Local New Banters:

Spring Time is here, along with it, comes mother nature

Alice Walker

Spring has arrived at last, the farmers are preparing their crops for the growing season and people are cleaning out old junk from their homes. Along with it comes the power of mother nature as tornadoes and heavy rain begin. The Kuronan Civil Defense Core is estimating so far about 120 tornadoes have touched down in the last two months, about half of them have caused damage and have taken lives. "It's a busy spring for us," Says KCDC Operator. "We've gone to a great amount of places to clean up and treat the injured."

Even Sonomi is seeing it's share of the wild weather when an EF1 Tornado blew through the city, no deaths but the twister has caused damage to homes and businesses.

On the flip side, in some areas flooding has been a problem. Two grape farms as well as an olive farm were flooded out two weeks ago in Southern Kurona. No deaths or injuries have resulted from any of the flooding, but many towns are taking the time to levy off swelled streams.

As such the KCDC has felt the need to remind the people of essential safety for sever weather such as tornadoes. They are sending out safety manuals by the mail. If you have any questions you are encourage to visit your local KCDC office, or write in an inquiry.

Two Arrests Made in the Mysterious Fire that Destroyed Kimono Shop

Kaori Mashimo

Police made arrests at a home in Sonomi, after an anonymous tip lead police to a suspected convicted serial arsonist. Mac Andy, 45, was arrested at his home along with a second suspect, who's name is still not released, after finding various flammable materials in several abandoned barns and cottages with his prints on them. Police have also matched the prints of the second man to several gas cans.

"This is a great day," Says Investigator Yoriko Asahina "We were scared this case would go cold and we would hit a dead end but this was the big breakthrough we had been looking for."

The shop in question was the shop of Cisca Apparel in Sonomi which was burned in a sudden and suspicious fire back in December. Shop owner Arisa Honda had lost not only her shop but her entire savings for the month of December. "I had planned to take it to the bank, but I got sidetracked and forgot." Honda said. "The next thing I know, I'm awaken in the middle of the night telling me my shop is on fire!"

The shop burned to the ground leaving little physical evidence behind other than the eminences of gasoline. Police were officially told to investigate when they were told, no gasoline was kept in the shop, ever. Once accident was ruled out, the investigation began with few leads. The case nearly went cold in March but managed to avoid total snuffing by a few last minute leads, all leading up to the lead that finally broke the case.

However the damage is still done. Honda's insurance doesn't cover for arson and won't pay for the rebuilding of the shop. "Unless I get some more money I won't be able to reopen." Honda has asked charities and family to help and hopes it will be enough. "The best I can do in return is give them all a free Kimono." Honda joked.

The suspects are set to go to trial on the 30th.

Catholic Citizens Protest Holy Vatican's Holy Pope

Yuuki Arie

The Holy Vatican People issued an ultimatum to the Ryou Black Islands to cease the operation of the Pro-Furry Alliance as well as the Confederation of Island Nations. Princess Tomoyo responded in an angry letter expressing her outrage to the Pope for "aligning him self with the fascists of the anti-furry alliance" and further concluding it has reinforced her Shinto beliefs. The pope promptly responded he never aligned himself with the alliance, but however said "I could care less about their views except for the fact I openly dislike furries."

"Openly disliking is just a fancy way of him saying, he's a bigot." Said local Parisa Falkner "I though we were supposed to love our neighbor as thy self."

Even local Preachers are upset over his statement of "When and if you support the correct cause you can be sure to know that God loves his children when he brings you into Heaven."

"The Pope should be reminded God's love is unconditional" said father Ewan McGregor.

Even the non-catholic citizens as well as non religious citizens are speaking out. Noted Lesbian Chikane Himemiya said "He's living proof the Catholic Church is now riled in corruption and fallacy. If there is a hell, and if I'm really going to it, I can't wait to see him down there with me."

The Princess urged her people to remain calm and to "Not get upset. It's just another corrupt official."

In Little Neko Town in Southwest Kurona many Catholic nekos are feeling betrayed. "I have been taught God loves me." Said local Alexa Smith. "But how can one of his Holy Messengers hate me then? I think I've had enough with the Catholic Church, I'm going to start seeing which Christian Church works for me."

And citizens aren't buying his B.S. statement about not having weapons. "Who would make threats with out weapons?" Said High schooler Koji Matsumoto. "He has them, but he likes to pretend he is high and and mighty peace lover. He's no better than the Ryous he threatens."
