Celestial Seibutsu

It took 300 years of pure hard work, but it was worth it. Some people might not understand what 300 years really means. 300 means 3600 months of pure dedication to a cause. A cause of freedom, something not tasted for nearly a thousand years by the Seibutsuists. Today is the day, today, the Seibutsuists will make themselves known as something more than just a helot of the Traileric Empire.

Karasu Oujou leaned back in his chair. Today was the easy day. The years before hand were the real work. Now was just the day to sit and wait. The new Senate of Seibutsu already in place, and Karasu Oujou rewarded for his hard work with the position as Prime Minister, Trailer had agreed to allow a move of Autonomy. It was a simple matter really, suggesting the trade and growth opertunities, and showing exactly how much they were losing by keeping Celestial Seibutsu as a helot. Freedom was as simple as the truth.

The Traileric Empire offered up a Non-Aggressive Pact and the next closest system --which has become rather close to the same point as Seibutsu in expansion and wanting freedom -- in return for a Militaristic Freedom of Movement Agreement, as well as free trade. It was an interesting communication, as the Traileric Empire seemed to be completely willing to allow the transition, and even helpful in the transfer. Even more surprising was the fact that Traileric left their research facility there as well as the ship graveyard in the area. Now all that was left was to make the agreement public. Karasu reviewed the message he had prepared. He was quite happy with his people’s response.

“Sir.” His secretary, Dartha, popped her head into his office. “Admiral Natha is here to see you.”
“Oh yes, Dartha, would you please get us something to drink, spiced warther perhaps.”
Admiral Natha stepped into the room, he was obviously waiting right behind Dartha. “Spiced warther sounds excellent.”
Once Dartha had left the office Karasu began to speak, “So admiral, you sounded rather excited over the com.”
“I have some very good news sir, you remember about a year ago I told you a little about project Siera Charlie?” The Admiral was looking around curiously, as if looking for something while he spoke.
“Yes, you were rather criptic as I recall, just a little about how it’ll be a great undertaking for Seibutsu. Before I was appointed president as well I recall.”
Just then Dartha walked into the room with two glasses of spiced warther, the favored drink of most Seibutsuists.
“Anything else sir?” She asked.
“Thank you, Dartha, that’ll be all.” With that she left the room to do more paperwork or something of the sort, Karasu didn’t really care.
“Yes sir, I’d like to unveil some information about this project. Is the room secure and safe?” He continued his curious looking.
“It is; go on.” Karasu eased the admiral’s fears.
“Well sir, project Siera Charlie is a naval undertaking to create a class of ship the size of a city. The UCSS Iraquitis will be launch ready tomorrow.”
“We’re talking about a spacecraft the size of a city? You mean one that will function militaristically?”
“Aye sir. I have a hand picked crew of five hundred thousand ready to crew the Iraquitis, and during the six months it will take to train the crew, we should have an entire battle fleet ready comprised of five Naquitis Class frigates, three Hensenshi Class cruisers, eight Musei Class Destroyers, and one Masurao Class Dreadnought, all crewed I also might add.” Natha took a sip of her spiced warther and let the thought sink in.
“Excuse my surprise, but I seem to recall this project having about four years left until it was finished?”
“Yes, well we discovered that Trailers had left behind an entire graveyard of ships a few months ago. It speed production up quite a bit.”
“Interesting. Thank you for the upkeep. I appreciate you keeping me up to date, especially since our new constitution does not require you to tell me anything.”
“I make it a habit of keeping friends in high places up to date.” He smiled.
Today would be a good day, a very good day.

The move was unprecedented. For the first time in over ten thousand years, a helot state had successfully achieved autonomy without being subsequently vaporised. In truth, many Trailarii aristocrats and ruling caste persons felt that this was a poor choice. Intruth such souls knew little of the workings of an empire, and seemed to have forgotten the military doctrines of their youth. The Traileric Empire was embroiled in a war galaxies away, one which had drawn nearly every last standing hoplite from Traileric soil. Needless to say, they were ill equipped to deal with a full revolt in their most distant borderlands. A peace parting of ways was far easier, and thus Celestial Seibutsu was born.

Ecnomically speaking, the Trailarii were losing more money garrisoning the system than they were exporting the goods that they had plundered from the indigenous species. Economists figured they could reverse this money-sucking situation if they allowed the helots to garrison and rule themselves, buy their ores cheaply, and free up some military muscle.

The Seibutsans would be well off as a Traileric protectorate, even in these times of distant war, for there were few foolish enough to provoke the giant, and those few could be dispatched of with minimal effort. Regional headquarters for Traileric corporate bodies who were interested in the fledgling nation were already being built in major Seibutsan populartion centers, and a mere six Traileric days after the declaration of autonomy, the Empire granted all Seibutsan citizens unlimited visa to Imperial territory, as well as the Right of Immigration, which had not been granted to a non-Traileric nation in well over ten thousand years. Already, the Seibutsans were being referred to fondly as 'The Young Ones' and many influential Trailarii wished to "uplift" this young nation, technologically, culturally, and philosophically. Even the various god-cults and pantheons were getting in on the act, and with Seibutsan permission, more than one Shrine to Athena or Ares had begun construction in that distant land.
