Admiral Hadrian sat on the bridge of his ship The Emperor's Hand and watched the crew work. The Dogosse Geir class ship was one of the finest in the Imperium, and yet it took months to traverse the empire without the aid of the transport gates. That was why he was here, to negotiate with anyone who would help them gain the technology to overcome the one barrier their own scientists could not, faster than light travel. Probes had been warped without coordinates through the gates, sending thousands of messages to unknown parts of the galaxy, and potentailly other galaxies as well. All laser, radio and either comminications had been broadcasting their plea, and as a final measure, the 12 Solar Ray weapons had been reconfigured to reflect moorse code versions of the message to passers-by. Until contact was made, they waited.

The galaxy was mind bogglingly massive. The chances of one of the drones actually finding anyone where astronomical. And then when one considered some of the creatures that inhabited the galaxy, some of the things they did merely because a species was different to them, the odds the Imperium had beaten not to be simply burnt to a cinder would never be known to them, the fact they found someone who would actually provide the technology was nothing short of a miracle.

The probe skipped out of reality and approached the system of Tanith. The system was very sparsely populated, three thousand people living on or within a few light seconds of the mining vessel Eatin’ my Minerals. The probe managed to send a message to one of the remote sensor drones, which in turn was forwarded to the Minerals ship-brain. From there it was forwarded on to the Cypria ring-brains, who would contact someone who could act in a diplomatic function in the local volume of the origins of the probe.

(Maelstrom: What are you wanting me to do?)
(Glory: Is it impossible for me to contact you just for a chat?)
(Maelstrom: Let me think, last time you established a direct link with me to ‘have a chat’ I ended up getting nukes thrown at me for improper social conduct.)
(Glory: Its not like those nukes could have damaged you…)
(Maelstrom: That’s not the point, the point is you always seem to try to fuck with me, sending me into diplomatic hotspots where I am likely going to get shot at without even an armed drop ship for support. So where am I going now?)
(Glory: Quite mission, compared to what your used to. (datafile))
(Maelstrom: Giving Faster then Light Drives to unspecified Imperium’s sounds like a really smart idea.)
(Glory: We will have units on standby, incase you run into trouble.)
(Maelstrom: that’s what you said last time…)
(Glory: Oh shut up and go.)

The Ambassador’s Maelstrom moments later actived its Jump Drive, punching out of reality near The Emperor’s Hand. The vessel was a three hundred metre long ellipsoid, small bulbous compartments marred its otherwise perfectly smooth hull. From the vessel various forms of power could be noted, of them, one single communication emmited from the vessel.

The crew of The Emperor's Hand was surprised at the sudden apperance of a ship nearly twice their size, seemingly from nothingness. It was this apperance that let Admiral Hadrian know that these people had exactly what he wanted. He extended the ship's communication array and sent the following message:

Esteemed visitors,
Thank you for your swift reply. Negotiations can be held immediatley on my ship, or we could travel to the nearby colony of Side 10. We will provide any special atmospheric conditions your ambassadors require at either location, but doing so aboard The Emperor's Hand would be far easier. Feel free to dock with our ship or send a shuttle.

As the message was sent, the meeting hall deep within the ship was made ready. Food and drink was laid out, and gas cartridges containing different atmospheric variants were prepared to fill the room, should the ambassadors require it. The Admiral left the bridge to await his guests, whatever they may be, in the conference room.

“That’s it?” Maelstrom said as it scanned the ship. “That ship is tiny, and its not even generating a third of the power I am.”

“Oh let them be Maelstrom.” Leyan said, as he stepped into the small shuttlecraft with the white skinned Avatar. “Its not like they need that much energy, their not running Gravatics, they don’t have the weapons systems, the fabricators, they don’t even have ef-tee-el” the small shuttle detatched from the ship, and headed towards the ship. “Maelstrom, your not packing weaponry on that Avatar again are you?”

“Define ‘weaponry’” came the quick reply. “Everything I have on me is for self-defence.”

“Okay, but if you kill someone important and they try to blow up your face again, don’t blame me.” He replied as they began to make their approach.

“Last time it was your fault though!” screetched the Avatar as they connected. “Time to work.” He muttered as the ship opened the airlock.

The pair would have confused anyone not aware of Authority society. A tall, white skinned creature that was so perfect in its construction that it was unsettling stood next to a figure that looked mostly human wearing a Deep Blue Suit. They stood with a comfortable ease in the atmosphere, and nodded to those awaiting us.

“Take us to your leaders!” the Avatar said in a loud voice. “We mean you no harm!”

~Oh Fabricator be damned, your going the clichéd route.~

~We need to have some fun.~

OOC- Sorry, my allies have given FTL as part of a trade deal in an off site forum.
