Building of the worldgate (FT, Hyperspatial travel)

Finally after 6 Months of extensive work, it was completed. It was a worldgate, an object that could propel a fleet of ships from one territory to another. This particular gate led to the lands of the Realm. The realm was the first extra terrestrial race found by the federation. Under their guidance did the federation gain the ability to jump to FTL speeds. Now it was time to return the favor.

"OK admiral, opening World gate... now. Good luck, sir"
"Thank you operator." Said admiral Hardforth

The Admiral as some of you may know was the one who encountered the first Realm ship. And now he was going to test the Gate.

"Gate is now active sir." Said a young ensign, Just as a deep blue portal materialized inside the ring that is the gate.

"beggining approach run sir, let's hope this works." Said the same ensign.

As the frigate independance neared the Gate reality itself seemed to bend and twist, like some kind of out of control fun house.

In a flash the ship vanished, and then on the other side of the galaxy, reappered.

"This is Admiral Hardforth of the United Oblivion Federation, any Realm Vessels, please respond!"

OOC: Just an OOC heads-up. The Realm and Naggeroth have merged to form the larger, greater nation named The Authority of Cypria (http://wiki.esusalliance.co.uk/index.php?title=Cypria). Since Naggeroth never really had much in the way of foreign policy, all Realm alliances are being maintained.

IC: The worldgate was a grand construction. Largely subsidized by the Realm, in the last days of the Realm's existence it had been almost completed. In the days that followed, and, with the new nation of Cypria extant, it had been rapidly moved, along with all the other worldgates formerly hosted at Hypatia, to the system of Cypria.

It would be a curiosity for the people of the federation. Rather than arriving at the Realm, they would find themselves on the edge of a very empty system. No planets, no moons, no gas giants - not even an asteroid belt.

There was, however, a construction of absolutely massive scale. A ringworld. Large enough to admit over twenty Jupiters side-by-side, the inner side of the ring radiated immense amounts of energy. Closer observation would reveals ships merrily travelling back and forth, and, should they care to ask the new government, a few basic facts would be revealed. Like the fact that almost eighteen billion people were on the ringworld.

They had not come to their expected location, but, nonetheless, the officials of the Authority had been expecting someone to come through that gate for some time, now.

Greetings in the name of the Authority of Cypria. By your presence in the Oblivion worldgate, we are to assume you hail from the federation? This, therefore, is information you should know. The Realm is now defunct, yet a new organization, the Authority, has taken its place. It is our intent that all treaties thus made with your people should remain as they were, provided you are willing.

"woah, look at the size of that monster!"
"I see it cadet, return to your station." Said the admiral who was just as awed.
"Incoming message."
"Hmm no more Realm eh? well then, send a return message."

From: Admiral Hardforth

Indeed we hail from the federation, we are here to test the worldgates and to ensure that trade is properly instilled between them. Our end of the worldgate is active, so trade and movement of ships may commence at any time. Although should you be sending a large battlefleet please notify the Federation HQ at Antares Space Station of there coming.

We will, of course, trade with you whenever it is convenient. We are unlikely to send military vessels, unless, of course, in the event where you require our aid.

The transmission ended abruptly, and another began, from a different source.

In the meantime, do you have any desire to visit Cypria? As our creation, we love her greatly, and wish to show off her adornments to the universe.

"Sir the new message is from a different source, can we trust it?"
"I don't know cadet." Said the admiral as he stroked his beard thoughtfully.
"What the hell cadet open a comm and request docking or landing coordinates."

The crew of the Independance would much like to visit Cypria, Please if you will send us landing or docking coordinates.

A set of landing co-ordinates sent, they would be able to make their way to Cypria under sublight drive. The worldgate to the federation was only a few hours away from Cypria, and, indeed, only a few hours away from other worldgates. The Oblivion craft would be able to sit near the ringworld, and send down a shuttle from there - or have one sent up to them, if they did not have one onboard.

"Coordinate recived Admiral ETA is one and a half hours, give or take."
"Good job, Cadet have my shuttle readied and Inform Jenkins and ramirez that we are going on shore leave. Have Shepard take over as my XO" The admiral said quietly

"Aye aye sir!"

As their shuttle landed on Cypria, they would see a world - no, not a world, but something very similiar. The great ring had mountains, rivers, and a long-running ocean, much in the same manner as the blue planet that had once been their home. Forests streaked the surface, great constructions dotted it, and cities as well. Cypria had three times the population of old Earth, but over a hundred times the surface area. And, of course, almost all of this area was perfectly livable - unlike Earth. As such, there were few truly major "cities", apart from the trading ports, and the occasional megabuilding, running hundreds of kilometres high.

The communication came again.

I am no governmental agency. Rather, I represent a conglomerate of interests, many of whom are wishing to create trade routes out to the federation. The co-ordinates you have been given will land you before some of the engineered mountains. From there, a slow skimmer craft will take you on a brief tour of some of the ring's artistry, if you so desire it. We merely mean to show you our world's surface. For one, we see her as beautiful. For the second, we are hardly a deceptive or warlike people. This, too, may be shown from our culture.

As the shuttle descended, it landed near a small house. The house, it should be noted, was unique, for it sat between four small hills. The roof of the house, however, matched the angles of the hills - it was a weird roof, at first glance, yet it seemed to fit the hills perfectly, seeming almost as if, were it bigger, it would only just fit in - and snugly, then, between the hills. Beside them, as they landed, sat a skimmer.

It was a jet-blue ovoid craft, a single hole in the side leading in to seats. Once inside, the craft would turn transparent from the inside, and one could quite easily look out on the countryside as it sat.

Vice admiral Hardforth and his two guards exited the shuttle.
"See sir? I told you it would be there." Said Ramirez
"I see it corpral." Said the admiral jumping in.
"Looks like they left us a set of predetermined coordinates." Said jenkins as he looked at the nav screen which read:

Coordinates Set
Auto pilot engaged
Press Ignition to go

The admiral looked at his two guards. They both nodded. The admiral pushed the button and off they went, touring the vast and beautiful scenery of Cypria.

The skimmer roamed over the countryside, from lake to forest, from gleaming crystal formations, set as to show a history of Cypria, and the two nations that had been its forerunners, to a large megabuilding, a single spire extending far into the sky.

It halted before the building, and began to rise. A few kilometres up, it stopped and slipped into the building itself, the skimmer quietly finding itself at a halt.

Outside awaited a single man, dressed in a black waistcoat, and a white shirt. He bowed.

"If you would be so good as to follow me?"
