History
The Beginning: Roma V first started off as the dream of Aerius Quaeus, an Italian Republic general of some renown and greatness. After 23 years in military service General Quaeus retired and lived peacefully for two years. He had watched his country for 45 years as it went through its good times and bad times. But he couldn't shake the feeling that it was bound for greatness the current leaders could not accomplish. So, he ran for Senate and won due to his widespread renown as a successful General and overall likable personality. While serving as a Senator he urged his fellow Senator to give him control of Rome to conduct an experimental form of democracy. After heavy debate and discussion after 3 years the Senate passed his request. The single city nation, known as Roma V was born. The name was given because Rome had passed through greatness 5 times. Once as the Kingdom of Rome, then the Roman Republic, then the Roman Empire, then the Western Roman Empire, and the Italian Republic of the modern day. After some success governing itself, Emperor Quaeus reached out the Italian Republic and asked for an merger. The decision was a it step but it was not long before the Italian Republic became the territory of The Republic of Roma V.
-Today: The current Roma V is still ruled over by Emperor Quaeus and the Roman Senate. Very much a fan of the Roman Republic of old Emperor Quaeus's Republic took on similar traditions. With his wife pregnant with child, the Senate is unsure if Emperor Quaeus will pass the position to his heir, or if he will retire and have elections.

Geography
Topography: Roma V occupies a long, boot-shaped peninsula, surrounded on the west by the Tyrrhenian Sea and on the east by the Adriatic Sea. It is bounded by France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia to the north. The Apennine Mountains form the peninsula's backbone; the Alps form its northern boundary. The largest of its northern lakes is Garda; the Po, its principal river, flows from the Alps on Roma V's western border and crosses the Padan plain to the Adriatic Sea. Several islands form part of Roma V; the largest are Sicily and Sardinia.

Climate: The climate in Roma V is highly diverse and can be far from the stereotypical Mediterranean climate depending on the location. Most of the inland northern areas of Roma V (for example Turin, Milan and Bologna) have a continental climate often classified as Humid subtropical climate. The coastal areas of Liguria and most of the peninsula south of Florence generally fit the Mediterranean stereotype. The coastal areas of the peninsula can be very different from the interior higher altitudes and valleys, particularly during the winter months when the higher altitudes tend to be cold, wet, and often snowy. The coastal regions have mild winters and warm and generally dry summers, although lowland valleys can be quite hot in summer.

Although the Catholic Church is no longer officially the state religion, it still plays a role in the nation's political affairs, partly due to the Holy See's location in Rome. 87.8% of Italians identified as Roman Catholic, although only about one-third of these described themselves as active members (36.8%).

The country's oldest religious minority is the Jewish community, comprising roughly 45,000 people. It is no longer the largest non-Christian group.

As a result of significant immigration from other parts of the world, some 825,000 Muslims (1.4%) live in Roma V, though only 50,000 are Roman citizens. In addition, there are 110,000 Buddhists (0.2%), 70,000 Sikhs, and 70,000 Hindus (0.1%) in Roma V.

Military
Roma V's military consists of three main branches. The Roman Legion (Ground warfare), the Marina Militare (Naval Warfare), Aeronautica Militare (Air warfare), and Carabinieri (Military Police/Gendarmerie). Most of the military comes from the merger with the Italian Republic and so few changes have been made due to decreased spending in Defense.

The Roman Legion
Branches off into the Special Operations Tactical Unit (SOTU), Roman Foreign Legion (Peacekeeping forces for foreign nations and guards for Roman embassies), National Defense (National Guard), Mechanized Regiments, Roman Legionaries, and various other smaller branches.

Altogether the Roman Legion's manpower is over 115,000 active duty personnel and a large number of ground vehicles.

Marina Militare
Currently has over 35,261 ships of every type with a large number of Roman men and women to serve as the crew to these grand vessels that protect Roma V's waters.

Aeronautica Militare
Currently has the manpower of 45,879 men and women that dutifully patrol the skies above over Roman's heads. It currently operates 585 aircraft, 219 combat jets, and 114 helicopters of all kinds.

Carabinieri
Has a main branch known as the Specialist Mobile Unit Command which branches off into The Mobile Unit Division, The Specialist Unit Division, and the Special Operational Group (Also known as the ROS). There is also a smaller main branch of the Special Tasks Departments (Presidential Guard and other VIP guards).

Politics
Roma V categorizes itself as a Representative Democracy. The government is organized as the Emperor being the main figure of power. Then the Senate, and the many Departments and Ministries follow after them. The Senate is the will of the people in Roma V as it was in the Roman Republic ages ago. All decisions from the various branches must go through the Senate first before being approved then going to the Emperor who finalizes them. The Emperor however can veto a decision and send it back to the Senate where the Emperor's disagreements with it are considered and voted on. If the Senators agree with the Emperor's changes they are made and returned to him. If not the Senate must have 2/3 vote to veto the Emperor's veto and forcefully pass the decision. Military acts must also pass Senate approval in the same manner.

Local government controlled by the magistrates can pass bills to the Senate from the people if it is in the interest of the populace or the Magistrate himself. The Senate then votes on the bill and if they feel it works towards the benefit of the people it is voted on and passes through majority rule.
