"Kayora we have need of you" A man in a pure white suit walked out of the shadows of the young womans room and stepped into the shaft of sunlight coming through the window. the sunlight illuminating the pleasant features of his face.

Kayora sat up in her bed and turned to face the man "Yes Calno?" she asked simply. she had never questioned anything Calno had told her but the woman in read that was sometimes with him she didn't trust as completely

"Kayora the bandits are once again setting up a camp in the forest" his tone was sad as though he genuinely wished they would stop threatening the peace of there village "the village elders hate to ask this of you. but would you once again rid of lands on these brigands so we can live in peace?"

"of course Calno for you anything" she gave him a pleasant smile having been forbidden to hug him as would have normally done. before exiting her room and gathering the presented weapons of a javelin, a short bow, and a light sword and shield. she strapped on the equipment and settling the bits of armor provided gave a jaunty salute and launched herself into the air.

"i don't know why you insist on carrying on this fantasy farce Micheal" the woman in red said from where she was sitting at the table idly picking at one of the flowers in the vase

"i told you never to call me that here Aiath" he said turning on her "it's Calno and this fantasy world was the most readily accepted by her mind from all the different worlds we tried on her. so the fantasy world stays"

"you do know its a less accurate representation"

"yes but we've been getting far superior results and thats whats important"

All personnel clear stations neural control being transfered to unit GINX-001 prep the Melee pack load assault riffle and ready the missile mount.

Operational clearance a go... the GINX is launching

Kayora glided over the forest searching the ground for The bandit camp she had been told about it was up to her to flush them out and hopefully convince them to never return she fought because she had to for the defense of the village not because she enjoyed causing pain on others.

she was keeping her eyes on the ground letting her senses and instinct guide her search. there was no feeling like the air rushing across her skin as she flew through the open sky the warm sun shining on her. she suddenly paused as a couple of the trees below her flashed different colours for a moment before returning to normal

in a dimly lit room filled with computer screens several men started scrambling there fingers flying across keys entering line after line of diagnostic code

"someone want to tell me what the hell that was?"

"where are checking now sir. but it would appear to be a minor software glitch"

"software glitch? the system was supposed to be isolated"

"it is. we are trying to get a better idea of what happened"

"what about the subject?" he turned to face a window into the next room holographic vital signs displayed along the bottom edge. the window looked into a small room where a young woman lay on a table seemingly unconscious with numorus wires and cables coming from various parts of her body primarily one anchored to the base of her skull

"no change in vitals or connectivity other than the multi colour tree's theres no sign anythings wrong"

"you know thats even more disturbing that a massive failure because we don't know what the hell is wrong" he looked back through the window at the girl lying ever peacefully on the table

Kayora stared at the trees for a moment longer before moving on dropping to the ground to search through the trees more closely. as she walked around on her search it slowly began clouding over until the sky had turned black and the wind had picked up

"now whats going on... its supposed to be clear and sunny?"

"something gotten into the program. we can't seem to isolate it"

"Track it find out what its after we need enough warning if we are gonna safely pull the plug" they had only had to do it a couple of times and then usually for hardware upgrades due to the subjects growing body but she had no memory of this because since she was hooked right into the main system they where in control of what she remembered and even insert memory's

as the weather continued to worsen it started raining and there was the odd thunder clap which actually scared her making her heart rate increase as she huddled under a tree to avoid the rain she hated the thunder and being wet and now she was out in both and she wasn't liking it with every thunderclap startling her

the vital sign monitors started beeping due to the increase in heart rate and other physical signs of stress and anxiety
"can you stop it or not?"

"no sir. whoever programed it knew what they where doing. its rewriting its self as it moves through the system"

"pull the plug!"

"I'm trying to sir its no-- SHIT" a static discharge pulsed through the keyboard right before arcing between the consoles shorting out monitors casing sparks to fly everywhere further illuminating the room with the occasional bright flash as a monitor blew

Kayora screamed as a flash of lightning hit close to her flinching at the immediate thunder that went with it

"some one get in there yank it manually!" it wasn't the best option as there was the risk of damage to the subjects neural pathways but it was a damn sight better than having her brain cooked by an electrical overload

Someone ran into the room as the girl started visibly thrashing on the table matching her movements in the program

She screamed again as another strike hit near her again she took off running the lightning strangely seeming to following her as she ran

in the room the man was struggling to manually shut it down but couldn't get close enough with arcing electricity and sparks flying all over the place

Kayora jumped backwards and fell down screaming as lightning hid right in front of her she huddled in the fetal position for a moment before looking up to see a bolt of lighting coming right at her.

she sat up screaming as the wall of the room she was in exploded sending the man that was there flying into the opposite wall. she screamed again as 6 men ran into the room through the smoke and dust. 2 started clipping wires an cables while 2 watched the hole they had come in and the remaining 2 fired there rifles into a window shattering the glass. she cold hear screams coming from the other side but couldn't see who it was

"Secondary cables cut sir!"

"good pull the primary and lets get out of here"

there was a sharp pain as someone pulled at something at the back of her head that almost caused her to black out but instead left her very dizzy and disoriented as she was picked up by one of the 6 men who then ran out of the hole into a hallway.

there was more gunfire as they ran through the hallways. the men where shouting things back and fourth but she couldn't make out what they where saying but by there urgency she could tell they where in a hurry.

the group burst through a set of doors and were outside where after some more bursts of gunfire she was roughly thrown into a van followed by 4 of the men as the other 2 got into the drivers and passengers seats before taking off. she could hear the sounds bullets impacting the outside of the van as they sped off.

"we did it we got her!"

"shut yer hole we haven't gotten away yet"

"are you kidding with the way jimmy drives we are scott fr--" the van suddenly started spinning out of control as something impacted with it "Shiit"

"Jimmy whats happening!"

"sniper must have shot out a rear tire! if we can make it across the bridge we will be ok though"

"good good good good the forest after that corner should give us enough cover to escape the sniper fire"

they continued on for another moment or two in tense silence Kayora was still lying groggily on the floor still not fully recovered from being unplugged so abruptly, not that she knew thats what had happened, she just knew that she had been hit by lightning and woke up in a room full of wires and cables, had a wall blow up and was now in a metal carriage going who knows where and if she could just clear her head she would just fly out of here and figure out where she was

"there it is theres the bridge we made it" the first man spoke up again almost chearing but it was premature... as soon as they started turning to cross the bridge another tire was blown out sending the van slamming into the railing and over the edge into the river below killing or seriously injuring the men when it hit the bottom of the very shallow river Kayora being more or less relaxed and lying on the floor remained largely unhurt due to dumb luck more than anything although she did break a arm not that she could tell from all the shock she was in.

the sudden shock of cold water on her face woke her up enough to see that the rear door had been knocked open and water was rapidly filling the inside sure to drown everyone. she forced herself up and out of the van only to be carried down the river by the current not being able to swim against it due to her weakened state only to wash up tired and exhausted on a riverbank somewhat farther down stream.

((ooc: feel free to find her lying on the riverbank. just keep in mind she looks very strange from normal society... she has a bunch of severed cables sticking out from her arms legs and back a large jack on the back of her head lavender purple hair with electric blue streaks randomly though it and a barcode tatoo on her bare shoulder. deffinatly not normal))

Jade had just gotten off work for the day, she was in her car and already several blocks from the office. She was waiting at a red light when her cell began to ring in her purse. With the light still red she started looking for it, it took her a couple seconds but she found it. She flipped it open and pressed the answer button "Hello?" she asked putting it up to her ear as the light turned green and she continued driving.

"Jade, it's Bruce we have reports of gun fire in district eight I know your off duty but can you head over there? you our closest person"

"Yeah sure, but so help me god if you don't pay me over time for this"

"Alright, Alright, don't worry you'll get your over time pay"

"Good, I'll have a initial report in soon, bye for now Bruce" she said hanging up the phone. She then went right to the next intersection and cut the corner sharply. She was going as fast as she could legally go, she knew she had to get there before the police to get any good information. Before long she reached the right place and she parked a block away, grabbed her camera and locked her vehicle "Now lets see what Bruce was talking about" she said as she ran down the street. She turned the corner and right there was the scene "My god what the hell happened here?" she said as she began taking pictures with her camera.

"I am getting to old for this shit" thought Hawk to himself already breathing hard and only 2kms into his run. "these days I could probably just slack off and get the hospital to pick up the bill. But I guess its a pretty nice place to run and anyway It keeps me in shape."
He ran on keeping his head up and leaning slightly forward. He really just wasn't feeling it today and thought about turning back, spending some time on the range and then running through a combat session with the sparring bot in his basement but figured that he'd better finish the run first. "Otherwise," he thought, "Ill never convince myself to do it again and it'll all head down from there."
He kept running on and was approaching a curve in the river. He heard A dull boom and before his mind could process it he found himself rolling for cover into the nearest bush. "Jesus," Hawk said incredulously . "That was fucking sniper fire!". He took a couple of breaths under cover then moved out from under the bush. "Ya, it was sniper fire, he thought but it was a ways off. Probably just some idiot civilian who got a hold of one of the military issue sniper rifles. Oh well I guess its good to know that iv still got my reflexes." Feeling a little sheepish he dusted himself off and was about to start running again when he heard a second crash. This time not weapons fire but something else.
"ok that wasn't sniper fire. He thought to himself and I'm guessing that the first shot wasn't just some civilian either. Course this would be the one time I'm not carrying. O well, better go check it out." moving back into cover hawk walked slowly and quietly up the river to where he had heard the sounds. About 100 meters up river he came across the van. It was a complete wreck and it didn't look like anything could have survived whatever it had been through. "Damn." he said flatly as he saw the shot out back tire.
"So thats what the sniper shot was. I wonder why?" he asked out loud not expecting an answer. Even so he got one from inside the back of the truck the was a low moan. Startled out of his skin for the second time in ten minutes Hawk just Stared at the truck. "No way." he said in a low whisper but the waded fast towards the truck and pried open the rear doors. In the middle of the back compartment he saw her. She was lying unconscious in the middle of the truck bed and she looked distinctly odd with wires sticking out of her and with her oddly coloured hair. "What the hell? She cant be more than 20 who would do this kinda thing to a person of that age?" He thought and then his compassion turned to dull rage as he saw the man sprawled across her legs and the corporation made assault rifle he was carrying. Moving over to the girl he checked for a pulse found one and did a cursory check of her injury's. He was never a medic but Hawk had received some medical training and he could tell that while at least one leg was broken there were internal injuries and her spine and neck were unharmed. "Damn I can't take her to a hospital. Most of them are run by these damn corporate bastards. guess I'll bring her back to my place and see if I can get her medical help there. At least theres a medic kit there and a splint for her leg." Hawk thought. He grabbed the assault rifle and checked it and its cartridge over. He then put it on safe and slung it over his back. Leaning down he picked her up gently and carried her back towards his house.

Jade was quietly moving around the scene when she spotted hawk and the girl, she raised her camera and took several photo's of the two and the truck. Then she could hear sirens in the distance "damnit if the police find me they will take every thing I have, well better follow my only lead" she whispered to her self, she quickly ran back to her car using the back alleys to escape detection of the police. She started her car and then gave chase to Hawk but made sure it didn't look like she was following him.

Hawk Heard the sound of a car behind him but thought nothing of it as he continued to carry the Girl back towards his house. The second time he heard it, though, he became more suspicious. Turning his head slightly and without stopping he looked backwards and saw a distinctive looking women with black hair and green eyes in the car. turning his head forward again hawk headed slightly more to the side of the road and in as casual a gesture as possible flicked the safety to the off setting on the gun slung over his back.

"Mr. Gothart... we have a problem" Dr. Reynolds hated that he had to even make this report.. the project was supposed to be classified how the hell the people at Stamtech international found out he would never know

"yes Dr Reynolds. what is it?" the man was sitting behind his desk his back turned towards the doctor so all he saw as the back of the chair as Mr. Gothart stared out the window

"theres been an attack on on of our research sites" the doctor was clearly worried about Mr. Gothart's reaction to this news

"what site?"

"site 419"

"what!" Micheal spun around and stood up in a rage "what happened!"

"we haven't gotten details yet but preliminary reports say a team forcibly assaulted the complex..."

"is the project secure?"

"no sir..."

"damn it!" he slammed his fist on the desk "what happend!!"

"apparently a virus was planted and forced a disconnect... the team timed there strike to coincide with the disconnect..."

"what the hell have you people been doing! do you realize what might have happened had i still been connected via the game portal?... tell me Kayora is secure..."

there was a tense silence that spoke louder than anything the doctor could have said "we already have teams out to investigate"

"Find her!" Micheal yelled as a dismissal "find her or its your ass thats taking the fall for this not me!"

out near the bridge 3 black suv's russhed passed one stopping on the bridge while the others continued to the complex. at the bridge 4 men got out 3 of them scrambling down the back to investigate the van. they scrambled all over it checking the remaining bodies for any clue of who they where

"is she there?" the leader on the bridge called down

"no Sir. theres no sign of her" one of the men called up

the leader slamed his fist on the hood "damn it" he pulled out his cell and punched the number "we found the van... shes not here... there all dead... no identifying marks.. suspecting STI from the weapons make... understood... pile in we are joining the other teams" he called down to the men in the river

Street

All the jostling from being carried by a running man had slowly shaken Kayora out of her unconscious stupor and as she became aware of her surroundings... she freaked out struggling against the mans hold she started screaming "put me down!" she screamed "Let me go!" she screamed again "Calno! save me!" she struggled some more finally falling to the ground screaming in pain this time as she hit her broken leg

Pain was something new to her she had never got hurt before sure she'd fallen and hit things had things hit her but she never felt pain from it

"Damn!" thought Hawk. First the car now this. O well two birds with one stone and all that. Turning towards the car that was following him Hawk brought The rifle he was carrying up to firing position with one hand and made a stopping motion with the other while totally ignoring the girl writhing in pain on the ground.

Even though she saw a gun she slowed down, hid her camera and rolled down her window, she pulled up in front of him "Can I help you? you were waving me down" she said before she saw the girl "My god what happened to her?" she said with a shout. She was of course playing dumb but being a investigative reporter you had to get good at it to get your self out of tight situations.

"She was in the crash back there. Now she's probably Corporation "property" but I have a problem with that so your going to be driving her and me to my place so I can get her proper medical care. Oh and by the way," Hawk said "that camera your trying to hide from me? I'm gonna want the film from that. Come on even I know you. Your Jade Salarus the Reporter and I'm guessing you know something I don't about that accident at the bridge." He then turned back to the Girl on the ground who was rapidly approaching unconsciousness and picked her up as gently as possible while holding the rifle one handed. Damn He though now I remember why I like my pistol better as his arms strained to hold both the girl and the gun

The one of the pictures she just took she put in a secret pouch at the bottom of her purse. "Na no disguise is needed I'm just rather good with faces" Said Hawk as he striped down the assault rifle and began to throw the parts into the woods. That only took around 30 seconds after which he turned back to the car and put the girl in the back then climbed in himself. "Go about 1 km straight up this road and you'll see what looks like an old foot path that hasn't been used in a while. follow it and Well be at my house.

Street

Kayora slipped into unconsciousness to the odd sound of the approaching sirens and didn't remember being placed in the back of the car or anything else until she woke up again whenever that would be

"You better be right about this" she said locking the doors and putting the car in gear. She pushed right down on the gas pedal with her foot and the car quickly accelerated. When she saw the old path coming up she hit the break and turned the car, not the best environment to drift a car but it worked. She then continued on the old road until she reached the end of it at the mans house. she pulled the car up in front of the place and stopped the car and turned it off. She grabbed her purse and stepped out of the car "Let's get her inside" she said looking up at the sky "Looks like it might rain soon that should cover the tire tracks up on this old road" she then noted.

From the outside The house looked like little more than a shack. Hawk Lifted the girl again and then headed towards the house. "O don't worry about th tracks" he said turning back to the reporter. "I'v got a nice little system in place to cover them up." As he spoke two bushes that were on either side of the foot path shifted over in front of it. "from the outside It'll look like theres no path there. Believe me I spent a good month on it now lets get her inside." Hawk Finished and then walked to the door with the girl in his arms.

For a second Jade thought she should jump back in her car and escape but she felt she could get more information by sticking around. She locked her car and then followed the man to the shack that he called a house "this place looks like a run down ice fishing shack" she thought to her self as she walked close behind them up to the front door.

"we interrupt your regular programing to bring you this special news flash.

earlier this evening there was an incident at the Gothart Industries Research complex sources report that several employees have been killed with many more injured and at least one reported missing" an edited picture Of Kayora was displayed on the screen edited to look like a normal person other than her strange hair and eye colour but strangely there was no name listed "i anyone has seen her please contact the number displayed on the screen. we will have more on the news at 11 and now back to our regular programing"

the commercial for GI's online Virtual Reality fantasy game ended and the regular show resumed

"don't question me Lindsy." Micheal shot back "we need her back and the fastest way is to get the publics help."

"you not concerned about how Stamtech is going to respond to this?" she examined her fingernails from where she was reclining the office couch

Micheal poured himself an other shot of scotch and downed that one as well then refilling his class turned to face Lindsy "Stamtech already knows or this wouldn't have happened.. damn it all how did it happen the whole project was supposed to be a secret"

"We can just replace her you know"

"do you want to volantear?" his tone was serious

her face blanked she knew full well how dangerous the operation was never mind the mental trauma of actually being hooked up. they had gone though 26 prior candidates before finding "Kayora" the ones that had survived the surgery when crazy after being plugged in in a most unpleasant fashion

"i didn't think so" he finished his glass and walked out of the room i just hope we find her before stamtech does. god only knows what they will do with her

"Alright just down here," said Hawk gesturing to a dark set of stairs heading down. As he went down he flipped on the lights with his elbow and illuminated a rather large and well lit area with a two doors and some beaten up furniture. Going through the door on the left Hawk flipped another switch illuminating this time a short corridor with two doors in it. Going again to the door on the left Hawk opened it up into a small but top of the line medical facility with what looked to be an automated Med bot. Hawk put The girl down on the bed then turned to the computer. and typed a couple of commands. Turning to Jade he said "Sorry about all that but I was kinda worried about her having something more critical wrong with her than I thought. The bot will diagnose and heal as much as it can. Now we haven't been introduced. My name is Owen Hawk may I offer you a tour?

The med bot had to run its scans several time in its attempts to diagnose the girls medical problems the broken leg and collection of cuts scrapes and bruises where simple enough to diagnose, nut the first scan also showed Massive cranial trauma and multiple impaled objects witch did not match her otherwise stable vital signs it took 2 more scans as well as a detailed search though its medical database and finally through its current list of cybernetic implants there were publicly available before determining that she had multiple "unknown" implants which it listed as inoperable and proceeded to repair the broken leg

"Might as well, seems this place is a good hiding spot, We have to keep her here she belongs to one of the companies involved back there, then again the companies own everything now a days, even the government is the companies, thats why no one can go against them there to powerful" Jade said from the door way of the medical room.

"yep thats pretty much what I was thinking." Said Hawk. "Those corporations aren't too fond of me either. I spoke out against them at the end of the last war and some of them got slightly ticked. Thats part of the reason I built this place. Anyway lets give you that tour."
Walking out of the Med room Hawk gestured down the corridor. "Down there is my Pistol range, Gym and weight room. Feel free to use them if you want but if your gonna be using the Range tell me first. In the gym theres a combat bot. Before you fight him your gonna want to set his level down a bit. I overrode the lockout a while ago and set him to 15. Which is as high as he will go. If you've got no training set him to one or two. No higher than five for the first time. Ok, through here is the living space and the armory." Hawk walked back into the room with the furniture and went through the door on the right. It led to a Large room with some nice furniture, two desks with computers, a large screen TV and a pool table in the middles of the room. There were also four doors leading out of the room. Hawk went to the one on the immediate left of the room. It was a good sized bedroom with a full on suite bathroom and another Tv. "this is where you'll be sleeping." Said Hawk. "I'm sorry but for the moment your gonna have to stay here. I cant really trust you enough to not publish the location of this place and if you did that the girl and I would both be in serious trouble. I used to have a . . . .women friend here. She was about your size her clothes might fit you their in the closet in there otherwise well work something out." Moving back out of the room before she had a chance to reply Hawk opened the second door. It was nearly the same as the first bedroom but with a second door at the far end. "this is my room, said Hawk and through that second door is the armory. Don't try to get through that door without me. Its . . . .interestingly trapped. " Moving out of the room he opened the door that was directly across from where they had come in. through it there was a largish kitchen and further on a large dining room. Closing that door Hawk went to the far right of the room and opened it into another bed room. "thats about the place," said Hawk "theres a couple of exits I didn't show you but thats basically it. O by the way theres a disguised garage further on. I'm gonna go move your car into it. Feel free to take a look around. Oh any questions?"

in a dark room a mans fingers drummed on a desk the 2 men facing him clearly tense. the hand moved in to the light of the holo display showing images of the failed attack on the GI research complex and cycled over to the next image. "i was assured the operation would be a success." he cycled to the next image "i was told the plan was flawless" his calm tone made his words all the more disterbing because you could tell if he ever did loose his coo you did not want to be in the same city as him let alone the same room "would you care to explain how such a carefully planed operation could fail so dramatically?"

there was a tense silence before one of the men spoke up "our informant failed to mention the sniper on the roof..."

"and you didn't even consider to possibility of additional security than what was known about?"

"no sir."

there was an echoing gunshot and the man crumpled to the floor "forgivin." the man behind the desk said as he set the pistol down "congratulations on your promotion. now it falls to you to correct the mistake."

"yes sir. i will locate the girl and bring her in."

after finishing mending and bandaging the leg the med-bot injected Kayora some pain killers and switched to monitor mode keeping an eye on her vitals ready to alert if there was any change witch didn't take long. the slight change in brainwaves signaling that she was starting to wake up.

"Questions? no but I should send a false report into my boss within the next few days otherwise he will think something is up and the entire corporation will be on me, Hmm oh heres a good one, wheres the bathroom" she asked since there obviously had to be one around some where. Looking around she thought the place wouldn't be to bad of a place to stay for awhile. Hopefully she could build his trust and get back into the investigation into what happened back there and more importantly now, who was this girl.

Hawk walked back towards the gym. As he Walked by the med room he heard the sounds of someone beginning to stir. He opend the door and walked in.

Kayora slowly opened her eyes the violet colour shimmering slightly in the bright light that was directly above her. for a moment she thought she might be lying in a field somewhere but then what was digging into her back and her head.

she sat up and put a hand to her head feeling the rush from sitting up to fast. she squeezed her eyes shut and shook her head to clear the feeling but it was still a few moments before her head cleared and she opened her eyes. suddenly she realized she wasn't sitting in a field her eyes darting around the room the utter strangeness of it. the flashing lights on the wall the strange lights on the roof. the entire scene was almost more then she could take in at once she squeezed her eyes shut again and willed the scene away but it was still there when she opened them.

she was in the middle of taking a calming breath to relax when she noticed a black cord hanging from her wrist she pulled her hand away from her face to get a better look at it she stared in confusion for a moment the raised her other hand to try and pull it off when she noticed a similar cord hanging from her other wrist.

now she was slightly worried again she grabbed one of them and gave a slight tug to see if it would come off but all she got was a pulling sensation on her wrist. she pulled a little harder this time getting a slight pain witch made her want it off all the more she tugged harder crying out in pain she wrapped the cord around her free hand and tugged as hard as she could this time screaming out in pain again... it was then she noticed the ones in her fore and upper arms as well as on her legs.. she started batting at them trying to knock them off or something when she felt the ones on her back move.

she went very quiet and her eyes went wide as she reached around to her back and slowly felt her back... she reached as far up as she could go then reached over her shoulder and fearing the worst followed the cords from her shoulders up her neck to the back of her head... if her eyes could have poped out of her head the would have... she started thrashing around trying to knock everyone of them off or pull them off accidentally making herself fall off the medical bed.

"Who's Calno?" She asked as Hawk entered the room, she put her hand out to stop Hawk from getting any closer as to not frighten the girl further. First she wanted to find out what the girl knew and thought was true and compare that to what they knew and could figure out.

Crash? her mind raced through recent memory's and came up with nothing right off. the last thing she remembered was being hit by lightning and then waking up here with all these strange things connected to her.

"Don't touch me! Get away from me! Calno!" she tried to get farther away from them but she was already trapped in the opposite corner. Tears started rolling down her cheeks from the emotional load "why wont you answer me" she almost sobbed. she was still to scared and confused to actually cry

how could they not know who Calno was... everyone knew him and was always there when she needed him... but why wasn't he there now?

Hawk stood by watching the two talk. Given time to make a closer examination of the girl he had time to examine the various cords coming out of her. It looked so familiar. Damn where do I know those from Thought Hawk to himself.

the village had been her life and the only part of the world she interacted with except for when she went out to protect the village from bandits. the village didn't officially exist int he game world in fact it was the other way around the game was part of her world after all if you have the server and the 3D environment why not make money off of it.

the 2 might be part of the same world but the village was isolated by natural barriers this was done intentionally to keep her from finding anything out about the real world even if she was the games Goddess.

She wasn't surprised that they didn't know where Dieno was because other than Calno and sometimes Aiath they never had outside visitors. the villages merchant sometimes went on trips for supplies "whats to describe. its a simple village we have a black smith, a mill, a small market and other than the houses thats really about it... oh and the shrine but com-pu-ter? whats a computer?" she had no idea what they where talking about with computers and not knowing what one was made it so she had less of a chance of even imagining what it had to do with her

When she got out of the room she went to her room and got her cell phone out and pressed one of the speed dial buttons. It called the guy she knew instantly without any problems "Hello?" came the voice from the other side.

Jade then hung up her phone and then went back to talk with the two of them. She walked back in and sat down "He is on his way, about ten minutes, then we might be able to get those cables out of you Kayora"

Kayora nodded a little apprehensively considering how much it had hurt when she had tried to pull them off on her own. she curled her knees up tighter against herself and shivered just a little while scratching her shoulder that had the bar code tattoo on it. the cloths she was wearing only designed to cover certain parts while leaving the connections exposed not for warmth as she had been kept in a climate controlled room and keeping war wasn't a concern.

Overhead a GI helicopter buzzed overhead on its way to the complex the strange noise startling Kayora

"we'll be landing in a few moments Ma'am" the pilot called back to its passengers as he adjusted his heading to line up with the complexes roof top landing pad

On the ground below there where at least 4 ambulances that she could see a half dozen police cars as well as the 3 GI SUVs with the additional security personnel on site

Lindsy Allendale stepped out of the chopper as it landed not waiting for it to shut down. walking out the greet the facility's director along with the detective in charge .the pair had aparently been haveing a heated argument before she arived

"Dr. Kashman, Detective" she didn't bother introducing herself her face and name being well known enough for introductions to be a waist of time "what seems to be the problem here."

"its Detective Peterson,"the detective began "Dr. Kashman refuses to allow any of my men into the actual crime scene. how can we be expected to do any kind of proper investigation if we aren't allowed to see the actual scene instead of going on what your people tell us."

Lindsy would have liked to keep the police out of this but a private citizen had phoned in the noise of automatic gunfire that was the result of the teams escape along with the van going off the bridge. Dr. Kashman just gave her a knowing look they both knew what was at stake and what would happen if the truth got out

"Let me speak with Dr. Kashman in private for a moment" she told the detective "I'll see if can work something out" the pair then walked aways away until they where out of ear shot "how the hell did this happen!" she asked in a harsh whisper

"the only explanation i have is that we got a rat" She started "theres no other explanation. its almost imposable to link anything else to the neural link project and even if you could theres no way to prove it existed. the only possible connection is the game but thats solely because they share the same world"

"with the medical nature of that table and the other equipment not likely we might be able to pass it off as the theft of some medical equipment but any anyalist worth his salt would see right through that"

"even with doctoring the photo put out to hide the plugs its going to be plainly clear that shes not just an employee if anyone does find her"

"i know" was the only answer she could come up with. she was just banking on the lack of a name to provide them with some sort of cover if that happened. there where only 3 people who knew her real name and they had removed all her records for every system they could think of fingerprints dental DNA everything was gone. the only way to find out who she was is the one in a billion chance someone recognized her.

Hawk walked back to the third room and got a blanket and some clothes as well as some food and an instant hot chocolate that he prepared in 30 seconds in the kitchen then walked back and dropped them all off with Jade. Then hawk went to the armory and grabbed his match pistol and went upstairs and up to the path leading to the road. He positioned himself in the undergrowth where he couldn't be seen from the road but could see any approaching vehicles and waited.

When Jade got close enough she Snatched the offered blanked and sweater out of her hands as they where the only items she recognized and inched away from jade. they may have seemed like nice people but she still didn't completely trust that they weren't responsible for what had happened and here just trying to gain her trust.

it was good the the sweater ended up being over sized as she stuck her arms into the sleeves then pulled i over her head. the cables pulled on her ams and back from being constricted but at first glance you couldn't see them except for the obvious bulges where they pressed against the cloth on her arms and back. she wrapped the blanket around her self now completely covered using part as a sort of hood

you would think she was just a normal girl now except for the fact she was hiding under a desk and bits of her strangely coloured hair where sticking out from under her blanket/hood. she didn't touch the offered food not knowing what it was even if the beverage did have an appealing aroma.

Kayora remained under the desk and just held her wrist out from under her bundled blanket using her free hand to keep the closed so she could stay warm.

as she held out her wrist the remaining length of cable draped over the side of her arm clearly showing the locking plug and socket. it would be a simple matter to unplug them all once the plug type had been identified the only reason they had been cut instead of unplugged was the time needed to unplug all 18 cables (2 in each leg 3 on her arms and 8 on her back) it was simply faster you cut them all and yank the primary jack from her head. the primary was currently hidden from view by both the blanket and her hair

When the new person moved in closer she instinctively huddled back in the the corner but still kept her wrist out so he could look. it wasn't that she was normally afraid of people it was more the fact that everything was so strange. nothing made sense there cloths this room the lights the fact that she ad no idea how she had gotten here or even where here was had her on edge.

when he mentioned about twisting the plug she just stared at her wrist for a moment and then gave him a quizzical look "umm... twist what?" her memory's told her that the first time she had ever seen anything like this when she had woken up on that table a few moments ago. she had no idea what he was talking about, connectors... twist locks... everything was making less and less sense. she just held her wrist close to her face looking at it she didn't dare touch it considering how hard she had pulled and how much it hurt that and the skin around it was turning a slightly purple colour from bruising it with her pulling... not that she knew what a bruise was.

"If you don't mind Miss would you allow my self or Jade here to try and take one off?" She said pointing to Jade as he referred to her. He found it extremely odd she didn't know what he was talking about a single bit but he didn't think any thing of it at the current moment.

"uh... alright" he held out wrist again causing the blanket to shift uncovering the one on her fore arm as well. she would let them check the one on her wrist for now to see how well it went with the removal of the cord. her wrist was shaking slightly from the nerves and she had no idea what to expect and was tansed to yank hr wrist back at the slightest thing

Jade slowly moved closer as not to alarm Kayora, she crouched down in front of her gently putting one hand under her wrist for support. She moved her other hand to the base of the cable near the skin and took hold of it. With a firm grip she gave it a slight twist to the left, when it moved a tiny bit she began to twist it more but nothing came of it, the thing would not move. Jade didn't try to force it as it would cause Kayora more pain then she needed. When it wouldn't come off Jade turned to Andrew "Pocket knife, Now!" she ordered him. He pulled one out of his pocket and tossed it to her. She caught it and opened it up and began cutting the cable at the base, she may not be able to take it off but she could make it less noticeable. Once it was removed she backed off and handed the cable to Andrew "I suggest you figure out why they won't come off"

She moved her other hand to the base of the cable near the skin and took hold of it. With a firm grip she gave it a slight twist to the left, when it moved a tiny bit she began to twist it more until she heard the click Andrew mentioned. She then pulled it slowly and tossed it back over to Andrew "The base unit should come right out correct Andrew?" Jade asked "Yes, once the connector is unlocked the base unit lets go of the skin allowing it to be removed, when you remove it there will be a small amount of blood but you'll be able to wipe it away" he responded "Oh and you might feel a pinching sensation young lady"

"Well, here goes nothing" Jade said slowly removing the base unit from Kayora and placing it on the ground, she then used her finger to wipe away the small amount of blood that came out. the entire thing took maybe a minute or two.

"think you can take the rest out now?" Jade asked tossing the base over by the cable she had tossed "Andrew get analyzing what there for" she asked him but it sounded more like a order "Yeah I'll get on it, once the young lady has them all out"

Watching the Plugs come out but the Ports stay in suddenly reminded Hawk of what he'd been trying to remember ever since he saw the girl. "Jesus, They can't have!" he exclaimed then stopped as he saw the startled reaction from the girl and Andrew. "sorry." he said quietly, "I'll explain later."

Jade slowly moved closer as not to alarm Kayora, she crouched down in front of her gently putting one hand under her wrist for support. He pulled one out of his pocket and tossed it to her. She caught it and opened it up and began cutting the cable at the base, she may not be able to take it off but she could make it less noticeable. Once it was removed she backed off and handed the cable to Andrew "I suggest you figure out why they won't come off"

Kayora almost freaked out when when jade clicked the knife open but before she could react the cable had been cut right above the actual plug wich jade had been unable to remove.

Kayora took a few calming breaths if jade had wanted to harm her she probably would have but it was clear now that jade anyway meant her no harm. after relaxing to her previous wary state she began looking at the plug again. there was something familiar about what jade had just tried to do.

using her other hand and uncovering more cables on her arms she started examining the offending one at first she just ran her thumb around the base then she mimicked what jade had done getting the same result of nothing "no thats not right..." she mumbled "its.." then no knowing exactly why she pinched the end pressed it in and then twisted it and the plug came off with a little pop almost as if it was loaded for a disconnect once the lock had been released.

she grinned a little in pride for figuring it out holding the end up as a sort of trophy but then her eyes went wide as she caught a look a her wrist again the connection clearly visible on her skin "no..." she started pushing at it with her thumb "no. no. noo..." her actions quickly became frantic again "it wont come off!" she was clawing at her wrist "you said it would come off!" the scratches where starting to draw blood especially from where her nails dug in near where the connection was but she didn't notice or care

"At least the plug came off" Jade said picking it up off the ground and tossing it to Andrew "Andrew mind explaining why the base won't come off" Jade said visibly annoyed that he let Kayora down. He picked up the plug and examined it and the cable "Hmm if it wouldn't come out it means it's still attached to living tissue, damn corporate bastard either that base unit has a separate procedure for removing it, or its there to stay unless surgically removed"

"Can't say for sure any more, but if I bring my equipment in I should be able to find out what kind of signals it sends and receives but I can already tell you this thing was rigged right into her brain"

Kayora heard them talking and didn't like it either... Still connected? but i took it off how could it still be connected...surgery? my brain? she suddenly bolted for the door screaming "Calno!"

but she didn't make it to the door years of not using your muscles will do its own damage and hers just weren't physically up to the task of running away and she collapsed to the floor "Calno" she cried "what happened to me? why cant i do anything?"

"I might be able to explain that in a short time Miss" Andrew said before leaving the room to go get the stuff he needed. He went to his truck opened the door to the back seat and pulled out a carrying case for a laptop and a green tool box. He came back about three minutes later entered the room and sat down in a corner. He pulled out and turned on his laptop and set down the tool box. While the laptop powered up he opened the tool box revealing wires, and cords which he hooked into his laptop.

Once his laptop was powered up he launched several programs and connected his smaller cables to the much large black cable with alligator clips "Alright beginning diagnostics now, this should tell use just what this large cable is transferring, in the mean time, Jade maybe you should find the girl a room of her own and remove the other cables, that should make her feel more conferable, she looks like she could use some time alone to gather her thoughts to" Andrew said to Jade as he got to work.

Jade nodded her head "I'll take her to one of the other rooms Hawk" she said lifting Kayora up and putting one of her arms around Jades neck for support. She then moved down the hall way to another room, the girl was to weak to make it on her own. When they reached the room Jade opened the door, turned on the light and set Kayora down on the bed "Let's get those other black cables off you for now, and then you should get some rest" she said to Kayora.

Kayora had nothing left to fight with. she was emotionally and physically drained as quick as a flash of lightening her life had been turned upside down in an instant she had gone from her happy life as the protector of her isolated village to waking up on the the table in the other room with a bunch of cables sticking out all over her.

she was cold, afraid, lost and now she was tired as well. she let Jade Lay her on the bed and felt the slight tug as each plug was removed "jade?" she asked her voice tired from everything that had just happened "can you leave me one" it was strange she had only had them for an hour or so but she felt connected to them somehow

"Yeah" Jaded nodded and placed one on the night stand, she finished removing them and began to leave the room "Wash room is behind that other door, theres a bath in there in case you feel like taking one, now try and get some sleep" Jade said with a tender voice as she left the room and went back to the others.

Kayora reached over and picked it up and held it close for a moment checking both ends the on where it had been cut and the end with the plug and again wondered what was happening as she drifted off in to natural sleep for the first time in a long time.

Lindsy stood in the room where Kayora had been held the power had been shut down witch in turn was what caused the server to go down. she picked up the Primary jack up off the floor her long fingers not quite being able to wrap around it. she examined the large spike the shuddered tossing it on the table

most anti corporate people viewed that act as something that put them above the law but in actuality it was there to protect corporate interests in an ever more competitive world the clause in question gave them the right to conduct there own internal investigations outside of the regular police system as long as information relating to pubic security was freely shared.

As Jade left the Girl alone in the room, Hawk watched from the living room. Once the door was closed Hawk walked over to Jade and "Hey can I get a moment of your time. I think I've got some bad news about this girl." he then motinoed towards his bedroom.

"hahahah" Laughed Hawk " well it has been a while but no there is actually bad news. Um, when I was working for the army, part of my job was to perform security on some very classified material. They didn't trust the regular soldiers with it so they decided to assign my corps to do that kind of work for them. One of the things I came across was a secret project codenamed GINX. It was an attempt to create a battlefield capable robot operated remotely. The problem, though, was that the user had to be plugged directly into the robot for maximum efficiency. The army went through a number of tests with volunteers but they would invariably reject the programing. They knew they were people and thus they couldn't adjust to the fact that they were robotic. For one they still experienced fear while under direct fire and would flinch from "suicide missions" that the robot could actually handle. Eventually the army figured out that the person would need to be plugged in either from birth, which by the way provided some serious issues, or would have to have their memories completely wiped so that they truly believed they were the robot or whatever the programming told them they were. The army baulked at this and closed down the program. Thing is those cords and plugs? they're the same ones the army was using under the idea that, in the end, the user would never be unplugged."

Lindsy stepped out of the car after the very short trip to the crash site.as with the complex there where police everywhere and since it wasn't corporate property there where laying down a heavy hand in asserting there authority with this portion of the investigation which was fin with her there original inspection said that Kayora wasn't in the van. she walked over to the barricade and signaled her contact who after a few moments discreetly made his way over.

"you said they found something?"

"yes" he began "if you look along the bank you'll see where they have the dogs sniffing around" he inclined his head in such away as to indicate the right direction without it being obvious "they found a set of prints leading from the footpath to the river and slightly farther down the same prints leading out.. except the impression is deeper"

"as though someone had carried someone out of the van"

"exactly the only problem is that with the public nature of the path the dogs are having trouble tracing it back and where thy exited it leads up to the road then followed it down a couple hundred feet where it suddenly ends"

Lindsy crossed her arms and idly stared around as she contemplated the situation. her eyes where suddenly distracted by the changing lights at the intersection. she turned and stared directly at them "Sargent... can you get me the traffic footage for the past hour from that corner."

Lindsy turned and walked back to the car "back to the complex" she told the driver rather roughly she had to get to the chopper and back to HQ Michael needed to hear this but he wouldn't be answering his phone while angry and nursing his alcohol, and if she knew him as well as she thought she did he was likely listening to some depressing opera.

"Good point. I hate to leave this place as its got a couple of nice outs that are . . . .interesting and assaulting it would be hard but not impossible. On the other hand I used to have two others similar to this in country, we could try to get to one of those. One problem though. I'm not sure how to get out of here without being spotted."

Lindsy's chopper screamed overhead again on its way back to HQ as local PD scoured the area for more clues along with GU security personnel which the police couldn't arrest for "driving around". the flight only took 15 mins which was a damn sight better than the 40 minute drive across town. again she stepped out just as it touched down and walked briskly to the stairwell and down to Michael's private suite on the 102 floor.

she didn't even have to guess where he was all she had to do was follow the sound of the opera music she had predicted would be playing and being Lindsy she didn't even knock and wait fort he ever present butler to open the doors to the den she just barged right in slamming the doors open "leave us!" she barked at the butler who just politely bowed before turning to leave

"i really hope theres a good reason for thin intrusion" Michael asked from where he sat in a couch facing a roaring fireplace the ever present glass of scotch in his hand

Kayora was sleeping like a baby or more appropriately like someone who hadn't had a good nights rests in years which was true, being constantly connected to the system there was constantly information being pumped into her brain especially while she was "sleeping". when she was asleep it was a prime time to upload additional information modify memory's or even reprogram her perception of the world or the world its self in preparation for her next mission.

as she slept the remaining cable was clutched tightly in one hand there would be no easy way to get her to let go. even though she looked to be sleeping peacefully for the moment it was still unknown if she really was or what it would take to wake her, after all for her sleep was a programed action rather than a natural one

GI Head Quarters

Lindsy was sitting at her desk idly going over recent reports and files when her cellphone rang she picked it up off of her desk where she had set it and looked at the display before answering it

"Allendale" she said as an answer

"one moment" there was a pause and the sound of a couple keys being hit and then her computer sounded that she had gotten a new e-mail she tapped the display accessing the file which instantly uploaded to her system "i took the liberty of accessing the portion of relevance." she opened the file which began with the crash being shown from one camera angle followed by the reporter stopping snapping a few photos then getting back in her car

the camera angle changed again as she drove through the intersection the time stamp changing along with it to a few moments prior catching a man crawling out of the bush clearly carrying what could only be Kayora over his shoulder, he walked aways down the road before stopping and pointing his rifle at something which turned out to be the reporters car

the reporter got out as which point Kayora had gotten free and was apparently in a panic which was understandable but after a few moments she had collapsed again and the reporter and the man placed her into the car and drove out of view which is where the clip ended

Lindsy hung up the Phone and forwarded the video to another contact with instructions to edit out the obvious cables and send it back to the senders address she then made an other call to the security devision and forwarded the local in a few moments they would be storming the area and Kayora would be back in there hands.

Andrew already knew that Jade wanted to get rid of her car, and he had the perfect way to do it. When he finished loading his tool box into his truck he grabbed a match book and a gasoline container. He broke into Jades car and cleared any personal effects out of it and put them into his truck. He then smashed the GPS unit on the dash before pouring the gas all over the car, inside and out. He stepped back and lit a match and tossed it into the gas, instantly the car was covered by flames. He then went back inside "Jade I took car of your car, you wanted it extra crispy right?" Andrew said to her "Crispier the better in this situation, grab the last of your gear and load it up" she then said as she turned back to Hawk to await his reply.

IC: Hawk had moved straight through his room and into the armory. Punching a code into the panel on his wall he then gathered up some gear. Three shoulder holsters, three Handguns, three sets of miniaturized com equipment and his personal SABR OICW XM10 assault rifle in compact form. He also grabbed a ruck full of ammo for both the XM10 and the handguns. He slung the rifle and the handguns over one shoulder and grabbed the com equipment with that hand. As he turned to walk out of the room he grabbed two more rucks and then closed the door behind him. He then followed Jade out of the house to where her car was being burned. "Looks like its time to go." He said to Jade and Andrew. "Andrew get us mobile. We will discuss where we're going once we get on the road."

they had positioned themselves with there backs to the burning car it would cancel the effects of the light source on there night vision and make it harder for them to be detected as they approached the building and when they where all in position waited for the commander's signal before bashing the the frount door and making there insertion into the main room

they had positioned themselves with there backs to the burning car it would cancel the effects of the light source on there night vision and make it harder for them to be detected as they approached the building and when they where all in position waited for the commander's signal before bashing the the frount door and making there insertion into the main room

"room secure, advance" the men remained in there pairs as the worked there way through the hideout securing room after room the longer it took the more anxious the commander became

He was keeping quiet because Kayora was sleeping so he whispered under his breath.

"read a map nothing," replied Hawk, " I can tell you where to go from here on memory alone. I hope they haven't changed the boarder guard posts though . . . "

the AI's where responsible for the last part of the war and was the sole reason for the development of the GINX project. since no one wanted to trust an AI with a weapon again they needed a new weapons platform that would obey without question and be willing to operate in what would nomaly be considered suicide situations and heavly armourd enough to beable todeal with any situation.

the GINX would have been the answer, they where about to test its final capability's but they needed a pilot to do that

Hawk checked over weapons and hand checked the Mags as the car sped off towards the border

"Now according to the map theres a old abandoned border crossing ten clicks west of here, it's shut down because the one on the main road replaced it" Andrew said pointing to a spot on the map as the truck turned onto a different road. Jade looked up at him "Once we get across what prevents GI from getting us?"

"A different company has control over it if they come for us it will be open war between the two, but if that company finds out what we have with us they will be after us and be fighter god only knows who else including GI to get to us."

"Sir, the AI is down"Smith stated over the radio "but he wired it into everything else so its all gone"

"this "hawk" is going to get on my nerves" the commander muttered to himself the got on the radio "whats the slavageability?"

judging by how he wired it in maybe 5% but hats going to be random data the likely hood of anything of value is slim to none"

"take the drives maybe the tech department can get more."

"the rest of you scour the area, i want to know everything there is to know" there was radio acknowledgments of the order as the men got to work "Becket to Griffin come in."

Becket held up the cut off end of the plug and grinned, solid proof that they where here. military training be damned no mater what happened when you rush something things get forgotten little things like a cut off plug "see if you can get anything from the med-bot"

Phil was asleep in his chair the tv was saying something about a pair wanted in a kidnapping case but it was the low drone of the tv that had lulled him to sleep. the border station was officially shut down by the company's but the local government still kept tabs on the comings and goings of local hunters and the like

the sound of an approaching truck woke him followed by the lights in the windows as the truck approached, he quickly woke himself up and stepped out of the shack and into the road his hand out in the universal sign to halt

Andrew knew the guard would probably recognize them and try and stop them. Lucky for him last he heard border guards were not armed. Even if they were he used to work for a big corporation and his truck was outfitted to protect from small and medium caliber rounds. He hit the gas bringing the truck up to full speed with the intension of getting across the border crossing.

Phil stood his ground as long as he could all the while praying the driver would stop finally leaping out of the way with only seconds to spare turning o watch as the truck crashed through the cheap barricade and repeated the same action on the other side.

He cursed under his breath as he picked himself up off the ground. what on earth could be so important that they couldn't stop for a simple border inspection

"Phil! Phil! are you alright" the other guard came running from his post after the truck had sped by

"Yeah I'm alright" he muttered "the damn bastard almost ran me over though."

"smugglers aren't that stupid. the good ones even go through the main stop on the highway." Phil brushed the dust off his uniform and straitened it a bit.

Phil walked back into his post and sat to review th footage for the incident as the TV droned on about more information as some situation in the city developed

"haha we did it, though we will be on the news by morning" Andrew said as the truck sped off into the night. There first obstacle was passed but they had many bigger ones ahead of them to get to there goal of getting out of corporate controlled countries.

"there it is" Phil muttered as he isolated and zoomed in on the trucks plate he saved the image as well as a image of the truck and sent a request for identification off to the state department with a brief discretion of the events surrounding the vehicle in question.

it was a while before he got a response. he began looking over the information sheet trying to figure out why this man would be running a boarder crossing in the middle of the night when given his credentials he should have been able to cross a the main crossing with little or no hassle from either the local government or GI.

Phil was re-reading the sheet when the suspicious vehicle alert appeared on the screen along with the wanted posters of Jade and Owen and the "Missing" forum for the GI employee. he though it was odd that they wouldn't publish her name but the cooperation wasn't know for its openness.

his eyes suddenly when wide and he re-read the vehicle description before switching back to the camera footage, he cycled through it frame by frame finally isolating a clear shot of first Owen in the passenger seat which was relatively easy confirming Jade was a little harder due to the angle of the shots but he finally got one there was also an additional pair of legs sticking out which given the angle of the shot meant there was a fourth person laying down in the back of the vehicle.

Phil dialed the number that was with the alert as he readied the information package he was going to send

"Yes I have Information concerning the Kidnapping of one of your employees."

"please hold, I'm going to transfer you to Agent Becket who in in charge of the investigation"

Becket's Griffin Transport

"Becket here" Becket was riding in the back of the Griffin with the rest of is men when the call came in

"yes Agent Becket this is Philip Grayson from boarder station 15. you sent out a alert on a wanted vehicle in relation to the kidnapping of a Gothart Industries employee."

Becket was instantly alert "I'm listening"

"well sir, the vehicle in question ran my stop shortly before your alert came"

"Can you confirm its the one we want?"

"Yes sir i can, i have an information package all ready to upload to a source"

"alright upload it t my PDA." Becket rattled off the linking information from a remote source and shortly after he finished got a incoming file notification which he quickly accepted "thank you Mr. Grayson we'll be in touch." Becket hung up and opened the file quickly reviewing the documents as he punched Lindsy's number

"Its Becket we got a lead"

"what is it?" she asked

"A boarder guard ID'ed them as they ran his crossing. He also ID'ed the vehicle and driver."

"Ha there almost making this to easy" she began chuckling to herself and then stopped suddenly as what he said fully sunk in "wait what boarder crossing?"

"Shit!" she covered the microphone and let out a string of more colourful curses before calming enough to return to the phone "those god damn clever bastards! Running across the boarder to STI controlled territory where they know we cant easily follow. which again begs the question "are they working for STI?" or is it something else?"

"We will" Becket ended the call and gave the order to turn south and head for Station 15 they would come in low and then follow the road keeping under the radar the stealthy griffin would be almost imposable to detect except by the most sophisticated and advanced radar detection systems all of which where to big to fit in any kind of vehicle.

damn thought Hawk to himself. "alright,' he said, "they are going to be out for us in force now. If they manage to catch the car we try to outrun them first. Out shoot them second and split up and evade only if all else fails. If we are forced to split up contact each other using the commo sets. They are high encryption and their army freq. Which means it might take those corporation . . . people . . .. all of one minute to crack em so keep any message really really short got it?"

"Roger that, lets just worry about it once it comes up, For the time being we are safe" Andrew said to Hawk as they continued driving. Andrew turned back onto the main road and continued on driving. Eventually they would have to stop for food and fuel.

Becket dialed the boarder guards pumber the guard instantly picked up

the call was disconnected and the Griffin streaked in low crossing the boarder at a different location before turning to follow the road Becket going over the map with Mendoza as the griffin doubling back to get to there road of escape

"right then. we know they crossed here" i indicator went up on the holographic map "we are reasonably sure the GPS tracker has been disabled so we get to do this the hard way. there options are to link up with the main road and a get lost int he traffic while finding a place to rest and resupply, the likely stop would be this truck stop just up the road" an identifier appeared on the map... it was a forested area behind and the other side was grassy and open, minimizing available LZ... there one viable one roughly a klick out so we are looking a a bi of a walk from there"

"and the other option if the go off in tho the back woods and we never find them" the entire are he mentioned changed colour to the Amber colour designating it for search we could literally spend days checking everyone of the random hidden cabins in the area, and thats just doing aerial thermal scans before sending in ground teams."

Becket hung his head and pinched the bridge of his nose for a moment "Cox prep for landing at the LZ Squad in civvies. concealed nonlethal load out, smith fire up the portable Jack. Michaels find a location to set yourself... remember... nonlethal... we want them alive" Michaels reluctantly turned in his
Ammo belt and accepted the long rang trank darts.

"you heard him men, get yer gear together and get ready for a walk" the Griffin crossed the main road as they swung around to line up with there LZ several kicks out but it would be easy to mistake the direction as going to a small outpost to the east thats if anyone spotted them

But those were not the only features on the truck, he had the bullet proof glass, reinforced tires, the thing was basically a armored car.

"The battery's have a couple hours of juice left in them before the solar panels need to recharge."wasp began "other wise we have full fuel tanks. translation we can stay in the air till sunrise but then our tanks will be drained but the battery's will be able to recharge at least, we won't be able to run all night again without refueling."

"alright heres the plan. Grant get on the horn with command see if you cant get a list of possible contacts for these people. there a reporter and ex mil they have to have contacts. until then we are going to move our search into town."

"you got a better one? unless we actually set foot on STI property theres nothing they can do. they might not like us being here but hopefully the small size of the town will work in our favor"

the Griffin lifted off and flew strait into the town meeting up wit the road and followed it for a ways before finally coming to land in he back parking lot of the GI store, which like all international locations also doubled as a hidden entrance for the Security departments spy network

While it was a well know fact that the corporations owned most smaller businesses and large share holdings in larger operations and generally held sway over different government offices which gave the illusion that they ran the world government and municipal owned property was technically neutral territory, but it was neutral ground in enemy territory

on a holo screen the image of the Griffin flying over the town and landing in the walled back lot of the Gothart Industries retail store was displayed

"someone want to tell me why there here?" the same dark figure drummed his fingers on the desk again awaiting explanations.

"at this time we don't have hard facts" one man spoke up "we don't know who is in the Griffin so we cant even begin to guess what they want"

"if i may sir" the man who had been put in charge of salvaging the operation spoke up "I've been watching GI News broadcasts, and checking with other sources and have come up with a possible explanation"

"Gothart Industries Knows Someone attempted to retrieve the girl. this is a fact proven by there initial press release after the attack. roughly an hour after that and APB was put out on a vehicle belonging to one Jade Salarus who's vehicle was seen fleeing the area a few minutes after, while we haven't been able to get our hands on the video footage from the traffic cameras we are working with the assumption that she knows something this assumption is supported by the arrest warrant that went out for her and one Owen Hawk shortly after the APB.

"while we cant confirm how Owen is involved we assume that he is because there warrants where paired although the actual warrants only say "wanted for questioning"

"where are you going with this?"

"from the GI research complex where is the closest place wanted people could run to escape local Law enforcement?"

a small smile crossed the mans lips "so your saying GI is hear because they assume this is where Miss. Salarus and Mr. Hawk have run?"

The truck made it into town and Andrew drove around for a short time, not stopping at the first gas station he could find he stopped at a store that was open 24 hours a day. It was like any other grocery store, fresh fruit, bred and the like, and it had its own gas bar. So Andrew filled his tank of gas, paid for it and then went inside the store. After about twenty minutes he came out with several bags. He put them in the back with Jade and got back in "We need to find a place to stop and sleep" he said starting the truck up again and pulling out of the gas bar.

after Andrew drove out of site the store clerk picked up his radio that had been attached to the underside of the counter "Echo 12 to base."

"base go ahead"

"Possible match for that wanted party unable to confirm" he had only seen them from a distance and through nigh darkened windows so he had only been able to tell that there where at least 2 other people in the truck there was no way he could see Kayora who was still sound asleep.

"roger that. any additional details?"

"wanted party is traveling with a third man who is driving the following." he rattled off a short description of Andrew as well as his truck "unable to et a plate number. vehicle last seen traveling east on 23rd ave"

underneith the GI retail outlet in the hidden bunker Commander Becket and his team where looking over there list of options

Dr. Kashman had been up all night and she had kept her team up as well no one was sleeping until exactly what had gone wrong had been isolated. they had been completely blind sided, either they had a mole or someone found a hole in the system that they had over looked
