Im considering stating a FT thread for my nation to be in space
umm i've never done a FT one before so can anyone elp me with what i need to make a good/decent FT thread ? ( first contact actually, but meh)
any advice would be greatly appriciated
Well, if you're doing it first contact style,you're either an alien race that is just reaching space travel enough to participate into the (inter)galatic community such as in the case with my nation, or you're a human settlement that got isolated for some reason and flourished with independence. If the latter, the only major question is the backstory behind the cutoff since that sets the groundwork for everything that follows.
If you're a new alien race, though, you need to create an entire history, biological and social, if you want to establish your people's flavor properly. You'd be surprised how the little details in the beginning can come into play later. For example, the predatory ancestry of the Golugani was crucial in explaining how they were able to develop military-style technology: Dueling to settle disputes between schools.
if i was to establish a alien race etc and history biological stuff would this be done in the first post?

Im new to FT as well, but I would assume to add a decent amount into the first post, but explain a lot in the first thread, that way no one has to read a novel.
maybe a factbook to reference, but introduce the society in the story.
