Sertian

The first signs of Sertian interests in this uninhabited sector came one month ago, of course it was an unnoticed sign given the fact it was the first stage of a covert operation. The most that came of the exploit was a disturbance in space as they activate the Warp Gate they had stolen from the United Resistance, replacing two areas of space and time for near instantaneous transportation from their home galaxy. Of course, only one ship was placed within the system then, and it’s only objective to fire a series of satellites around the almost uninhabitable desert planet.
The satellites had a two-fold purpose: First they were an electromagnetic net that scrambled most traditional (and finer resolution) scanners; secondly they were a series of holographic projectors, the largest projectors within the Sertians capacity to create. The result was that the planet now seemed to be going through a global dust storm, creating so much ionization that prevented the type of scanners the EM net blocked from working.
Then the system lay quiet for a week as they slowly recharged the warp gate for the next phase of the operation…
It was then once again visited by another spatial abnormality as this time an entire squadron of Sertian ships arrived, protected by the cover of their holographic net. It was mostly a supply convoy consisting of four MDIAC Drop Ships that would land on the surface, specifically five kilometers away from the largest lake on the planet. The event was followed by several reinforcement carriers landing to the ground to drop off supplies, troops, and vehicles for the budding base. Within twenty-four hours a full compliment of soldiers was on duty with four forward base centers and two AS-AA canons primed.
Two days later, four million of the five million Sertians who were already in the galaxy arrived out of the Drift, leaving behind a lone million to defend the Outpost on the edge of the galaxy. They started to assist in the construction, building up what was slowly becoming a city-sized operations center.
Two-weeks ago the arrival came late, as to make the distortions not to regular. This time the compliment was half supply and half reinforcements. The city-base was nearing completion; large areas assigned for future research and development projects as well as the massive AS-AA canons spotted around the edge, seeming to make large towers to a growing tungstanium wall approaching kilometers in height. Of course they weren’t the only defenses the outer perimeter was armed with, plasma canons and rail-batteries capable of hitting most aerial and land targets. Hover vehicles moving along the roads of the buildings as the final defensive measures and equipment on land were being set up.
It was also then that they started to put into place their newly developed Space Defense Batteries, large automated defenses armed with plasma, railgun, and ion technology that utilized a magnetic field that locked with the planet’s in order to move and stay in orbit.
The final deployment came three days ago, the largest yet. In three days they finished the space defense network, started mining operations on the mineral rich moon in orbit (which would later become a back up computer nexus for the defenses), and also put into place five specialized fusion generators across the planet that would slowly take the large concentrations of nitrogen and carbon in the atmosphere and fuse it with hydrogen resulting in oxygen. Most of the mass created would be released as water vapor, while ten percent was oxygen-two. It would most likely take years for it to be a fully habitable planet, but for now the surface could support the one hundred million soldiers and scientists that had come to the Milky Way Galaxy.
Their announcement and claim was made when the batteries of their holographic generators died and the remains reclaimed, as well as when messages were sent to all Sertian allies to come for the final testing phases of the space defense network and the new computer technology that powered it – born from the first successful fruits of nanite and sentient AI technology, or at least research that had sprung off of it.
