Embassy of the Kingdom of Imbrinium
1275 Fiumo Viade Parca, Sant'Garzana, Kingsville
Nina Ventresca-Crognale rushed up the steps of the Imbrinian* embassy in Brutland and Norden. Mrs. Crognale is the director of the Brutland and Norden Business Bureau, an agency tasked to promote trade with Brutland and Norden. The bureau is quite new - Parliament had just passed the law establishing what is called the Biure Commerzia di Norden e Marchòbrutellia (BCNMb, Brutland and Norden Business Bureau), and now they had gotten their first customer that fast. Brutland and Norden is going to establish trade relations with the Kingdom of Imbrinium.
She and an aide paced towards the receptionist. "Good morning, I am Nina Ventresca-Crognale, from the Brutland and Norden Business Bureau. I am here for the trade summit... where should I go?"
OOC: *Am I using the correct demonym?

The receptionist stated to Mrs. Nina Ventresca-Crognale good morning the ambassador is expecting you. An IDSS agent (Imbrinium diplomatic security service) good morning my name is agent Learco Greco of the IDSS I will be escorting you to the Ambassadors office. As they walked Agent Greco started small talk with Mrs. Cognate about the customs and her country. You have a very beautiful country. Agent Greco heard over his radio that the ambassador had changed the meeting place from his office to the dining room for breakfast. So agent Greco knocked on the door of the dining hall and the ambassador and staff rose and welcomed Mrs. Crognale. The ambassador walked over to her and took her hand and introduced his self I am Sir Severino Sabbatini the ambassador to your great nation as he kissed her hand. Would you like to join me and my staffs for our morning breakfast I find that a staff that shares the table a least once a day is more intone to each other.

"Sure. Thank you," she said, smiling. The thought of having breakfast, possibly with Imbrinian dishes, excited Nina's stomach. Of course, nothing beats discussion over food and arm drinks.

The Mrs. Crognale may I offer you some apple and mango jam my mother made and sent over to me as a gift? She’s always thinks I’m home sick I guess it’s because I’m gone all the time. I read in this morning’s newspaper that the agriculture sector of your nation has a bumper harvest. My country is always interested in good food, we have also had record year in our fishing season. Lucky for us since our beef stocks took a turn for the worst last summer with a heat wave. The king has given me the go head to buy your products and also hopefully fine something your country needs in return. Does your country have any shortages of anything that we may have to offer? As they ate and discussed the morning news of both countries staff came and went from the table. I take my morning breakfast break longer than some it’s always a great time to sit back a look at the day and place what’s important first. And today it’s our countries futures as partners in trade. So tell me a little about yourself as I look over your countries fact book some more

My country wants to purchase as much corn as and rice as you can grow, we use a lot of it to make Bio-fuels that our nation is gearing up to transfer all of the government vehicles to. Also we are interested in purchasing cheeses we’ve heard that Brutland and Norden’s cheese is the finest in world. And we like to purchase wine our nation loves its wine and also its scotch. Do you produce beef for export? Also apart from food we like to see if we can broker a research deal sharing research and maybe some joint projects. The minister of education wanted me to ask about a student swap program so both of our countries children can see and learn from each other. There are some other issues I would like to discuss with you but you may want to wait till we go to my office the subject is your military, intelligence, and space programs? Most of my staff is trusted and have top secret clearances but I don’t know how you would fill talking about such. Also your power grid and fossil fuels what do you use? And airports for maybe an airline link between our nations well I’ll stop hogging our talk and let you ask some of your nation’s questions about us.

"Thank you," Nina said as she tasted the apple and mango jam.It was good homemade jam, reminding Nina of the watermelon jam her grandmother used to make. "Why your mother makes some nice jam," she told Ambassador Sabbatini. "I remember my mother making watermelon jam from the excess watermelons from my grandfather's farm."
"Brutland and Norden has been producing surpluses for quite a time, so I don't think we have some shortages on that front... except probably for things produced only in your nation, or those that are rare in Brutland and Norden. Some of the vegetables are not that well-known or cannot be grown here, perhaps you can help us out there..."
She looked at the broccoli on the table. Quite common in Brutland and Norden, she thought. Brutland and Norden is awash with broccoli, it has to be their national vegetable.
Her thoughts returned to the ambassador and about the purchases they intend to make. "Thank you," she said as he complimented Nord-Brutlandese cheese. "Speaking of biofuels, we would like to pair up with other nations with more advanced technology when it comes to green energy. Though we are self-sufficient when it comes to biofuels, we would like to wean off our dependence on oil... because our oil would run out soon.
As for the other areas, I believe I am not the right person, but I can refer you to the respective ministries concerned. But I am authorized to talk about trade. Of course, you can place your order for this year at our business bureau, but I'd like to talk about something more long lasting... like a free trade agreement."

Yes, yes I’m sorry to jump so ahead of myself with my rambleings said Ambassador Sabbatini. You must forgive me I’ve been receiving call after call from all the ministies in my nation ask me to ask about this and that. Yes we must at a later time have you bring or setup the persons I need to direct those questions to. Now where were we oh yes free trade agreement. Shall we draw up the guide lines for what we want in the draft? I’ve also ask my secretary to place a call into the Minister of Agriculture Corie Rainard and get a list of the vegetables we have and can grow in are state of the art green houses. Maybe we can broker a deal where we can build the same type of green houses in your country to help out with the vegetable shortage. As for the bio-fuels and green energies would love to share and learn new knowledge about becoming a greener country. We have large amounts of oil in the ground and you our reseves but we want to break from the use of oil and fossil fuels before it becomes a problem to get. How should we go about get this draft for the trade agreement started? I think you should go first one you’re a lady and ladies first second you’re the host nation and the honor should be yours

Nina chuckled. The Imbrinian Ambassador was talkative, though not in a bad way. She loved how words escaped his mouth.
"Actually, we don't have vegetable shortages. We have lots of veggies..." She again glanced at the broccoli. "But yes, we'd like to taste the vegetables Imbrinium has to offer. We need something else aside from broccoli."
"As for the free trade agreement, we are prepared to negotiate the following: free access to markets; free movement of capital; elimination of subsidies on products being traded; reduction and elimination of tariffs on products being traded between our nations; and of course, increasing the competitiveness of our products through sharing technologies and know-how... so what do you think?"
OOC: Perhaps it'd be nicer if you use quotation marks (") around speech made by characters... so it'd be easier to read. ;) If you have any questions, feel free to ask. ;)

Ambassador Sabbatini set back in his chair and rubbed his chin for a minute.
Then he looked up at Mrs. Crognale and smiled “you have yourself a deal.”
Like the ambassador was making a deal on a new car or something, know in his head that this deal affected millions of people in his country and the king trusted him enough to have let him broker this deal.
“Mrs. Crognale I hope this deal turns out to be as great in real life as it does here with us talking, folks have a way of messing things up.”
“I do have one question, sense we are trade nations and hopefully we will become allies, when comes to fossil fuels and national resources our country gives discounts to trade nations and allies, but if we don’t charge tariffs would we still give a discount or just charge the same with the discount?”
The ambassador set back in chair thought about what he just asked Nina.

Nina smiled, slightly surprised that the ambassador's quick assent. "Very well. We'll be drafting a treaty."
"Eliminating tariffs will just eliminate the tax levied on imports. Companies and nations can still give discounts... it depends on the nation."
OOC. Will draft an agreement; it may take some time. :)

“As the ambassador shakes Mrs. Crognale hand”
“You must stop by again for more mango/apple jam Mrs. Crognale. I’ll have my mother make some extra and send if you’d like?”
“One more thing Mrs. Crognale those other future treaties not dealing with trade please contact me or my office with the contacts for those.”
“Have a wonderful Afternoon Mrs. Crognale I hope to see you soon.”

Parliament Approves Free Trade Treaty
April 22, 2008
by Geraldina Biancolli
KINGSVILLE - the Nord-Brutlandese Parliament yesterday ratified the Brutland and Norden – Imbrinium Free Trade Agreement. The treaty garnered the requisite three-fourths majority for approval. The General Court passed the treaty 116-34. The House of Lords sustained the ratification 23-1 later that afternoon. Queen Mother Charlotte II gave the Royal Assent within that day.
Under the Treaty, free trade will be established between the United Kingdom of Brutland and Norden and the Kingdom of Imbrinium, and a commission to aid domestic companies will be set up. Most economists projected that the treaty would “stimulate trade and provide a boon to our economies.”
Yesterday’s voting in the General Court held no surprises with all of the Social Democrats voting against the treaty. MP Anna Maria Treola [PDS: Colfetta, Norden], Deputy Leader of the Loyal Opposition, said that “The Social Democratic Party will continue to oppose any agreements establishing so-called ‘free trade’. This is very disadvantageous to the workers and to the people of Brutland and Norden.” The single Social Democratic Lord in the House of Lords, Jàn Damianelli of Norden, cast the only vote against in the Upper House.
The lone Communist MP Tornessa di Carmolli [PC: Quartelo di Trabbajetto, Norden] joined the Social Democrats is rejecting the treaty, as did the single Green deputy, MP Felice Tartascone [PV: Vilòstresa Sordosta – Tonzivibbia, Union Territories]. However, the numerical strength of the Popular Party, who was united behind the treaty, was enough breach the 113 votes needed to ratify the treaty. They were joined by the lone Nationalist MP in the lower chamber.
“We believe that this is a great step forward in our bilateral relations and in stimulating our economies,” said Commerce Minister and MP Liana Riprostoggione [PP: Brutia Settra, Brutland].

From the Capital
Breaking news today the parliament has voted to ratify a trade treaty between the kingdom of Imbrinium and the United Kingdom of Brutland and Norden this treat passed with almost full bipartisan votes from the parliament which was a first in almost 35 years. With the passing of 180 to 20 in the House of Commons and 175 to 25 in the house of knights. The king is sure to support this treaty since he’s push this issue hard in reset weeks. If the king signs this treaty into affect this will boost the economy of both nations.
The king stated earlier today that this treaty will bring our two great nations closer together and I welcome this treaty with open arms. I must do what is right for my people and I feel this is the right thing to do for our future.
