(OOC: This is a thing that I'm really proud of. I hope to have interior shots and images of the Sportwagon soon enough, and maybe I'll add some things as I think of them. Reviews, tests, news articles etc. are VERY welcome. Images are, as always, made by Mattia Mariani.)

VENEZIA, VAN LUXEMBURG 12 April 2008 Better and improved: The Monteluci Duca

Debuting at the Concours d’Élegance in the Palace Gardens in Luxembourg, the new Monteluci Duca is not so much as a revolution as it is an evolution of the vehicle.

The name ‘Duca’ relates to the noble descent of the vehicle, and the role it has in Monteluci’s return to the world stage. ‘Progetto Flora B’ is a revolutionary facelift to the already successful model. A Sportwagon (SW) will be unveiled at a later date.

The Duca symbolises everything Monteluci stands for. Sportive & luxurious transportation, exclusivity and nobility. The Duca is an outright successor to the Monteluci models constructed before the Second World War. The ‘Duca SW’ combines sportivity and luxury with practical usefulness, while the Duca only got better.

New features include new standard features, such as a panorama roof, that covers 80% of the Duca’s top, and can be opened to allow more fresh air to flow inside. In the facelift, the rear seat has also been divided into three separate parts, of which two can be electrically adjusted. For the third part, one can opt for a centre console (factory option), with independent airconditioning controls, extra storage space, and a small refrigerator. The complete centre console will be finished in either titanium look (Titanio) or in the traditional Monteluci Olive finishing, using real wood parts of the olea europae van luxemburgum; Van Luxemburger Olive Tree.

The engine range has also been upgraded, and reworked with Monteluci’s advanced Birturbo system.. The atmospheric 2-litre engine has been dropped in favour of a 1.8 engine with Biturbo technology: This engine develops 190 PS.
The 2.0 Turbo model has been reworked, and now develops 260 PS. The atmospheric 3.2 V6 will remain in production to please purists. The 3.2 V6 Biturbo has been uprated to 345 PS by slight modifications to the ECU and turbochargers. The V8 SFS remains unchanged.

In terms of Diesel Engines, Monteluci now offers a 1.8 BMD (Biturbo Monteluci Diesel) with 180 PS, to replace the 155 PS 2.0 MD. The 2.0 engine turbo has also been tweaked, and the new engine now develops 210 PS. To fill up the gap in between the 2.0 and 3.2, Monteluci now offers a 2.4 litre 5-cilinder Biturbo Diesel engine, developing 260 PS. The 3.2 MD has been changed into a 3.2 BMD with 310 PS.

In line with the current tendency to move to fuel-efficient cars, Monteluci has launched the Duca EcoDrive. This model will become available in both sedan and SW version, and sport a 1.2 BMD Ecodrive engine, developing 120 PS. With this vehicle, the car can be extra fuel-efficient and will use only 1 litre of fuel per 22 km. This equals to a fuel use of 4.55 litres per 100 km. To achieve this, Monteluci has not only changed the engine, but also increased streamlining and aerodynamics, lowered the car by a further 20mm, made the car lighter and created an ‘eco’ setting for all onboard technology. If the equipment is not used, it will automatically turn off and save fuel. Shifting indicators will show the driver when to shift up or down, to improve fuel economy.

The chassis has been slightly reworked, and offers more feeling and sportivity, while it can also be set to a more luxurious ride. The car also has an additional security system: the vehicle will refuse to start the engine and activate it’s electrical system without the driver having entered the correct entrance code. This entrance code will also effect the radio and navigation: without this code, they will be unusable.

With the facelift, Monteluci will introduce the Duca SW: A stationwagon that fits the identity of Monteluci. With a cargo capacity of 1450 litres with the rear seat folded down, a lot of space is freed up for the demanding family, to transport their goods the Monteluci way: swift, fast and luxurious. The dynamic styling says it all: this vehicle is for true enjoyment, life with the family, while keeping the sportivity and luxury so beloved by the Monteluci drivers. Having a family is not a punishment: let them enjoy your car!

The Duca SW offers all the features from the regular Duca (Facelift model), but accompanied by several new options, such as a 40/20/40 split-folding rear seat (not possible with the centre console option), roof rails in silver as well as four lashing eyes in the luggage compartment. The Duca SW is available in all engine specifications.

The facelifted Duca will be available by April 2008 in all Monteluci dealerships around the globe. The new Duca SW will be unveiled at a later date.

Monteluci Duca, Concept Sketch (http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/VanLuxemburg/MLsketch1.jpg)

(Yes, this is a disguised kick before I go to bed)
Tanaara
12-04-2008, 22:30
The Archon, Rex Tanaara Robert Ryan Fortier -Hexx read the brouchure again and whistled softly to himself. "I thihk that I can officially say that I'm impressed."

He turned to his close companion Travis Darkhorse "I think we ought to offer them the chance to sell in Tanaara. With old fashioned cars making a come back among the wealthy, I don't theink they'll make a mint, but some how I don't think they are going for volume."

Travis laughed "You're such a car guy, but yeah this Duca isn't bad at all. And the total customization they offer is exceptional. I wonder if they'd be willing to look into fuel cells. With the new ones being brought out to retrofit into older models.." Darkhorse's voice trailed off in thought.

And so a missive was dispatched to the Monteluci Company of Van Luxemberg concerning any interest in opening a dealership in Tanaara.

Dear Sir,

I sincerely thank you for your letter. We are of course interested in opening a dealership in Tanaara, especially as we have heard good things about the situation of the automobile market there. If you do not mind, we prefer to build a dealership of our own, so we can bring the Tanaarans the joy of the stylish brand that is Monteluci in a completely different dimension.

Concerning your request regarding fuel cells, our partner company VLT has indeed started research into this, but as it is not finished, we are not allowed to use it. We can also not comment on the progress of the fuel cell project.

Dear Mister Monteluci, we will gladly allow you to design your dealerships, and will lease you the land under long term, symbolic lease agreements. I can tell you in advance that most of your Tanaaran patrons will be interested in your personalization capabilities- Progetto Gilberto Monteluci. We see our vehicles very much as an extension of ourselves, and want them as individual as possible. And we don't mind the expense. I sincerely doubt that you will see volume sales, as the nitch that traditional cars fill is purely a luxury one.

We are very excited that our plans for a dealership network in Tanaara had such a warm response. (OOC: V12 is not really an option, it's reserved for larger ML models ;) Anyways, I have been thinking of producing an SFS F1 model, to celebrate Monteluci's entry into F1 again. Think of an excessively lightened Duca with a more powerful V8 and quite a few chassis adjustments. But it might still need some work.)

New Monteluci model shows record sales in Van Luxemburg

VENEZIA – The Monteluci Duca is one of Van Luxemburg’s most popular models at introduction of the last few years. The car was sold out almost instantly, with dealerships running out of brochures and almost 10,000 vehicles sold in the first few weeks.

It is not unusual for Van Luxemburgers to buy a new model en masse. The previous Duca was also sold in large numbers, and the VLT L7 and L5 preceded them several years before. However, 10,000 vehicles is a unique record for a new vehicle, a few weeks after launch. The only car that can compete with this record is the Fiat 500, which sold 15,000 cars in the first few weeks of it’s launch.

‘We are very surprised by this success. Our Venezia factory is at full capacity to produce just one model, just for one nation. It is a true miracle.’ According to Alfredo Monteluci. He also announced that Monteluci would start refurbishing an old VLT factory near Venezia to also produce Monteluci models and thus try to be able to catch up with the amount of sales. Automobili Monteluci also had to adjust it’s Duca sales goal: they will try to produce 400,000 of the cars at the end of 2008, mostly destined for Van Luxemburg.

Abroad, however, the Duca had a relatively mild reception. The car only sold in average numbers, and surely didn’t achieve the records set by the Duca in domestic sales. While there are some exceptions, it seems that VLT is generally favoured over Monteluci abroad, while in Van Luxemburg, it is exactly the other way round.

The Monteluci Duca is an automobile manufactured in Venezia, Van Luxemburg. Automobili Monteluci S.p.A. is part of the VLT Group. The previous Duca was already a grand success on the domestic market, and was also acquired by Van Luxemburger police units, the diplomatic service and the IVD. This model is expected to become favoured by national governmental units, because of the good roadholding capability and attractive price.

RTVL's TV show Autoblog.tv will review the Duca in it's next TV show, according to host Ruben Smidts

Could I order 3,000 of the SFS V8 at $270,000,000 total, please.
Could one be made with a heavy machine-gun ring in the roof? For lulz?
Nice doing business with you.

Oh, and for your months of research and slavery over your designs, have a $20 tip.

Plaatzer Automaand

Recent adoption by the Koninlijke Landmacht of the VLT M5 truck has resulted in the construction of a Van Luxemburg Automotive plant in Vliggenplaat. VLT's sudden introduction to the Plaatische market has generated mixed results. Military personnel familiar with the M5 are eager to buy civilian vehicles, confident in the quality of VLT. Civilians, on the other hand, often shy away from VLT and remain with established manufacturers such as Bavarian Motor Works, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Volkswagen.

This has created a market in which there is great demand for Monteluci vehicles, available only in small numbers or as an import item. The Duca 2008 is the latest desire, particularly the 3.2 V6 Biturbo or the famed Duca V8 SFS.

Dear Sir/Ma'am,

Your order has been confirmed. 3,000 Monteluci Duca SFS V8 will be produced at a day dedicated to the production of the Antigr order, and these vehicles will be delivered as quickly as possible. The heavy machine gun ring, while discouraged by our engineers, can be mounted on one of the vehicles. We will however warn you that it is impossible to fire a heavy weapon from the roof, as this will place the glass roof under so much stress that it can break.

The total price comes to 270,000,000. Your order will be delivered within three months.

Monstrous Duca Order for Van Luxemburger Police

http://www.reliance.cz/images/success-stories/hvac/tpca-kolin/tovarna.jpg
The future Monteluci plant in Lesignano De’ Bagni, which is currently under refurbishment

LUXEMBOURG/VENEZIA – The direction of Automobili Monteluci was surprised today by a message from the Van Luxemburger Police Force: An order for 150,000 Monteluci Duca’s, in various forms, has been made to fill the gap that some older vehicles left after they were sold off.

The order includes an order for 25,000 vehicles for the Motorway Police, who will take delivery of V8-powered SFS models. All vehicles will be equipped with a standard Pabst LB-25 LED lightbar, and will be completely useable the moment they roll out of the factory. All police vehicles have also been modified by Monteluci’s SFS department, in order for them to produce more horsepower and have better handling.

The first of these vehicles will be delivered to the Monferato Polizia Communale, and will be a Monteluci Duca 2.4 5C BMD. The car, painted in the usual light blue/red colors of the Polizia Communale (Kommunalpolizei). The vehicle will be used as a rapid assistance vehicle, a role most Duca’s will take in Van Luxemburgs’ police forces. The first Duca V8 SFS will be delivered to the San Giustra Polizia Autostradale, and will be employed as a normal patrol vehicle.

The order also includes a large amount of ‘undercover’ vehicles and video surveillance vehicles for both the Autobahnpolizei and Kommunalpolizei. The Recherche has also expressed interest in a number of these undercover vehicles. According to Automobili Monteluci S.p.A., this might cause some trouble, as their factory is already short of capacity to produce the required vehicles.

‘Our factory in Moiano, Venezia can produce 500,000 vehicles annually. This order makes that we are in dire need of production capacity. We are unable to keep up with the orders made, and the refurbishment of the factory in Lesignano De’ Bagni is far from complete. Our new constructions abroad aren’t finished either, so we’re facing a slight problem here, with delivery times rising to over 12 months now. If we can get Lesignano running, the delivery times can probably shortened by up to 6 months. With our parts factories in Loth also running, we can deliver a newly ordered vehicle within 3 months. We are trying to be on schedule in around half a year, but we are afraid that waiting times might have grown to even 15 or 18 months by that time.’ According to Giacomo Cattaneo, director of the Moiano production plant.

Giacomo Cattaneo was unable to comment on the question if Monteluci was developing other models, a rumour that recently surfaced in the automotive press. So far, every official of the brand has denied this statement.

Reviewed: Monteluci Duca 3.2 V6 BMD

It seems to be the newest hype: The Monteluci Duca. The Venezia-based company already has problems with production and distribution of the new vehicles, since over 500,000 have been ordered worldwide already. The Zeitong Mateneen has received a demo model from the factory to play with, and we tested it extensively. Monteluci Duca, the report so far: 10.000 km

We picked our car up at the factory: a Grigio Granito-coloured Duca with Pelle Marrone leather upholstery, Olive Monteluci wooden interior decorations, Lounge Pack and 18 inch Veloce wheels. The engine that Monteluci placed in it is a 3.2 V6 BMD, a small technological miracle with 310 horsepower. The car is pretty much full-option, and only misses the 4D system that distributes the power over all 4 wheels instead of just the rear 2. Not that that is a punishment, though. The excellent Rear-wheel drive can make some 4D drivers wish they hadn’t paid over 2000 USD for something they didn’t need.

As we fill the car up for our first test run, the car once again proves what a blessing diesel fuel can be: the 70-litre swallows lots of the smelly liquid, but we only pay 85 Florins for it (Shell V-Power Diesel, that is.). A thing petrol is unable to do. A quick calculation proves that you’d have to pay 105 Florins for a full tank of RON 98. And it even gets better when you start the engine: the diesel makes little noise, and is very fuel efficient, if we have to believe the onboard computer. A range of 1050 km when doing 130 km/h on the Autobahn: You certainly can’t do that in your petrol-powered V6!

And on the road, it proves that the vehicle certainly shouldn’t be underestimated. The diesel-fueled powerplant is silent and the typical diesel sound can only be heard in the first 10 seconds that the engine is running. The Bi-turbos make sure that there is enough power available for the car: an unheard-of 310 horsepower propels the car forward, with oceans of torque being available in the low ranges. The 7-speed semi-automatic gearbox works smooth and is easy to operate. The best is the manual setting on the Semi-automatic gearbox: one can either shift gears with the stick, or feel like an F1-driver by using the paddle shifting system behind the steering wheel. The true power of the car, however, is when you push the throttle all the way into the carpet: even though the car is louder than before and the diesel sound is not exactly as good as a petrol model, you can certainly enjoy the sound as the vehicle accelerates phenomenally all the way to 270 km/h on the speedometer. The huge torque is a huge plus in terms of acceleration, and one may indeed feel that this vehicle is considerably faster in terms of acceleration than the average petrol V6.

During the drive, one thing caught our attention: The fit and finish of the Monteluci is perfect, and the quality of the materials used is absolutely classy. The leather sport seats support you well, and the heating and cooling systems in the seats work fabulous. The steering wheel has a good, quality feel to it, and so do all the other knobs and switches. The Satellite Navigation system works good, but sometimes could be a little less complicated, as it is sometimes hard to figure out some of the more advanced options available on the car.

If we had to buy a Duca, we would certainly select the ‘Lounge Pack’ option, as it is a blessing for people that love luxury. The Pack replaces the normal rear seat and installs two separate seats with a console inbetween, in which one has a fridge, and an option to control the climate zone in the back. The seats, which sit really well and may even be better than the front seats, can be electrically controlled, and recline so you can rest with your feet stretched. Once again, the finishing here is great, and everything breathes quality as much as it does breathe style. The passenger compartment in spacious and the large panorama roof allows lots of light to flood in. But, on some days that we drove the car, you prefer to switch on the electrochromic glass, which effectively blocks out sunlight coming from the panorama roof.

A downside of the spacious passenger compartment is that you’ll have to scarify space elsewhere. Obviously, the boot space was the compartment to be affected in the Duca, and the boot is somewhat smallish for the size of the car. Adding to this, since it is a saloon car, you will have to deal with a threshold that keeps you from easily loading your luggage into the back. However, the Duca Sportwagon should solve this, if you really want to.

As we turn off the Autobahn at Pavignano, we pay a visit to the Trefflingerpass, to test the Duca’s ability to corner. It of course is a point in which Monteluci is really strong due to their tradition, and the Duca is certainly no exception. The car handles great, and the adaptive suspension does it’s job just like it should. In ‘Sport’ modus, things get even more exciting, as the car now gains several ‘freedoms’ from the Vehicle Dynamic Control. The rear of the car is more keen on getting away from the rest, and the VDC will only intervene when a crash or any other sort of accident is inevitable. We have no problems with ascending onto the Trefflingerkofel, due to the monstrous torque available in the low rpm’s. Meanwhile, the ample amounts of horsepower available makes for swift overtaking moves, and the excellent chassis directs all this power in the right direction. This certainly is a Monteluci.

After extensive testing (10.000 km through Arvaglio, Weiningen, San Giustra and Levallois-Perret) we can only conclude that the Duca only got better. No wonder that it is a huge hype on the domestic market: it is just as good as they say, leave for some minor downpoints. Stay tuned for more updates as the mileage on our vehicle increases.

So far:

Pro:
- Engine
- Fit & Finish
- Handling
- Luxury & Standard Equipment

Con:

- Boot space is lacking
- Satnav works somewhat complicated

Monteluci launches Duca E: Armoured escort vehicle for VIP’s.

VENEZIA – Monteluci will soon start with the delivery of the Duca ‘E’ to multiple government institutions on the domestic and foreign markets. The Duca ‘E’ is an uparmoured version dedicated to escort tasks in VIP transports. It was jointly developed with the Russkyan company Kolma OBORFAB, under guidance of the Taganrog Institute.

The Duca E is a heavily modified Duca 3.2 BMD, of which the engine has been chiptuned, and a performance exhaust system has been installed, so the engine can achieve a maximum power rating of 350 PS. A second option is offered in the form of a modified Monteluci V8, known from the Duca SFS. The 400 PS engine has been equipped with a Biturbo system, a performance exhaust, while it has been chiptuned, and can now develop some 560 PS. The vehicle weighs 2500 kg in dry weight, and can carry an additional 600 kg’s in payload

The chassis, coachwork, brakes, engine and suspension all have been severely modified to withstand the increased weight and stresses put on a vehicle produced for escort duties. Due to the weight of the Duca E, the adaptive suspension has been modified to improve roadholding ability. The Duca E is assembled in a special department of the Moiano factory grounds, handbuilt by the best experts available. The advantages of the complete construction of the car is the advanced integration of the armouring in the design of the Duca.

The rear seats have been constructed in such a way that they can recline and jack-knife towards the rear seat passenger. This allows the rear seat passenger to comfortably take up a shooting position from the window. Furthermore, the vehicle has dedicated storage spaces for weaponry such as the Heckler & Koch MP-5K.

Defensive Systems:
The Duca-E and Duca-VIP, as produced by Monteluci's Moiano factory, incorporates a number of survivability measures developed by the Taganrog Institute and Tanovgorod Arsenal. These components are manufactured by Kolma OBORFAB.

Beginning with the basics, the vehicle is painted with a five millimetre (5mm) thick coating of OVR fireproof paint. This provides protection against open flame and incendiary devices such as the umbiquitous napalm and white phosphorous, at temperatures up to 1800°C for as much as thirty minutes. This coating helps to protect the vehicle from the famous "Molotov Cocktail," which could easily be used by crowds of protestors or aggressors making attempt on the vehicle and its occupants.

Specially developed Pirelli tyres are fitted to the Duca Escort and the Duca VIP. These are run-flat-capable kevlar reinforced tyres proofed against common handgun and submachinegun calibres ranging from 9x18mm to .45ACP. A side benefit of the reinforced tyres is that when inflated at low pressures, the vehicle is more able to cross soft terrain such as sand. Combined with the fifteen centimetre (15cm) ground clearance, the Duca Escort and Duca VIP are provided with a measure of off-road or rough-road capability.

A combination electronic countermeasure and electromagnetic protection system (ECM/EMP) provides protection against mines and explosive devices equipped with magnetic fuzes. The electronic countermeasures consist of a radio signal detector and the MRKS-32 all-frequencies local area jammer coupled to a defensive systems computer. The signal detector operates independently of the radio jammer and exists only to warn security personnel of abnormal radio signals. The jammer and detector operate on the LF, MF, HF, VHF, and UHF frequency bands. The computer can be programmed to allow or prohibit certain frequencies so as to allow the reception of local radio stations on the AM/FM bands, the communications equipment of the security personnel, and so on. The local area jammer creates an oblong safe zone measuring twenty-five meters (25m) to the sides and forty metres (40m) to the front and rear of the vehicle, in which no radio/cellular telephone signals can be received. This prohibits the use of most command-detonated explosive devices.

The electromagnetic protection component of the ECM/EMP system generates a large circular magnetic field around the vehicle, out to thirty meters (30m). This convinces magnetically-fuzed explosives that the vehicle is within the blast radius and causes a premature detonation of the explosive. As the vehicle draws nearer to the munition, the field increases in intensity, to a maximum of four times the vehicle's actual magnetic signature at a distance of ten meters from the vehicle.

Finally, the Duca-E and Duca VIP can be fitted with a visible-spectrum high intensity continuous wave "dazzling" laser. When activated, the roof-mounted emitter sweeps the wide-beam laser around the vehicle at seven thousand rotations per minute to cause damage to aggressors observing the vehicle via the unaided eye or from behind optics, such as a weapon sight. Tests show foveolar burning is a common effect of exposure to the defensive laser and care should be exercised in its use. To protect the occupants of the Duca Escort and VIP, the windshields are tinted with an anti-dazzle reflective material, not particularly dissimilar to a two-way mirror. The anti-dazzle coating comes standard, while the optional laser is an additional $160,000.

Armour Protection:
In order to provide optimal protection for the Duca E and Duca VIP, a careful choice of materials was a necessity. The Taganrog Institute determined that protection against kinetic energy (KE) threats would be the priority, as no vehicle of this type could be built to survive a chemical energy (CE) attack which could be expected to include, at minimum, the ubiquitous PG-7 or PG-7V rocket.

Armoured bulkheads separate the boot from the passenger compartment and supplement the firewall which separates the engine compartment from the passenger spaces. These bulkheads make use of a high hardness steel plate 10mm thick, backed by a 30mm thick carbon-chromium-molybdenum perforated plate encased in hardened rubber. The perforated plate is then backed with 5mm of ductile steel and a 10mm kevlar liner. The overall thickness of the armour scheme is 55mm and provides multiple impact protection against threats up to 15.5x115mm from any range. Further protection for the engine is provided by 30mm thick panels (5mm high hardness steel face-plate, 20mm perforated tungsten-molybdenum plate encased in ductile steel, backed with 2.5mm of kevlar provided with a 2.5mm thick epoxy coating) applied to the hood, side-panels, and behind the bumper. Air intakes and vents cannot be armoured.

100mm of space was allocated to the designers of the armour package at the Taganrog Institute. A 5mm hardened steel plate is spaced 15mm from the primary armour package. The armour package consists of a 40mm thick tungsten-molybdenum-chromium perforated plate (mesh) encased in hardened rubber for ease of handling. 5mm of kevlar coated in 2.5mm of epoxy backs this, to which a 10mm ductile steel plate is installed. A synthetic spall liner (15mm thickness) completes the armour package. The total armour package, including void space, is 92.5mm thick. Perforated plate (mesh) provides multiple impact resistance as any cracks caused in the plate will terminate at the nearest perforation. Perforations in the plates used on the Duca Escort and Duca VIP are 6.5mm in diameter.

Underside protection is provided by a V123 HF titanium-vanadium-aluminium plate, shaped to create a very shallow V. At its maximum depth, the distance between the apex of the formed plate and the ground is 15cm. This assists in deflecting any underside blast, though the limited angle available due to the dimension restrictions means that it will be less effective than comparable plating on a combat vehicle such as the R-18ISC. Ballistic plastics backed by a ballistic fabric (synthetic-lined kevlar) prevent spalling of the V123 HF TVA plate into the transmission and other drivetrain components. Windows are manufactured of Aluminium Oxynitride (AlON).
Tyres are designed to fly clear of the axle when they are struck by the force of an exploding landmine. This reduces transmitted shock to drivetrain components and makes it easier to repair the vehicle in the field. When half-filled with water, the tyres can further reduce the effects of landmine blast. This principle of protection is widely used in the Russkyan military.

Overhead protection is provided by the armoured roof. In order to accomodate the 'dazzler' without compromising overall protection, the centreline of the roof inside the passenger compartment drops down over the center console. The roof armour package consists of V123 HF titanium alloy plate (10mm) covering a series of 10mm thick boron-carbide ballistic ceramic tiles encased in five millimetres of ductile steel. This is backed with 10mm of epoxy-coated kevlar. The entire armour array has a line of sight thickness of 35mm and protects against 15.5x115mm fire. Protective effect is enhanced by certain operational considerations; engagement of the plate at a perpendicular angle is not possible as that would require being directly above the vehicle to fire down onto the roof. Therefore, any engagement of the overhead armour protection will occur at an oblique angle, allowing the "sloped armour effect" to assist in countering the projectile.

The Duca ‘E’ is costly, at a price of $300,000 USD. Monteluci however thinks that it is worth it for a vehicle that can protect VIP transports, while also being able to defend it’s passengers to the fullest degree. A variant to the Duca ‘E’ is the ‘VIP’, a somewhat lengthened Duca (+40cm) which can serve the role of VIP vehicle, as it offers more legroom and the features of the ‘E’ version, while also offering space for up to 4, or even 6 passengers (including the driver). In this version, the rear seat centre console is used for more comfort for the rear passengers, while fold-up seats mounted to the back of the front seats offer space for more guards, if required. These folding seats can also be used as footrests for the rear seat passengers, if required. The price for the Duca ‘VIP’ is $340,000. The extra price for the visual-band dazzling laser is $160,000.
