Prologue

The kewen evoled on the planet Dun Khem a desert planet in a system with only one terren type planet and three dry rocky planets.
The Kewen were originally a race of large dull blue creatures, they grew to anaverage of 1.5 meters in hieght having 8 arms / legs they resembled a large spider.
kewen on Dun Khem had developed into a primitive hunter gather society with basic language skills. their communications consisting of hig pitched squeling and grunts.

The kewen was first discovered when a small group of human colonists arrvied in system colonising the terran planet they started to spread out to the desert ones for minerals and metals where they discovered the kewen originally though to be pests and vermin the colonists killed any kewen they saw eventually though they started to use the kewen as labours their many hands good for running through the mines and scouring for metals it was not long till they were integrated into the colony the human colonists taught the kewen how to use technology and speak giving them the tools to eventually over through them.

over the next thousand years or so the kewen diverged into castes and were controlled by a single entity know only as the Hive or Queen. The hive soon began to devlop Phyic skills and began probing the humans mind for informations. 2300 years had past since there discovery the kewen had evolded and adapted pretty quickly then came the plague it devestated the Human population of the system soon only a handful remained when the last of them died off the Queen asserted kewen control taking over unmanned ships stations and technology from the colonists the kewen grew contact was cut off from the outside universe.

Now 6000 years have been passed since the discovery of Kewen they set out to explore the universe and maybe find some more of their former masters kind.

Present Time
"Ship Leader" chirpped a command drone " The queen wishes to speak directly to you" he continued still fixy and adjusting the controls for the ships comm.

nodding Drone 71C scuttled of to his private quaters his Angular blue Carparace reflecting the light as he made his way through the tangled mess of corridors and pathways
Reaching his quaters his firmly grasped his Hive Pendant he felt his mind being sucked into the Hive the crushing sense of insignifigance pounding in his mind as he was drawn to the center

"Drone 71C, you have been chosen by the Hive to recive a gift" the soft voice flowed thorugh his skull " the likes of which that has not been given since our foundation........ a name, from now you are designated as Riun"

with what he was called for accomplised he was promplty dismissed his mind flying throught the viod serching for his Hive Pendant
remerging with his body he took serveral deep breaths stedying himself he scuttled to the bridge as fast as possible repeating his name

when he arrived he issused a set of quick rapid orders.
The KSS( Kewen star ship)Indomitable a modified reverance class ship ( http://www.strategyplanet.com/hwshots/hw2/shots/HW2_09_battle%20group.jpg ) Riun felt the ship shudder as the expermental FTL drive began charging up

"power levels at 100% engaging drive" annouced a command drone his link to the Hive preventing any Raw emotions surfacing at this moment
with a shudder and a groan the Indomitable engaged its FTL and phased into subspace.

hours later...

The deck shuddered as the Bi-organice hull warped under the stress as it made the transistion to normal space
"Transition successful FTL test successful, location is exactly 1 AU from Dun Khem all systems nominal" reported a drone

suddenyl with a whine the power cut out plunging the bridge into darkness the reserve power kicking in lights dimly working again

"what happened?" asked Riun inquzitivly
"Ship leader the core has shut down the drain was too much time till restart 28 hours but at present rate oxygen will run out in 24 hours"

doubts began to form in Riuns mind the indomitable was motion less the 720m ship floating lifelessly in space

"divert nessasary power to the comms to get them working start broad casting a SOS on all known frequencies and hope to the Hivesomeone picks up"

It was another day in space for the female crew of the NKS 'Cherry Blossom' a Pioneer class exploration starship.

Captain Yuri Sakato sat in her command chair as they had entered that system and the comms officer picked up their SOS.

"Source" the captain asked.

"Two light years away" the young asian woman replied and ordered were given to render assistance.

They approached with shields running just in case but the larger ship looked like it had little power.

"This is the NKS Cherry Blossom, Captain Yuri Sakato commanding. We have picked up your SOS. Please state the nature of the emergency" she broadcast using visual communications.

She was 26 years old and wore the red wrap over jacket, black skirt and black thigh boots uniform. There was a wicked looking long dagger on her left hip and a crossed swords comm badge on her right breast.

She like the rest of her crew were of asian descent and like most of her crew had long dark hair, olive skin and dark eyes.

Theres two phaser banks, two photon torpedo tubes and a cloaking device on board

"ship Leader we are getting hail from something source unknown scanners have to little power" a command drone indicated
"braodcast this message in kewen and in the kanguage of the discovererrs"
"Alien ship this is the KSS indomitable we are a unarmed experimental vessel we need assistance our power core has gone offline and we are running out of air" was broadcasted in kewen the chirps and scraths highpicthed and semi-distressed then the same broadcast in english
" Ship of unknownness we be KSS Indomitable no weapons being of on board our place of power is innactive helping is requested" the language of the discoverers having not been spoken in over 3000 Riun was shocked thet computer could still translate

The comms officer picked up both messages but the reply in english saved the having to run the universal translator.

"KSS Indomitable your situation is understood. We will be beaming a team of engineers to your bridge to see if they can help restore your power and life support.

They will be there shortly."

Which they were two minutes later. Two small female engineers appeared out of columns of white sparking light and they wore the red jacket with black trousers and short boots as well as the honour dagger on their left hip. They weren't obviously armed apart from this and they each had a tool kit and universal power cells.

The slightly older asian woman looked round the dark bridge shining a flash light and said "I'm Lt Emi Kobashi, an engineer. Who is in command?"

the Two Human female engineers appeared on the bridge much to the shock of Riun and they were tall this being the firs contact the kewen has had since their discovery they had forgotten how short they were.

the humans labguage sounded harsh to the kewen with uneeded noises Riun scuttled up to the one who asked the question standing a mere few feet away from her he responded in broken english
"I Riun Ship Leader"
looking nervously up at the Humans
"divert power to the lights give us decent amout of light to use" he chirrped in his native touge the pleasnt sweet words of kewen seemed much more useful then the harsh words of human

Both engineers had portable universal translators with them which were already processing the Kewen's native language. Given time the UT's would negate the need for harsh sounding words.

Emi bowed to Riun since he was the Captain and when the lights came back on she switched of the flashlight for now.

Emi was 21 and the other engineer was 19. A young crew wasn't unusual on one of their ships.

"Ship Leader Riun, we also have brought universal power packs with us so with a little work they'll also function in your life support. Can you show us where the the engineering panel is on the bridge and also main engineering?

Hopefully we'll have your life support fixed soon and then we can assist you will restoring power" Emi added.

Riun showed the two humans to where the bridge power pan el was removing the protective convering it showed various ciriutry mixed in with Bio-Circiutry becasue parts of the Kewen ship was living the hull it grows and learns and adapts to all weaponry eventually.

pull the cover over to the side he made room for the two humans
"there is it" he said

"we only have 8 hoursof oxygen left ship leader" a command drone spoke up.

looking up at one of the humans riun spoke up
"if can you could please hurry 8 hours of breathing air left"

"We can send over bottled oxygen from our ship if it comes to that" Emi replied going into her tool kit and showing Riun a power pack.

"Aiko work on that panel while I go to engineering. Getting enough power for life support is the priority right now" she said hoping somebody could show her the way.

wanting to keep an eye on the one staying in the bridge Riun ordered in Second command drone 72C to lead the other human to engineering

motioning for the human to follow him
72C spoke " i am Command drone 72C following me to engineering be warning croushing is probably nesssary as our hallways are made for us, stay close"
72C started to move along the hallways at a slowpace allowing the human to keep up

Emi being small anyway had no problem in reaching engineering and kept up. Out came her flashlight again and once there she located the power systems with 72C's help.

A little adjustment of the power pack made the energy compatible with the ship and when the pack was plugged in there was some power in life support. Each pack could last for four hours as Emi worked on the power couplings.

She hadn't seen a bio-mechanical ship before but the basic engineering principles remained the same as she kept asking 72C techinical questions from time to time. He knew this ship better than she did as she worked in the dim light of engineering.

72C answer any questions the hunman had but flaty refusing to tell her anything if 72C felt as if it was vital wondering how long it might take 72C asked
"how long estimating you think it take?"

meanwhile back on the bridge power was resorted and Riun asked the human
"if thinking the job her done is you welcome to go helping your comrade down in engineering" in truth Riun just wanted her off the bridge

"I'm making good progress with your help. Perhaps in two hours most of the work will be done.

Theres extra power packs as well so you'll have life support and some power until the jobs done no matter how long it takes" Emi replied to 72C as she ran her engineering tricorder over a power conduit.

She had to figure out some of this herself but hadn't pinned it down to not being given vital information yet. She was finding her way around the ship systems even without all the information.

Seeing her job was done on the bridge Aiko was able to join Emi once guided down to engineering.

72C was realived if you could call it that or was it the Hive that expressed that through him you could never tell.

back on the bridge Riun assigned 243B to lead the human down to her comrade with some of the ships systems combing back online Riun thought it was time to say thank you to the human ship
"Open a channel to the human vessel visual if possible"
standing in the middle of the bridge with his command drones scurrying about behind him he spoke
"KNS cherry blosum, thanking you for you assistance and providing us with sorly needed help is there anything you wish to know about us?"

Seeing the spider like creatures who crewed this ship didn't bother Yuri. They were still sentient lifeforms regardless of how they looked.

"We were glad to help you out. Meeting new species is our main mission after all.

I would be interested in hearing how your race came about and how you made it to the stars" Yuri replied. Her Lt had checked in sure that they'd have most of the work done in two hours.

Hanging round in space in a damaged ship was a bad idea at the best of times. These warrior amazons always assumed trouble was round the next asteroid field.

"send them a data packege with our history and bit about our bioligy"Riun ordered

"Main mission of ours is to be testing the use of our FTL drive, seeing as you can it was mostly successful parting the shutdown of out power core" he continued

meanwhile back in engineering the power core hummed to life sickly pulsation green as it restarted
the engineering crew was as happy as a Kewen could get they went about back to work making sure it would stay online
"Congratulations" 72C said to the human "you doing you work well,the core is operational again"

with power flooding to the ship all its systems restarted the engines glowly a light green as they throbbed back into life illimuinating the rear of the ship

out in space somewhere close but not in sight of the Two Ship a Imperial Navy Kaidan Wolf Pack drop in from the Void with guns on line and shields up

"345664 one unknown and Kirisubo on long range sir"said a Clone to the Clone Captain of the Flagship

"make them but no contacting them as we only passing by" said the Captain as the Wolf Pack slowly move through space

OOC: I might join as soon as I can angle a way in. Also, I like the way you quote the Kewen's with no punctuation marks; it makes it seem telepathic/ alien.

wth the main power resotered and the ship coming back to life again 72C led both of the humans back to the bridge
with main power nack online Riun ordered the Indomitable to complete the final part of his mission
transmitting a message to the vessel that aided them "do not fear what we do"

Sections of its hull began moving the indomitables top armour began parting slowly within it a large relay began to unfold glowing bright green with the energy of the hive. when it fully unfolded it looked as if someone had thrown a massive spear right though the middle of the Kewen vessel
"Activate it" order Riun

all the green energy focused at the two points of the tower and then detonated harmlessly sending out a large Psychic pulse mapping the area and forever being etched into the eye of the Hivemind.

The Hive mind is not ordinary being it is celestial being that in habits a tempermetal sub-verse a form of extradimensional being that guides and gives meanig to the kewen the Hive mind is everseeing but it gaze only can see as far as its territory the pulse emited carried harmless radiation from the Hive's universe aloowing the hive to see and grow, expanding its veiw for another AU and linking it with its presense in Dun kmer

ooc : i hope you mamnged to get some sense out of that last bit its supposed to explain the Hive better

The comms officer did acknowledge receipt of the data package but the tactical officer had picked up the Isian wolf pack very quickly.

"Captain its an Isian wolf pack. Our ships have had peaceful dealings with them before" she said cutting across Riun's transmision.

Pausing Riun's message Captain Sakato ordered "send our greetings to their lead ship and act friendly. I would like this to remain peaceful."

Resuming the conversation the Captain Riun she said "testing FTL drives is always tricky. We all go through the same basic problems when traveling faster than light.

Now that your ship seems to be up and running again I would like to invite you over to my ship for a tour and perhaps a meal."

Ari smiled hearing the praise and seeing the systems pulse with energy again.

"Its all part of the service 72C. We're both explorers and curious about the universe" she replied and then seen how the Kewen mapped that star system. She looked curious and impressed at the same time at the efficient method that had been used.

the Hive mind rejoiced if you could call it that a being its size feelings cannot be meausredd in our lifetime its mind expanded into the expanding pulse filling the viod and re-affirming the crew of the Indomitable it was still here as always.

Riuns pendant glowed bright yellow a thing that has rarely ever happened before

" Riun, you have done your job well we are pleased all kewen are please " the pure celestial voice rang our for all to hear the sweet softness of the words soothing the Kewen on the bridge soon all of them had closed their eyes and relaxed into a trance
" continue on Riun and know the Hive is with you " she ended the pendant bright light faded away

blinking Riun asked "status on the pulse?"
"pulse has reached maximum range, sub-verse particles are stable hive sight is established" replied a command drone slower than usual turning its head it blinked its large eyes still having trouble coming to terms with hearing the collective voice of the Hive.

"Ship leader what about the human offering?" a command drone interjected while Riun was oacing the bridge

"them to told be i accepting" riun answered "havingthe human two on board meeting at shuttle bay 2" he added as he walked off the bridge picking up speed as he zoomed down the corridors

Walking into the bay he slowed down somewhat his guard caught up with him along with 32D a diplomatic drone who had the honor with a direct link with the Hive stepping aboard the shuttle he was gretted by 72C and the two humans(assuming you wanna hitch a ride with me?) the shuttle promplty took off and made its was towards the human vessel

The two engineers hitched a lift back to the 'Cherry Blossom' and they let the Kewen exit first. The Captain was also waiting for them and she bowed in welcome to Riun and 72C.

Meeting new species was the main job Pioneer class starships had and this Captain had a warm smile for her visitors.

as Riun and his followers stepped of the shuttle the human captain was waiting for him, When she bowed Riun and his followers did the same

"behalfing of all kewen we say greetings and thanking you for the aid for our vessel"

back on the Indomitable
"81C, scanners are showing another alien fleet" a command drone chirpped as he adjusted and fine tuned the sensors
"hail them if possible all channels" he replied
"Attentnion alien fleet, who are you? and what is your purpose? "

was sent in kewen and in engligh although english turned out like"yoohoo alien grouping of many ships you are who ? purpose is what?"

By now the return greetings from the Wolf pack who looked like they might pass on had been received.

There was no reason to assume the friendly relations they had wouldn't continue.

Captain Sakato was able to understand the slightly confused English easily enough and replied to Riun.

"We were glad to help you out. Its not a safe universe and we'd do the same for anybody else stuck by the side of the road.

We prepared a buffet of meats for you and your officer based on the datapacket you sent us. If you follow me I'll show you to the mess hall where we'll dine."

The Captain had no private dining area so she ate with the crew although at this time of the ships day the dining area would be quiet.

Riun understood what the human captian said if a bit slow nodding he said
"lead on" as he followed her wondering what food they had made

meanwhile back on the indomitable with good results from the pulse and the presence of the hive mind established it made preparations to head home plotting its course and readying the drive

The Sarahanian Scout vessel dropped from lightspeed just outside of the system edge. The presence of 64 ships generally means something is happening, therefore the ship, the Crusader, jumped into the system to see what was happening.

"Take us out of the mass jump, Full quieting procedures, prep for 2 active ASRPs, Lieutenant Stevenson, Commander hawking, rig for red, Chief of the Ship, activate forward camera, Weapons officer, Warm up the main guns and open the VLASM Tubes, And go to general quarters, Nav Officer, prep the Primary and Secondary Speed engines for emergency manuvers, Wake the Psychologist and Diplomat, and will someone get me a coffee?" The captain bellowed as the vessel made a small starlike burst that lets off no energy.

The vessel quickly manuvered itself into the Isian wolfpack and tapped into it's intra-ship Comms. "all hands, prepare target solutions and set thrusters for full burst at a button push" Ordered the captain.

The Captain led the way and the quiet mess hall had a few off duty crew in it. They were drinking coffee and chatting away in their own language as the Captain brought her guests to a table near a window.

A trolley had a meat and fish buffet and fish and cooked rice for the Captain and Commander Yoko Tzu.

The XO warmly introduced herself and looked very much like her Captain but wearing the trouser uniform instead of a skirt.

There was also plates, knives, forks and chopsticks. The table also had jug of water and four glasses on it.

"Captain Riun you can help yourself from the trolley" the XO added as the Neo Kirisuban's took their seats at the table.

Just then the Captains comm badge went off and she listened to the tactical officer. She was told in Kirisuban that the Isians had opened fire on a ship that had just jumped into the system.

"Keep and eye on things and keep me updated she replied also in Kirisuban.

On a Open channel to Kewen and Kirisubanships would pick

we just blow up a ship that had enter our fleet thinking they can get away with it and clearly by how they snecked in were up to no good

Back on the 'Cherry Blossom' bridge

The Chief engineer who presently had bridge command heard this message from the Isian's and muttered to herself 'you don't just move into a ship formation and not expect to be shot at'.

on the bridge of the indomitable 81C saw the exchange between the new aliens and what was another new species to meet 81C manoverd the indomitable away from the wolfpack but stil realativly close to the 'cherry blosum'.

Riun sat down at the table along with the diplomat 32D while 72C just stood and watched. Taking some of the food on the tray Riun began to eat saying a quick thanks to the hive in his native tougne before begining but 32D was all buisness "our diplomatic protocols stressed being are by meeting of a new race well a old race new again, anyways there no is a formal means indicated in the Diplomatic protocols we follow so i being at somewhat of a loss"

getting a rather hurtful glare from Riun, 32D thought maaybe he should of ate first before talking

Turning to the diplomat Captain Sakato replied "we prefer friendly and simple introductions and food helps as well.

The more relaxed it is the better although this approach dosen't work will all species we meet.

We also read your datapacket and it proved very interesting. A hive mind must make things a lot easier to achieve."

She started to eat her own rice followed by the XO. They used chopsticks being more used to them.

32D studied the human captian before replying
"All kewen are sentient beings we are not controled by the Hive mind, we are guided if we wished it was could be independant but we prefer to work with the hive rather than agaisnt or for it" taking a small bite he contiued "If you wish to you can speak directly with the hive? although the transport there and back maybe a little disconforting"

In the far distance a blue-white sphere popped in to existance. A shape infinitesimal grew fantastically fast; unfolding the odd triangular ship that it was. The blue-white bubble un-popped out of existance. Far away and silently it watched the three alien vessals.
"Shields up?" questioned Director Ioki

"yes" replied the Lead Shield Moderator

"Power?" asked Director Ioki

"nominal" answered the Engineer Liaison

"Good.. Status on these four other ships?" Director Ioki asked

"One is of Neo Kirisubo class, the green spiked one is of alien origen, the two others are unknown and are moving with weapons ready." answered the Information Officer

"Neo Kirisubo? Didn't we have a few delegates meet them at some festival? Ok, so which of the two other ships did that mindpulse emmanate? And where is our Xeno-medium?" Director Ioki questioned. "Ready a graviton bomb set it for the two unknowns."

"Sir, the xenomedium is on his way, best guess the green spiked ship sent the mind pulse, should we start hailing the Neo Kirisubo ship?" replied Ship Liaison

"Yes start hailing, maybe they can help us figure this out." The Director was starting to get a little nerved

"Sir, Keaka Inekiko, xenomedium, has reached the celebratron chamber." informed the Ship Liaison

"Great," Director Ioki intercomed the chamber "Keaka start broadcasting."

Four other people sat around in the chamber; all had turned focus onto him. Eyes darted to and from; then they faced one another looking inward into empty space between them. Concentration set in, a whisped humm started, and spinning gizmos whipped round in a complex mechanism. Eyes half way opened; they looked at nothing and everthing. Keaka thought the light dim and he was alone but watched. His mind reached out with incalcuable phantom finger tips, searching for something unfamilure and remembered. A surge of green color flowed before his mind's eye. He could feel it in his mind's finger tips; like warm water. His consciousness sprung into action "~~mmmmentatiferoussssoooonessssppppluseeeesssscreameddddssssquarmeddddtttthroughhhhbbbbrainssssbbbbr oughttttaaaattentionnnniiiinteruptionnnnddddreammmmccccommunicationssssffffriendlyyyy...~~"

"retract the array mapping is complete now we wait for Riun to return" 81C ordered the array slowly began folding back into the ship the hull resuming its original form and shape

a comunique containing the FTl adjusts was sent back to home where it would be analised corrected and improved so the next ship KSS Eternal could make its jump

32D studied the human captian before replying

"I'll consider that kind offer" Yuri replied adding "now I see what you mean. The mind advises more than anything which still allows for freedom.

Another ship of our exploration fleet ran into a race called the Imitators or to give the the full title, Alliance of Imitated worlds.

The first thing they wanted to do was take other the 'Empress Keiko' and assimilate the crew. They had a hive mind as well but there was no freedom in it."

Back on the bridge another hail was coming through and the Chief Engineer fielded the call.

"Greetings Xocotlian vessel. I'm the Chief Engineer, Commander Ogawa currently holding the conn.

The alien ship beside us belongs to the Kewen, a peaceful race we've just made first contact with.

The large fleet is an Isian Wolf Pack and the ship in the middle of the formation is unknown to us so far. We can barely pick it up on our sensors."

The young asian woman in the centre seat hoped this could help.

ooc: sorry; was going for alienesque effect. If you take off 3 letters from the words beginning and ending you can read it better.

"Sir we just detected a light ripple and the two unkowns are firing at it origin point."

"Damn, whats going on out here." replied Director Ioki

32D shuddered at the thought of a all controling hive mind regainng his composure he resumed speaking

Director Ioki sat in his chair, relaxed, and accessed the dreamscape. There he could syphon the datalouge and download the information he deemed useful. Out side the dreamscape Director Ioki looked kind of dazed, but everyone did when inside the dreamscape; half awake half dreaming. Some were experts and could maintaine full awareness while deeply emerged in the dreamscape. Ioki found the Kewen communication information and downloaded it. The green crystal on the tip-top of his forehead gleamed with light. In a moment it was done; Director Ioki stoodback up. "Alright seems the Kewen transmittion will have to be visual."

He stood in the cameras view range. The monitor showed him form the chest up. He was a typical Feru standing 1.6m, thin, pale green complexion, pointed ears, three eyes, short fleshy antennas either side of center eye, nose centered below central eye, thick blue-black hair, and gills between neck and shoulders. However Director Ioki reveled in his orange eyes; as those colored eyes were fairly rare. He began to gessture with hands and arms going every whichway. The long forearms slipped past his face between words forming what he hoped was an tangeble sentence. He motioned:

His eye brows scrunched, wrenched, and undulate. It felt some what easier this way; more fluidic. As he signaled out the sentence he felt compotent this time the word formation was correct. Ioki relaxed his face and thought to himself hoping the images didn't weird out the Kewens.

The kewen hull was mostly seemles with no discrenable entrace for a docking bay when suddenly part of the hull on the right side began to fold back slowly exposing a decent sized hanger with Rockrats and Angels in neat rows ready to be deployed half the hanger had been cleared for the alien party and various colorful lights were setup up showing the enterance of the hanger to the aliens.

Meanwhile in the 'Cherry Blossom' mess hall the meal continued and Captain Sakato replied when the offer was made to her.

"I would like the chance to speak to your Queen and help the process of getting to know each other along" she replied before eating more rice and adding "theres water on the table or I could suggest green tea if you want to wash the buffet down."

Kaeka, Montague, Kepakiano had reached bayside and prepped their Celestine Skin Suits. The suits were uneasy at first, loose, a little uneven, dense, and heavy. Bulked with equitment and all; they jostled awakwardly. Still the team managed to put them on. Then the amazing miracle of science kicked in with the push of a button on the inside collar. The suits warped; shrinking and expanding in areas. Tightining, fittining the suits wouldn't stop until they fit their host perfectly. Finally the undulating subsided; now the suits' nodes conected to the Ferus' 'second skin.' The 'skins' moved in unison with their hosts. The team tested out each of their suits making sure of fitting, weak spots, holes, and oxygen producers but alas all was good; just like always. In sequince they reached behind their necks, pressing hard in a pinching motion. A helmet/visor spread out around their heads from radical dimensions. The symbiotic space suits were ready all three gave a quick thumbs up before comms turned on.

The team walked to an airlock while engaged in a mild converstation. Sealed the door behind them. There they waited, still engaged in conversation, for the atmosphere to evacuate. Director Ioki gave them the ok, and the outer door slid open. The team poked their heads out to get a good visual; then backed themselves against the inner door for a running start.
"Ok, guys just remember it take two point three seconds for our I.M.G.s to power up and it looks like we got maybe two point six seconds before we reach the shields, so hit them on as soon as your feet leave the ship." Kaeka grined
"Got it!" Montague and Kepakiano answered in unison.
"Good"... "Ready"... "Set"...Kaeka was off... "Go!"
All three ran and leaped.
Over the comms the rest of the ship could hear Kaeka's "Whoohoooo" Montague who gave a "Geronimoooo'' and Kepakiano "Cheaterrr."
Director Ioki watched the three on screen. Leaping out the team tapped on their Individual Magnetosphere Generators. Now they floated towards invisible shells; if the Membrane Feild failed them the I.M.G.s would be damaged exposing them to deadly cosmic radiation.
"Director, the membrane feild has stabelized an opening." The Feild Moderator informed Director Ioki with a little excitement.
"Alright," He said with some concern in his voice followed by "Who's got eight minutes."
"Eight minutes? Sir, its got to be three minutes!" replied the Ship Liaison.
"Three!" Exclaimed the Information Officer. "Did you see them leap off, two minutes, tops!"

Out in space, just past the (sheild/feilds) Keaka thought to himself. Was it more floating or diving? How hard will the impact be? Did Montague remember the star maps? All these he asked himself along with other miniscule thoughts. Then he remember the crew and commed the ship.
"You guys got a betting pool going?" Kaeka inquired.
Director Ioki commed backed "More like informal wages on honor."
"Put me down for two minutes forty eight seconds." It was Kaeka favorite sport after all.
"Two minutes fifty five seconds, for me." Commed in Kepakiano.
"Two minutes thirty seconds, for me." Commed in Montague.


The trio drifted like ducks in a row. With no air molecules and no gravity to speak of there was nothing to slow them down. They drifted in space at the same constant speed at which they had left the Arion.

1.15 minutes
They were close to the 'Cherry Blossom'. Their I.M.G.s had a slight blue aurora.
"Ok in three seconds we will be close enough to the ship for us to turn off the IMGs, get your magnetic anchors ready"
"Check" Kepakiano and Montague answered.

1.18 min.
The Trio's I.M.G.s were off and the aimed their Magnetic Anchors. Puffs of carbon dioxide gas launched the magnetic anchors at the 'Cherry Blossom' like unto harpoons to a whale. Three conections reeled in the drifters. Their feet landed firmly on the ship's hull. They then switched off the magnet anchors and switched on the magnetic foot soles. Then turned and sprinted for the other side of the ship.

1.50 min.
They were quickly approaching the other side. With the gained momentum they jumped and turned off their magnetic soles. They had a faster momentum leapfrogging from the 'Cherry Blossom' and now the Kewen ship was near.

1.53 min.
They had to time their I.M.G.s just right so not to be exposed to the radiation and not to damage the generators.

2.22 min.
The trio was midway between ships.

2.32 min.
"You ready, boys, for a repeat performance?" Kaeka was checking on his recruits.
"Check" they said again in unison.

2.39 min.
All three magnetic anchors were fired once more.

2.45 min.
The trio were finishing reeling in.

2.52 min.
Kaeka's magnetic sole were turned on "Time!" He commed over to the Arion. Meanwhile Kepakiano's feet were planted before Montague's.
"Two point fifty two minutes, Kaeka, nice hussel, better luck next time." Director Ioki commed back.
"All right guys the hard part is over, let get to that bay door we saw open." Keaka said.

81C almost lost his footing when he heard what the aliens had done many technicions and pilots ran to the hanger feilds straining to get a peek outside to get a glimpse of these new aliens some managed to sight them before being ordered back to their positions. a angel interceptor shot out of the hanger bay and moved towards the aliens on the hull it was supposed to get a good look at them and make sure they didnt bring anything nasty over.

The trio waved at the fast paced thing that had shot out the bay; giving them a good proximation of the distance. Montague bent down to the hull and a gave three knocks, while wondering if anyone on the inside heard them.

Montague shook off the brief incounter with the ship's automated defence. "That was a stupid move, but at least we know one more thing about the Kewens."
Kaeka's and Kepakiano's concern on their faces lessend.
They continued to walk forward to the opening.
"We're almost to the opening, and that craft is still following us, its feeling like an ify situation" Kepakiano was always a precautious one.
"We're the the ones that contacted their hive mind queen, imagine an alien mind in your inner most realm, it might cause a lil' paranoia." Kaeka explained.
They walked the distance and stood before the gap of the bay. Standing they examined their options.

Kaeka's turn came; he placed his hands on Kepakiano's shoulders, flipped over the gap, wraped his legs around Kepakiano's knees. As Kaeka's top body fell forward Montague's legs came up. Kaeka grabed Montague's ankles unwraping his legs around Kepakiano's knees. Kaeka now dangled below Montague. Kaeka got a good look on how far down the floor was. He took a deep breath, let go of Montague's ankle, and with all the agility of an Olympian from Earth landed on the floor feet first.
"Kaeka the (cat)." remarked Kepakiano.
Montague let go next, but he had someone to catch him. Kepakiano's turn now; Kaeka and Montague laced their arms into a safty net. Kepakiano's fall was something though as he did rotations half way down; land square between Montague and Kaeka.

Safely down the trio walked past row after row of Kewen crafts towards the back of the hanger; looking for some kind of enterance.

"I would have no problem with a trade agreement once we know what you would need from us. Our main exports are technology and weaponry given our homeworlds.

Even peaceful explorers need weapons and we only use them when diplomacy has failed and in self defence.

The dinner was over and Captain Sakato had escorted Captain Riun and his colleage back to their shuttle.

The half sleeping Kirisuban Captain wrapped a kimono round herself when the comms officer got her up and she gave an order to her bridge.

Kaeka exhaled and inhaled, taking in a few deep breaths in effort to clear and focus his mind. Relaxed with head tilted up he began to speak "I guess the best way to begin would be to explain that we are inheritors, children of super-science, descendants of Unidox. It was a nation forged in the aftermath of the All Elves Conflict, but they called it a war, a genocide. Time passed, things happened, they left Earth and went into the stars, found and setteled the Xocotl Cluster in the Milkyway. There aeons of peace and prosperity was had. Well semi-peace and quasi-prosperity. Unidox made friends, allies, unions with alien nations. In those times advancement great and miniscule were made. During this epoch the Milkyway spewed forth many great, powerful, or pestering nations. They watched the galaxy explode into war after war, conflict after confIict, genocide after genocide. Unidox and her allies kept themselves isolated. It became their practice to infiltrate and wipe out entier stars systems off maps and records of expanding, threatening nations. It became their modus operandi, and their technology was adapted for these subversive tactics. In this calm strong transhuman...,really trans-half elf, movements griped the cluster. In reality there were two groups the transhumanist who wanted quicken the pace of evolution and the amalgamatist who wanted to toss in alien genes into the genepool. For awhile it seemed that the transhuman crowd had won out.
