Roma V

"It's really quite a breakthrough in science", announced Dr. Pideus Rhoinius, head of the recently established research team. "With our Bionic implants we can give the handicap new legs, arms, and limbs they cant use. We can also gives injured soldiers with missing extremities new ones, it would be like they never lost it." The research team was officially given the Senate's approval to begin Roma V's first researches into improving and developing new Bionic systems.
While we interview Dr. Pideus Rhoinius, he had this to say about the possible future of bionics: "Eventually we're hoping to get to the point where we can correct mental retardation and smaller things like ADD and ADHD. We could do this by implanting chips into the patients skull that will work with the brain and correct the natural defects it has." The doctor also promised that it is possible they could enhance a soldier in the Roman Army to run faster, become stronger, require less sleep, be more resistant to pain.
Critics to the research team and the idea of bionics as a whole have been in full force protesting the last few days. "It's not right. If God wanted you to be blind, then by God you should be blind. It is not man's place to do the works of Jesus and attempt to mend the handicap," argued local Priest Julius Echius. Meanwhile other critics had to say things such as: "Its an interesting and helpful thing to research. I think it would be great to get the handicap back into the work force and be able to help the economy. However I just think this whole thing could be blown out of proportion and become something we'll regret unleashing.", says an anonymous pedestrian whom we stopped to interview.
Currently the research team is looking to hire top scientists from around the world to join in o the research, hoping that with larger numbers they will be able to accomplish a lot more. Will bionics prove to be too much for mankind to handle or will it drive us towards a golden age of efficiency and near perfection we've never seen? We'll see in the coming future.
