of thousands of troops in Haven."

"Not to mention, sir," the Foreign Secretary added, "with Laurana out, we shall be required to relocate our forces currently in Cravanian territory."

Ingrahm turned to the First Lord of the Admiralty, the civilian head of the Royal Navy, "and you, Radovan?"

A former submariner who was short in stature and angular in the face, Radovan Noskovic was also the highest Novikovian in the Oceanian government. "We helped to effect the closure of the Strob during the War, sir, and we could only have done so with the help of the Cravanians—not to mention the other few participatory nations. But amongst our allies in NATO, sir, we shed the most blood alongside the Cravanians and I think Quentin shall agree. But with the Questarians now upon their side, there really is no reason for us to maintain a presence in Haven unless specifically asked by Annadale."

An older man with greying hair leaned forward. Thomas Cahill had lived in the various colonies of the UK throughout much of his life and after being ennobled as Viscount Cahill, he had moved from being a royal governor in the Salisbury government to a peer whose experience was greatly valued in the Ingrahm government. "Mr. Prime Minister, it seems readily apparent that ultimately Oceanian forces will be withdrawn from Haven as there is no longer any politically palatable reason to keep them there. Given the recent, shall we say disturbances, in a select few of our colonial possessions, it may well be to our advantage to reinforce our imperial garrisons. If we decide upon such a course of action, this Fedala Accord has several states that may well be sympathetic to our need to stabilise the outlying regions of the Empire. The Yaforites, if I am correct, belong to the organisation and membership would only formalise the relationship we are forging with that state given our respective situations in Sarnia."

"About Sarnia, sir," Quentin Sterling, the Defence Secretary, interjected, "if we might discuss briefly the proposal for transferring—"

Ingrahm shook his head, "Quentin, our meeting is schedule for," he turned to his personal assistant standing quietly against the wall with datebook in hand.

"16:30, sir."

"Yes, 16:30, Quentin. I believe that we can wait until then to discuss whatever it is you find so urgent. And to the rest of you, we seem to be in broad agreement that the latest moves by Cravan will result in a broad redeployment of our armed forces. However, that was not why I invited you all here today."

There was a small amount of light-hearted chuckling, with a tinge of nervousness attached, that died out before Ingrahm continued.

"We are here to discuss the proposal that we join the Fedala Accord and retire from NATO." As a slight chorus of discontent swelled, Ingrahm let a rare smile slip through his usually stoic expressions. "Please, ladies and gentlemen, speak a little louder so we all may here."

"There is no Article VI." Radovan Noskovic stated, rather loudly but also clearly and with a sense of finality. "We have two organisations, with seemingly two different purposes. NATO is, first and foremost, an organisation of military powers who have banded together to promote a common defence. An attack upon one is an attack upon all. Fedala is largely more concerned with trade and the promotion of security through creating an alliance where all have their interests bound with others. By including our former enemies, we are more likely to talk before shooting. But, sir, in this world, too many people are too often likely to start shooting. And I see nowhere in the Fedala charter that members would be obliged to come to our assistance should some third party decide to instigate some conflict."

Ingrahm nodded and folded his hands upon the tabletop as several members of the cabinet murmured their agreement with Noskovic. "And your position, Quentin?"

"Whilst Radovan and I frequently engage in oratorical debates, sir, in this issue I think it fair to say we are largely in agreement. Membership in Fedala does a great deal for promoting peace through responsibility and diplomacy. However, with all due respect to Gavin and his portfolio, diplomacy is not always the best policy."

The table laughed politely, all knowing full well that the Defence Secretary and First Lord almost always took positions at the polar opposite ends of any issue. The Foreign Secretary, Gavin Astley, however, furrowed his brows.

"But, ministers, consider this. If we do join Fedala—and I think membership in this organisation more than NATO speaks to our commitment to classic liberalism and democratic principles—retaining membership in NATO highlights our Government as a government of hypocrisy. Fedala attempts to eschew traditional bloc politics and here we would be, maintaining loyalty to one of the more important blocs."

"But, Gavin," Noskovic countered, "can't you see that that's exactly what our enemies may want? Join Fedala and secure unfettered access to some of the largest markets and producers in the world. Then, attack fellow members or allies and they're obligated to do nothing but defend the trade routes."

"That is a bit extreme, Radovan," Ingrahm chided, weighing in upon the issue. "While that may be the letter of the law, at least according to the charter we have seen, I daresay that any organisation with any interest in self-preservation would never let just such a situation develop."

"Perhaps, sir, but the fact is that such a situation could never exist within NATO, where our security is paramount."

The room broke out into a small chant of "here, here" amongst those in agreement with Noskovic. Ingrahm took a quick look around the table and watched the reactions of the various ministers to Noskovic's argument. He then offered a sidelong look at Astley, who sat visibly disquieted. "I think that after the past forty minutes we have all heard enough of both sides of the argument and I think it time we vote on the issue. Should we present to the House of Commons a measure where we resign from NATO and petition for membership in Fedala, keep our seat in NATO and not petition for membership in Fedala, or thirdly, keep our seat in NATO and petition for membership in Fedala?"

Ingrahm caught a sharp eye from Astley and a more quizzical look from Cahill before continuing. "The secretary shall record each of us and our preference starting to my right with the Foreign Secretary."

Person by person, Ingrahm watched the secretary take down the names and positions. Some, like Astley and Cahill were firmly on the side of resigning from NATO and joining Fedala. They had long been unhappy with the perception of harsh and draconian measures taken by select members of NATO that were striking in their contrast to the stated aims of the Government. Surprisingly, the Chancellor of the Exchequer voted for the option as well despite the undercurrent of competition between the top two persons in the Government. Next the Lord Chancellor, then the Lord President of the Council, both women who tended to vote together on major issues. There were also no surprises in the more liberal persons in the cabinet voting for the first measure: the Secretary of State for Environmental Affairs, the Secretary of State for Arts and Culture, and then the Secretary of State for Education. The latter two ministers, both Novikovian, also surely kept in mind their former nation's close ties to Fedala before the war.

The second option, that of remaining squarely in NATO, belonged to the hawks in the Government. Noskovic and Sterling led the smaller group mostly compromised of those ministers whose portfolios placed them in areas where security was a crucial issue: the four secretaries of state for Juristan, the Indian Islands, Kingsland, and Azazia.

And lastly the third option, for staying in NATO and petitioning to join the Fedala Accord. As the secretary went round the room, Ingrahm took care to note where each cabinet member stood and keep a running tally of the vote. Here he saw the usual ministers of compromise, those tasked with passing Government bills in the two chambers and so it did not shock Ingrahm to see the Leader of the House of Commons vote in favour and then the Leader of the House of Lords. The Home Secretary, Callum McConnell, was a quiet surprise—Ingrahm had expected him to vote with Noskovic and Sterling. Perhaps his vote was indicative of something new? Arthur King-Calabrius, the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry was no surprise, voting in favour of increased trade. Then came the Lord Privy Seal and the Sport and Recreation Secretary—no real surprises as men of compromise—and lastly to the Secretary of State for Novikov, Nikolai Ulyanov, who voted surely because NATO offered security guarantees to his new-found state while Fedala was home to the traditional ally of Novikov.

Quickly, Ingrahm counted up the hatches. He did the quick math, eight for Option 1, six for Option 2 and seven for Option 3. A divided cabinet. As the secretary asked for his vote, he looked down the table. With his steely, grey eyes he looked across the faces and the names. He saw their calculations, their ambitions. He saw the opportunities and the looming disasters of a man running a coalition government.

"Rodney Ingrahm, First Lord of the Treasury, votes in favour of Option 3."

The room quietly mumbled as those ministers who had taken their own tallies started to count the numbers before the secretary shushed the room. "Six ministers voted in favour of Option 2. Eight ministers in favour of Option 1. And eight ministers in favour of Option 3. Mr. Prime Minister, there is no clear consensus."

"Thank you, Rose." Ingrahm cleared his throat and quieted the room that had so quickly fallen into discord. "Ladies and gentlemen, as there has been no definitive vote, and looking upon the time, I propose a forty-five minute recess after which we shall reconvene in this room and take a vote upon the two options that received the greatest share of the vote: Option 1 and Option 3."

Rather quickly, the ministers filtered out to the banquet room down the hall where sandwiches, soups, and small pastry snacks had been prepared for what had been expected to be a post-vote luncheon.

"Not quite as planned, Rodney, no?"

Ingrahm turned to face Astley, standing behind his chair and folding his charcoal-grey suit coat over his arm. The Foreign Secretary simply shook his head as he pushed the chair back in. "I thought you were with us, Rodney. Is this not what we ran for all those months ago? I still cannot fathom why Salisbury entangled us in this NATO mess—and that some people in this room still want to play a role in the alliance after all we have lost. It is truly beyond me. And what was this Option 3 business all about? We never discussed that last night."

Picking up his glass of water, Ingrahm paused before replying and allowed himself a quiet sip to quench his parched throat. "I know, Gavin. I know all of this. However, yesterday Option 1 was all but guaranteed. Noskovic, despite all his bluntness, can still be charismatic with that gruff and gritty demeanor of his. And he was today. The longer we discussed the issue, the more were falling into his camp. Now I cannot say how many of those who voted for Option 3 would have sided with him—but that I had to even question it signaled to me that something else was needed. Hence, Option 3."

"A compromise, Rodney. We are selling short our ideals for a compromise."

"Yes, but we need his party in the coalition. And while I doubt this is an issue over which Suzvuk would break allegiance, I would rather keep them on our side for as long as possible."

Astley shook his head. "You simply gave them confidence. Now they know, or at least can sense, the weakness in the coalition. They can lord their participation in the Government over us to achieve what they want while we pick up scraps from the table like begging dogs."

"Not quite. They are alienated from Borovic and Salisbury and have nowhere else to go."

"Unless the rumours are true."

In recent weeks, whispers from the corridors of Parliament House indicated that the rift paralysing the Democratic Socialists, still reeling from their tremendous electoral loss months ago, could result in the party splitting in two. Those who favoured Salisbury's free-market economic policies and policy of active imperialism resented the new-found confidence in the old-party establishment favouring interventionist policies and re-nationalisation of key industries and companies. It was all still rumour and counter-rumour, but it was something Ingrahm, Astley, and others were taking seriously. If old-party Democratic Socialists split and united with the Greens and the various socialist parties in Novikov, it could begin to form a threat to the Tory-led alliance currently in power.

"Even if they are true, I highly doubt Noskovic and company would trade the large share they have in our government for what would be a weaker share in a Salisbury-led government. We simply need to offer them enough of what they truly want on matters of importance, like this issue, to keep them on our side in the Commons. If it means making a compromise deal, staying in NATO and still joining Fedala—so be it."

"This is all assuming that Fedala would have us while a member of NATO."

Ingrahm nodded, having to face the cold realisation of the point he had secretly hoped to avoid. Simply petitioning to join the organisation did not necessarily translate into being accepted into the organisation. "I do think that the constituent members of the Accord are familiar with our long-standing principles of foreign policy. How often have we been derided or ridiculed for straining so hard to achieve peace before a conflict. We are a nation not of shopkeepers, but bankers, financiers, insurers and alike. We are not an army with a nation behind us. I should like to think that the various states in the organisation know this."

"Just because you hope for something does not mean you shall have it, Rodney. Have you considered what would happen if our application were to be denied?"

Ingrahm nodded rather somberly. "It is certainly a significant amount of wasted political capital. We endanger our good-standing in NATO, fail to acquire new markets, and potentially lose the respect of those nations of the Accord whose respect it has taken years to earn."

"Is it worth risking all that?"

Fusion Café, King's College
Sherbourne, Sherbourneshire, United Kingdom

"Did you see this?" Adam McKenzie slapped the free college daily down upon the circular, aluminium tabletop outside the liberal arts college's busiest coffeehouse. At twenty years of age, McKenzie was a sophomore studying for a degree in history with a minor in Pacitalian Studies. He scratched his unkempt beard and put his paper cup down upon the table, the brown insulating sleeve of recycled paper stained with the boiling water the barista had sloppily dispensed.

"What is it?" Across from him, sipping a foam-topped cappuccino from the Starbucks across the street, sat Lisa Donahue, McKenzie's girlfriend from just down the coast in Malton where she worked as a volunteer for a non-profit group dedicated to preserving civil liberties. The two tried to meet every Friday before McKenzie's classes started at 11:30 as she worked in the small office in Sherbourne—the two having met at a fundraising party several months ago.

"Ingrahm and his cronies managed to pass this piece of rubbish." He handed the paper over to his girlfriend, who scanned the illegible text through her glasses, brand-name designer with thick, black plastic frames to accentuate her pale blue eyes.

"So we'll buy weapons from the one to defend the other against the first. How bloody-well typical," Donahue said with a sigh, replacing the paper on the table. "They just gave in to Salisbury's legacy, once again. Why the hell did we vote for them in the first place?"

"They promised to be different," McKenzie deadpanned with a wry smile. He threw his unbleached bag of rooibos tea into a small container placed on the table for that purpose.

"Well they certainly are," Donahue added, flipping to the stories on the bottom side of the fold. "They also voted to slash public funding for the high-speed link between Darlington and Tavistock. Uly-whatever, the Transport Secretary, said, get this, 'the government wishes to encourage the support of the public by asking for private partnerships…' in other words the thing will be affordable to the bankers in Darlington, but not the factory-workers in Tavistock. How bloody-well typical."

Throughout much of the United Kingdom, the day after the bill passed the House of Commons, the sentiment was the same. Several small-scale protests erupted in university towns like Sherbourne, Ostend, Cranbourne, and Ridley while much of the public simply turned the page, or the channel, or clicked to their Myspace/Facebook account. That the bill passed with a large majority, 721–224–55 (ayes, nays, abstentions), signified to many that the passage had been assured and that all that was left was to draft some formal words to present to the Accord proper.

Communiqué to His Imperial Majesty Fedor I

His Majesty's Government welcomes the efforts of the Fedala Accord to promote peace and prosperity through economic development, a cornerstone principle of Oceanian foreign policy. In recent months, the world was all but paralysed from the fear of open conflict between members of NATO and APOC. This geopolitical stalemate serves only to highlight the necessity for a means of increasing the economic dependence of all major parties of both organisations upon others. And it is the conclusion of HM Government that as the Fedala Accord provides the best means of accomplishing that objective, HM Government formally petitions the Fedala Accord for full membership into the organisation, with all the rights and responsibilities said membership entails.

As an organisation committed to the defence of global free trade, the United Kingdom offers not just the Royal Navy, whose valour and courage are well known, but the whole of the Oceanian Armed Forces, including the Royal Air Force for long-range patrols of vital sea lanes and the Oceanian Army for those unthinkable moments in the future when the defence of free trade may well require boots upon terra firma.

Economically, the United Kingdom enjoys a vibrant economy with healthy growth, low inflation, and low unemployment. Many Oceanian firms already have assets in foreign states and invest capital in the development of foreign infrastructure—something that will surely occur only more frequently if the United Kingdom is accepted into the Accord.

If the initial petition meets with the favour of the governing powers of the Accord, HM Government is prepared to send a delegation to discuss the details of full and complete membership and negotiate over points of contention.

OOC Business

Where would I like to improve?
Ideally, everywhere. Having been tremendously busy the last two years the time I could devote to writing waned significantly and consequently I feel rusty, so to speak. More specifically, providing different voices to different characters is tremendously difficult and something I would like to do more of in the future. Similarly, I should like to improve upon my ability to provide concrete imagery to let people 'see' what I envision in my cluttered head. Then again, perhaps that is not the best idea…

What am I looking for?
As stated at the top, I am looking to enjoy writing what is, essentially escapist fiction. No longer being at university (i.e. without real responsibility), I do not have the time I did in the past to become so engrossed in NS. And so when I do have time, I should like it to be more fulfilling and not full of OOC bickering and bitching—though admittedly I missed a great deal of this. It is fun learning about things which I have an amateur interest in, primarily politics and military-related affairs and the people I see joining thus far, so far as I know, have experience and interests in those same areas.

Regarding the IC business, I attempted to address that all strictly in an IC fashion—but if something is not clear, I shall gladly make myself available to elucidate my positions and reasonings.

Communiqué to Mr. George R., Prime Minister Ingrahm and Minister Gavin Astley
Greetings,

The reputation of Azazia preceeds it, as a powerful kingdom, built on both diplomacy and war. This would not be the first time the Second Empire's fate crosses with that of the United Kingdom. Many years ago we were near-belligerents, as the United Kingdom occupied one of our allies - Novikov -, then part of the IADF. However, the stabilization of our relationship, especially due to the Second Empire's entry into the New Alliance Treaty Organization sometime before the War of Golden Succession, has given us a new perspective on the United Kingdom. I am sure that this felt vice versa, as well. Although perhaps the Second Empire and the United Kingdom's relationship did not become as close as it could have, at least the degree of animosity over the subjugation of an old ally has smoothed over. We have learned to respect and during our tenure in NATO we honored our alliance. In any case, I am glad that Azazia has put in an application for the Fedala Accords.

Although not our member states voted, whether due to lack of time or unawareness of the voting, the United Kingdom has been passed into the Fedala Accord with seven yes' and one abstain . With this vote, I'd like to personally invite a representative of the United Kingdom to partake in current happenings within the accords (http://s1.zetaboards.com/fedala). Since we are relatively new, the first steps of organizing the government and ironing out the charter are taking place. This would be a great time for the input of the United Kingdom, before things are made 'official'.

In regards to the use of the Royal Navy to patrol trade routes, we feel that if the United Kingdom wishes to do so in local waters this is fine. However, the patrolling of world wide patrol routes would be difficult. In the case of an attack it is more likely that we as an alliance come together to free said trade routes from the thread, even if we must go to the belligerent nation and make sure the government is subdued to the point where it would no longer be considered such a threat. However, we are an overall peaceful alliance and prefer words over powder. That said, we hope that nobody mistakes diplomacy as weakness.

In any case, welcome!

IC:

Office of the Hegemon, Sumguaia:

Dr. Frank Booker, Foreign Minister of the Holy Empire, walked down a hallway in the office building that made up the center of the administrative branch of the government of the Holy Empire. He glanced out a window as he walked, noticing that it was raining rather heavily outside. How could I have not noticed an opportunity like this until now? He thought, silently cursing himself as he walked impatiently towards the Hegemon's office. As he walked, a young secretary approached him.

"Sir, a moment of your time?" The man, who looked to be in his early twenties asked meekly.

"Yes, what is it?" Booker asked impatiently, half-glaring as he turned to address the man. "Make it quick, I'm very busy."

"Yes sir, sorry sir." The boy replied nervously, looking at Booker over a stack of papers in wide-eyed fear as he realized who he was speaking to. "Do you um, know where the treasurer's office is?"

"Head down this hallway and take a left, his office is the second on the right." Booker replied shortly, pointing in the correct direction.

"Th-thank you sir." The secretary stuttered, and began to walk in the direction Booker had pointed.

"Wait a moment." The Foreign Minister called. The secretary turned around, careful not to drop any of the papers from his stack.

"Yes sir?" He asked. He would have started shifting his feet but for the destabilizing effect it would have had upon the papers in his hands.

"Are you new here?" Booker asked, his tone gentler now.

"Y-yes sir."

"Hmm, and what do you think of the place? Be honest, if there is one thing I hate its a suck-up."

"Things seem a lot more rushed around here than where I used to work, sir." The boy replied, smiling nervously. "I've been on my toes constantly since I started."

"You will have to get used to the pace I'm afraid." Booker replied, something that vaguely resembled a smile now on his face. "We run a nation and an alliance here, there's always work to be done and more than enough to go around. How long did you say you've been working here?"

"Um, I didn't sir." The secretary replied, still looking nervous. "I've been here since last monday."

"Have you? It's quite a feat to have made it this long. If you managed the first week you will most likely do fine. Keep up the good work." Booker grinned. "You'd best get along now, its not good to keep the treasurer's staff waiting."

"Oh! Right!" the secretary nearly shouted, turning and hurrying off down the hall. He said I was doing a good job! He thought, pride welling up inside of him. Dr. Frank Booker said I was doing a good job!

Dr. Booker turned around and continued walking, chuckling to himself. moments later, He arrived at the Hegemon's office.

The Hegemon was not in his usual position seated at his desk. instead he was standing before a pair of french doors behind his desk, watching the rainstorm outside. "Oh, hello Frank." He said, looking around as the Foreign Minister closed the door for only a moment before returning his attention to the rain beating against the glass of the doors.

"Can you feel it, Frank?" Lord Sumguy asked, not removing his gaze from the rain outside as Dr. Booker sat down. "The air is thick with it, a sense that something is going to happen soon. Something evil."

For a long moment there was silence, the Hegemon watching the rain as Dr. Booker shifted nervously in his seat. After nearly a minute Lord Sumguy turned around.

"So, what is it you wish to speak to me about?" He asked walking to his desk and sitting down.

"An opportunity for us, sir." Booker said, happy for the change of subject as he handed a small stack of papers over. "An alliance of sorts known as the Fedela Accord. I think we should join it. Not only would it open up markets from these nations to us, but just look at who are members. In co-operation with nations such as these we can enact a great amount of good in this world. I know you don’t wish to bow to any alliance, lest the Hegemony become merely a pawn of another larger organization, but I feel that the potential benifit from joining the Fedela Accords far outweighs any such risk."

There was more silence as the Hegemon read the papers Booker had just given him. after several minutes he looked up.

"I see." he said, his expression unreadable. "I find nothing to object to within the charter, what information you have given me regarding this alliance and it's activities gives me nothing to dislike, and I agree that friendship and co-operation with most of these nations would not be unwelcome. Very well, I shall send a message requesting the Holy Empire's membership."

"Thank you, sir." Booker said. "Now, I have some questions to ask you about our future relations with LION and what sort we would like them to be."

"Of course." The Hegemon replied, leaning back. "Ask away."

With that the two began discussing various matters of international politics.

Official Diplomatic Communique:

To: His Imperial Majesty Fedor I
From: Lord Sumguy

Your esteemed majesty,

I do hereby extend upon the part of this Holy Empire an application to join the ranks of the Fedela Accord. We accept the charter and all the terms within, finding fault with none. We believe that an organization such as this, with the noble goals that it seeks to accomplish, to be a godsend and beacon of hope in the dark times this world now experiences, and pledge our full support to its endeavors to promote peace and freedom of trade throughout the globe.

Lord Sumguy,

Where would I like to improve?
I seek mostly to improve in the area of warfare, especially in naval warfare. Unfortunately at the moment I find myself rather ignorant of both weapons and tactics used in modern warfare, and this has somewhat handicapped me. I also wish to make my characters seem more human and believable, as character RP is by far my favorite form. There is of course a desire to improve all-around, but those are the two areas that I seek to become better in most.

What am I looking for?
I am looking for other RP'ers with which I may write and not have to try and compete against, but rather co-operate with to create a good story and learn from to improve my own writing ability. I feel that I can learn much form the nations in this alliance, and hope to do so if accepted.

Official Communique of the Diamid of Gahrodanth

The Gahrodanthi Government has surveyed the charter, actions, and members of the Fedala Accord, and has found it a suitable platform for the recurrence of major Gahrodanthi diplomatic and military actions to permeate throughout the world once again. A once proud member of the Legion of Defense, our nation was instrumental in the establishment of a well-revised charter as well as pulling protectorate power together into a cohesive unit when necessary. As our nation grew into a protector, we offered and sent military, financial and disaster aid to many nations of the world. After a period of diplomatic and military decline (OOC: left NS), we feel compelled once again to spread the wealth and positive influence of our nation across all boundaries and boarders by any peaceable means. By admitting our nation into this Accord, we feel that you would be gaining a powerful military and economical ally, and we feel that we would be gaining admittance into a prestigious organization that is not only worthy of our admittance, but also honorable in intentions as was the now defunct Legion of Defense.

Communiqué to Diamid of Gahrodanth

We're grateful of the time and interest put towards the Fedala Accords, and your appeal for membership has been presented to the general assembly and carefully calculated. We hope that it is considered good news that the vote passed with five nations voting in favor, and the rest of the membership refraining to vote. The goals and ambitions of your nation are just and, for the most part, see eye to eye with those of nations in the Fedala Accord - especially the goal to expand wealth through free and healthy trade. It was because of these qualities, and the age of your nation and how known it is throughout the world, that your nation was easily admitted into the alliance.

We hope that this is the beginning of a long and fruitful cooperation through the Fedala Accord. You main send a representative to the general assembly (http://s1.zetaboards.com/Fedala/index/) when needed.

Thank you for your time and patience,

I have come a long way from ever since I posted for the very first time in the International Incidents. I admire most members of the Fedala Accord because of their writing skills and I believe I can further improve my RPing skills. More then anything, I want to become a decent writer and I want to improve the way I illustrate people.

IC Reason: Well, my nation is always looking for allies to trade with, and Greal wants to leap itself onto world stage even more. And, Greal is always on the lookout for joining other alliances, since we're only in one. Unofficially, Greal wants to join since some of its fellow regional members are in the Fedala Accord.

OOC Reason: Well, I am looking for a group of successfully RP with, and the Accord has many members who I hold in high respect.

The Tocrowkian Reich, after due consideration, wishes to apply for membership of the Fedala Accord. We have been through an extensive period of social and political isolation from the outside world and we believe that joining the Accord will be a tremendous step back into regaining our former, or perhaps even greater status than we had before.

-Reich Foreign Ministry-

((OOC Section/Reason:

My main out of character reason for wishing to join is primarily as others before me have mentioned, the desire to develop and better my self as a role-player and a writer. Through out my history on NS I think you can see a very big shift over the months and years, as with many people all ready in this alliance. And another reason for wanting to join is, however typical and cliche' it may sound is I have a great amount of respect for many of the members of the Fedala Accord and it would be my honor to be able to work with them, both in character and out of character.

I have of course made a few mistakes during my time here. I've had not one, but two revolutions that I should have RPed but rather was content to simply write them off as a one paragraph post. And several random and seemingly silly posts such as describing a Special-Forces raid on a mayonnaise factory. This mainly results from my one main "fault" as a role player and a writer, which is impatience. However I hope you can look past this and allow me the opportunity to better my self. Also, the only reason I haven't bothered to type out a lengthy IC post for this application is a lack of time. If you so wish it, I would be happy to write one.))

IC Reason:

As I mentioned, my nation has experienced an extensive period of isolationism from the outside world and I believe that by joining the Fedala Accord, with so many equally as large or even larger nations than my own it will be a stepping stone to becoming successfully re-established in the nation states community. In the past Tocrowkia has all ways been a member of one alliance or another, and I'd like to continue that trend by joining the Fedala Accord!

Wanderjar
06-10-2008, 16:14
October 6th, Warsaw, Wanderjar
Foreign Affairs Committee, Revolutionary Havenic People’s Congress

Mr. Edwards, Minister of Parliament and a leader in the Foreign Affairs Committee, stood at the podium before his colleagues. Each of them, finely dressed, intellectual men of various ages, sat in seats reflecting the designation of their constituency district. Edwards had been in the Revolutionary Congress since the beginning, ever since the Wanderjarian people revolted against the Fascists and deposed their tyrannical leader Tobias Kircher several years ago. This was a black stain in Wanderjarian history, but it had ended. In the aftermath, he had been one of the founding members of the Revolutionary Havenic People’s Congress, and was a proud member of the Wanderjarian Social Libertarian Party. This day, he was presenting legislation of extreme importance to the international future of Wanderjar: to request entry into the Fedala Accords. Having been suggested by their closest allies, the TPFians, the government of Wanderjar now took this possibility seriously, reviewing the motives behind the Agreement, its aims, and Wanderjar’s possible place within it. After speaking for nearly two hours on the benefits of Wanderjarian entry, he stood awaiting a response.
“Would the Committee come to a vote?” The Chairman asked, looking across the expanse of the room. “All “Ayes”, move to the right of the room, and “Nays” to the left.” With that, several dozen men stood and repositioned themselves across the room. Mr. Edwards hoped against hope that the committee would see reason and vote in favor. There was so much potential…He opened his eyes. All members sat to the right, save one. He looked inquisitively at the man, with a large smile on his face.

“I fear,” the man said, “That there are no more seats on the right.” The chamber erupted in uproarious laughter, and Mr. Edwards heaved a sigh of relief. The proposal would move into the Main Chamber. As it did, the legislation met with the entirety of Congress with little scrutiny save for opportunistic questions, chiefly involving what Wanderjar’s benefit for being a member state involved. These were not derogatory or bipartisan questions though, merely curious. Edwards felt that the Congressmen were convinced to vote in its favor before they even entered the chamber. That is not to say, however, that all Wanderjarians were in favor. There were a small number of isolationists who feared that the Wanderjarian Republic would benefit to dismantle its expansive global Empire (Termed “The Commonwealth”) and return to within its own borders, but the majority felt that Wanderjar was taking the right path. They voted two thousand in favor, one hundred and five against. After nearly a month of interested query, contemplation, recess, and committee review, it would pass.

As he retired that night, Edwards celebrated with his fellows in the Congressional Dining Hall. Champagne, cigars, and merry carousal encompassed the night. The following day, Mr. Edwards found, he had to draft the formal request for entry. He decided he would begin stating why he felt that the Fedala Accords would be to the benefit of the Wanderjarian people and nation. He would then describe what he felt that the Wanderjarian State could bring to the Accords. He worked for the better part of the week drafting a response (the points of which had been pre-agreed upon by the Foreign Affairs Committee), and upon its completion, sent it forth.

Like so many alliances, cooperative pacts, and agreements, we, the Wanderjarian people approach this with a degree of scrutiny. Many organizations have grandoise dreams and hopes, yet never truly meet their own expectations for greatness, somewhere along in their life time slipping or even succombing to the very ills they seek to rectify. The Fedala Accords, from what we have gathered, seek to open free trade between an array of nations, promote international peace, and help nations become stronger both politically, economically, and one could argue culturally. This is an undertaking, but does the membership believe it is achieveable where so many others, such as the Global Alliance of Sovereign Nations, had failed?

We believe, nay, we know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that it can. The member states are of the highest caliber, their leadership noble and just, and their people elegant and grand. We are convinced, believing ourselves to be to this pedigree, that we would do well to join with you in this undertaking.

Now then, on to business. What do we feel Wanderjar could gain from being a signatory to this agreement? Well there are several possible responses to this. First among them: Trade. Free trade amongst nations has never hurt anyone. It can only make the economic, as well as political, ties between the signatories greater, and in so doing make the bond of friendship ever tighter and more unbreakable. Second: Mutual Defense. When nations have mutual economic interests, it becomes necessary and proper to cooperate to defend those. Should any signatory of this pact be aggressively attacked, the enemy is, indirectly, attacking us by hindering our economic endeavours. We believe it is only natural to engage in conflict at this point, and we would willingly and gladly support any nation. How does this benefit us, though? The answer is simple and as such I shall make the answer concise: it is mutual. If a nation attacked us, we would hope for the same respect given by us to any other signatory nation. The Wanderjarian Homeland has never been attacked, and hopefully never shall, but perhaps there shall come a day where we need to be supported, and will look to the signatories of the Fedala Accords to fill this need and hope. Thirdly, and finally, there is respect. Respect amongst men is what makes men great. A man who is not respected may as well never have lived for he exists for nothing. Nations function in much the same way. If Wanderjar is not respected and esteemed, why should it exist? Does it not hold its freedoms to be dear, its protection over its allies staunch, and the might of its economy to be among the best? Indeed it does, but should no nation look upon it favorably then it is all a facade, one which is as false as the myth's of ancient lore.

Now that we have made our case for why we feel it is in Wanderjar's interest to join in and sign this agreement, we suppose it would only be proper for us, in the interest of national pride, to state why it would be to the Accord's interest to allow us to enter into the accords.

We shall begin by reiterating our promise to provide, to the fullest extent required, our military might behind our friends in any situation. No enemy is too strong, no foe too intimidating, or mission too difficult for a Wanderjarian. We fear no man, nor do we shy away from challenge, nay we seek it as an obstacle to overcome on the road to achieving glory. The Accords have our military behind their every want and need. Secondly, our economy is strong, growing, and ever expanding. We hope to only improve this through extended cooperation with the signatory states. The majority of membership have had some dealing with the Wanderjarian State in the past, and we look with the utmost respect to each. We know that they too, are economically sound nations which we would benefit from trading from as well as they. I again return to my previously mentioned statement of mutually beneficial trade. Through these two benefits to the Fedala Accords, Wanderjarian request for admittance should not be taken lightly, as we did not take the Charter lightly.

OOC:

Well that took the better part of the morning! Now that you have my IC reasons for joining, I will give my out of character reasons. I wish to develop myself as a role player and writer, and become better than I am. God knows I could use improvement, but again, who can't? I feel that in terms of military analysis and such I am rather adept, but could use unmentionable levels of help when it comes to standard conversation, political RPing in a Congressional Arena, or even international relations writing. Here, I believe, I could get better experiance with that, through writing with some of the best.

Now for some examples of myself RPing...there are many but I believe the ones I will show are the Chitzi Wars (Thread 1 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=477031), and thread 2 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=477731)) The Iron Heel (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=13485631) (A failed, two post RP I had planned to do showing the rise of the Fascists in Wanderjar...I was unable to finish it though with numerous school-related time issues. I still feel that it was good/decent writing on my part and worth mentioning). Those are the only two I have immediate links for, without having to do hours of searching for. I'll gladly do it if you all would like, but as a personal, and I assume understandible preference, I would rather not.

I do not have IRC, and thougn Andy/TPF has tried time and time again to get me on it and teach me how, I've failed miserably every time. Mac, if you would like to get in touch with me on MSN, that would be lovely.

Cheers all,

Lamoni
15-10-2008, 05:17
Presidential Palace, Nephi, Lamoni

President Stinson finally had to get out of his chair and stretch. The improving economy was always good news. Let's face it..., he thought, a 57% tax rate is always better than a 100% tax rate; but I bet that we can get it lower.

It had taken years and some fairly intense battles with both Congress and the Chamber of Deputies in order for the President to get the tax rate to be THAT low, but he still wanted the tax rate down to 35% or less. Based on the evidence that was now accumulating as the Lamonian tax rate went down, the economy was improving. Many economists thought that the economy would improve a lot more if the tax rate were to drop further, even if it was an uphill battle with that branch of the government that was in charge of the governmental budget.

Pork barrel projects had been the first things to get axed from the budget, and that alone had produced some truly massive bureaucratic fights between the President and the legislature. Though supported by a majority of the Lamonian people, President Stinson had had to spend considerable political capitol in order to get this much accomplished.

Many of these politicians were many generations removed from the refugee status that those who had founded Lamoni had been under. Their own forefathers would be massively ashamed of them; and yet, this didn't matter to the politicians in the slightest. There was even a new political party forming that had restoring the 100% tax rate as it's top priority! All that the President could do about that was to shake his head and mumble at the stupidity that such a political party represented.

In the meantime, Lamonian military spending on new weapons was reaching an all time high, with purchases from Lyras, Dartia, Yanitaria, and Third Spanish States. Satellites purchased from Dartia both protected the Free Republic in space, as well as let them communicate more efficiently than the old Lamonian built communications satellites that had been used previously. Lamoni also had God Rod satellites, Recon satellites, and had recently purchased both ABM satellites, and C&C satellites from Dartia.

The purchases from Lyras were simply to numerous to list, and there was always the possibility of more such purchases, given the friendly relationship between the two nations. This relationship had even gone so far as to have Lyran troops train and equip the Lamonian Army. And if Lyras should ever decide to purchase anything from Lamoni's own LAIX Arms, they would receive a massive discount, on account of such friendly relations.

Medium ranged strategic bombers had been purchased from Yanitaria, and compact shotguns from Third Spanish States. If you added this to the equipment that had been provided to Lamoni by Lyras previously, the Lamonian military was starting to become a world class fighting force.

Of course, much of Lamonian military equipment was also made inside the borders of the Free Republic itself. One had only to look at the LAIX Arms catalog in order to see what the Lamonian people had been able to accomplish in that theater (OOC: thanks to the Draftroom for all the help on that!), and it was a lot.

There was a indicator noise coming from the President's terminal that a new message had come to his private e-mail account. Checking this latest message, he noted that it had been sent by Tanya Ley, the Lamonian Foreign Minister. She had recently found out about an alliance called the Fedala Accords; and then only after being referred to the organization by the government of Lyras. There was also a lot of information provided about the Fedala Accord organization, as well as how to join them. At the end of the message was a note from Foreign Minister Ley telling him that she thought that there were many benefits for Lamoni if they were accepted into the organization.

President Stinson rubbed his hands together, and started to read the information. If Lamoni was going to join an alliance other than the one that they had already joined (The Delian League), then he was going to get as much information as he could on them. Only then would he consider the proposition of actually joining this alliance.

Some time later, he had finally finished reading through it all, and decided to send an application. He personally felt that joining the Fedala Accords would not only strengthen the diplomatic ties between Lamoni and Lyras, but would also bring Lamoni under the protective umbrella of other powerful nations that Lamoni had always known about, but perhaps had never decided to contact before.

1. http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=549455&page=11&highlight=Lamoni

This thread deals with an usurper taking power in a friendly nation in my region, and details the Lamonian response to the problem, in concert with Pacitalia, and Bazalonia.

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=559987&highlight=Lamoni

This RP is a diplomatic meeting that takes place in Lamoni, and while it went fairly well (I thought) for a bit, the membership of said RP dwindled for various reasons until it abruptly ended.

2. I think that my personal RPing skills could use a good boost, as some of my RPs tend to end up with me just quoting parts of the other person's RP, and replying to those quotes. One example of such can be found here: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=555258&highlight=Lamoni . I also have problems with rounding out a post... adding the little details that give others something that they can latch onto, and make an RP entertaining.

3. ICly, Lamoni is looking for more (and more powerful) allies than just those to be found in The Delian League (founded by Damirez, who is also in the Fedala Accords). We would also be willing to open up new lucrative trade routes that would help to improve our economy even more. As we like to say... "money is always good."

OOCly, i'm looking to expand my base of people that I RP with, as well as gain more RPing experience with some good RPers.

4. I fully agree with the charter as laid out on the first page of this thread.

5. I can already access #d, but you can TG me if you want my MSN Messenger address (though, Lyras already has that, as well).

Communiqué of acceptance to President Stinson

Greetings,

I apologize that this hasn't been sent out sooner, despite the fact that Lamoni's membership was approved by the alliance's general audience a fair while ago. Currently, with world politics in disorder and the Empire's war in Theohuanacu time has simply slipped past. With our sincerest apologies, we wish to make official Lamoni's approval into the Fedala Accord. From a purely political standpoint, we find Lamoni's entry into alliance as one of mutual benefit, as it opens the alliance to Atlantian Oceania. This is also true from an economic perspective. We also feel that Lamoni will be a valuable asset to the alliance.

On the other hand, during our discussions some members found your current economic state problematic. Although this is solvable, we believe that it will take utmost persistence to improve your economic situation. However, this should not be a major problem. Many of our nations are perfectly willing to catalyze the investment of capital into Lamoni, bringing its economy up to par with those already in the alliance. It will present opportunities to further development between all partaking nations. This said, the issue should be brought up immediately to the general audience (OOC: on the forums, of course).

Regardless, welcome to the Fedala Accord!

TO: Fedala Accords Administration
FROM: Vamperial Kingdom of Lynion, High King Vamp Kingston

Honourable members of the Fedala Accords Administration, I come before you to apply for membership in the Fedala Accords. It’s not often we find an alliance that’s bent on focusing on one style of government or focused on waging war simply because of the style of government. We believe this is the main focus of many alliances’s I’ve viewed during my reign. Your alliance has proven that not everything is focused on war.

Mentioning war, I would like to express myself and the kingdom about our capabilities of defending ourselves and if required, waging war. It’s not that we don’t want our allies aiding us, we don’t want to depend ourselves on our allies but depend on ourselves. Another thing I would like to inform the administration, our current conflict with Northam-York, we can handle the war even though we do have an ally with us. Like I said, we want to depend on ourselves as much as we possibly can and yes, the Vamperial Kingdom is a militaristic kingdom.

What we look in an alliance is respect to its other members and avoiding wars over the different style of government in other nations. The Vamperial Kingdom is also interested with getting involved with an alliance that is willing to stand up against the evil of the world and able to keep it articles that keep the alliance unique from others.

Our traits of the kingdom are having a good sense of humour, being serious, being fair and keeping up with our military customs and traditions. We do have a compulsory military service of two years for boys and girls when they reach the age of 18. It has being known that military cadets (between 14 and 18) do take some time to have experience with military hardware but are never deployed in war zones. We believe that the next generation needs to have some experience so they know what the real world can be like.

If there’s something I’ve missed out, please inform me.

What I’m looking in alliance is the capability of concluding and finishing an RP that has begun or at least to make a conclusion before it dies down. I mean, the other RP’s I’ve taken part of have died down somehow especially when it gets to the good part of the thread (eg: Besieging the capital city). This really ticks me off because I enjoy the climax or the fantastic part of the thread. Anyhow, without going dramatic, I’m after an alliance that isn’t focused on one style of government, doesn’t rush into wars, doesn’t do something stupid and actually use’s their brains (no offense intended to the others). The other thing that really ticks me off is when Lynion does something and is then forgotten later or another nation takes the role all of a sudden. Anyhow, Lynion is being paranoid about joining alliances due to the reason stated above but, it’s now willing to join an alliance.

I would like to improve my diplomat RP skills, ability to produce stats about my military hardware (EG: Dingo Fighter Jet), improve my naval and air force RP ability and I want to improve my character RP’s. I would also like to share my ability as a military strategist with alliance members when required. I also agree to the charter both ICly and OOCly.

Communiqué to His Majesty High King Vamp Kingston,

Dear fellow leader,

It's wonderful that another monarchy has applied to become a member of the Fedala Accord; we do not have many. Especially monarchies that see the merits of free trade and liberalism. During the general assembly's vote, there were no negative votes against your membership, and as a result Lynion has been overwhelmingly accepted into the Fedala Accord. I implore you to send a representative to the general assembly (http://s1.zetaboards.com/Fedala) as soon as possible and begin to give your thoughts about the several issues that have been mulling around for a while.

Thank you and good luck,

Office of His Majesty the King

The Royal Commonwealth of Prestonia and Her Overseas Realms does hereby request entry into the alliance known as the Fedala Accord. For centuries, the Royal Commonwealth has stood for the values espoused in the charter and spirit of Fedala, of peace and free trade, and of the brotherhood of nations and men irregardless of their ideologies. Such organizations as Fedala, and the United Federation of Allied Nations of old, are sadly now hard to come by in a world which each day seems more bent upon its own destruction. Even still, I believe in the spirit and letter of Fedala, and would be grateful for admission into its hallowed ranks.

God Save the King.

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=590152 Introduction thread for my puppet, which I'm intending to get back to soonish.

2. I believe my RP could improve in a military aspect as I've been known to make elementary mistakes from not fully analyzing a situation. I also need to work on timely posting, which I've been known to neglect due to RL or laziness. Both problems are being ever corrected.

3. ICly the Prestonian Commonwealth has been in the habit of joining alliances sharing their goals in part or whole with the old UFAN; free trade, protection of human rights and a commitment to mutual defense. Fedala, which contains former UFAN founder and strong Prestonian ally Vetaka, is seen by more than a few as a successor of sorts to UFAN and a lucrative alliance for the Commonwealth to become involved in. OOCly, I've been looking for an alliance of good RPers and people I feel I can trust to not throw me under the bus ICly or just be general douchebags OOCly or ICly. Most of the people in the list are people I know via #d to be decent folk, and people I'd like to associate with ICly more often.

4. I agree to the charter in full.

5. IRC regular. You should know my usual handle.

Communiqué to King George VIII, Kingdom of Prestonia:

[indent]Greetings,

Prestonia's application to the Fedala Accord was thoroughly reviewed by the general assembly of the alliance. I am happy to declare that Central Prestonia's membership was overwhelmingly approved of, with eight "yes" votes. However, the majority of these yes votes were attached to an all-important condition. That condition is Prestonia's withdrawal from the KGP alliance. We feel that Prestonia's membership in the KGP comes into conflict with a potential membership in the Fedala Accord, and most nations in the general assembly require a withdrawal from the KGP in exchange of Prestonia's FA membership. Whether you want to fulfill this condition is a completely different matter and ultimately it is up to you.

We hope to hear from you soon,
